The Analysis and Inheritance of Chinese Grand Canal Culture from the View of Positive Psychology

The deep psychological connotation conveyed by the Chinese Grand Canal culture contains people’s explicit or potential positive qualities. Because of this inheritance, human beings not only maintain a kind of self-esteem in the fierce struggle for existence, but also play a dominant role in the social system composed of other life forms. It also enables human society to develop in a way that all things coexist in most cases. The connotation of Chinese Grand Canal culture at the psychological level coincides with people’s positive psychological pursuit. This paper explores the deep psychological causes and changes of Chinese Grand Canal culture from the subjective level, individual level and group level of positive psychology. By analyzing the positive psychological pursuit of Chinese Grand Canal culture and combining with the mainstream culture, the paper explores the inheritance and application of positive psychological perspective of Chinese Grand Canal culture.

A Comparative Study of The Palace of Versailles and Imperial Garden Yuanmingyuan

The Palace of Versailles was constructed in the enchanting city of Paris, while the majestic Yuanmingyuan was erected in the imperial capital of Beijing. Built during the same era, they serve as splendid exemplars of Western and Eastern royal gardens and architectural marvels respectively. The purpose of this paper is to compare the Palace of Versailles and the Imperial Garden Yuanmingyuan, two historic royal palaces, and discuss the differences in their construction background, planning layout, architectural style and garden features. Because of the disparity in the personalities of the two emperors, the palace possesses its own distinctive attributes. The Palace of Versailles is famous for its magnificent architecture and French gardens, which demonstrated the power and luxury of Louis XIV; the Yuanmingyuan, on the other hand, is famous for its unique Chinese garden style and exquisite architectural complex, which reflects Emperor Kangxis love and pursuit of traditional Chinese culture. By comparing the two palaces, we can better understand the differences in architecture and garden design across diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as their profound impact on architecture styles, landscaping techniques and cultural heritage.

Transdisciplinary humanities for social transformation

Abstract The new degree in the Global Digital Humanities has been launched by the Faculty of Humanities and Education at Mondragon University on its new urban campus of Bilbao AS Fabrik. In a time of increasing urbanisation, universities must reflect on their relationship to surrounding cities and regions and develop ways to incorporate the urban and regional setting in their educational offerings. This BA shows the value of a transdisciplinary Action Research approach in facing complex social challenges and contributing to innovative social transformations in the city and region. The new campus also marks the beginning of an internal university process to develop mutual knowledge and greater permeability between different degree programmes in pursuit of a new organisational culture and practice that moves beyond narrow disciplinary models.

Islamic culture has been on a steady decline from the time of the prophet, who ushered in its golden age. A factor contributing to Islamic stagnation was the emergence of Western nations that colonized Islamic nations. In their imperialistic pursuit of power, wealth, culture, and politics, Western nations prey on Islamic nations. Consequently, it is intriguing to examine their colonization of Islamic nations. My goal in writing this paper is to gain a better understanding of the reasons behind western colonization of Islamic countries. I hope that all students in Indonesia, and particularly those at UINSU, will read it and be inspired to work towards a world where Islamic countries no longer face colonization from the West.. Library research is the methodology employed in this article. There was a lengthy period of Islamic stagnation due to the colonization of the archipelago by western powers. This was accompanied by devastating conflicts, economic and social inequalities, the loss of native culture and civilization, and the introduction of Christianity. Due in part to the fact that Islamic countries are unable to stand up to Western colonization on their own, Islam has been unable to advance in recent centuries. Economic, social, political, and legal decisions may all stem from the need for prior permission from the federal government in order to pass legislation pertaining to a state. A number of indigenous peoples' desires to secede from their colonial masters emerged in response to Western colonialism. Some of the colonized states that rose up in opposition to the occupying power were successful in becoming independent nations, while others were unable to do so due to the superior military might of the colonial power.

한국 시청자의 중국 드라마 시청 선호 요인에 관한 Q 방법론 연구

With the continued development of the media, the spread of multicultural dramas has become a common concern of the drama industry, and the export of dramas has become an important way to improve the culture of countries around the world. Currently, Chinese costume drama is actively consumed through OTT platforms, such as remakes in Korea. In order to maintain this desire of Korean viewers, the subjective viewing preference factors of Korean viewers were analyzed using the Q methodology and based on this, implications for the entry of Chinese costume drama into Korea were presented.
 As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the factors that Korean viewers prefer to watch Chinese costume dramas were divided into types that prefer traditional historical dramas and types that prefer fusion historical dramas. Cultural curiosity is the preferred factor in the pursuit of traditional culture that likes traditional historical dramas based on cultural similarities. Based on cultural similarities, fusion historical dramas can be divided into visual effect-seeking types that prefer colorful production environments and fandom-seeking types that prefer to like actors, and content excellence is the preferred factor. It can be seen that this is an individual's subjective taste in which various factors of preference for Chinese costume drama appear depending on the viewing tendency.
 This study is meaningful in presenting the factors of Korean viewers' preference for viewing differently depending on the preference for viewing traditional historical dramas and fusion historical dramas in the production environment of Chinese costume drama.

MOVING FROM BUREAUCRACY TO ADHOCRACY: AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TOWARDS TORWARDS AN IMPROVED OPERATIONS STRATEGY

This review paper seeks to analyse and elucidate on the depth and extent of public sector managers’ involvement in creating, inculcating and sustaining an innovative culture in their public spheres thus shifting from bureaucracy and adopting an adhocratic organisational culture. This process involved a systematic review, synthesis and analysis of several articles, journals and books as a n exhaustive review of literature. A selection of articles and journals articulating the concepts of bureaucracy, adhocracy and public sector innovation were analysed. This analysis revealed that there is a paradigm shift in the organisational culture, design and strategy of some public sector organisations and institutions as they seemingly incorporate bureaucracy, adhocracy and innovation as an endeavour to adapt to the dynamic nature of the public service and as a mechanism to enhance organisational functionality and capability of the state to deliver services. This paper further establishes a glaring and inherent relationship between adhocracy culture and strategy implementation as outlined and described in Quin’s theory of Competing Values Framework (CVF) supported by McKinsey 7S Framework. This paper analyses the current highly bureaucratised public sector can implement and infuse in their organisational structure, operations and culture adhocracies towards the realisation of the public sector innovation concept. The analysed articles are relevant and befitting to the topic as they link bureaucracy and adhocracy and how a possible shift can bring about an innovative and creative public service. A qualitative research approach was used where existing literature collected as research empiricism and the empirical findings of the articles were documented. This review paper is novel because it seeks to contribute to the current debate in the literature of public sector innovation through the use adhocracy and bureaucracy. This paper concludes that there is a symbiotic relationship between adhocracy, strategy implementation and innovation It recommends that the leadership and management of public sector organisations should work towards a structure of establishing a structure that accommodates adhocracy within their organisation as a recipe for effective strategy implementation and innovation. Both operational and strategic levels of leadership and management should be structured such an adhocratic culture within the organisation prevails in order to drive innovation through a paradigm shift from a bureaucratic approach to an innovative culture through adhocracy. Implications of this paper include a revision of the Department of Public Service Administration’s Operations Management Framework operations strategy to entail adhocracy as a central tenet in formulating the Service Delivery Model, Service Delivery Improvement Plan and Organisational structure design. This paper further recommends a similar survey to be undertaken in individual government departments and further pursuit of adhocracy culture in other semi government organisations to test appositeness.

The ‘European Capital of Culture’ program, which was operated mainly in Western Europe, expanded its scope after 2004 when Eastern European countries joined as member countries. The ‘expansion’ of the European Union, which has been maintained in terms of politics and economy, will turn into a ‘internalization’ that confirms Europe’s civilization and identity through this cultural initiative. The European Union has begun to overcome the tiredness of integration and the sense of distance of identity with the keyword of culture. Exchanges between East and West Europe, which began on the basis of economic and political cooperation, expanded in various fields. In addition to the symbolism of ‘Eastward advance of Western Europe’ and ‘Westward advance of Eastern Europe’, this suggests the restoration of ‘one Europe’.
 The ‘European Capital of Culture’, which seeks to imply the universal human value of the pursuit of civilization and culture by unifying the diversified European society with one code called ‘city’, has positively impacted Sibiu's economic effect, and it also created an opportunity to promote not only the city, but also Romania's cultural identity and historical heritage to the world. ‘Culturenomics’, which combines culture and economy, and the sharing of urban culture based on history and civilization, gave Romania an opportunity for ‘cultural integration’ to take a step closer to Europe, beyond ‘political integration’ symbolized by NATO membership in 2004 and ‘economic integration’ through EU membership in 2007.

Comparison of Characteristics of Female Images in Russian and Chinese Rural Prose

The article compares systematically the works of Russian rural prose school and Chinese Beijing school from the point of view of reflection of female image in the works, analyzes the similarities and differences between them, as well as the reasons for their emergence from the position of comparative literary typology, taking into account the ontology of creativity. The village is the land where Russian and Chinese cultures grew and flourished, and rural literature written in the village gained a high reputation in both Russia and China during the period of great social transformations. The subject of the study is the characteristics of women's images in Russian and Chinese literature. The aim of the work is to analyze and compare female images in authors from Russia and China. Research methods – analysis of literary sources on the topic of research. Results of the research: the study of literary works from Russia and China on the theme of rural life was carried out, the portrayal of the female image by the authors of the two countries was compared. Conclusion. The works show an attempt to transform society through the pursuit of traditional culture and morality, in order to achieve an ideal state of society, full of love and freedom. The similarity of national-cultural narratives, themes and artistic styles makes the works of the Russian rural prose school comparable to the works of the Chinese Beijing school of simple fiction, but the differences between the historical and cultural background, religious beliefs and poetic soil of Russia and China make the works of these two schools of writing somewhat different.

Establishing understanding and disseminating value—On the structure, problems and strategies of Chinese culture in the new era

The three-dimensional structure of Chinese culture is embodied in: cultural works-value association-lifestyle. Culture is mainly formed on the basis of the people's way of life. However, the disadvantages of Chinese cultural communication in the new era are mainly manifested in the "work-led" content, single communication subject and communication platform, and the inability to recognize and understand the value pursuit and importance of Chinese culture going out. In order to better go out of Chinese culture, aiming at the three strategies of "content, subject and platform", it provides the direction of thinking for the pattern of external communication and the problem of Chinese culture going out.

The community college: Building a culture of assessment

AbstractThis article examines the impetus and benefit of establishing a strong assessment culture at the community college level––institutions serving incredibly diverse student populations with fewer resources than their 4‐year counterparts. Best practices and lessons learned from a suburban Chicago community college serve as an example for other community colleges to assist in their pursuit of a strong assessment culture. In order to be successful in its implementation and long‐term health, community college assessment within the student affairs level must be student‐focused while carefully leveraging limited resources.

포스트하위문화 관점의 한국 타투문화

This study investigated the phenomenon of modern people enjoying tattoo culture in Korea from the perspective of post subculture. A qualitative study was conducted using both literature review and in-depth interview methods. For post-subculture perspectives, the theories of Maffesoli (2017) and Thornton (1996), which are suitable for interpreting contemporary tattoo culture, were reviewed in terms of seven concepts: sporadic network, grouping, fluid participation, temporary emotional bond, self-distinction, pursuit of underground culture, and display and concealment. Semi-structured questionnaires were constructed and administered based on the organized characteristics. Five cultural qualities of the tattoo phenomenon in Korea were derived based on post-subculture concepts. Sporadic formation is related to the pattern of inflow into tattoo culture, and “streaming” participation is based on fluid participation and temporary ties. Distinction within subculture is based on self-distinction and pursuit of underground. The costume-playing ordinary concept includes the characteristic of controlling the exposure of tattoos in society. Finally, formation of the consumer tattoo market was newly discovered in Korean tattoo culture.

The exotropia food safety cultural conundrum: A case study of a UK fish high-risk processing company

Food safety continues to be a challenge worldwide despite scientific advances, continuous improvement in food safety management systems and increasing academic debate on food safety. This paper aims to validate a new model of food safety cultural compliance to identify the challenges that organisations face in their pursuit of a positive food safety culture. A mixed-method approach was adopted via the quantitative analysis of a stage one ‘Enlighten Questionnaire’ involving 202 respondents using parametric statistics (ANOVA with appropriate Post-Hoc tests and t-tests). Hochberg's GT2 was used for the Post-Hoc tests due to different group sizes and appropriate non-parametric tests were also run to confirm these results. Qualitative analysis of stage two semi-structured interviews totalling 40 participants and stage three focus groups each consisting of 3 groups of 9 employees equating to 27 participants was utilised. Thematic analysis was adopted to synthesise and cluster key themes. Our findings identify the misalignment of management and employees in the pursuit of establishing and embedding a positive food safety culture. Four key themes of the Enlighten Food Safety Culture Model (EFSCM) namely; Control, Co-operation, Communication and Competence were core cultural factors that could be used to realign management and employee behaviours to help stimulate a positive food safety culture.

ALLAMA DR MUHAMMAD IQBAL’S PHILOSOPHY OF ISLAMIC CULTURE AND MORAL VALUES AND CONTEMPORARY MUSLIM WORLD: AN ANALYTICAL AND CRITICAL STUDY

Historically, religion along with the culture and civilization have always advanced in accordance with one another. Undoubtedly, development of culture without that of religion is not possible. Therefore, this amalgamation and inter-dependence of religion as well as culture is the fundamental crux of Muslim cultural and moral view of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. For Muhammad Iqbal, most significant element in the life of Muslims is its culture and moral values. For the development of Muslim society among the entire globe, Iqbal focused mainly on culture and morality, instead of political and economic influence of the state. Though, Iqbal had a deep insight about the western view, still he formulated his though in accordance with the guidance provided by Quran and Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa SAWW. As, in the modern-day world, morality of the individuals is based entirely upon their own choices and orthodox preconceptions. Furthermore, morality is dependent upon the culture also it seems to be conservative in the context of modern era. The followers of traditions are at conflict with the followers of modernization and considers them to be fundamentalists. However, the traditionalists are aware of this fact that their system of value is resilient against any sudden change. However, the trends and fashions of the modern age thought not completely inaccurate transmits within the generations. This review paper thus mainly focuses on exploring the philosophy of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal about the culture of Muslims along with their morality. Also, it would cornerstone the contemporary situations of the Muslim world under the influence of Iqbal’s philosophy. Though it does not determine the constitutional factors of cultures and traits of Muslim society however, it is an attempt to exhibit the critical appraisal of Dr. Iqbal about the nature of culture of Muslims as well as the fundamental ideologies which are motivating, inspiring, and directing the Muslim societies in their pursuit of moral values and culture.

Application of My Country’s Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Design of Cultural and Creative Products

In recent years, the continuous growth of economic strength has promoted people’s pursuit of culture, and the demand for cultural and creative products has increased year by year. Cultural and creative products are different from ordinary products. Ordinary products pursue functions, beauty and economic benefits, while cultural and creative products endow the concept of product culture. Cultural and creative products can represent culture, ideals, beliefs, etc. At present, China has entered a new era. China has made major achievements in various fields. These achievements are areas that are difficult for ordinary people to get involved. However, these achievements are really closely related to people’s lives. How to let people understand these deep-seated areas and how to link ordinary people with high-tech achievements are the issues that this article focuses on. A Study on Representation of Children’s Disposition in Ne Zha ’s C-E Subtitle Translation

In recent years, many excellent Chinese films are going abroad. Among them, Chinese animation fantasy adventure film Ne Zha , a new champion of box office in China film market, set its feet on the overseas markets. Ne Zha not only retains the essence of Chinese traditional culture, but also injects popular elements to convey the values and pursuit of longstanding Chinese culture. Many children are attracted to enjoy the beautiful and well-flowing action scenes and laugh and cry with its unpredictable plot. In addition, the acceptance of children and maintaining the childlike visions of the work should be considered in subtitle translation. Only by thinking from the standpoint of children and respecting children’s feelings can translators deeply understand the importance of children’s disposition in their works. From the perspective of children-orientation, this paper digs the representation of children’s disposition in Ne Zha ’s English subtitle translation at lexical, syntactical and rhetorical levels, to provide a new perspective for translators to better translate C-E film subtitle.

Measuring vital signs of process safety culture

AbstractIn line with Fatima Group's vision and Health, Safety and Environment policy, Fatima Fertilizers Company Limited (FFCL) stipulated a process safety management program (PSM) as the major corner‐stone. It was purely a self‐initiative to implement this model rather than following any regulatory requirement. At FFCL, process safety performance is tracked using global method of leading and lagging indicators. Leading indicators are a set of data that measures performance across various elements of process safety. In 2020, in order to uplift process safety performance at FFCL, we invested in activities keeping in view core principles of process safety culture. While analyzing Leading Indicators for 2019, FFCL performance across various elements was linked with core principles of process safety; this helped to identify strong and weak areas of our culture. To supplement this analysis in pursuit of strong process safety culture, another study was conducted with title “What is it in for me, Two Decades of Process Safety Beacons”. All Process Safety Beacons to date were critically reviewed and relevant information was extracted. Main objective of this activity was to learn from past mistakes and strengthen process safety elements.

Perspective: in pursuit of a learning culture

Transitioning from peer review to peer learning is an important step forward in developing a learning culture. Additional measures are going to be required to meet this goal. Ideas toward establishing a learning culture are detailed in this perspective.

In Pursuit of a Replication Culture in Mathematics Education

Abstract As we celebrate the launch of a new mathematics education journal focused (at least in part) on replication studies, I add to a conversation initiated by others (e.g., Aguilar, 2020) around what it would mean for our field to be more amendable to replication. This paper begins by examining several replication studies in mathematics education as a way to reflect upon types of replication studies and the importance of replication in our field. I then problematize the idea of a conceptual replication, and I explore the boundary between a replication and a follow-up study. Finally, I consider what it might take for the field of mathematics education to become a more replication-friendly culture by introducing a distinction between idea-initiated research and results-initiated research.
