Abstract
This is the cause of the less than optimal learning to read. The problem in this research is the process and improvement of the use of picture card media to improve the reading skills of RA Perwanida Perak Jombang's early childhood children. This study aims to determine the process of using picture card media and the results of improving reading skills for early childhood at RA Perwanida Perak Jombang. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. Data collection techniques used are observation, tests, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The instrument used was observations made by researchers to determine observations with criteria for early childhood reading skills. The success indicator of this research is used as a guideline or reference as a benchmark in research. The research procedure used is planning, action, observation, and reflection activities.The results of the study were the ability of early childhood reading skills starting from pre-cycle activities, cycle I, cycle II of 13 students, there were 5 students who reached the category of developing as expected, 4 students who reached the category of starting to develop, and 4 students who achieved category has not developed in the pre-cycle assessment stage. Cycle stage of 13 students. 2 students who achieved the well developed category, 4 students who reached the developing category as expected, and 6 students who reached the emerging category, 1 student who reached the category not yet appeared. While in the second cycle of the 13 students, there were 6 students who achieved the well developed category, 6 students who reached the developing category as expected and 1 student who reached the starting to develop category.
