Fire Detection and Water Discharge Activity for Fire Fighting Robots using IoT

A fire is a calamity that can result in the loss of life, property damage, and the victim's lasting incapacity. Our obstacle remover and fireman Robot has been declared. In the case of a fire, we are compelled to employ human resources, which are not safe, to rescue people and put out the fire. With the advent of technology, particularly in robotics, it is now possible to respond quickly to fire locations and combat fires. This would increase firefighter efficiency while simultaneously preventing them from putting their lives in danger. In this project, we created a prototype robot using Arduino that detects and extinguishes fires autonomously. When the flame sensor detects a fire, the water pump and servo motor are activated. The capacity to detect fire sites automatically and extinguish fire remotely at a distance of 20 cm from the fire. The robot is designed to locate fires and spray water into them in order to decrease the amount of damage.

Experimental IoT study on fault detection and preventive apparatus using Node-RED ship's main engine cooling water pump motor

The shipping industry is becoming equipped with the innovative devices day by day. It is important to monitor all the devices on the ship and to store this data. It is foreseen that IoT technology will be widely used in the near future in ships that are considered to be a factory. In this study, the ship of 4310 Gross Tonnage, Oil/Chemical Tanker's 5435 HP diesel engine was investigated. The thermal, vibration and current data of the 7.5 kW 3-phase induction motor in the cooling pump used for the cooling system of this ship's main engine were analysed. These data were received with IoT sensors and transferred to the web interface. Monitoring of these data is provided by Node-RED, which is cost-effective and can easily process the information received from IoT devices. The system in this study consists of an architecture that receives instantaneous data from sensors, transfers them to the internet via electronic circuit, and transfers them to users via the dashboard and stores these data on MySQL. A system that observes errors of the cooling pump of ship’s main engine by analysing these real time data and gives warning before failure occurs is designed.

Sistem Kendali Level Ketinggian Air Berbasis Fuzzy Control Menggunakan Simulink

Today's technology shows very significant developments in automation systems. Filling water in a tank is a process that is widely used in the oil industry. The process of filling and draining water in a closed water tank will raise difficulty for the operator to control the water level in the tank. Therefore, we will create a system to control the water level using a fuzzy controller. To get the value of fuzzification from the difference in the value of the set point and defuzzification connected to the motor pump. Fuzzy design system was obtained by making methods, fuzzification, defuzzification, and rules. The use of ultrasonic sensors during the experiment caused a spike in value because the ultrasonic sensor had not detected water but had no significant effect on the response to altitude levels. When the valve is opened, the controller has an effect on the resulting response. The more the valve is opened, the worse the response will be but the system remains stable. The fuzzy output will be connected to the PLC which will be connected to the Kepserver and tank to regulate the flow rate to the tank. Matlab is connected with PLC devices using Kepserver. The best performance is found in the 2× reduction valve opening response test with a fuzzification range of 8000-24000 while the performance value of time rise is 66.458 s, settling time is 110 s, steady state error is -2%, and overshoot is 9%.

Suppression of flow pulsations and energy consumption of a drug delivery roller pump based on a novel tube design

A drug infusion peristaltic pump is experimentally studied, examining its performance for three flexible tubes, two cylindrical, and an innovative one of lenticular cross-section with an inflated part. Using water as flowing medium, the pump outlet flow rates were measured at nine phases of the semi-period, based on phase-locked 2D-PIV data. The roller disengagement phase showed to cause a reduction of the outlet flow rate, and in a lesser degree, the engagement phase. Flow acceleration at the pump outlet occurred when only one roller was squeezing the tube. The gauge pressure waveforms at the pump inlet and outlet although noisy had a phase lead with respect to the flow rate. According to the pump motor current waveform, the work of the forces necessary for the tube deformation was about 10 times higher than that of the fluid viscous and inertial forces. Among the three examined flexible tubes, the pump performance was the best when the lenticular tube was used, presenting the highest volumetric efficiency and the smallest outlet flow rate pulsations, pressure amplitudes, and energy consumption. The high pump performance is attributed to the innovative inflated part of the lenticular tube, its cross-sectional shape and its higher compliance compared to the other tubes.

IOT BASED FIRE DETECTION AND AUTOMATIC WATER SPRINKLER SYSTEM

Fire presents significant threat to life due to its severe hazards and ability to spread rapidly. fire poses a huge threat to human life. Fire detection systems, particularly vision-based systems, identify flames before any loss or destruction occurs. In this model, a novel vision-based technology is created that uses a camera to detect flames (the visible part of a fire) over long distances. An immediate alert is generated on android application. The goal of the proposed system is to notify the remote user when a fire accident occurs. This system can be installed in any remote area where there is a risk of fire. Using this system, we can detect a fire by using a fire sensor beside the camera. After detection of fire the camera is used to take the fire photo and it goes to micro controller. By using camera method, the report is automatically generated and delivered to the person immediately following the fire is detected in any part of the frame using Wi-Fi/GSM. To prevent major damage, the detector will detect flames caused by a fire accident and activate the water sprinkler. The appliance system includes components such as a buzzer for alarming, displaying temperature, humidity and to put out the fire, we use a motor pump.

Design, simulation of different configurations and life-cycle cost analysis of solar photovoltaic–water-pumping system for agriculture applications: use cases and implementation issues

Abstract Water is an essential resource for agriculture and the majority of land is irrigated through borewells or wells. The power requirement for an irrigation pump motor is fed by the on-grid power supply but the availability of electricity in rural areas is still questionable. With rising concerns about global warming and the rise in carbon footprints, it is necessary to choose clean and green energy, thereby attaining self-sustainable life. India receives yearly a mean solar irradiation of 6.5 kWh/m2day. Hence, a solar photovoltaic–water-pumping system (SPV–WPS) is a suitable alternative to grid energy; thereby, the farmers would generate electricity through the solar photovoltaic system and become self-sufficient in their energy needs. In this paper, two different agricultural fields in Tamil Nadu, India that deploy flood irrigation and drip irrigation are taken as a case study. The paper discusses the concerns on the use of grid power and their carbon footprint, design and simulation of 4- and 5.5-kW SPV–WPSs using PVsyst 7.1.1, and the advantages of using SPV–WPSs and life-cycle cost analysis on different use cases. The Government of India has introduced a special scheme to promote the installation of SPV–WPSs by offering attractive incentives through PM-Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (KUSUM) yojana. The results of the case study show that with the use of SPV–WPSs, either with or without subsidy, the farmer could gain a minimum of 250% on the investment with a project lifetime of 25 years.

his paper discusses the simulation of control of a clean water pump system based on PLC. This simulation tool uses 3 tanks: tower tank, consumption tank and ground tank. The PLC used is the Zelio SR3PACKBD Smart Relay. The input is a stainless steel rod sensor placed in the tower tank and ground tank. The output is 2 pump motors and a solenoid valve. PLC program used Ladder diagram with ZELIO SOFT 2 programs. The test results show satisfactory results and the equipment required is very simple compared to conventional controls.

Autonomous Application Controls on Smart Irrigation

Agriculture is one of the most traditional methods practiced on earth. Appropriate conditions and suitable moisture are essential for crop production. In this research, an intelligent irrigation control system is deployed using an adapted Internet of Things (IoT) platform to monitor agricultural fields efficiently and effectively utilizing water resources. Different parameters, such as soil moisture, humidity, temperature, and rainfall, are sensed using sensors placed in the agricultural field where the crop is grown. Sensed data is stored in a cloud framework. The motor pump can be toggled between the ON/OFF states manually from a remote location using the mobile application. Additionally, if the system is switched to automatic, it estimates the threshold soil moisture value and irrigates the fields when the soil moisture is low. The proposed system monitors and automates the irrigation process, and it uses the IoT and cloud platform to enable data acquisition.

A lumped-element magnetic refrigerator model

This work presents a dynamic lumped parameter model to predict the transient and steady-state cabinet temperature, energy consumption and efficiency parameters of a small capacity magnetic refrigerator equipped with a retrofitted thermally insulated wine cooler cabinet. The model is divided into independent, experimentally validated sub-models for the active magnetic regenerator (AMR), magnetic and hydraulic circuits, heat exchanger/fan assemblies and refrigerated cabinet. Primary inputs to the model are the geometric features and component dimensions, frequency and speed of power sources (hydraulic pump, axial fans and induction motor), and composition and properties of magnetic materials. Special emphasis is put on the lumped AMR model, which accurately predicts the performance of first- and second-order materials in single- and multi-layer configurations in terms of the cooling capacity, heat rejection rate and magnetic work. The model predicts the experimental steady-state cabinet temperature of a compact magnetic wine cooler prototype to within 1.5 oC, while estimating the coefficient of performance with a mean error of 6.5%. The time response of the magnetic wine cooler during a temperature pull-down test is also correctly reproduced by the model, enabling its use in the design of future magnetic heat pumping systems.

Abstract: Sewer system monitoring is important to keep the city clean. Irregular monitoring of the sewage system leads to obstruction of drainage. Sewer blockages are the main causes of sewer flooding and pollution. Sometimes, out of ignorance, workers may encounter an accident as they may not be aware of the conditions inside the manhole. This document represents an experimentation of the smart sanitation system using IoT. In this model, a water pump motor, transformer, microcontroller and IoT module is used to obtain the desired output from the module.

Evaluation of variable speed pumps in pressurized water distribution systems

In pressurized water distribution systems, a constant speed pump is often used because of its simplicity. However, constant speed pumps are not easily able to deal with changing demands in water flows. When the demand for the discharge differs from the design discharge, the required demand (discharge and head) could be met by changing the pump speed without making any special changes in the system. Using an electronic drive circuit, the electrical frequency can be changed, and the rotation speed of the pump motor can thus be modified. In this study, the application of variable speed pumps in pressurized irrigation systems is investigated. Two pumping station scenarios including a fixed speed pump and a variable speed pump are considered. The selected pump station includes a real sprinkler irrigation system near Tabriz city, Iran, with 3 lateral pipes and 600 m length of main pipe. The diameter of the main pipes is 8 and 6 inches. The results show that using a variable speed pump increases the average pump efficiency by 18.7%. In addition, the variable speed pump system reduces the electrical consumption 57.6% compared to a fixed speed pump. Therefore, the use of variable speed pumps in pressurized systems is recommended. Step-by-step calculations for a sprinkler irrigation system design are the contribution of this study. This information helps engineers who are not familiar with commutation process.

Mixing coagulant and water can take advantage of the turbulence that occurs when a hydraulic jump occurs in a channel. The hydraulic jump occurs due to the difference in slope of the two segments in a channel. In a hydraulic jump (water jump), the flow velocity decreases suddenly from V1 to V2. Correspondingly, the flow depth also increases rapidly from y1 to y2 (Triatmodjo, 2003). The use of hydraulic jumps is relatively cheaper because it does not require a stirrer such as a motor or air pump.
 The hydraulic jump used comes from the size of the gate valve opening at the outlet of the water reservoir. The research variation is a combination of gate valve openings (60o, 80o, 90o); coagulant injection point (X=before the jump, Y=when the jump, Z=after the jump); settling time (10, 20, 30 minutes).
 The results showed that the efficiency of turbidity removal using hydraulic jumps as a coagulator of the water purification process with aluminum sulfide was 74.2% from the initial turbidity of 81.6 NTU to 19 – 23.3 NTU. The effectiveness of the use of hydraulic jumps on the use of the impeller method as a cogulator is 83%.

Application of Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm in Photovoltaic Constant Pressure Water Supply Electrical Control System

The traditional constant water supply system has problems, low operation efficiency, and the strong nonlinear and large time delay of the control system. It did not meet the needs of water supply in remote and desert areas. To solve these problems, the PV constant voltage water supply system is designed to optimize the Proportion Integration Differentiation (PID) controller method based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The programmable logic controller (PLC) and frequency converter are used as the core control mechanism of the system, the water pump motor as an actuator, the pressure sensor and the level sensor be used as a feedback mechanism, Photovoltaic power generation equipment is used in power supply agencies. In this paper, the objective utilizes the PSO algorithm to optimize the parameters of the PID controller, and the principle and control process of the PSO-PID algorithm are analyzed. Simulation results by MATLAB verify that the PSO-PID algorithm has better dynamic and steady-state performance than the traditional PID algorithm. Finally, the practicability and effectiveness of the water supply system are proved by the PLC of the OMRON-CP1H series and the touch screen of the WEINVIEW series.

Study on Axial Clearance Size and Leakage of Canned Motor Pump under Axial Force Self-Balance State

Canned motor pump is widely used in chemical industry. Due to the particularity of its application, it is necessary to ensure that the medium does not leak completely. If the axial force of impeller is too large, it will directly affect the performance of canned motor pump. Therefore, the floating impeller could be used in the pump to balance the axial force. In this paper, the relationship between axial clearance and leakage rate at the key part of canned motor pump is studied by means of numerical calculation and experimental verification. It is found that the fitting curve is highly consistent with the calculated value, which provided a good theoretical basis for further study of axial clearance control axial force and experimental axial force self-balance. In addition, the leakage rate increases with the increase of axial clearance. The static pressure in the axial clearance first increases and then decreases with the decrease of radius, and the maximum static pressure value is about 10.5% ∼ 15.8% near the clearance inlet. This study is of great significance to the theoretical research on the self-balance state of axial force of impeller.

Among one of the main problems affecting Brazilian agriculture, we can mention the transport of water, since in many places it is necessary to lift it and transport it to other areas. Equipment such as motor pumps is being used. However, they present a high cost to purchase the equipment, in addition to using non-renewable sources. Aiming to get around this fact, the use of hydraulic ram becomes a viable alternative, as it is a low-cost equipment whose function is to pump water without the use of fuel or electricity, and can alternatively be built with PVC parts, and PET bottles for be used as a pressure chamber, studies are needed to prove the efficiency of manufacturing this equipment with alternative parts. The objective of this work was to evaluate the functioning of the combination of different volumes (1, 2 and 3L) of the PET bottle pressure chamber in different diameters (0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 cm) of the hole in the bottle cap, and observe which of the combinations show the best performance, the highest flow rate and the ratio between the amounts of water hammer strokes per minute with repressed flow. The results show that the combination of the pressure chamber of a 2 L PET bottle with the diameter of the hole in the bottle cap of 2.5 cm presented better performance, higher flow and amounts of water hammer strokes per minute with repressed flow.

Feedback regulation system for spraying parameters based on online droplet mass deposit measurements

In order to effectively optimize and regulate spraying parameters based on actual spraying performance and improve pesticide utilization rate, in this research, a feedback regulation system for the regulation of spraying parameters was designed based on droplet mass deposit online measurement. The system consisted of an online droplet mass deposit measurement module, wireless transmission module, decision module, and spraying parameters regulation module. First, the droplet mass deposits on the sampling points were measured. Based on the deviation between the measured and expected droplet mass, the expected spraying parameters were determined by the decision module. The spraying parameter was regulated to the expected value by regulating the pulse duty cycle on the pump motor using a micro control unit and a relay. Evaluation tests were conducted indoors using an indoor spraying platform and outdoors using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The results showed that the relative errors between the expected and measured droplet mass deposit after regulation were 6.84% and 11.48% for the indoor and outdoor tests, respectively. Therefore, an optimal spraying performance was observed after regulation. This research provided an experimental platform to quickly optimize spraying parameters and also provided technical references for precision spraying. A review on smart attendance system with protection

Attendance is an important task in any institution. Manual methods generally waste a lot of time. They are also not the safest and fastest option. In schools and colleges, the most common technique for attendance is calling the students' names, and in industries, the most common method is signing a register which generally needs extra time to do the attendance. A "Smart Attendance System with Protection" is proposed to solve these problems. This project is mainly divided into 3 parts according to its applications which includes, attendance, thermal screening and ultrasonic sensors. For the automatic attendance part, the Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) method is used for the face recognition of the person. LBPH is considered the most useful technique for face recognition. For the second part of the project, thermal screening, a sensor (MLX90614) is used to take the temperature of the person and check if it is normal or not. In the third part of the project, ultrasonic sensors are used to detect the hands of the person. Under the sanitization section, and after detection, a small pump motor is used to pour the sanitizer into the hands of the person for the sanitization of their hands. Manual records can be easily extracted from the Smart Attendance System when needed. Attendance record manipulation is not possible in the system. The proposed device uses the Raspberry Pi, IRT, Ultrasonic Sensor, Pi Camera, and Pump Motor. An attendance record is generated and stored in excel format.
