Abstract

This article is the result of reflections developed from a qualitative research in process. Its objective is to understand the educational teaching and learning experienced by the pifeiros musicians of the Bandas Cabaçais from São José de Piranhas - Sertão paraibano. The fact of these popular cultural musical groups be silenced by the hegemonic power justifies opening the doors of its educational spaces to highlight practices, knoledge and the symbolism which cosntitutes it. The focus here is on Manoel Inácio’s life narratives, collected through open interviews. The research hopes to provide contributions to studies on popular education and popular culture transmition, as well as to the development of the groups in and out of their own communities.
