Abstract

Victimology—that is, information about a victim, his or her background, actions, and injuries—is a regular feature of civil and criminal trials. This chapter discusses the nature and purpose of forensic victimology in court proceedings. This includes a review of the victim's role at trial and admissibility issues related to victim information; a review of issues related to forensic examiners who might give victimology evidence; and a discussion of different types of forensic examiners who traditionally give victimology evidence at trial.
