The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of leaders’ unethical behavior on employees’ job attitudes. Airline cabin crews show different attitudes according to the ethical identity of the leader as well as the top management, and have a great influence on the willingness to perform in-flight services and complete tasks. In order to prove this carried out survey for 160 airline cabin crews and were analyzed by using SPSS version 20.0 and AMOS 22.BR As a result, it was found that the airline cabin crews were less willing to perform their job when they recognized unethical leadership and Psychological contract violations. Psychological contract violation is also an important cause of decrease in willingness to perform service. However, airline cabin crews with a strong sense of job calling showed that their enthusiasm for their own job was not changed despite the unethical behavior of the leader.

항공사 객실승무원의 마음챙김이 감정노동과 심리적 웰빙에 미치는 영향

본 연구에서는 항공사 객실승무원의 마음챙김이 감정노동과 심리적 웰빙에 미치는 영향관계를 알아보고 마음챙김과 심리적 웰빙의 관계에서 감정노동의 매개효과에 대해 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 위해 문헌고찰 및 선행연구를 통한 마음챙김과 감정노동 및 심리적 웰빙의 개념과 구성요인을 도출하였고, 국적항공사에서 근무하는 객실승무원 205명을 대상으로 실증조사하여 객실승무원의 심리적 웰빙을 통한 항공사 차원에서의 인적관리를 위한 전략적인 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 마음챙김의 구성요인인 주의, 개방성, 자기관용, 자각, 현재지향성이 감정노동과 심리적 웰빙에 영향관계가 있음을 확인하였고, 마음챙김이 높을수록 감정부조화는 낮아지는 반면, 감정노력은 커지고 심리적 웰빙도 높아지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 감정노동이 마음챙김과 심리적 웰빙과의 관계에서 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과에서는 각 항공사에서는 높은 감정노동을 경험하고 있는 객실승무원의 감정관리와 심리적 웰빙 및 인적관리를 위해 객실승무원의 마음챙김을 위한 전략 및 교육프로그램의 계획 및 실현이 중요함을 시사하고 있다.

항공사 객실승무원의 직무자율성, 직무만족, 서비스품질 간의 관계 연구: K항공사를 대상으로

본 연구는 항공사 객실승무원의 직무자율성, 직무만족, 서비스품질 간의 영향관계를 파악하여 항공사의 효율적인 인적자원관리에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 국내 K항공사에서 근무하는 객실승무원을 대상으로 총 274부의 설문지를 반영하였다. 실증분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 직무자율성이 직무만족의 다섯 가지 하위요인(동료, 승진, 직무자체, 임금, 상사) 모든 영역에서 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직무자율성이 서비스품질의 세 가지 하위요인(신뢰 및 반응성, 공감성, 유형성)에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직무만족의 하위요인인 동료 요인과 직무자체 요인은 서비스품질의 하위요인인 신뢰 및 반응성 요인에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 반면에 상사 요인은 서비스품질의 하위요인인 신뢰 및 반응성 요인에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 직무만족의 하위요인인 직무자체 요인은 서비스품질의 하위요인인 공감성 요인에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 직무만족의 하위요인인 동료 요인, 승진 요인, 직무자체 요인은 서비스품질의 하위요인인 유형성 요인에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 항공사 객실승무원의 직무설계에 대한 방향성과 전략적 인적자원관리를 수립하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공함으로써 현장 개선과 발전에 기여될 것으로 사료된다.

항공사 객실승무원의 임파워먼트, 직무만족, 이직의도 간의 관계에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to examine the causal relationships among empowerment, job satisfaction, and turnover intention of the airline cabin crew. The results of the study are as follows. First, while all three empowerment factors (self-determination & impact, Job meaning, and job competency) have significant effects on operation satisfaction factor and satisfaction with company, but all factors of empowerment do not have any significant effect on the performance satisfaction factor of job satisfaction. Second, all factors of empowerment have a significant effect on the turnover intention, indicating that empowerment can be an effective tool for reducing employee turnover. Third, operation satisfaction factor has significant effect on the turnover intention but satisfaction with company factor and performance satisfaction factor do not have significant effect on the turnover intention. From the results, some practical implications for strategic human resource management of the cabin crew are also presented.

Do airline pilots and cabin crew have raised risks of melanoma and other skin cancers? Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Airline pilots and cabin crew are potentially exposed to hazardous ultraviolet and cosmic radiation, which may increase their risk of melanoma and other skin cancers. To establish precise risks of melanoma and keratinocyte cancer (KC) for airline pilots and for cabin crew based on all studies published to date. We searched MEDLINE, ISI Science Citation Index, Embase, SCOPUS and CINAHL to June 2018. All studies of melanoma and KC risk and mortality in airline pilots and cabin crew compared with the general population were eligible. Standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) and standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) were pooled using random effects models. From 5866 papers retrieved, we reviewed 44 full-text articles, of which 12 studies with data collected mostly between the 1970s and 1990s were eligible for inclusion. The pooled SIR (pSIR) for melanoma in pilots was 2.03 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.71-2.40] and in cabin crew it was 2.12 (95% CI 1.71-2.62). For pilots, the pooled SMR for melanoma was 1.99 (95% CI 1.17-3.40) and for cabin crew it was 1.18 (95% CI 0.73-1.89). For KC, the pSIR was 1.86 (95% CI 1.54-2.25) in pilots and 1.97 (95% CI 1.25-2.96) in cabin crew. There was no evidence of study heterogeneity. The available evidence shows that airline pilots and cabin crew have about twice the risk of melanoma and other skin cancers than the general population, with pilots more likely to die from melanoma. However, most of the evidence was collected several decades ago and their relevance to contemporary levels of risk is uncertain.

This study was aimed at examining the relationship between performance-based culture and organizational cynicism that airline cabin crews perceive, as well as the effects of organizational cynicism on organizational citizenship behavior, and finally deducing the moderating variables that can adjust the relationship between these two variables. As the result of empirical analysis, it was found that the management of goals on the basis of performances lowered the organizational cynicism and the performance-based evaluation system increased organizational cynicism, through which decisions for performance-based promotion were not statistically significant. In addition, higher levels of organizational cynicism reduced organizational citizenship behavior, and family resilience was found to play the mediating role between these two variables. Accordingly, in order to increase the quality of service and competitiveness of airlines, there is a need to manage the organizational cynicism and organizational citizenship behavior of cabin crews through improvement as a proper performance-based culture. In addition, through the disclosure that family resilience is an important factor that imparts affirmative effects on organizational citizenship behavior by reducing organizational cynicism, it has been discerned that airlines need to develop a wider range of means of enhancing family consultation services and family resilience.

The Effect of Perceived Performance-based Culture on Job Stress and Job Burnout of Airline Cabin Crew

최근 무한 경쟁사회로 접어듦에 따라 많은 기업들은 생산성 향상 및 경쟁우위를 위해 성과주의 인사제도를 도입하였다. 조직의 생산성 향상 및 개인의 동기부여 측면에서 긍정적인 결과로 나타날 수 있으나 업무 과중 및 외부의 압력 등으로 인해 개인의 스트레스를 더욱 가중 시키는 원인이 될 수 있다는 주장이 있었다. 하지만 지금까지 이에 대한 실증적인 검증은 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 개인의 직무 스트레스와 직무 소진은 조직에도 부정적인 영향을 초래할 수 있기에 개인적으로나 조직적으로 적절하게 관리되어야 할 중요한 과제이다. 특히, 인적 서비스 의존도가 높은 항공사는 객실승무원이 항공사의 경쟁력이자 고객 만족을 결정짓는 중요한 자원이므로 직무 스트레스와 직무 소진에 대해 관리할 필요가 있다. 이에 국내 대형 항공사 객실승무원을 대상으로 성과주의 문화가 직무스트레스와 직무소진에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 한다. 또한, 항공사 객실승무원을 대상으로 성과주의관련 선행연구가 거의 이뤄지지 않았기에 선행연구에서 사용되었던 측정도구를 객실승무원의 직종 특성에 맞게 수정·보완하여 측정하였다. 그 결과, 성과에 기반한 목표관리는 직무 스트레스와 직무 소진에 부의 방향으로 영향을 미쳤으며, 성과에 기반한 평가제도는 직무 스트레스와 직무 소진에 정의 방향으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 성과에 기반한 승진결정은 직무 스트레스에 정의 방향으로 영향을 미쳤으며, 직무 소진에는 부의 방향으로 영향을 미쳤으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 그리고, 직무 스트레스는 직무 소진에 정의 방향으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 항공사 객실승무원의 직무 스트레스와 직무 소진을 관리하기 위해 성과주의에 기반한 평가제도를 개선하고, 승진 외에 성과와 연계한 더욱 다양한 형태의 보상제도가 필요하다.

항공사 객실승무원의 공직수행동기가 심리적 주인의식과 조직몰입, 직무만족에 미치는 영향 연구 : 조직몰입의 매개효과 검증을 중심으로

This study tries to clarify empirical relations among airline cabin crews in their public service motivation, psychological ownerships, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. To achieve the goal, the researcher checked the literature, organized a survey by using measurement means and conducted an analysis in dept with the data. The public service motivation consists of 4 elements and psychological ownerships, organizational commitment, job satisfaction use only one element. The results of the empirical analysis are as below. At first, the result has shown that all the elements of public service motivation had positive effects on psychological ownerships and organizational commitment. Second, psychological ownerships give positive effects on organizational commitment and job satisfaction. And organizational commitment offers positive effects on job satisfaction. Third, There is meditating effects of organizational commitment between psychological commitment and job satisfaction. These results let us know that the public service motivation in airline industry employees makes strong psychological ownerships which can affect cabin crews’ commitment of the company and satisfaction of their duty as a safety guard in the cabin.

항공사의 기내 안전환경이 객실 승무원의 안전행동에 미치는 영향 : 안전 분위기의 조절효과

The purpose of this study is to verify the moderating effect of an airline's safety climate in the relationship between cabin safety environment and cabin crew’s safety behaviors. To meet this purpose, data were gathered from national and non-national airline's cabin crew. Firstly, the analysis of the cabin safety environment, safety behaviors and safety climate from the cabin crew’s perspective was carried out. Secondly, the relationship analysis between cabin safety environment and safety behaviors showed that the cabin safety environment had a significant influence on the safety behaviors. Thirdly, the moderating effect of safety climate between cabin safety environment and safety behaviors was verified. Fourthly, the analysis showed that according to the airline’s nationalty, the safety climate has a difference. Finally, the conclusions drawn from this study indicated that the cabin safety environment in the domestic airline is the main factor to improve cabin crew’s safety behaviors and should to promote the safety climate compared to non-national airlines.

Thyroid cancer risk in airline cockpit and cabin crew: a meta-analysis

BackgroundAirline crew are exposed to ionizing radiation as part of their occupation and have a documented increased risk of melanoma and cataracts. However, whether their occupation predisposes them to an increased risk of thyroid cancer is not established. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the risk of thyroid cancer in airline cockpit and cabin crew compared with the general population.MethodsThe MEDLINE database accessed via PubMed and Cochrane Database were searched. We included cohort studies reporting the standardized incidence ratio (SIR) or standardized mortality ratio (SMR) of thyroid cancers in any flight-based occupation.ResultsOf the 1777 citations retrieved in PubMed, eight studies with a total of 243,088 aircrew members and over 3,334,114 person-years of follow-up were included in this meta-analysis. No relevant studies were identified on Cochrane Database. The overall summary SIR of participants in any flight-based occupation was 1.11 (95% CI, 0.79–1.57; p = 0.613; 6 records). The summary SIR for cockpit crew was 1.21 (95% CI, 0.75–1.95; p = 0.383; 4 records) and the summary SIR for cabin crew was 1.00 (95% CI, 0.60–1.66; p = 0.646; 2 records). The overall summary standardized mortality ratio for airline crew was 1.19 (95% CI, 0.59–2.39; p = 0.773; 2 records).ConclusionAirline crew were not found to have a significantly elevated risk of thyroid cancer incidence or mortality relative to the general population. Future research should capitalize on the growing occupational cohort dataset and employ innovative methods to quantify lifetime radiation exposure to further assess thyroid cancer risk in airline crew.
