Study of Remote Hydraulic System Based on AMEsim Rotary Blowout Prevention Type Hydraulic Rotary Table

Turntable is one of the important supporting equipment in oil drilling and repairing operation, which is mainly used as the power to drive the square drill pipe, drive the drill pipe to drill or deal with the well accident when used to rotate the drill column. In this paper, we study the rotary blowout-proof hydraulic turntable, which can meet the general rotary power requirements and also realize the control of wellbore annulus blowout-proof seal during rotary operation. Study the hydraulic working principle of the drilling rotary blowout prevention hydraulic rotary table and draw the hydraulic schematic diagram, combined with the hydraulic schematic diagram to complete the AMEsim hydraulic system modeling. Briefly describe the construction idea of the hydraulic system model of the drilling rotary blowout prevention hydraulic rotary table and analyze and verify the simulation results.

Design and Research of Dual-Mode Power Generation Device Based on Improved Oscillating Buoy

In response to the national “dual-carbon” strategic goals, a dual-mode ocean energy generation device was researched. First, improvements were made to the power generation system and mechanical structure of an oscillating buoy with a radius of 2.5 m, designing a power generation device that utilizes both wave energy and tidal energy. Subsequently, wave generation was carried out using the Realizable k-ε turbulence model, and the buoy’s strength was analyzed using the Ansys Fluent simulation platform with finite element analysis, with simulation results indicating a rational design. Then, the Froude–Krylov hypothesis method and the oscillating buoy body decomposition method were used to calculate the combined force in the vertical direction of the buoy, and combined with other forces, the maximum wave force on the buoy was determined. It was verified that the buoyancy of the buoy met the requirements of the hydraulic system. Finally, the hydraulic power generation system model was simulated and analyzed using AMEsim, yielding a power generation of 55.2284 kW. Using a formula, the maximum power generation of a single buoy was calculated to be approximately 15.5 kW, and the ideal maximum power generation of the entire device was able to reach 101.7284 kW.

Design and optimisation of automated hydraulic gate control systems for flood control

The study was conducted to analyse the design and optimisation of automated hydraulic gate control systems for effective flood control. It used data analysis from water level sensors, modelling of hydraulic systems, and control algorithms to automate the monitoring of hydraulic locks. As a result of the study, key aspects that confirm the importance of automation of hydraulic gate control for effective flood control were identified. It was established that the introduction of radiofrequency and ultrasonic sensors for water level monitoring provided a high level of data accuracy, which allowed responding in a timely manner to rising water levels. Adaptive control algorithms allowed optimising the operation of gates in dynamic conditions, considering changes in hydrodynamic characteristics. In addition, analysis of gate stability showed that the use of modern materials, such as high-strength steels and composites, substantially increased their durability and corrosion resistance. This was an important factor in ensuring the reliable operation of structures in extreme conditions. The examined models of the dynamic behaviour of gates identified critical zones that are subject to special attention during design since they can be destroyed under the influence of hydrodynamic forces. Overall, the results of the study highlighted the importance of integrating modern technologies into the design of hydraulic systems to improve their functionality and reliability in flood-risk situations. The influence of vibrations and resonant phenomena on the gate structures was analysed, which allowed identifying possible risks for their stability in flood conditions. As a result, recommendations for gate design included structural improvements that help reduce dynamic loads and improve their ability to withstand extreme hydrodynamic conditions

Research on the Optimization of the PID Control Method for an EOD Robotic Manipulator Using the PSO Algorithm for BP Neural Networks

Large-scale explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) robotic manipulators can replace manual EOD tasks, offering higher efficiency and better safety. This study focuses on the control strategies and response speeds of EOD robotic manipulators. Using Adams to establish the dynamic model of an EOD robotic manipulator and constructing a hydraulic system model in AMEsim, a co-simulation model is integrated. This study proposes a PID control strategy optimized by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for a backpropagation (BP) neural network and simulates the system’s step response for analysis. To address the vibration issues arising during the manipulator’s motion, B-spline curves are used for trajectory optimization to reduce vibrations. The PSO algorithm optimizes the connection weight matrix of the BP neural network, solving the potential problem of local minima during the training process of the BP neural network, thereby enhancing the global search capability, learning efficiency, and network performance. Simulation results indicate that compared to traditional BP+PID control, genetic algorithm (GA)+PID control, and whale optimization algorithm (WOA)-BP+PID control, the PSO-BP+PID algorithm control rapidly tunes the PID control parameters Kp, Ki, and Kd. Under the same step function conditions, the overshoot is only 1.37%, significantly lower than other methods, and the settling time is only 14 s. After stabilization, there is almost no error, demonstrating faster response speed, higher control accuracy, and stronger robustness. This research has theoretical value and reference significance for the control methods and improvements in EOD robotic manipulators.

High-performance foot trajectory tracking control of hydraulic legged robots based on fixed-time disturbance observers

PurposeThere are various uncertain and nonlinear problems in hydraulic legged robot systems, including parameter uncertainty, unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances. This study aims to eliminate uncertainties and improve the foot trajectory tracking control performance of hydraulic legged robots, a high-performance foot trajectory tracking control method based on fixed-time disturbance observers for hydraulic legged robots is proposed.Design/methodology/approachFirst, the robot leg mechanical system model and hydraulic system model of the hydraulic legged robot are established. Subsequently, two fixed-time disturbance observers are designed to address the unmatched lumped uncertainty and match lumped uncertainty in the system. Finally, the lumped uncertainties are compensated in the controller design, and the designed motion controller also achieves fixed-time stability.FindingsThrough simulation and experiments, it can be found that the proposed tracking control method based on fixed-time observers has better tracking control performance. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method have been verified.Originality/valueBoth the disturbance observers and the controller achieve fixed-time stability, effectively improving the performance of foot trajectory tracking control for hydraulic legged robots.

Ensemble of artificial intelligence and physically based models for rainfall–runoff modeling in the upper Blue Nile Basin

ABSTRACT This study investigated the performance of the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), feed forward neural network (FFNN), Soil and Water Analysis Tool (SWAT), Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydraulic Modeling System (HEC-HMS), Hydrologiska Byråns Vattenbalansavdelning (HBV), and support vector regression (SVR) models for rainfall–runoff modeling using gauged and satellite rainfall, and their fusions in the Gilgel Abay watershed, Ethiopia. Afterward, simple average ensemble (SAE), weighted average ensemble (WAE), and neural network ensemble (NNE) techniques were applied to combine the outputs of individual models under three scenarios. The performance of the models was evaluated using Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) and root mean square error (RMSE). The results demonstrated that the ANFIS model outperformed all the other single models with validation stage NSE values of 0.864 and 0.875, and RMSE values of 23.58 and 21.84 m3/s for gauge and fusion rainfall data, respectively. Among the physical-based models, SWAT gave better modeling performance with the validation stage NSE values of 0.81 and 0.821 for gauge and fusion rainfall data, respectively. Moreover, an ensemble of artificial intelligence and physical-based models greatly improved the overall modeling performance. The NNE improved the performance of single models up to 15.7 and 21.2 5% for fusion and satellite-based rainfall modeling, respectively.

Research on the design and optimal control of the power take-off (PTO) system for underwater eel-type power generators

Wave energy and ocean current energy are considered stable, reliable, and highly predictable renewable energy sources. The development of ocean current energy conversion technology is crucial in addressing power shortages. However, the low velocity of most ocean currents worldwide, typically less than 1.5 m/s, poses a challenge for traditional ocean current energy capture devices. Current estimations of power generation from underwater devices often significantly differ from actual results. This study presents an eel-type power generation device designed for underwater use, investigates the design and optimization of a hydraulic power take-off (PTO) system suitable for such devices, and examines key components of the hydraulic PTO system like variable hydraulic motors and generators. Analytical research was conducted to understand its operational characteristics, with a focus on components such as the accumulator, speed control valve, and energy storage flywheel. The article also delves into the hydrodynamic and energy conversion characteristics of the device under shallow water wave and current conditions, enhancing the hydraulic PTO system model and establishing an integrated calculation model for real-time data transmission during the calculation process. Through evaluations of pitch angle and power generation under varying sea conditions, the study explores the impact of hydraulic motor displacement and damping coefficient on the hydrodynamic and power generation characteristics of the device, further validated through sea trials. The study findings indicate a high level of parameter adaptation among the components of the hydraulic system. The addition of an accumulator to the system results in smoother output response curves, suggesting that the accumulator absorbs impacts and stabilizes the hydraulic power transmission system. The proposed comprehensive calculation method enables a more precise prediction of the performance of the eel power generation device in real marine environments, capturing its movement behavior and power generation characteristics. Adjusting the motor displacement or damping coefficient under specific conditions can optimize the total damping of the hydraulic PTO system for maximum power output. The optimal power point of the hydraulic power generation system varies for different sea conditions, with a potential power generation efficiency of up to 80.3% under certain circumstances.

Review paper on applications of the HEC-RAS model for flooding, agriculture, and water quality simulation

ABSTRACT The Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has developed the HEC-River Analysis System (RAS) hydraulic channel flow model as part of its portfolio of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools. HEC-RAS is a new version with capabilities to model flooding, modeling for agriculture production computations for water quality, and many more related to hydraulic modeling. The analysis components of the HEC-RAS system include one-dimensional steady flow water surface profile computations, one-dimensional and or two-dimensional unsteady flow simulation, one-dimensional and two-dimensional computations of quasi-unsteady or fully unsteady flow movable boundary sediment transport, and one-dimensional water quality analysis. The main objective of this paper is to review the use of HEC-RAS on flooding, agriculture, and water quality. The three primary components of the data input are plan data, geometry data, and flow data. Three of these scenarios applied to HEC-RAS and were proven by previous reviewers.

Ride comfort analysis and optimization of a hydro-pneumatic suspension system for a mining dump truck

Mining dump truck is an important carrier used for short-distance round-trip transportation of ore and other materials in open-pit mines. This paper takes XDR80t mining dump truck produced by XCMG as the research object. The integrated virtual prototype model of hydro-pneumatic suspension mechanical and hydraulic systems is established by ADAMS and AMESim. The co-simulation environment is carried out to realize the virtual prototype modeling and simulation. Using the wheel and chassis centroid acceleration data collected at the site, a method based on frequency domain integration is proposed to calculate the displacement data which is used as the model input. Comparing the simulation test results with the field test results, both the errors of the suspension cylinder dynamic stroke and the body vertical acceleration root mean square (RMS) values are around 5%. The dynamic response of the vehicle body under typical road excitation at different vehicle speeds is analyzed by co-simulation. For low-speed obstacle crossings at 10 or 20 km/h, the original suspension system with only non-rod chamber interconnections system is able to ensure the ride comfort of the vehicle. While the speed is increased to 25 or 30 km/h, there will be a certain failure of the interconnecting suspension because of the poor fluid circulation condition, and the body vibration will be seriously aggravated. Therefore, the rod chamber of the cylinder is connected to guarantee the smooth flow of oil. The peak value of acceleration is reduced from 39.55 to 24.74 m/s2 at high speed, when the suspension was changed from a form with only non-rod chambers interconnected to both rod and non-rod chambers interconnected. When driving on random road, the RMS value of acceleration decreased by about 21.9%. This improved interconnected hydraulic system can effectively improve the ride comfort of the mining dump truck.

SSFLNet: A Novel Fault Diagnosis Method for Double Shield TBM Tool System.

In tunnel boring projects, wear and tear in the tooling system can have significant consequences, such as decreased boring efficiency, heightened maintenance costs, and potential safety hazards. In this paper, a fault diagnosis method for TBM tooling systems based on SAV-SVDD failure location (SSFL) is proposed. The aim of this method is to detect faults caused by disk cutter wear during the boring process, which diminishes the boring efficiency and is challenging to detect during construction. This paper uses SolidWorks to create a complete three-dimensional model of the TBM hydraulic thrust system and tool system. Then, dynamic simulations are performed with Adams. This helps us understand how the load on the propulsion hydraulic cylinder changes as the TBM tunneling tool wears to different degrees during construction. The hydraulic propulsion system was modeled and simulated using AMESIM software. Utilizing the load on the hydraulic propulsion cylinder as an input signal, pressure signals from the two chambers of the hydraulic cylinder and the system's flow signal were acquired. This enabled an in-depth exploration of the correlation between these acquired signals and the extent of the tooling system failure. Following this analysis, a collection of normal sample data and sample data representing different degrees of disk cutter abrasions was amassed for further study. Next, an SSFL network model for locating the failure area of the cutter was established. Fault sample data were used as the input, and the accuracy of the fault diagnosis model was tested. The test results show that the performance of the SSFL network model is better than that of the SAE-SVM and SVDD network models. The SSFL model achieves 90% accuracy in determining the failure area of the cutter head. The model effectively identifies the failure regions, enabling timely tool replacement to avoid decreased boring efficiency under wear conditions. The experimental findings validate the feasibility of this approach.

Dynamic Modeling and Simulation of a Discrete Incremental Hydraulic Positioning System Controlled by Binary Valves

This article presents the conceptual design, operation principle, dynamic modeling, and simulation results of a discrete incremental hydraulic positioning system (DIHPS) intended for use in high-precision, heavy-load industrial automation solutions. An original solution for precise incremental step positioning using DIHPS is proposed, comprising an n-step linear double-acting hydraulic actuator (HA) with a double rod, cylinder sleeve with outflow gaps, binary valves (BVs) bleed-off into the tank, and fixed throttle valves (TRVs) at the inlets of the actuator chambers. The discrete incremental shift of the HA is determined by controlling the opening and closing of the individual BVs, and the step shift of the HA piston stops at the opening location of the BV. A dynamic model of incremental step shift for DIHPS is developed, considering the behavior and relationships of its individual elements. A dynamic model of HA with and without a hydropneumatic accumulator (HPA) is presented. HPA has been shown to effectively dampen piston vibrations and pressure peaks at the HA stop position. The design assumptions, dynamic models, and discrete incremental positioning of the DIHPS are verified by simulation tests and assessed with quantitative indicators. Innovative DIHPSs have significant practical potential in the discrete incremental positioning of heavy loads.

Real-time flood forecasting using an integrated hydrologic and hydraulic model for the Vamsadhara and Nagavali basins, Eastern India

AbstractDue to recent rainfall extremes and tropical cyclones that form over the Bay of Bengal during the pre- and post-monsoon seasons, the Nagavali and Vamsadhara basins in India experience frequent floods, causing significant loss of human life and damage to agricultural lands and infrastructure. This study provides an integrated hydrologic and hydraulic modeling system that is based on the Soil and Water Assessment Tool model and the 2-Dimensional Hydrological Engineering Centre-River Analysis System, which simulates floods using Global Forecasting System rainfall forecasts with a 48-h lead time. The integrated model was used to simulate the streamflow, flood area extent, and depth for the historical flood events (i.e., 1991–2018) with peak discharges of 1200 m3/s in the Nagavali basin and 1360 m3/s in the Vamsadhara basin. The integrated model predicted flood inundation depths that were in good agreement with observed inundation depths provided by the Central Water Commission. The inundation maps generated by the integrated modeling system with a 48-h lead time for tropical cyclone Titli demonstrated an accuracy of more than 75%. The insights gained from this study will help the public and government agencies make better decisions and deal with floods.

Evaluating the effects of climate change on river water temperature downstream of a hydropower reservoir in western Canada

This paper evaluates the impact of climate change on the water temperature of the Nechako River near the town of Vanderhoof (British Columbia, Canada). To do so, the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) hydraulic and water temperature model was used with data from 10 climate models representing two Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP 2-4.5 and SSP 5-8.5) over two future time periods (2041-2070 and 2071-2100). The results showed an upward trend in projected water temperatures for all tested discharge rates from the impounding reservoir during the warmest periods of the year. The study found that water temperatures are expected to increase by up to 2.57 °C for the near future (2041-2070) and up to 3.56 °C on average for all flow scenarios studied for a far future (2071-2100) when using SSP5-8.5. The timing of the peak water temperature during the summer is also expected to shift, with maximum water temperatures occurring up to 10 days later than in the reference period. In 10.3% of the far future SSP5-8.5 scenarios, at least one day per summer had a mean daily temperature of at least 24 °C, which exceeds limits of 20 °C for sockeye salmon and 21 °C for white sturgeon which are considered detrimental for the fish. It has been shown that over 50% of sockeye salmon will stop their sustained swimming at water temperatures of 24 °C due to cardiac limitations.

Three-model-driven fault diagnosis method for complex hydraulic control system: Subsea blowout preventer system as a case study

Hydraulic control is a control pattern that uses compression fluid as the energy medium and information medium. Hydraulic system is widely used in the control of industrial systems because of its flexibility and reliability. Hydraulic systems have the characteristics of strong fault concealment, significant sensor delay, and a complex signal transmission mechanism. Hence, it is very difficult to identify the faults of systems under the influence of powerful nonlinear time-varying characteristic. The diagnosis of complex hydraulic control system is a problem facing the current research. In order to cope with the challenges caused by limited sensors and concealment of faults, a three-model-driven fault diagnosis method is proposed for complex hydraulic control system. The three hydraulic control system models with regard to energy, fluid and information are proposed and established to explain the work process of the system from different perspectives. The diagnostic model is completed by establishing a fault reasoning model based on the Bayesian network. A redundant control system for subsea blowout preventer is used as a case to demonstrate the proposed method, and the results show that the proposed method has high accuracy.

Study of Error Flow for Hydraulic System Simulation Models for Construction Machinery Based on the State-Space Approach

This study presents an error flow research method for simulation models of hydraulic systems in construction machinery based on the state-space approach, aiming to ensure the reliable application of digital twin models. Initially, a comprehensive analysis of errors in the simulation modeling of hydraulic systems in construction machinery was conducted, highlighting simulation model parameters as the primary error sources. Subsequently, a set of metrics for assessing the accuracy of simulation models was developed. Following this, an error flow analysis method for simulation models of hydraulic systems in construction machinery was explored based on the state space approach, delving into the sources, transmission, and accumulation of errors in the simulation modeling of valve-controlled cylinder systems. The research results unequivocally indicate that the spring stiffness, viscous damping coefficient, and hydraulic cylinder external leakage coefficient are critical parameters affecting the accuracy of valve-controlled cylinder system simulation models. Furthermore, it was observed that the simulation model of the control valve has a significantly greater impact on the errors in the valve-controlled cylinder system simulation model than the hydraulic cylinder model. In conclusion, the reliability of the error flow model was confirmed through simulation experiments, revealing a maximum relative error of only 3.73% between the error flow model and the results of the simulation experiments.

Ensemble rainfall–runoff modeling of physically based semi-distributed models using multi-source rainfall data fusion

Abstract This study was aimed at ensemble rainfall–runoff modeling by Soil and Water Analysis Tool (SWAT), the Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydraulic Modeling System, and Hydrologiska Byråns Vattenbalansavdelning of Gilgel-Abay watershed, Blue Nile basin, Ethiopia. For modeling, daily rainfall datasets of five gauges and three satellites, streamflow, and spatial data were used. In the modeling stage, first, the runoff was simulated separately using the rainfall data of gauges, satellites, and their fusion. Second, ensemble rainfall–runoff simulation of the rainfall dataset fusion-based runoff result was conducted via the proposed weighted average, simple average, and neural network (NNE) ensemble techniques. The results exhibited that all models are good in capturing the rainfall–runoff relationship; however, SWAT showed slight superiority by Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency of 0.807 and 0.821 for gauge and fusion data, respectively. The rainfall fusion ensemble model revealed significant improvement over modeling by satellite rainfall owing to the bias-correcting gauge rainfall over satellite rainfall. The NNE technique enhanced the efficiency of the low-performing satellite-rainfall-based model by 17.5% and the rainfall fusion-based model by 13.3% at the validation stage. In general, the result of this study points out that the rainfall datasets’ fusion from multi-sources would be worthy for the rainfall–runoff simulation of ungauged basins.

Virtual Model Development of the Load Application System of a Wind Turbine Nacelle Test Bench for Hybrid Test Applications

Abstract The existing nacelle testing methods require continuous improvements to satisfy the ever-increasing demands for testing modern wind turbines. One way to achieve this goal is to use advanced simulation techniques to undertake hybrid testing, in which experiments and simulations are combined to push the boundaries of nacelle testing even further. To do so requires the development of a virtual model of the test bench featuring the true test bench dynamics and functionalities. This contribution presents the development of a virtual model of the complete nontorque load application system of a nacelle test bench at Fraunhofer IWES. The model development methodology is explained and the impact of different levels of modeling depth of the hydraulic system model is investigated. It is concluded that modeling of friction and valve dynamics is necessary as they have significant influence on the generated loads. These findings can help in the development of virtual models of nacelle test benches and pave the way for performing hybrid testing for wind turbine nacelles.

Modeling and Simulation of a Turbine Access System with Three-Axial Active Motion Compensation

As an essential transportation equipment for personnel to access offshore wind plants, the safety and stability of the turbine access system (TAS) have gained increasing significance. However, when sea conditions deteriorate, the end of the TAS will experience large-angle shaking and an increase in the heave height. A novel 3-DOFs TAS with active motion compensation for the Fujian coastal area is designed to solve the problem of the stability of the end of the TAS under sea conditions with a significant wave height of 2.2 m, including structural design, kinematic analysis, hydraulic drive design, and control system design. In the research, a new stacking compensation method is proposed to compensate for the roll angle, pitch angle, and heave height at the end of the TAS. The 3-DOFs TAS is modeled mathematically by the Denavit–Hartenberg parameters, and the hydraulic system model is established. In order to improve the compensation effect, a fuzzy PID controller with feedforward compensation is designed based on fuzzy PID control, and the model simulation experiment is carried out by MATLAB/Simulink. Finally, the experimental simulation shows that under the compensation of the feedforward compensation fuzzy PID control algorithm and the new compensation algorithm, the roll angle of the TAS is reduced by a maximum of 84.8%, the pitch angle is reduced by 75%, and the heave height is reduced by 73.6%. This validates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme and provides a reference for future TAS design and development.

Using integrated GIS and hydrological analysis for sizing culverts of multiple channel crossings at the flooded section of the Daboya-Mankarigu Road (IR10) in Ghana

A culvert is an important structure in Road construction to allow the conveyance of Channels crossing the road. Culverts are sized for a road to accommodate the volume of water crossing the road network to avoid flooding. Ghana Highways has a standard manual for culvert sizing at channel crossing. This manual serves as a guide for the proper sizing of culverts, however, lots of culverts have been found to have failed. Among the reasons for the failure of culverts could be under-sizing, urbanization, climate change, lack of maintenance, etc. The Daboya-Mankarigu Road is situated in the Savanah Region of Ghana in the North Gonja District. The section of the road from Chainage 9 + 075 to 10 + 200 has been experiencing flooding from 2020 to 2021 with a flood depth of 3.315 m in 2020 and 2.00 m in 2021. This study seeks to use integrated GIS and hydrological-based methods to propose new culverts to supplement the existing culverts to control flooding at section (9 + 075 to 10 + 200) of Daboya-Mankarigu Road (IR10). Geographic Information system (GIS) model (SWAT), Hydrological and hydraulic models were used to determine the peak flow at the catchment to Propose new culverts to supplement the existing culverts. Using a design period of 25 years for culverts, the modified rational method was used to determine the Peak flow of the catchment. A 25-year peak flow of 367.155 m3/s was determined and used for hydraulic analysis of the existing culverts. From the study, the existing culvert structures at the section had a hydraulic capacity of 78.732 m3/s which could not accommodate the remaining flow of 288.423 m3/s in the catchment. An observation was made that the changes in the rainfall can cause a change in rainfall intensity. An increase in built-up areas in the catchment can also increase the runoff coefficient which can result in higher peak flow in the catchment. Climate change, change in slope, and Land use in the catchment were also determined to have a huge influence on the adequacy of culverts since the peak flow is dependent on these parameters in the catchment as the years go by. A 4No. 4 m × 4 m box culvert, 3No. 3.5 m × 3.5 m box culvert, and 13 No. 1200 mm pipe culverts with 2 each at different chainages were proposed at suitable locations to supplement the existing culverts using the HDS-5 equations in AutoCAD Civil 3D. A recommendation is made to consider the installation of these new culverts at the flood section to control flooding and avoid overtopping of water on the IR10 road section (Daboya-Mankarigu) in the north Gonja District.

Assessing future flood inundation in Nandigama through land use, land cover, and rainfall analysis

Abstract Frequent occurrences of high-intensity rainfall have made urban flooding a significant problem. In the present study, flood inundation maps were prepared for the years 2030 and 2035 based on changes in future land use and land cover (LULC) and rainfall patterns in Nandigama, located in Andhra Pradesh, India. The Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydrologic Modelling System Hydrologic and Hydrologic Engineering Center–River Analysis System hydraulic models were used to assess future runoff and flood inundation areas for the above years. Future LULC and hydro-meteorological data were analysed and incorporated into the models. Predicted LULC maps showed a high level of agreement with actual LULC maps, as indicated by a Kappa index of 88.34%. The average peak runoff flowing out of the basin increased by 1.82%–3.43% for years 2030–2035, respectively. When considering the average inundation percentage area in Nandigama, it was found that 12.73% and 13.83% of the area flooded in both years. The study recommendations give more attention to the Nandigama flood management authority.
