Nontrivial solutions for a Hadamard fractional integral boundary value problem

<abstract><p>In this paper, we studied a Hadamard-type fractional Riemann-Stieltjes integral boundary value problem. The existence of nontrivial solutions was obtained by using the fixed-point method when the nonlinearities can be superlinear, suberlinear, and have asymptotic linear growth. Our results improved and generalized some results of the existing literature.</p></abstract>

Hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation for processing biological substrates and plant material

The work presents a hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation, in which it is possible to simultaneously process biological substrates and plant material. A general view of the hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation and a mathematical model of the technological unit for thermal microwave processing of plant material are presented. The results of experimental studies of the heat treatment of plant material in a hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation are presented. Purpose of the study: To conduct experimental studies of the processing modes of plant material in a hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation. Methodology: The design and development of a hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation for thermal processing of plant material and non-thermal processing of biological substrates is based on the solution of a consistent boundary value problem of electrodynamics and heat and mass transfer. Results: As a result of experimental studies on the heat treatment of plant material in a hybrid microwave electrotechnological installation, the preferred processing modes were determined, resulting in a uniform change in the temperature and humidity of the plant material and a reduction in processing time.

LYAPUNOV-TYPE INEQUALITY FOR CERTAIN HALF-LINEAR LOCAL FRACTIONAL ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

In this paper, we establish a Lyapunov-type inequality for the half-linear local fractional ordinary differential equation based on the formulation of the local fractional derivative. In addition, we apply the inequality to investigate the non-existence and uniqueness of solutions for related homogeneous and non-homogeneous local fractional boundary value problems.

Fractional differential equation with movable boundary conditions

In this research paper, we discuss the complex-valued solutions for the nonlinear fractional boundary value problem (FBVP) of complex order (δ = τ + ιa; 1 < τ ≤ 2, a ∈ R+) with movable boundary conditions. The fractional operators are taken in the sense of Riemann-Liouville (R-L) with complex order. By using the concept of Green’s function, the existence and uniqueness of solutions are established in this article. Also, we prove that the FBVP of complex order with movable boundary conditions is Ulam-Hyers Stable. Using illustrative examples, the results for this nonlinear FBVP have been shown.

Qualitative properties of weighted fourth order elliptic problems

Qualitative properties of nonnegative solutions of weighted fourth order elliptic problems arising from the equations on singular manifolds with conical metrics are studied. The weights may be singular in the domains. We obtain the uniqueness of positive radial solution of the Navier boundary value problem in the ball $ B $ and its exact regularity at the singular point $ x = 0 $, which determines the exact regularity of the unique positive radial solution in $ B $. We also establish the Liouville type results for the equation on $ \mathbb{R}^N \backslash \{0\} $.

Nonlinear contractions on directed graphs with applications to boundary value problems

<abstract><p>This article contains some outcomes on fixed points for a graph preserving nonlinear contraction in a metric space endued with a transitive directed graph. Our results improved, enriched, and subsumed various known fixed point theorems. To argue for reliability of our results, we presented two examples. We concluded the manuscript to investigate a unique solution of a certain first-order boundary value problem by means of our results.</p></abstract>

Positive Solutions for a Fractional Boundary Value Problem with Lidstone Like Boundary Conditions

We consider a higher order fractional boundary value problem with Lidstone like boundary conditions, where the nonlinearity is an L1-Carathèodory function. We first consider the lower order problem. Then, by using a convolution to construct the Green’s function for the higher order problem, we are able to apply a recent fixed point theorem to show the existence of positive solutions of the boundary value problem.

Solutions and anti-periodic solutions for impulsive differential equations and inclusions containing Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative of order $ \zeta \in (1, 2) $ in infinite dimensional Banach spaces

<abstract><p>In this paper, we improved recent results on the existence of solutions for nonlinear fractional boundary value problems containing the Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative of order $ \zeta \in (1, 2) $. We also derived the exact relations between these fractional boundary value problems and the corresponding fractional integral equations in infinite dimensional Banach spaces. We showed that the continuity assumption on the nonlinear term of these equations is insufficient, give the derived expression for the solution, and present two results about the existence and uniqueness of the solution. We examined the case of impulsive impact and provide some sufficiency conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution in these cases. We also demonstrated the existence and uniqueness of anti-periodic solution for the studied problems and considered the problem when the right-hand side was a multivalued function. Examples were given to illustrate the obtained results.</p></abstract>

Boyd-Wong type functional contractions under locally transitive binary relation with applications to boundary value problems

<abstract><p>The area of metric fixed point theory applied to relational metric spaces has received significant attention since the appearance of the relation-theoretic contraction principle. In recent times, a number of fixed point theorems addressing the various contractivity conditions in the relational metric space has been investigated. Such results are extremely advantageous in solving a variety of boundary value problems, matrix equations, and integral equations. This article offerred some fixed point results for a functional contractive mapping depending on a control function due to Boyd and Wong in a metric space endued with a local class of transitive relations. Our findings improved, developed, enhanced, combined and strengthened several fixed point theorems found in the literature. Several illustrative examples were delivered to argue for the reliability of our findings. To verify the relevance of our findings, we conveyed an existence and uniqueness theorem regarding the solution of a first-order boundary value problem.</p></abstract>

Maclaurin Series Solution for Seventh Order Boundary Value Problems

Maclaurin series expansion which is taught at undergraduate levels and which has been previously used for the solution of initial value problem is successfully used in this paper for the solutions of seventh-order boundary value problems. The governing equation defined between boundary points 0 and 1is differentiated to get high order derivatives and the assumed solution is expanded in Maclaurin series then, the boundary conditions at x=1 are utilized to determined unknown coefficients. The method is simple and the numerical results displayed on the tables were found to be in good agreement with the solution and even better than some existing results in the literature. This agreement is also confirmed from the figures were the graph of exact solution and approximate solution overlap.

Surface–dislocation interaction by various models of surface elasticity

The effect of applying different surface elasticity models related to the Gurtin–Murdoch and Steigmann–Ogden theories to the problem on an interaction of a dislocation row with a flat surface of a semi-infinite three-dimensional body is analyzed in the paper. The boundary conditions in the case of an arbitrary shape of a cylindrical surface under the plane strain are derived within the framework of the Steigmann–Ogden model involving all simplified versions of the Gurtin–Murdoch model and the Gurtin–Murdoch model itself. The boundary condition used in the paper for the flat surface is a particular case of the general one. The analytical solution of the corresponding boundary value problem is obtained in the paper in a closed form for the elastic field. Based on this solution, some numerical examples of the stress distribution at the surface and the image force acting on each dislocation are presented. It is shown that incorporating the bending resistance of the surface in the Steigmann–Ogden model leads to the decrease of some stresses and increase the other ones at the surface and to the decrease of the image force, as compared with those obtained by the Gurtin–Murdoch membrane theory of the surface.

Existence of solutions for fractional boundary value problems with Riesz space derivative and nonlocal conditions

"By using the fixed-point theorems, we give sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the nonlocal fractional boundary value problem of nonlinear Riesz-Caputo differential equation. The boundedness assumption on the nonlinear term is replaced by growth conditions or by a continuous function. Finally, some examples are presented to illustrate the applications of the obtained results. NONLINEAR TWO-POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR A SECOND ORDER IMPULSIVE SYSTEM OF INTEGRO-DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH MIXED MAXIMA

A two-point nonlinear boundary value problem for a second order system of ordinary integro-differential equations with impulsive effects and mixed maxima is investigated. By applying some transformations is obtained a system of nonlinear functional integral equations. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of the nonperiodic two-point boundary value problem are reduced to the one valued solvability of the system of nonlinear functional integral equations in Banach space . The method of successive approximations in combination with the method of compressing mapping is used in the proof of one-valued solvability of nonlinear functional integral equations.

The boundary value problem for the two-dimensional Laplace equation with transmission conditions given on open Lipschitz curve

We consider boundary value problem for Laplace equation in bounded two-dimensional Lipschitz domain with transmission boundary condition given upon open curve. This conditions includes itself the jump of solution of boundary value problem and the meaning of boundary value of its normal derivative. We prove the equivalence of considered boundary value problem and obtained variational problem. As a result we prove existence and uniqueness of solution of the posed problems in appropriate functional spaces. Based on the integral representation of the solution the considered boundary value problem is reduced to the system of boundary integral equation which has unique solution.

Formulation and Numerical Solution of Plane Problems of the Theory of Elasticity in Strains

This article is devoted to the formulation and numerical solution of boundary-value problems in the theory of elasticity with respect to deformations. Similar to the well-known Beltrami–Michell stress equations, the Saint-Venant compatibility conditions are written in the form of differential equations for strains. A new version of plane boundary-value problems in strains is formulated. It is shown that for the correctness of plane boundary value problems, in addition to the usual conditions, one more special boundary condition is required using the equilibrium equation. To discretize additional boundary conditions and differential equations, it is convenient to use the finite difference method. By resolving grid equations and additional boundary conditions with respect to the desired quantities at the diagonal nodal points, we obtained convergent iterative relations for the internal and boundary nodes. To solve grid equations, the elimination method was also used. By comparing with the Timoshenko–Goodyear solution on the tension of a rectangular plate with a parabolic load, the validity of the formulated boundary value problems in strains and the reliability of the numerical results are shown. The accuracy of the results has been increased by an average of 15%.

On the reduction of an autonomous nonlinear boundary value problem, unsolved with respect to the derivative, to the first-order critical case

Constructive solvability conditions and a scheme for constructing solutions of an autonomous nonlinear boundary value problem unsolved with respect to the derivative have been found. A convergent iterative scheme for finding approximations to the solutions of a nonlinear autonomous nonlinear boundary value problem unsolved with respect to the derivative was constructed by reducing the problem to the first-order critical case. As an example of application of the constructed iterative scheme, approximations to the solutions of a periodic boundary value problem for the autonomous Lotka-Volterra equation were determined.

On divergence type linear and quasilinear equations in the complex plane

This is a survay of our recent results concerning divergence type linear and quasilinear equations in the complex plane. It contains a number of existence, representation and regularity theorems for solutions of fundamental boundary value problems for such equations. The degeneration case of uniform ellipticity is also covered by means of BMO, VMO, Calderon-Zigmund, Lehto and Orlicz technic.

Approximate Solutions of Nonlinear Boundary Value Problems by Collocation Methods Compared to Newer Methods

A large variety of new methods are being developed for fast and efficient solutions of nonlinear boundary value problems. Some of these methods are, Adomian decomposition (ADM), differential transform (DTM), least squares vector machines (LSSVMM), and multiple variational iteration (MVIM). A natural question arises as to how efficient and simple to use these newer methods are compared to classical methods. One of the simplest and widely applicable classical methods is the collocation method. The overall performance of collocation method and the newer methods are compared on a number of problems, which were previously used to benchmark the newer methods. It is concluded that, at least for the problems considered, the collocation method performs as successfully as the newer methods.

Raznostnye skhemy dekompozitsii na osnove rasshchepleniya resheniya i operatora zadachi

Domain decomposition methods are used for the approximate solution of boundary value problems for partial differential equations on parallel computing systems. The specifics of nonstationary problems is most completely taken into account when using noniterative domain decomposition schemes. Regionally additive schemes are constructed on the basis of various classes of splitting schemes. A new class of domain decomposition schemes with an additive representation of the solution on a new time level is distinguished that is based on splitting the domain into subdomains based on a partition of unity. An example of the Cauchy problem for first-order evolution equations with a positive self-adjoint operator in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space is considered. Unconditionally stable two- and three-level splitting schemes are constructed for the corresponding system of equations.
