Abstract

The source classification and separation practice of rural household garbage in typical rural areas named Cannei township is described in Chapter 5. First, the output and composition characteristics of domestic waste are introduced, as well as the status of domestic waste collection, transportation, and treatment in the Cannei township. Second, the awareness and behavior of residents in the demonstration area regarding participation in domestic solid waste classification is investigated. Furthermore, the demonstration project is fully described, including residents’ environmental awareness and satisfaction, improvement of domestic solid waste infrastructure, efficient classification and recycling of recyclable waste, and promotion of rural solid waste reduction. Furthermore, suggestions such as increasing financial investment, establishing relevant rules, regulations, and policies governing the organizational structure, introducing diversified management modes for sustainable environmental, strengthening public education, and building a valuable waste recycling system are provided. When enough labor and investment are put in, it is possible to realize source classification of rural domestic waste, with a significant recovery of valuables and a significant reduction in total quantity.
