Introduction. Police officer's communicative readiness is made up of their knowledge, skills and abilities as well as their skills in using modern communication technologies. Aim. To substantiate the role of communicative competence and modern communication technologies in the work of patrol police. Results. The author discusses the components of communicative competence and their role in the work of patrol police as well as analyzes the communicative readiness of patrol police officers and the main factors in the development of their professional competence. Conclusions. Using certain state-of-the-art communication techniques, patrol officers can avoid most conflicts and remain stress-resistant in their work.

유아교사의 공감능력과 직무만족도의 관계에서 의사소통 능력의 매개효과

본 연구는 유아교사의 공감능력과 의사소통 능력이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 공감능력과 직무만족도의 관계에서 의사소통 능력이 매개 역할을 하는지 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권에 소재한 유아교육 기관에 근무하는 유아교사 250명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하고, SPSS와 PROCESS macro 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계분석, 차이분석, 상관관계 분석, 위계적 회귀분석 및 매개효과 검증을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 유아교사의 연령, 결혼 여부, 근무기관 유형, 최종학력, 급여 수준에 따라 직무만족도에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유아교사의 공감능력, 의사소통 능력, 직무만족도 간에는 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였으며, 유아교사의 배경 변인, 공감능력 및 의사소통 능력은 직무만족도 분산의 35.9%를 설명하였다. 매개효과 검증 결과, 의사소통 능력은 공감능력과 직무만족도 사이에서 완전매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

Revisiting the impression management model: the mediating role of net benefits, the moderating role of communication competence, and the importance of mutual-face concern

ABSTRACT This manuscript reports the results of an empirical study that used the impression management model (IMM) to examine likelihood of channel use (among face-to-face, phone, and texting) in parent–child relationships. Drawing from face-negotiation theory, we recast the model in terms of face concern. Results of a survey of 715 participants indicated that mutual-face concern served as a particularly potent predictor of channel preferences. Channel net benefits mediated the association between the IMM predictors (i.e., face concern and valence) and likelihood of channel use, with communication competence serving as a weak moderator of several IMM predictors (specifically, other-face concern, mutual-face concern, and valence). These results highlight the importance of mutual-face concern in evaluating channel options, and also suggest that channel choice may have more to do with the avoidance of the risk of synchronous communication than a draw to the control of mediated channels.

The objective need of modern society is to find the best ways to organize the educational process, rational options for teaching content and its structure. Strengthening the communicative orientation in teaching foreign languages is reflected, among other things, in the approach to learning grammar. At present, it is not just a matter of knowing the language, but of being able to use it in real communication, i.e. on the practical knowledge of t2he language and, consequently, on the development of “communicative competence”. At the same time, grammatical skills take a leading place in the process of achieving this goal. The problem of methods in teaching the grammatical side of speech seems to be one of the most urgent. It is necessary to use such methods of teaching the grammatical side of speech that would meet modern requirements. One such method is functional. The article presents a systematic description of the strategy of functionally directed learning to the grammatical side of speech; provides a rationale for the leading role of communicative competence in achieving the goal of practical knowledge of a foreign language and language competence, its component part — grammar.

Political Expression on Social Media: The Role of Communication Competence and Expected Outcomes

The use of social media sites for political expression has added a new layer to the study of political discussion. In this type of user-generated content applications, interpersonal and mass-mediated types of communication converge in one medium. Therefore, in this study, we bring together insights from interpersonal communication theories and mass communication models that predict online expression, adding explanatory power to this form of political participation. Specifically, we contribute to the understanding of social media political expression by examining the influence of communication competence and expected outcomes on expressive behaviors. Results of a representative survey of the adult urban population of Colombian Facebook ( n = 598) and Twitter ( n = 185) users, suggest that social media communication competence and expected status, novelty, and social outcomes influence political expression on social media. Furthermore, users’ social media political expression expected outcomes through Facebook and Twitter differ. This study illustrates the important role that interpersonal communication factors have for social media political discussion, and the difference between users’ expectations when they express their political views through different social media platforms.

The Role of Communication Competence in Buffering Against the Negative Effects of Alcohol-Related Social Networking Site Usage

College students’ alcohol-related social networking site (SNS) usage is associated with alcohol problems; however, individual factors that increase this risk are less understood. We posit the degree to which students experience alcohol problems related to their SNS usage hinges upon how skillfully they manage their communication on SNS. As such, we focus on how SNS competence predicts students’ SNS usage and subsequent alcohol problems. We analyzed data collected from 364 undergraduate students and found support for SNS competence serving a moderating role between alcohol-related SNS behavior and alcohol problems. SNS competence—appropriateness in particular—buffers against the negative effects of alcohol-related SNS use. Our research offers several theoretical implications and practical applications for social media literacy-based drinking interventions.

ОСОБЕННОСТИ РАЗВИТИЯ ОБРАЗНОСТИ РЕЧИ СТАРШИХ ДОШКОЛЬНИКОВ НА МАТЕРИАЛЕ МЕТАФОРИЧЕСКИХ ЗАГАДОК

The issue of formation of speech culture of senior preschoolers is one of the most important tasks of modern education. The paper shows the role of communicative competence as the tool for the socialization of a preschooler personality, mental formation and development of thinking of senior preschoolers. The author says about the comprehensiveness of the notion of “imagery” in modern science, notes that the emotional-expressive tone becomes the unique characteristic of imagery speech. The paper pays particular attention to the senior preschool age as the most sensitive period of formation of imagery speech and understanding of imagery means by the senior preschoolers using the material of metaphorical riddles. The process of development of speech imagery of senior preschool children on the material of metaphorical riddles is the subject of the study. The paper analyzes the data of ascertaining experiment, which was aimed at the study of special aspects of understanding and application of metaphors and other imagery means by senior preschool children. The author gives the results of the experiment showing the nature of difficulties during the interpretation of metaphors by children and self-selection of metaphors for the description of an object. In particular, the author notes the difficulties in understanding the figurative meanings of the words, recognition of metaphor in the text, understanding its figurative meaning and difficulties in creation own metaphorical riddles. These data allow making the conclusion that children under test have the insufficient level of development of speech imagery. At the same time, the individual cases of proper metaphor interpretation allow assuming that the formation of imagery speech of preschool children is possible using metaphorical riddles. The development of linguo-motivational space through the use of modern interactive methods and pedagogical techniques is the precondition for such formation.
