Abstract
This chapter provides unbiased information on mechanical separation technologies for aged refuse from municipal solid waste landfills using trommel screeners. Separation characteristics and composition analysis of aged refuse are provided, as is a comprehensive analysis of drum sieving results of aged refuse under different conditions, the relationship between the angle of tumbler sieve inclination and separation of waste of different landfill ages, and the relationship between landfill age and sorting efficiency based on different feed sizes. As a typical example, a drum screen with diameter 600mm, aspect ratio 3, inclination angle 5 degrees, speed 33r/min, aged refuse moisture content 30%, the separation efficiency of aged refuse is as high as 90%. Longer landfill ages and lower moisture will lead to better separation efficiency.
