The Utilization of Audio-Visual Learning Media in Learning Islamic Cultural History for Grade 10 High School Students

Education in Indonesia has always adapted well to keep up with increasingly advanced and developing times, one of which is the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum which aims to improve the quality of student learning through school innovation design. Therefore, this research was initiated to evaluate and identify the effectiveness of school innovation efforts in teaching the History of Islamic Culture to grade 10 high school students through audio-visual learning media. This research uses descriptive qualitative data analysis. The research subjects were students in class 10.3 of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta. Data was collected through interviews, field observations, and posttest results conducted over 4 weeks. The results of the research show that the use of audio-visual learning media in learning the History of Islamic Culture for grade 10 students is proven to be able to achieve learning objectives well. This is proven by the post-test answers which show 84% of students answered 10 questions perfectly. The conclusion is that audio-visual learning media is effective in supporting the learning of Islamic Cultural History

A moral-based curriculum to improve civilization and human resource development in Bangladesh

This study investigates the necessity of creating an ethical curriculum based on Islamic ideas in Bangladesh’s educational system. Bangladesh proffers a distinctive backdrop for incorporating Islamic principles into its educational framework as a nation with a varied cultural and religious background. Qualitative methodologies were used to analyze this investigation. It covered a difference of research papers, books, and articles to inspect the social, cultural, and educational elements of implementing a curriculum, primarily contributing to the discussion of ethical education in Islamic culture. This study investigates the challenges and opportunities this effort gives, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and a balanced approach to education. The study showed that teaching of ethical education in schools is not having a satisfactory effect on the students and this is because the curriculum of the book on ethical education is concise. The analysis of the impact of Islamic education on ethical education is compressed.

Reactualization of the Marriage Age Limit in Indonesia (in the Perspective of Maslahah Mursalah)

Law is a structure that regulates the pattern of society to form a culture. The Islamic family culture in Indonesia is strongly influenced by the prevailing family law structure which includes marriage and divorce. This is regulated in the structural system of laws regarding marriage, namely Law No. 1 of 1974 as amended by Law No. 16 of 2019 concerning Changes in the Minimum Age of Marriage for Women. Articles which for some people believe have not accommodated the interests of all parties and have not met the times, so that this Law is felt by some women activists to be discriminatory which tends to reap injustice. Among the articles that are considered controversial, namely the Minimum Age for Marriage. study on the actualization of Indonesian Marriage Age Limits uses a qualitative descriptive method by using a literature study, so that the findings are that Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage which was amended by Law No. 1 of 2019 especially related to Article 7 concerning the age limit is already in line with and accommodate the interests of citizens, In the Qur’an and Hadith there is no mention of age limits but mentions “baligh” and “able” as a benchmark in the permissibility of marriage, Jumhur scholars accept Maslahah Mursalah as one of the reasons in establishing sharia law, but in the application and placement of conditions they have different opinions

ISLAM AND MUSLIMS IN THE ANCIENT PERIOD RUSSIAN LITERATURE

In the article the attitude towards the Islamic religion and Muslims in the ancient Russian literature, first of all the Turks and also the relation to the Islamic religion and Muslim peoples in the literature of the Russian folk art is analyzed. The political, social, spiritual-cultural, literary-philological aspects of the attitude to Islam from ancient times are interpreted. The spread of Islam in Russia by the Khazars, as Turkic community, the positive effect of acquaintance with Islamic culture on Russian culture, relations with the East, statehood, Eastern culture, as well as the Islamic renaissance that began in the 7th-8th centuries AD on Russian culture are explained. In ancient times, the relation to Islam in Russian literature and culture on the formation and essence of philo-orientalism in Russian public opinion in later historical stages is noted. The translation of the Qur'an-i-Karim in Russian literature also has a rich history and the interpretation of this tradition allows us to clarify the historical, political, methodological, philological aspects of the translation of the sacred text and the attitude towards Islam in Russia in general.

Islamic Family Law Reform in Indonesia Through Supreme Court Circulars: A Maqasid Sharia Perspective

From 2012 to 2022, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia has issued ten new regulations through Supreme Court Circulars (SEMA) resulting from Plenary Chamber Meetings, which have produced 458 new legal rules. Among these new legal rules, 109 govern Islamic civil law, indicating that SEMAs represent another variation in the efforts to reform Islamic family law in Indonesia. This research aims to examine the existence and efforts of Islamic family law reform in Indonesia from the perspective of maqasid sharia according to contemporary scholars. This research uses a mixed-method approach, employing both statutory and conceptual approaches. Primary data sources consist of SEMAs from 2012 to 2022, and secondary data consist of legal regulations related to issues of Islamic family law, which are analyzed. The theory used for data analysis is the theory of maqasid sharia. The results of this research show that the reform of Islamic family law regulations in Indonesia through SEMAs from 2012 to 2022 is integrative with maqasid sharia. The regulations issued in SEMAs have fulfilled six aspects of maqasid sharia, namely: (a) aspects of faith, creed, and monotheism; (b) aspects of human nature and moral improvement; (c) aspects of common sense and legal contextualization; (d) aspects of human rights, freedom, equality, justice, and women's rights; (e) aspects of good order and civilization; (f) aspects of public interest (maslahah)

The image of Gresik Town Square based on participatory design of multicultural society in Gresik

Gresik Town Square, or Alun-alun Gresik, was originally an open space that was used by local residents for various activities. However, in 2017, the Gresik Town Square was converted into an Islamic Center, which caused pros and cons in the society. This refusal is based on the position of the Gresik Town Square as a cultural heritage and the conditions around the Square are not only based on Islamic culture. This is marked by the existence of the Pentecostal Church and Kim Hin Kiong Temple near the Alun-Alun. This phenomenon generates a “placelessness”, which describes the ignorance of special feature of places in the creation of the new landscapes. The existence of Alun-Alun Gresik, which is an Islamic Center, can slowly replace the special meaning of places, such as the Pentecostal Church and Kim Hin Kiong Temple which are also highly related to the cultural traditions. Based on this problem, the multicultural condition of the Old City of Gresik is the basis for restoring Gresik Town Square by respecting other cultures. Using participatory design approach, this project is trying to involve participants’ contributions in seeing this issue and giving aspirations on the design of multicultural Gresik Town Square. The research employs field observation, interview, survey, and literature review for data collection. The results showed that two groups (accepting and rejecting the design) are likely to have multicultural image of the town square, supported by activities and facilities that accommodate each communities’ culture.

Multiculturalism in general is a concept of culture and variations in individual behavior caused by differences in race, religion and social structure, which is currently a hot issue and study material in the realm of social order. Islam has existed for centuries as the center of an advanced and diverse civilization. Along with the spread of Islam to various regions of the world, Islamic kingdoms grew and had prosperous centers of trade, science and culture. One of the main characteristics of Islamic civilization is the ethnic, cultural and religious diversity that exists within it. The structure of society in Damascus consists of four main components, namely: 1. The first social class, namely the Muslim-Arab nation occupies the highest class in social stratification in Damascus. 2. The second social class, namely the converts, people who have just converted to Islam. 3. The third social class, namely the non-Muslim group. 4. The fourth social class, namely the slaves who lived within the center of power of the Umayyad Daula in Damascus.

From apocalypticism to eschatology: a comparative analysis of western “Utilitarianism” and Islamic “Maṣlaḥah”

By employing Utility tools or moral conducts based on “the greatest good for the greatest number”, the Utilitarian mechanism maximizes the Utility for majority. This ethical theory is evidently grounded in human reason free from any transcendent revelation which is all the way expounded as a purely secular product of renaissance. While, in contrast to “Utilitarianism”, the Islamic “Maṣlaḥah” transcends the spatial structure and materiality to connect the life hereafter, hence the immediate good and bad of this world are but the function for the final good or bad pertaining to the Afterlife. Reviewing and analyzing relevant contents, this paper explores the key differences and similarities between Western “Utilitarianism” and Islamic “Maṣlaḥah”. Firstly, the paper identifies that both “Utilitarianism” and “Maṣlaḥah” aim to promote human welfare and happiness, but differ in their approach to defining and measuring the concept. Secondly, the paper examines the role of reason and revelation in shaping ethical decision-making in both traditions. Finally, it discusses the practical implications of “Utilitarianism” and “Maṣlaḥah” in contemporary societies. While “Utilitarianism” is often associated with individualistic and secular societies, Islamic “Maṣlaḥah” is deeply embedded in Islamic culture and tradition, which emphasizes community values and religious obligations.

A Historical-Analytic Perspective on Islam and Cinematic Culture in Northern Nigeria

This article reviewed the intricate relationship between film/cinematic culture and Islam in northern Nigeria and more importantly, the reception of film as a culture in Hausa Muslim societies. Various media ethnographical studies have revealed that since the introduction of cinema, the acceptance and consumption of film and other cinematic products are to a large extent influenced by the Sharia (Holy/ Islamic Law), which serves as a guide for northern filmmakers and a corrective measure for the media representations of the happenings in their societies. The belief of northern Muslims is that films and cinema are harbingers of immorality and should be eschewed. Indeed, and arguably so, this is the general disposition of the northern Muslims to western ways. The overwhelming exertions of the Kano State Film and Video Censors Board (KSCB) make this claim evident. This study considered the mobility and survival of cinematic culture in the heart of Nigeria’s most Islamic centre, Kano, otherwise known as Kannywood. It adopted a historical-analytic approach to the study of the development of cinema in northern Nigeria and examined the cinematic culture vis-à-vis Islam in northern Nigeria. The paper contended that globalisation and the advent of advanced technology are yet to influence film contents from the region or mass acceptance and consumption of modern films by its populace. It concluded that the Sharia and the involvement of Islamic scholars/clerics have inhibited the growth of Kannywood.

DIMENSIONS OF RELIGIOSITY IN ABIDAH EL KHALIEQY'S NOVELS

Literary works can depict various phenomena from various sectors, including cultural, social, political, psychological, and religious. Interestingly, in the research of literary works and religion, it is often distinguished between religion and non-religion, even though religion in literary works is universal. Therefore, this study aims to explain the dimensional aspects of religiosity in Abidah El Khalieqy's novels. The type of research is descriptive qualitative, using the religiosity theory approach by Glock and Stark. The data sources of this research are the novels Geni Jora, Mataraisa, Bait-Bait Multazam, and Santri Cengkir. Data collection uses reading and note-taking techniques, while this study uses human interest. Data validity is interrater and interrater techniques. Data analysis uses the method of comparing data, categorizing, presenting data, and making inferences. The results of this study show that religiosity in Abidah El Khalieqy's novels related to the five dimensions of Glock and Stark consists of a belief dimension, a belief practice dimension, a science dimension, an experience dimension, and an experience effect dimension. The conclusion explains that Glock and Stark's multidimensional typology of religiosity dimensions is universal in the treasures of Islamic culture. The problem presented in the novel is the problem between characters in achieving the lost dimension of religiosity, which functions as a human value and transcendence in obtaining the lost dimension in life.

Restful Souls: The Representative Men (Yunus Emre and Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Abstract Yunus Emre, the prominent Turkish poet who left his mark on the 13th century, stands out as the most significant folk poet producing poetry in vernacular Turkish. On the other hand, Ralph Waldo Emerson, the American essayist, is recognized as one of the most influential thinkers of the 19th century. Despite living in different centuries, the commonality between these two representative figures is love, more precisely Divine love. This article offers a comprehensive analysis of the intellectual realms of Turkish Sufi poet Emre and American thinker Emerson through their profound exploration of love. Focusing on Emre's impact in Turkish Islamic culture and Emerson's role in American Transcendentalism, both are examined as representative men of their eras. The article introduces the similarities of Divine love in the teachings and worldviews of these influential thinkers, and illustrates their contributions to humanity's cultural and intellectual development. Emre and Emerson’s intellectual legacy forms the primary focus of the article and offers a perspective on how their understanding of love significantly shaped humanity's collective consciousness.

DEGRADASI SERAPAN AKSARA ARAB DAN MELEMAHNYA PENGARUH ISLAM: ANALISIS HISTORIS TERHADAP AKSARA ALJAMIADO, XIAOJING, DAN JAWI

The Aljamiado, Xiaojing, and Jawi scripts are a manifestation of the acculturation of Arabic Islamic culture with the culture of various community groups spread across various parts of the world. Acculturation is created through social interactions involving the carriers and disseminators of Islam. The script adopted from Arabic grew along with the development of Islamic civilization, and weakened as Islamic civilization declined. There have not been many studies on historical analysis and social construction by making comparisons between languages ??that adopt the Arabic script. Most studies only focus on one character through various approaches. This article aims to discuss the degradation of Arabic script absorption in Chinese, Spanish and Malay and reveal the essence behind its connection to the weakening influence of Islam. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library research method. Primary data sources include books and journals of previous research and other relevant sources. The results of this research show that the degradation of the absorption of Arabic script in the form of Aljamiado, Xiaojing, and Jawi is directly proportional to the weakening of Islamic influence. Meanwhile, its emergence was initiated by immigrant Muslims, driven by different conditions. Aljamiado and Xiaojing were born as a result of weakening Islamic hegemony, while Jawi was born because Islamic influence was getting stronger

An Expansive View of the Influence of Khidr’s Divine Knowledge for Humanity

Dr. Irfan Omar's book, "Prophet al-Khidr: Between the Qur’anic Text and Islamic Contexts," explores the story of Moses and the mysterious figure Khidr, who possesses unique divine knowledge, as mentioned in verses 18:60-82 of the Qur’an. This book focuses on glorifying Allah, acquiring knowledge, and acting rightly by delving into the theological, historical, cross-cultural, mythical, and allegorical aspects of this story. Dr. Omar examines how the symbols of Khidr have spread throughout history and various cultures, explaining the emergence of Khidr-like characters within and outside Islam. Additionally, the book presents an argument about the two types of divine knowledge originating from Islam and God, juxtaposed with the limitations of human conditions. The distinction between the exoteric knowledge represented by Moses (Law) and the esoteric knowledge represented by Khidr (divine instruction) highlights both the limitations in human access to knowledge but also human potential. By exploring the spread of symbols in Islamic culture through Khidr's story, Omar’s book provides a rich perspective on creating a trans-historical legacy and addressing the limitations in human access to divine knowledge.

A Classification Essay on Islamic Poetry in New Turkish Literature

Objectives: The objectives of this study are to define Islamic poetry, explore its analytical methodology, and provide examples that illustrate its thematic concepts within modern Turkish poetry. Methods: To achieve these objectives, the study employs the document analysis method, which is a qualitative research approach. The analysis focuses on modern Turkish poetry, examining examples across eight distinct categories of Islamic poetry. Results: The analysis of Islamic poetry within modern Turkish literature reveals its diverse manifestations across various thematic categories. These include Islamist Poetry, Turkish-Islamic Poetry, Sufi Poetry, Islamic Mystical Poetry, Islamic Metaphysical Poetry, Islamic Cultural Poetry, Religious Poetry, and Islamic Romantic Love Poetry. Each category is exemplified with a poem, showcasing the rich tapestry of Islamic sensibility, motivation, and thematic concepts present in modern Turkish poetry. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study highlights the enduring influence of Islam on Turkish poetry, both historically and in contemporary times. Through the exploration of Islamic poetry across different thematic categories, the study illustrates the depth and breadth of Islamic sensibility within modern Turkish literature. The researchers' conclusions drawn from the analysis further contribute to our understanding of the role of Islamic poetry in shaping cultural and literary discourse in Turkey.

The Influence of Islamic Leadership and Organizational Culture on Lecturer Satisfaction and Performance Alkhairaat Palu University

Objectives: The aim of this research is twofold. Firstly, it seeks to analyze the influence of Islamic leadership and organizational culture on the job satisfaction and performance of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. Secondly, it aims to examine the impact of Islamic leadership and organizational culture on satisfaction and performance through job satisfaction. Methods: This verification research employs a quantitative approach to analyze the influence of Islamic leadership variables and organizational culture variables on job satisfaction and performance of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. Results: The results of this research reveal that Islamic leadership significantly affects the job satisfaction of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. Additionally, Islamic leadership has a significant effect on lecturer performance through job satisfaction, although it does not directly impact performance. This finding suggests that the influence of Islamic leadership on performance is mediated by job satisfaction. Organizational culture variables, on the other hand, significantly affect both job satisfaction and performance of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. Furthermore, organizational culture influences performance through satisfaction. Job satisfaction itself is found to significantly affect the performance of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. Conclusion: In conclusion, this research highlights the significant influence of Islamic leadership and organizational culture on the job satisfaction and performance of lecturers at Alkhairaat University, Palu. While Islamic leadership directly impacts job satisfaction and indirectly affects performance through satisfaction, organizational culture directly influences both job satisfaction and performance. These findings underscore the importance of fostering positive Islamic leadership and a conducive organizational culture in enhancing the satisfaction and performance of lecturers in an Islamic-based institution like Alkhairaat University.

From Fear to Understanding: Millennials’ Perceptions of Islam in Contemporary Society as a Basis for Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation

This study aimed to describe the millennials' perception of Islam in contemporary society as a basis for interfaith dialogue and cooperation. A descriptive research method was utilized. Respondents were selected using stratified probability sampling. A total of 255 were used primarily as the respondents of this study. The data gathered were analyzed using the SPSS software V21x64. The statistical methods used were frequency and percentage counts, standard deviation, mean, and the grand mean. The respondents’ demographic profile relative to age, the 25-28 age group had more respondents than other age groups. As to sex, females dominated the number of respondents. In terms of tribe, most respondents are Cebuano. Regarding religious affiliation, Roman Catholics have a significant number of respondents and in educational attainment, most of the respondents are high school graduates. Millennials with a moderately high perception of Islam view the religious practices of Islam in a positive light. They may appreciate the emphasis on prayer, fasting, and charity as acts of devotion. Regarding cultural aspects of Islam, millennials with moderately high perceptions may appreciate the rich history and traditions associated with Islamic culture. Relative to governance, millennials with moderately high perceptions may acknowledge the influence of Islamic principles in shaping societies governed by law. They may recognize the importance of justice, fairness, and social welfare in Islamic governance systems and appreciate the emphasis on community and public welfare. Millennials with a moderately high perception of Islam will likely have a positive view of it, appreciating its religious practices, cultural contributions, and governance principles. They may also be open to learning more about Islam and engaging in interfaith dialogue and cooperation with practitioners of different religions.

Conceptualization and Models of Mulsim Counseling in Ghana

Ghana is a secular state in which Islam is the second largest religion. Counselors who follow principles in Islam and Muslim culture, comprising imams and followers, serve as de facto mental health providers, but their counseling practices have received limited research attention. This study examined the conceptualizations and counseling practices of 19 Muslim counselors aged 32–72 (M=57.83; SD=12.95) who follow principles in Islam and Muslim culture in southern Ghana. Qualitative data was obtained using one-on-one verbal interviews. Data was inductively and thematically analyzed. Results were organized around five main areas: (1) counseling inventory, (2) conceptualizations of counseling, (3) counseling models, (4) process considerations, and (5) personal prescriptions. Participants conceptualized counseling primarily as advising. They provided services in nine different languages and utilized advising and mediatorial models of counseling. The counselors attended to religious considerations and socio-gender norms in their counseling. The study fills important gaps in Muslim mental health research. Implications for professional psychology training and practice, as well as mental health research and advocacy, have been discussed.

Calligraphy is a work that has meaning because the work is an expression of divinity which is abstract in nature. Thus, calligraphy contains a communication between the artist and the Creator which is interpreted through expressions in painting or writing calligraphy from revelation (the Koran). In completing this study, researchers used the method of literature study. Literature study is a series of activities related to methods of collecting library data, reading and taking notes, and managing research materials.
