Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of learning by Joseon Confucian scholars, focusing on Gyeong as revealed in GyeongdangIlgi. For this purpose, the selfpractice process among the contents of GyeongdangIlgi was examined in relation to progress. GyeongdangIlgi records the daily life of Gyeongdang Jang Heung-hyo (1564-1633), a Confucian scholar in the mid-Joseon Dynasty, and the content about his studies shows his self-practice process. This study is significant in that it is desperately necessary to recover the process of self-cultivation and the function of self-purification to overcome egoism and egocentrism in an era of loss of humanity.
