Applying Sharing Session in Encouraging and Motivating Students in Language Learning Class

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of sharing sessions in encouraging and motivating students in the language learning class. Not all of the students are active in the class, some students are passive in the class because of some factors. When the teacher asks the question, students preferably keep silent in the class. They are becoming passive participants in the class because they do not know the topic and feel unconfident to speak in front of others. They are becoming afraid to speak because they do not feel comfortable in the class situation and condition. They do not have good socialization in the class like they do not respond well and give feedback in the class. For this problem, this paper attempts to analyze how to apply the sharing session steps in language learning class and what are the benefits of applying them. The teacher can give motivation like intrinsic or extrinsic motivation in a sharing session class which also can encourage students in language learning class. This paper applies qualitative research analysis and also a descriptive method to describe the finding. Two steps can be used to apply sharing sessions in encouraging and motivating students in the language learning class. The first step is to choose the learning materials that are appropriate for the learners, and the second step is to create good classroom management. This paper finally underlines that the use of applied learning materials that are appropriate with the learners and create good classroom management can improve students’ confidence, and it makes them be the independent learners in the classroom.

Differences in students' scholastic well-being induced by familial and scholastic context.

BackgroundSince scholastic well‐being is connected with intrinsic motivation, positive emotions and effective learning, it is highly relevant for educational research. It is influenced by a variety of individual and contextual determinants and differs for several groups of students with respect to their environmental conditions.AimsUp to now, there has been neither approach in answering questions about group‐differences between students with high or low levels of scholastic well‐being nor in defining variables that are most different for these groups. The current study addresses this research gap by investigating differences in familial and scholastic aspects in two distinct groups of students (extreme high or low level of scholastic well‐being).Sample and MethodSelf‐report questionnaires from N = 852 fifth graders were evaluated using the multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and a discriminant analysis.ResultsResults of the discriminant analysis show that attainment of academic educational track, good classroom‐management, positive social climate in class and high clarity of instruction, as well as low parental pressure on performance are characteristics that classify students with an extreme high level of scholastic well‐being. Therefore, those variables can be used to divide students into disjoint groups without having any information about their actual scholastic well‐being.ConclusionFirstly, it can be deduced from the findings that measures within the schools to promote scholastic well‐being should start with the improvement of instructional quality and social climate. Second, reduction of parental pressure on performance as well as the implementation of successful cooperation between families and schools is vital.

Classroom management: Applying appropriate strategies to enhance effective teaching

The teaching and learning process should be conducted effectively so that students can obtain the learning objectives. In so doing, teachers should have the ability to deliver the teaching materials effectively by conducting good classroom management. In this case, as prospective teachers, pre-service teachers should manage the classroom well to maintain teaching effectively. However, handling classroom management is not easy, and therefore pre-service teachers should apply appropriate strategies in managing the classroom. This research aims to investigate the strategies that pre-service teachers use to overcome the problems in managing the classroom during their teaching practices in a private senior high school. A qualitative research approach was employed to answer the research questions, in which in-depth interviews were administered to collect the data. Besides, four pre-service teachers at an Islamic university in Yogyakarta volunteered as the participants in this study. This study’s results showed that the participants applied several strategies to respond to the problems emerging during their teaching practice. The strategies which these pre-service teachers applied to overcome the problems comprised 1) improving self-confidence, 2) preparing lessons carefully, 3) anticipating unpredictable situations, 4) responding to unpredictable questions wisely, and 5) handling with the students’ heterogeneity. Having various ways of handling classroom management, these pre-service teachers could deliver the lesson effectively. Therefore, this study is beneficial for those who are having teaching practice to keep the classroom run successfully.

The Effect of Classroom Management Implementation on Students' Achievement

This study aims to know about the effect of Classroom Management Implementation on Achievement Student learning. The approach in this research is quantitative research. The results of this study are based on the results of statistical tests. Based on the test results with the linear equation formula shows, that the coefficients table (a) regression equation model, learning achievement results can be predicted, influenced by the results of class management implementation which is obtained value Y =31,147+15,929 X. Variable Y is the result of learning, and X is the implementation of classroom management. Based on the results of the linear equation test, it can be analyzed, among others, if the teacher does not implement classroom management, then the value (X = 0), and the results of students' learning achievement statistical value test is obtained at 31,147+15,929(1)=57,176. Then the regression coefficient of value mounts to b=31.147, the amount of students' achievement scores increase in line with increase in the results of implementing class management. The result of the regression equation Y= 31,147+15,929, the value of X used as the basis for the calculation increases with the level of students' learning achievement, who are influenced by the implementation of good classroom management.

Peran Guru Dalam Menangani Perilaku Mengganggu (Disruptive Behavior) Siswa Pada Proses Pembelajaran di Kelas [The Role of Teachers in Handling Disruptive Behavior Students in The Classroom Learning Process

Learning is an activity that involves interaction between teachers and students as achieving a learning goal. In the learning process, the teacher is required to carry out his role with full responsibility. If there is behavior in a class that does not support the learning process, the teacher must be able to take action correctly. Class management is needed by the teacher to create effective learning, and prevent problems in the classroom. Disruptive behavior that students do in the learning process must get treatment from the teacher because it will have an impact on other students. However, in addressing this problem the teacher must continue to see that students are the image of God, even if their behavior is not by God's truth. The teacher's role is to bring students to changes in behavior, as well as making students aware of their misbehavior. Therefore, this literature study aims to find out how the teacher's role in handling disruptive behavior of students in the learning process in class. Effects of Class Size on Classroom Management: A Study on Elementary Schools

The main aim of this study was to see the relationship between class size and classroom management), Classroom management (CRM) for comparing teaching in overcrowded classes versus small sized classrooms. Primary data were collected from same teachers who had the experience of teaching both overcrowded classes and small sized classes. For overcrowded classes, it was hypothesized that teachers can very effectively maintain discipline in the small-sized classrooms as compared to the overcrowded classes. In case of class room management (CRM), it was hypothesized that overcrowded classes do not allow good class room management compared to small sized classes. Reliability tests were carried out to check consistency of the answers from respondents on all seven variables, in both the overcrowded and small-sized classes. The test chornbachs� alphas yielded acceptable to very good range. The mean values of variable Classroom management (CRMO) was estimate at 4.04. On the basis of descriptive statistics coupled with One-sample t test, this research concluded that majority of the teachers had found that overcrowded class rooms were not appropriate for Classroom management (CRMS). Considering the conclusions, the study recommends that classes should not be overcrowded to the best possible circumstances.

ANALISIS KETERCAPAIAN INDIKATOR STANDAR PROSES PADA MA ADDZURIYATUS SHOLIHIN

ABSTRACTThis article aims to determine the standard of the research process at MAAdzuriyatus Solihin ciparay Bandung. This research is a qualitative research bycollecting data in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results ofthis study indicate that the achievement of process standards at MA Adzuriyatus SolihinCiparay Bandung is 91.42% when compared to the entire maximum score that shouldbe achieved in the standard process. This study recommends in-depth. indicators thathave not been achieved optimally, especially school indicators carry out the learningprocess with a maximum of 36 students in the study group and the teacher conducts goodclassroom management with 12 criteria. According to the author, the principal mustconduct an evaluation and supervision of the way to teach in the class, also conducttraining for teachers who have not been able to achieve standard process indicators.Because in learning the class of educators plays an important role in the learningprocess. HIGH SCHOOL CLASS MANAGEMENT BASIS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THEMATIC LEARNING

The research objective describes the management of high grade in an elementary school in the implementation of thematic learning. This research is research that uses qualitative approach with phenomenological qualitative research. Subjects were high-grade teachers in public primary schools 76 / IX Mendalo as many as nine people. Data was collected through observation and interviews. The results of the study of text on thematic learning classroom management in primary school. The results showed high-grade elementary school teacher 76 / IX Mendalo, Muaro management skills class with good category. Thematic learning is implemented through good classroom management. Three components of classroom management are met, namely: the management of physical, socio-emotional, and organsasional. The conclusion is in the implementation of thematic learning thing to note is classroom management. High-grade teacher SD Negeri 76 / IX Mendalo attention to classroom management in the implementation of thematic learning.

Views of students on qualities expected of their lecturers: a case study of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo city, Nigeria.

Although the assessment of teachers by students has been introduced into tertiary educational development in Nigeria, very limited information exists on students’ expectations of their teachers. We investigated this component among a cohort of newly admitted students at the University of Medical Sciences in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria. This was a descriptive quantitative study consisting of a community-interactive session with students at the 100 and 200 levels of the University. Three hundred (300) students participated in the session. We first explained the purpose of the study. Thereafter, the students individually completed a semi-structured questionnaire that elicited information on their views on the qualities they expected of their lecturers. The results were analyzed quantitatively with SPSS version 21. Of the 300 students, 204 (64.0%) completed the questionnaire. Friendliness and congeniality (46.1%), good classroom management (38.7%), good sense of humor (36.3%), good communication skills (33.3%) and expertise (32.8%) were the five most desirable qualities of good lecturers listed by the students. By contrast, the five qualities which rated lowest in the assessment were equity (4.4%), mentoring capacity (4.9%), enthusiasm (6.9%), encouraging students to succeed (7.8%) and approachability (8.3%). We conclude that students at the University of Medical Sciences look out for personal social relationships with their teachers during curricular delivery. We recommend that approaches to address these concerns should be incorporated into the design of training programs for teachers and in protocols for students’ evaluation of teachers in this university and others in similar circumstances.

MEMOTIVASI SISWA UNTUK BELAJAR DENGAN VARIASI METODE DAN PENERAPAN PAIKEM

Good classroom management will produce good teaching and learning interactions. Learner goals can be achieved without finding significant obstacles. But it is unfortunate that good classroom conditions cannot always be maintained. There is often a lack of learning in students, their confusion here is different, and various other learning problems. This may be due to their routine in learning. They routinely enter class, take a break, go home according to the time determined by the school. At the same time, the learning methods used by the teacher are also routine, aka not changing. So, this article is arranged to contribute ideas about solutions to these learning problems. After a literature review, a solution to the problem is offered, namely the use of a variety of learning methods and the application of PAIKEM.

Musyrifah Strategy in the Management of Mutawassith Class on Mufrodat Material at Shabah Al-Lughah

Classroom management in the Shabah al-Lughah program has many variations on each subject and meeting. But there are also problem mufrodat learning in the classroom that are overcome by the teacher variation of strategies. his study aims to determine the strategy and role of supervisor (musyrifah) in the process of mufrodat learning on the mutawassith class so that it was categorized as a good classroom management. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive researchobtained from interviews, observation, and documentation relating to the strategy and role of musyrifah in measuring mutawassith class on the mufrodatmaterial; thenit analyzed. The data sources in this study are the musyrifah who teach in the mutawassith class. The results of this study are; first, variations strategy of musyrifah on the management of the mutawassith class when the mufrodat learning isusingthe audiolingual, the grammatical, the direct, the question, and answer method and the discussion. Second, the role of musyrifah in the classroom is more often teacher-centered, that ismusyrifah acts as an instructor, musyrifah arranges to seat, delivers material, minimizes the transition time, gives a clue when mahasantrimention mufrodat meaning.Musyrifah dominates speech while Learner-centered roles are rarely used. So the existence of this research can provide a solution for instructors of Arabic language to develop their strategies, so that the desired goals of mufrodat material can be achieved.

The Inspiring English Lecturers of the English Education Department at IAIN Samarinda

The successful of teaching and learning process is cannot be separated from the lecturers' role that inspiring the students. An inspiring English lecturer should be possessed at least three skills namely attitudinal skills, teaching technical strategy, and students’ changes in learning English. In teaching strategy skills, it has the other indicators of being an inspiring English lecturer such as a) preparation; b) planning and development curriculum; c) use curriculum framework; d) clear targets and objectives of teaching; e) developing strategy and planning activities of teaching; f) designs of appropriate learning modules; g) planning classroom activities; h) finding new innovative teaching strategies; i) finding newest references; j) good classroom management. In teaching strategy to university students, the lecturer should be more interesting, creative and able to keep the students away from getting bored. In order to keep the students' away from getting bored in learning English, the lecturers had to use good teaching strategy. The objectives of this research are: (1) to know the teaching plan of the English lecturers based on teaching strategy; (2) to the teaching implementation of the English lecturers based on teaching strategy in English Education department. The design of this research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is English Education Department of IAIN Samarinda. In this study, the researcher used a questionnaire guide and an observation sheet. The result of this research is that all of the lecturers of English Department of IAIN Samarinda is an inspiring person who always prepares the lessons well. This indicates that all students of English Education Department of IAIN Samarinda more appreciation with the statement. Meanwhile, the statement that shows the lowest responses is found on the statement of an English lecturer should think hard to find the latest references in their instructions. This indicates that a huge number of these indicators had not yet owned by IAIN English lecturers Samarinda.

AN ANALYSIS OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT DIFFICULTIES IN THEMATIC LEARNING IN SD N 2 KUTOSARI

<em>Curriculum 2013 has started to be implemented in schools, including in SD N 2 Kutosari. One of its realizations is the thematic learning for grade 1, 2, 4, and 5. The implementation needs a good classroom management in order to achieve maximum learning objectives. However, in the actual act, there are still teachers who have difficulties in managing the classroom for the thematic learning. The purpose of this research was to describe problems in the classroom management for the thematic learning in SD N 2 Kutosari. The approach used in this research was qualitative with descriptive analysis. The data were collected through observation, documentation, and interview to the teachers. Result showed that there are problems, such as (1) Students feltbored easily to the learning subject (2) Students were busy talking with their friends (3) Students were busy to get attention from the teachers and the other students (4) The number of students in class exceeded the ideal number (5) Students tended to choose friends in group discussion (6) Less interesting subject (7) A static classroom setting.</em>

Pre-Service Teachers Knowledge of Classroom Management

Classroom management is one of the main factors that give a significant impact on the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Teachers with good classroom management skills are able to deal with challenging behavior issues positively. But, teachers with poor classroom management skills will feel frustrated whenever they fail to deal with behavior problems. This situation also disrupts the teaching and learning session. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of pre-service teachers’ knowledge regarding classroom management. This research used survey research design and the questionnaire was adopted from the previous researcher. Pre-service teachers’ knowledge was measured based on their understanding regarding behavior management and the implementation of positive and negative reinforcement. The purposive sampling technique used in sample selection. To be selected in this research, respondents must be final year students who have completed the courses and teaching practicum and specialized in special education programs. A total of 100 respondents from three public universities participate in this research. Research findings showed respondents demonstrated a good understanding regarding classroom management with a high level of the mean value. This outcome revealed public university in Malaysia provides a great teacher training program, particularly in a special education program. With a good understanding of behavior management, is to be expected pre-service teachers will be able to be good teachers once they enter the real world of education soon.

Gambar Dalam Proses Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Hindu Di Sd Negeri 2 Dauh Peken Tabanan

<p><em>Image media is the result of hand painting that is printed or produced or the results of photography are poured in the form of images that have maximum appeal. In SD Negeri 2 Dauh Peken Tabanan in the process of learning Hindu education, the teacher tried to use picture media as a teaching aid because of the lack of student interest in Hindu religious education. The theory used to analyze problems is: Behavioristic Theory and motivation theory. This research approach is qualitative from primary data obtained through field research and secondary data obtained from several library documentation. To obtain data about the application of image media researchers applied data collection methods with methods of observation, interviews, literature and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques with steps of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are (1) The application of image media in the learning process in this study took 4 stages, namely preparation, presentation, follow-up and closing. (2) Obstacles in the application of image media are indogeneous factors and exogeneous factors. (3) Efforts made in the application of image media are maximizing the making of image media, good classroom management and internal teacher and school policies.</em></p>

A Proposed Flipped Learning Approach-Based Training Program to Develop the In-service Teachers’ EFL Teaching Skills

Being an effective teacher is not an easy task. Effective teachers need to have good professional teaching skills. Content knowledge, good planning, good classroom management, organization and awareness of assessment and evaluation of the learning process are essential variables to be effective teachers. Besides, they need to feel responsible for the students' learning process, regardless their aptitude to learn. Teachers, as well as having effective professional skills, serve as examples of lifelong learners and are responsible for their own education. They need to be able to survive the demands and challenges within the diverse circumstances of teaching. They needs to be persistent, flexible and innovative on new teaching approaches and be prepared in case of any challenges. Killen (2006) stated that effective teachers have clear objectives and own goals of teaching. They manage and organize the classroom according to the students’ needs and preferences to enhance the learning process and create an attractive and warm learning environment for their students. In addition, they also master lesson planning skills, lesson presentation skills and assessment and evaluation skills. Moreover, many teachers, college and university professors desire to change their instructional style from traditional lecture to a more active student-centered style through group work, discovery activities, experiments, and class presentations (Baker, 2000). Thus, they should highlight classroom activities on helping students transfer their learning to new situations, offer something in the classroom that students cannot get elsewhere in addition to creating a dynamic learning environment.

Teachers’ Professional Ethics and Instructional Performance as Correlates of Students’ Academic Performance in Secondary Schools in Owo Local Government, Ondo State, Nigeria

The study investigated teachers’ compliance with professional ethics and instructional tasks performance, and determined the implication on students’ academic performance in secondary schools in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. Three research questions were raised and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. 90 top management officers (principals, vice principals, heads of departments, guidance and counselors, and examination officers completed questionnaire titled “Teachers Professional Ethics and Instructional Tasks Performance Questionnaire (TPEITPQ), and Students’ Academic Performance Profoma (SAPP) ) in nine (9) secondary schools using randomly sampling technique. Data were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, mean score and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between teachers’ professional ethics and instructional performance [r (88) = 0.872, p<0.05, also there is significant relationship between teachers’ instructional tasks performance and students’ academic performance [r (88) = 0.79, p<0.05). The level of teachers’ compliance with professional ethics was high in the components of: punctuality (68.9%), communication skill (63.3%), human relations (61.6%), effective time management (66.6%), adequate knowledge of subject matter (67.8%) and good dressing habit (81.2%). Further findings revealed that teachers prepare their lesson notes promptly (68.9%), conduct continuous assessment (73.3%), maintain good classroom management (66.7%), ensure students’ discipline (81.1%) and participate actively in committees’ work (75.6%). The level of students’ academic performance was above average. Based on the findings, it was concluded that principals should collaborate with other professional bodies to organize intensive and regular seminars/workshops for capacity development of teachers to enhance professional conduct. Also, the state government in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders in the education sector should create enabling environment to enhance teachers’ professional ethical standards and provide adequate learning facilities/materials to boost teachers’ instructional tasks performance and achieve better academic performance of students in secondary schools

This paper contributes a lot to the establishment of education in student learning, especially in improving students' active thinking ability. This is due to the lack of qualified sources of educators and hali is focused on educators, because the ability to manage the class become one of the characteristics of a professional teacher. Professional teachers not only have the ability to manage the class well but also skilled in organizing learners to always play an active role and able to improve achievement in learning. The main task of the teacher is to create an atmosphere in the classroom so that the interaction of teaching and learning can motivate the students to learn well and earnestly. For this reason the teacher should have the ability to do good teaching and learning interactions. One capability that is very important is the ability to manage classes. Teachers with all their abilities, students with all backgrounds and individual traits, curriculum with all its components, and materials and learning resources with all its subjects meet and chime and interact in the classroom. In fact, activities that occur in the classroom determine the outcome of an education and learning. Therefore, good classroom management is needed, effective and efficient for teaching and learning activities to run well and educational objectives can be achieved.
