O ensaio detem-se na obra fundamental de Raduan Nassar, o romance Lavoura arcaica, buscando compreender as estreitas relacoes que nele se estabelecem entre forma e conteudo. A questao da ordem e da exclusao, bem como a de um sujeito cindido, presente no enredo, encontra resposta na reuniao que, por meio da mistura de generos e do carater circular da narrativa, se materializa na estrutura da obra.
