Abstract
The changing requirements for the scientific and educational performance of Russia's leading universities from the state and society focus on the generation of knowledge that allows for a qualitative transformation of the industrial and socio-economic landscape of the country. At the same time, insufficient scientific elaboration of the issues related to the effectiveness of institutionalization of the generation and commercialization of transformative knowledge in leading universities of the Russian Federation does not allow creating adequate formats for the transfer of knowledge and technology to the reindustrialization of the Russian economy. Without a conceptual justification of different types of knowledge, including the category of transformative knowledge, it is also difficult to identify institutional mechanisms for their operational production and practical application. All this has become the subject of the authors' research focus.
