Abstract

In a criminal trial, the prosecutor serves the interests of the state and not the victim. The role of the victim at trial is therefore not necessarily one of partnership with the prosecutor, but rather one of performance for the judge and jury. They serve to help establish certain elements of the crime through their evidence of injury and any related testimony.
