A probabilistic reliable linguistic model for blockchain-based student information management system assessment

The growing necessity for robust security and trust in systems has prompted the widespread adoption of blockchain technology in student information management systems (SIMS). While existing literature has concentrated on the development of blockchain-based student information management systems (BC-SIMS), a notable gap remains in the evaluation of these systems. This study addresses this gap by employing a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach. Recognizing the inherent uncertainties in BC-SIMS evaluation due to inadequate information, the study introduces the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic Term Sets (PRLTSs) theory to address these problems. As a result, the Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to the Compromise Solution (MARCOS) method is extended into the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic environment, resulting in the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic-Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to the Compromise Solution (PRL-MARCOS) method. This method supports the evaluation and selection decisions on BC-SIMS in higher education institutions. The study further designs the Probabilistic Reliable Linguistic-Coefficient of Variation (PRL-CV) method to determine the relative importance of selection criteria. Twenty selection criteria for BC-SIMS are identified through a literature review, and an illustrative case study is employed to assess the practicality and validity of the proposed PRL-CV-MARCOS approach in a higher educational institution. Experimental results highlight cost reduction (0.0778), interoperability (0.0717), security (0.0628), service improvement (0.0557) and responsiveness (0.0538) as the top five criteria for BC-SIMS selection, with BC-SIMS P5 identified as the optimal solution for managing student information. Finally, a comprehensive comparative and sensitivity analysis verifies the stability and effectiveness of the proposed decision support model.

Exploring student information management system adoption post pandemic: Case of Turkish higher education

Many aspects of our lives have changed during the pandemic including the accelerated adoption of technologies. Education was one of the segments that was disrupted by the pandemic, therefore Student Information Systems became critical at that time. This paper explores the adoption of Student Information Management Systems in multiple Turkish universities. The research model was adopted from a study conducted in the US, which is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. More than three hundred students from seventeen universities responded, and the results indicated key factors of adoption. Furthermore, differences with the case in the US were identified.

Evaluating Students’ User Experience on Student Management Information Systems

Studies evaluating students’ UX of applications that will influence their continuance use of educational systems in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) have not been sufficiently addressed in the African region, specifically in Ghana. Thus, conducting a study on students’ UX of systems in HEIs will enhance students’ interest in continuing to use such systems. Therefore, this study examines students’ user experience (UX) and how it impacts their continued use of the Student Management Information System (SMIS). The study proposed a research model by integrating user experience questionnaire (UEQ) constructs with continuance intention to use. The study adopted an online questionnaire to collect data from 415 students at Koforidua Technical University (KTU). The partial least square-structural equation model (PLS-SEM) method was used to evaluate the proposed model’s reliability, validity, and relationship among the constructs. The UEQ data analysis tool was used in analysing the data. The study’s findings showed that attractiveness, perspicuity, efficiency, stimulation, and novelty significantly influenced students’ continuance intention to use the SMIS. However, dependability did not significantly affect students’ continuance intention to use the SMIS. Also, the study’s findings on the benchmark results showed that attractiveness, perspicuity, and stimulation were categorized as good, while dependability, efficiency, and novelty were categorized as excellent. These findings offer valuable insights for UX designers and developers aiming to create engaging and intuitive SMIS solutions. Also, it will provide students feedback on system UX that can be incorporated into future release updates. Furthermore, this research contributes significantly to the understanding of student UX with SMIS in developing country HEIs and its impact on continued usage.

Design of Internship Student Management Information System with Software Development Life Cycle Approach

<p class="Abstract">This research is motivated by the absence of an information system concerning the placement of student internships. This is attributed to the diverse backgrounds of students at the H. Agus Salim Institute of Technology and Business (ITB), comprising three different classes. For regular morning students, internship placements can be tailored to their field of study. However, for evening students (regular two) and weekend students (regular three), who are individuals already employed in government institutions and private companies, determining suitable internship locations becomes challenging. This is because the tasks performed in these institutions and companies may not align with the academic disciplines studied by the students during their academic tenure. In the design of this internship information system, the researcher adopts the Incremental model, which is one of the models in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Functional suitability testing, compatibility testing, usability testing, and validity testing were conducted on the internship management information system. The test results, carried out by one expert, yielded a functional suitability score of 94%, categorized as excellent. The capability test, also conducted by one expert, resulted in a score of 80%, categorized as very good. Usability testing, conducted by seven experts, yielded a score of 80.6%. Validity testing, carried out by three validators, resulted in a score of 0.86, categorized as highly valid.</p>

Assessment of the Impacts of Cyber Security on Student Information Management Systems

The pervasive use of technology in education has posed a security challenge that could jeopardise student data and educational institutions' reputations, necessitating a thorough investigation. This study explores the impact of cybersecurity on Ruaha Catholic University's Student Information Management System. The research mainly employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires administered to a diverse sample of 374 individuals, encompassing students and staff. In addition, a qualitative method was used to acquire data on the organisation's readiness to prevent cybersecurity threats from key informants, including system administrators and top management personnel. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software analysed the quantitative data using descriptive analysis. The study's results underscore the pressing need to develop effective cybersecurity mechanisms in the education sector, specifically focusing on enhancing the security of Ruaha Catholic University's Student Information Management System. The study recommends formulating and implementing robust cybersecurity strategies to safeguard student information, fortify system resilience, and bolster the institution's overall cybersecurity posture.

Construction of Student Information Management System for Universities Based on Cloud Computing Platform

Abstract The first step in this paper is to establish an integrated education information management platform that utilizes cloud computing as the scheduling center, considering the characteristics of cloud computing. The hierarchical structure of the student information management system and each business function module is designed using the B/S three-layer architecture. The fitness function evaluates individual merit based on K-means teaching data to ensure the genetic algorithm’s population diversity. The analysis model of university teaching data is constructed using the penalty function of chromosomes. The final test results show that when the network data transmission time reaches the 60s, the average network data traffic consumed is 260Byte, which indicates that the constructed student information management system has wide applicability.

Design and Management of Comprehensive Art Student Information Database from the Perspective of Internet plus Education

With the rapid development of information technology and network technology, all kinds of data increase exponentially, and the traditional relational databases cannot handle these data well, which is also reflected in the sharp increase in the number of college students. The amount of students' information is increasing exponentially and the simple management method in the past can no longer meet the needs of the new situation. This paper adopts B/S mode and three-tier architecture and relies on network technology and ASP.NET technology to design and implement the student information management system. The system is divided into eight functional modules: comprehensive information inquiry for students, scholarship evaluation, evaluation and award, economic recognition, student loan management, student violation, communication and feedback, and system management. Different operation interfaces are designed according to four users with different permissions: students, class tutors, college administrators, and student affairs offices. This paper describes the system analysis, design, and implementation in detail. The practice results show that the initial use of the student information database management reflects well and achieves the expected goal. The system is easy to maintain and extensible and has good application value. The operation of the system has greatly improved the management efficiency of student affairs and enabled the student affairs administrators to complete various student affairs more efficiently. Campus information construction is becoming an important part of the overall construction of colleges and universities, and it is also a basic and continuous work. Accelerating the establishment of a set of comprehensive, perfect, and efficient student comprehensive management information systems is an urgent need to promote the modernization of college student management. The modernization, informatization, and standardization of college student management are a complex systematic project. The Security of Student Information Management System Based upon Blockchain

In recent years, with the development of science and technology, as an emerging data security technology, blockchain has been widely used in all walks of life by virtue of its immutability, uniqueness, smart contract, and decentralized organization. Examples include industry, services, and education. With the progress of China's education, the application of blockchain technology in the field of education has also been further expanded. At present, the application of blockchain in China's education field is mainly concentrated in three areas: education resource management, teaching information management, and education basic platform construction. This article aims to study the security of the student information management system based on the blockchain. The security test experiment of the student information management system is carried out based on the encryption algorithm of the blockchain, and conclusions are drawn. The security of the student information management system based on the encryption algorithm of blockchain technology has increased by 87%, which also shows that the blockchain technology has a better effect on improving the security of the student information management system.
