Abstract
Focal mechanism and spectral source parameters of volcano-tectonic earthquakes characterize the source properties of volcano-tectonic earthquakes. It is shown that the focal mechanism of volcano-tectonic earthquakes may be of double-couple and non–double-couple types. The stress field, acting within the swarm of volcano-tectonic earthquake swarm, is usually similar to the regional tectonic stress field. In the course of volcanic activity, the source parameters of volcano-tectonic earthquakes, such as stress drop and the spectral corner frequencies may vary together with the variations in the focal mechanisms. The size of seismotectonic deformation, estimated for the region of the volcanic eruption, agrees with volume of erupted products during the eruption.
