Abstract
In this study, the historical background, meaning, performance process, and characteristics of the three kingdoms tug-of-war developed in rice farming were compared by exploring tug-of-war in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. First, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam have valued rice farming since BC, and each of the three countries has been steadily passing down tug-of-war based on different historical backgrounds and meanings. Second, all three countries valued rice farming, so they performed tug-of-war after the Lunar New Year and Lunar New Year, or divided the village into two, and all the villagers participated in their own line to pray for a good harvest. Third, although the country and culture are different, there is a common long-standing tradition of tug-of-war in regions that value rice farming.
