Abstract

The popular portrayal of the sexual offender often includes the creepy stranger waiting in a dark parking lot, or the scheming child molester using a puppy to lure innocent children. However, the reality is that sexual offenders are more likely to be a person of trust from your family, friends, school, or community. This makes them difficult to identify or accuse, and their victims hard for some to believe.
