Influencing Factors and Modeling Methods of Vocal Music Teaching Quality Supported by Artificial Intelligence Technology

In order to explore the maturity of online concerts and the digital content of music resources, this article analyzes the role of artificial intelligence in music education, discusses the application of artificial intelligence in music education and the development trend of artificial intelligence in education, and studies the quality of vocal music teaching based on artificial intelligence technology. In this paper, ARM and SA algorithms, as well as internal and external probability algorithms, are combined for research and analysis. Through this study, the authors show that human intelligence skills have a certain impact on vocal music teaching, with an impact rate of 56.42%. It can be seen that artificial intelligence can directly optimize the level of music teachers and promote the improvement of teachers' teaching quality and efficiency. This article improves the effective understanding of artificial intelligence in music education and strengthens the scientific and rational application of artificial intelligence in education.

The retention and attrition of early-career music teachers: a survival analysis

Over 30 states have experienced a shortage of music teachers in the past decade. The attrition of early-career teachers is one of the largest contributing factors to the rising demand for teachers nationally, but there is a lack of rigorous empirical research examining characteristics associated with attrition of music teachers. I leveraged data from the Maryland Longitudinal Data System to examine early-career music teachers’ retention and attrition patterns between 2013 and 2020 using descriptive statistics and discrete-time survival analysis (N = 6430). On average, 74% of early-career music teachers retained their current position each year, 8% moved to a different school in Maryland, and 18% of left public school music teaching in Maryland. Survival analysis indicated that half of all music teachers left public-school music teaching in Maryland within their first five years of teaching. Attrition risk was greatest in years two and three. Other factors associated with attrition risk included sex, race, ethnicity, school grade level, aspects of school culture, the student body, school and district urbanicity, and the number of teachers employed by the school district. Discussed policy recommendations include mentorship programs, teacher compensation, school resources, comprehensive family leave, and music teacher recruitment.

EFFECTS OF USING DISCUSSION SUPPLEMENTED WITH MUSIC ON INTEREST AND PERFORMANCE OF HOME ECONOMICS PUPILS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The study investigated the effects of using discussion supplemented with music on the interest and academic achievement of Home Economics pupils in Primary Schools in Abia State. The study was guided by two research questions and two null hypotheses formulated and tested for the study. The design of the study was a quasi-experimental research design.. A sample size of eighty (80) which consist of 38 pupils (17 males and 21 females) that was assigned to the experimental group and 42 pupils (20 males and 22 females) that was assigned to the control group of primary five drawn from the population involving two intact classes using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used for data collection were Home Economics Achievement Test (HEAT) and Measure of Home Economics Interest Scale (MHEIS), determined using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) statistic and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The study revealed that Pupils taught with discussion supplemented with music had more interest in Home Economics than the pupils in control groups. This is evident in the table 1 were both of the experimental and control groups had the mean gain score for experimental group I as 11.400 while that for control group was 0.750. Music teaching method has relative effect on Pupils achievement in Home Economics in terms of interest. Based on the findings, the study recommended among others that teachers should be encouraged to make use of the supplementation of music in teaching for better interest and academic achievements in Home Economics.

Reimagining Inclusive Music Education: Reflections from a Black Music Educator

Abstract: The Eurocentric canon remains the predominant focus of music education often excluding the role of music and experiences of Black individuals and people of color. This singular perspective creates an incomplete and inaccurate understanding of the comprehensive nature of music and the humans who create, perform, and engage with it. In this article, the author shares her experience as a Black music educator and her aspirations for a music profession that incorporates the full range of human music engagement and expression. The paper begins with a reflection on W.E.B. DuBois’s double consciousness followed by an exploration of the nuances, complexities, contradictions, and beauty of being a Black educator in a primarily white field. Subsequently, the essay presents four conceptual principles for a reimagined, inclusive music education approach, drawing inspiration from Sylvia Wynter’s “new science of the Word.” These principles advocate retelling the music education narrative to incorporate historically marginalized voices, reorienting music education to be human-centered, embracing interdisciplinary approaches to view music teaching and learning, and acknowledging the power of music in uplifting the human condition. Finally, this paper proposes a pathway for reconciling diverse identities prevalent in American culture with music education and academia.

Intrinsic Factors Influencing Career Choice of Music Graduates in Fujian, China

Career choice has received significant attention in recent years, with research indicating a strong correlation between individual intrinsic motivations and career decisions. This study investigated the intrinsic factors influencing music graduates’ decisions to pursue a professional career in music in Fujian, China, using the Exploratory Design research method. This research design involved two phases. In phase one, the influencing factors were explored through interviews seeking to obtain qualitative information (N = 18). In phase two, the codes derived from the qualitative study were utilized to build a Likert scale for the quantitative questionnaire (N = 221). The qualitative results revealed that music graduates’ professional career choices were intrinsically influenced by their commitment to the music profession, sense of self-worth derived from successful performing and teaching experiences, self-purpose in sharing and teaching music, interest in music playing and music teaching, confidence in music-playing skills, and working relationship between teacher and student. These variables were confirmed by the quantitative study to have an impact on career choice. Commitment to the music profession was the most influential variable, followed by a sense of self-worth. Confidence in music-playing skills was the least influential variable. These findings deepen our understanding of the variables impacting music majors’ job choices. Understanding these determinants can help educational institutions, policymakers, and career counselors better understand music majors’ particular needs and concerns, leading to more supportive career pathways for aspiring musicians in the region.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to promote preservice elementary school teachers’ participatory understanding of the planning and execution of music lessons by using instruction analysis criteria, and to cultivate their music teaching competency.
 Methods The study was conducted to reexamine the concepts and elements of music teaching competency through a literature review. Drawing upon existing research related to lesson analysis and music lesson evaluation, criteria for analyzing music lesson applicable to preservice elementary school teachers were extracted. The analysis criteria, comprising three domains (planning, instruction, reflection) with 14 components and 42 indicators, were applied to relevant courses. Additionally, surveys and small group interviews were conducted with participants to analyze their reactions to the criteria's utilization and assess its effecti Conclusions The usefulness, applicability, and effectiveness of the criteria for analyzing music instruction were confirmed. Above all, the enthusiastic response and continued interest of preservice elementary school teachers who participated in this study regarding the utilization of the analysis criteria suggest the need for more active support in the design and implementation of music lessons in elementary teacher training programs.

In the teaching of children's vocal music to beginners, the control of breath by the diaphragm is a common topic. Some teachers believe that the use of the diaphragm can help students increase their volume, stabilize their pitch, extend their breathing, and increase their expressiveness. However, some teachers believe that overemphasis on the role of the diaphragm will cause students to neglect other vocal skills, and even cause tension and damage to the body and vocal cords. There are advantages and disadvantages in emphasizing the control of breath by the diaphragm in teaching beginners of children's vocal music. Teachers should flexibly use different teaching methods and techniques according to the specific circumstances and needs of each student. They should not only cultivate students' ability to perceive and control diaphragm movement, but also pay attention to avoiding some possible negative effects. Only in this way can students truly enjoy the fun of vocal music and develop their potential and personality. The Growth of Contemporary Music Subject and the Reform of Music Teaching in Universities

In order to promote the growth of contemporary music and the reform of music, this article designs an improved collaborative filtering (CF) algorithm to solve the problem of sparse matrix in traditional recommendation algorithms. The data matrix is dimensionally reduced to find the nearest neighbor, so as to realize personalized recommendation of music teaching resources in colleges and universities. The test results show that the accuracy of the proposed teaching resource recommendation algorithm is improved by 22.56% compared with the traditional CF algorithm. The improved CF algorithm can provide more accurate prediction, and the recommendation effect of the improved algorithm is better than the original algorithm, which can effectively avoid the sparse matrix problem faced by the CF algorithm, and provide technical support for the development of contemporary music discipline and the reform of music discipline.

Teaching church music for young people is one of the most important activities for God's servants to do. This music teaching aims to prepare young people to take part in the ministry, namely bringing music. Youth as the pillars of the church, must be properly equipped because they are the future of the church. Music is very important in worship. With music, it can encourage the congregation to praise and glorify the name of God. The introduction and teaching of ecclesiastical music for young people is one of the most important things for God's servants to do. Because with the magical music teaching program for young people, it can be a bridge for them to find their identity as servants of God and also to explore and hone the potential that exists within them. So that with the teaching of church music, it will make young people know and understand what church music is. They can also take part in the ministry of playing music at church services. Using music is a command from God as a means of praising and glorifying the name of God. The use of music in the Bible is not only used in praising and glorifying the name of God, but in the Old Testament it explains and gives written verses that musical instruments are also used when starting war (2 Kings 3:15), to celebrate victory in war (1 Samuel 10:5), to comfort hearts that are in a state of joy or sorrow, and also musk is used to expel demonic forces that disturb humans (1 Samuel 16:23). Influence of Primary Personality Trait and Age on String Orchestra Music Preference

Understanding the potential relationships between musicians’ different primary personality traits, ages, and their music preferences could be relevant in music teaching and learning. We surveyed participants ( N = 362) from four groups: middle school orchestra students, high school orchestra students, collegiate orchestra students, and in-service music teachers and examined if: (a) there was a relationship between musical preferences of the four age groups, (b) there was a relationship between musicians’ primary personality traits and their preferences of string orchestra repertoire, and (c) there was a relationship between musician’s ages and their primary personality traits. Evidence supported that middle and high school orchestra students prefer music in the Arousal music attribute dimension significantly more than collegiate orchestra students and in-service orchestra teachers. Participants with Extraversion as their primary personality trait preferred repertoire in the Arousal music attribute dimension significantly more than music in the Valence dimension. In addition, Extraversion was the most common primary personality trait for middle school orchestra and collegiate orchestra students, while Conscientiousness was most common for in-service orchestra teachers.

Navigating between traditional and innovative music teaching: Analyzing practicum conversations through practice architecture theory

There is limited research on the practicum component of music teacher education in Scandinavia. I address this gap by investigating practicum conversations preservice music teachers (PMTs) engage in during their practice-based placements in Norwegian primary and lower secondary schools. Through an analytical lens based on practice architecture theory, I illuminate how differing discourses, expectations, and relationship patterns among PMTs and teacher educators (functioning as mentors) influence the selection of certain music activities. The main findings indicate how differing discourses and expectations led to continuous negotiations about which repertoire and content to choose. At the same time, musical interaction and engagement in spaces of “shared” knowledge between PMTs and mentors served as alternative ways to select activities in practicum conversations. Based on the findings, I emphasize the importance of providing more spaces for PMTs’ voices and resources to renew and change the content and repertoire of the music subject in schools.

The paper also addresses the challenges and opportunities in harmonizing traditional Kazakh music with modern pedagogical practices. The findings reveal the importance of a diversified approach to music education, which not only fosters a deeper appreciation of Kazakh cultural heritage but also equips students with a broad range of musical competencies.

Current Situation and Innovative Methods of Brass Music Teaching Based on Network Information Technology

The intersection of education and technology has witnessed a significant transformation in recent years, with a particular focus on optimizing remote learning experiences. Maintaining network resources for brass music education is crucial to ensure a seamless and effective learning experience. Hence, this paper proposed SDNcOIT (Software-Defined Networking cloud Optimal Information Technology) model in the context of brass music education, a discipline that demands real-time audio and video interactions. The proposed SDNcOIT model uses the cloud environment integrated SDN architecture for the evaluation of brass music education. The constructed network comprises Software-Defined Networking, cloud technology, and a rule-based model, the SDNcOIT system presents a compelling case for enhancing the delivery of music education to students worldwide. The SDNcOIT model implemented the optimization model within the SDN environment for the analysis of the evaluation of the user experience in the cloud environment. The proposed SDNcOIT model uses the gradient descent optimization model for the computation of the brass music in the cloud environment. Through the implementation of the optimization process within the SDNcOIT the features are optimized in the cloud with SDN architecture for the analysis of user experience. The findings from this study reveal substantial performance improvements over time, exemplified by reduced latency, increased throughput, minimized packet loss, and elevated user satisfaction. These improvements are pivotal for a discipline where the quality of audio and video content is paramount. The scalability of the cloud infrastructure ensures that the system can accommodate varying dataset sizes, adapting seamlessly to the dynamic requirements of a growing brass music program. Furthermore, the rule-based model's growing adherence to network behavior results in an exceptionally efficient and well-optimized network, aligning harmoniously with the educational objectives of brass music instruction.
