Abstract
The properties of volcano-tectonic earthquake swarms described in Chapters 5 to 7Chapter 5Chapter 6Chapter 7 for 41 eruptions observed at 21 volcanoes are generalized. It is shown that the temporal variations in the number of events during the swarms and the swarm durations are different depending on the type of magma, basaltic, andesitic, or dacitic. The spatial and deep distributions of volcano-tectonic earthquakes within the volcanic structure, the migration of earthquake foci, and the dependence of the epicentral area upon the crustal thickness beneath the volcano are analyzed. Some regularity in the volcano-tectonic earthquake swarms proclaiming reawakening of andesitic and dacitic volcanoes are also presented.
