The article analyzes the problems of sexual violence and violence against children in general, the detection of sexual violence against a child, the problems of the latency of these crimes, the causes and consequences of this phenomenon in society, possible ways to overcome this problem, and therefore reduce the number of violent crimes against children. The legislation of Ukraine provides for responsibility for committing any violent acts of a sexual nature against children: rape (Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), sexual violence (Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), coercion into sexual intercourse (Article 154 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) , sexual intercourse with a person who has not reached the age of sixteen (Article 155 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), corruption of minors (Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), molestation of a child for sexual purposes (Article 156-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), importation, production, sale and distribution of pornographic objects (Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), obtaining access to child pornography, its purchase , storage, importation, transportation or other movement, manufacture, sale and distribution (art. 301-1), conducting a spectacular event of a sexual nature with the participation of a minor (art. 301-2), creating or maintaining places of debauchery and prostitution (art. 302 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), pimping or involving a person in prostitution (Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the available data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the dynamics of committing violent crimes of a sexual nature is increasing from year to year. In order to effectively detect, investigate and counter these crimes, the state and individuals must rely on a theoretical foundation, which in turn must be developed by specialists-practitioners, police officers, psychologists, teachers, etc., which are understood to be on a legal basis, as well as on the psychological characteristics of children.
 The fight against violent crimes of a sexual nature against children and the latency of these crimes will be effective under the condition of interaction and close cooperation of the state, society and the family.
