Integrated learning and project-based learning for project of electrical measurement and instrumentations in electrical engineering course

Using integrated learning and project-based learning can make correlation of knowledge and skills in order to make students apply the knowledge to become a new knowledge for creating project to be prepared for Thailand 4.0 with the topic electrical measuring instrumentation project with the Internet of thing. The research process divided into 3 parts: 1) topics analysis and objectives analysis for integrated learning 2) project-based learning for projects assignment and 3) Integrated learning and project-based learning. The sample were 18 4th year students in Electrical engineering manufacturing department, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University. The assessment stages were followed by 1) project proposal 2) project planning and design 3) project implementation 4) project evaluation and 5) project presentation and report. The result found that: students can create their electrical measuring instrumentation group’s project from this learning method and the students’ evaluation and feedback were agree with this learning model. In conclusion, leaning by using integrated learning and project-based learning can improve thinking skills, teamwork skills, use of technology and other skills related to their project topic such as microcontroller and computer programming also promoting students-centered and gives the opportunity to make discussion between students and lecturer to suggest and solve students problems.

An internal cooperation as a driver of total quality management

Much evidence has been presented on the critical factors for total quality management (TQM) and its effect on firm performance. Studies aiming to understand TQM have examined the moderators on the relationship between TQM and firm performance. Among these moderators, cooperation among teams and departments has been highlighted but rarely empirically tested. Thus, the paper investigates the conditions under which the effect of TQM is intensified using a sample of 565 firms in Korea. We confirmed that TQM is positively associated with firm performance. In addition, the cooperative internal environment, including the levels of cross-functional team (CFT) and of collaboration between R&D and manufacturing departments (CRM), positively moderates the relationship between TQM and firm performance. This study contributes to the current literature on TQM by considering and testing the moderating effects of collaboration environments.

Design of Multiple Mailboxes

In today’s world the design of multiple mailboxes comes to cover the evolution of logistics in delivering mail where the postman is not required to visit every user. In this research the 3D visualization is used for the design of multiple mailboxes for domestic use. It concerns the design of mailboxes in ergonomic building blocks and apartment complexes in 3D design so that they can be easily manufactured. Between the advantages of this design will be rapid production of ready-made products production of prototypes that enables testing at the design stage and reduces the time and the cost of production. The design when done with 3D CAD can be manufactured with modern machine tooling methods. In this paper after an extensive Literature Review the postal multiple mailboxes is used as a case study in the use of 3D CAD for 3D printing. A methodology is proposed that enables the examination of prototypes at the design stage according to specifications and allows the manufacturing department of a company to prepare the right tools and begin installing production lines. Conclusively this method gives the advantage of designing the product and supporting the production of scaffolds that can be functionally and ergonomically tested before finalizing the production.

Quality Characterisation and Capability Assessment of a Tobacco Company

This is an empirical study on the application of SPC techniques for monitoring and detecting variation in the quality of locally produced tobacco in Nigeria. The result provides base evidence for intervention in the quality behavior of the heavily automated tobacco production process in which slight undetected deviation can result in significant wastes. An observational study was carried out within the primary manufacturing department of the tobacco company. The study analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, goodness of fit test and SPC charts.. These charts were constructed and examined for significant variation in expected output quality as well as the capability of the process. The goodness of fit test and SPC identified CTQs that were approximately normally distributed and out of process control across periods of observations. These deviations were not evident with the summary data or its presentation on the histogram. Subsequently, the out of control process charts were transformed to in-control charts by repetitive elimination of out-of-control instances. At this state, it was observed that the process was only capable of meeting specification for the dust level for all capability measures. These results illustrate a proof of SPC for process monitoring and product quality improvement.

Evaluation of Health Risk Level of Hand-Arm and Whole-Body Vibrations on the Technical Operators and Equipment in a Tobacco-Producing Company in Nigeria.

Vibration is experienced when a body is subjected to either internal or external forces which cause oscillation, with most operators of industrial equipment often exposed to high dosage, higher than the stipulated values. In this research, Digital Real-Time Frequency Analyzer (RSA 5106A) was used, while the results obtained were evaluated and compared with the health guidelines of the ISO 2631-1 : 1997 and ISO 2631-5 : 2004 standards, as described in the Health Guidance Caution Zone for a daily exposure action value (EAV) of 0.47 m/s2 and a daily exposure limit value (ELV) of 0.93 m/s. High acceleration was mostly seen on the z-axis in all the results obtained, whereas many were not within the HGCZ (Arms <0.47, and >0.93 m/s2). Comparing (VDV <8.5 m/s1.75 and >17 m/s1.75) with the ISO standard, the accelerations on all x- and y-axes were slightly within the HGCZ, with just a little below 0.47 m/s2 limit. The results obtained clearly showed that urgent action is needed virtually on all the equipment in both the Secondary Manufacturing Department (SMD) and Primary Manufacturing Department (PMD) to minimize vibration exposure on the technical operators.

Lean Approach to Enhance Manufacturing Productivity: A Case Study of Saudi Arabian Factory

In a present competitive market, manufacturing industries are compelled to follow a systematic approach to understand and improve manufacturing plant performance. A variety of management tools and philosophies are adopted by different industries to identify areas of opportunity for minimization of waste and maximization of production productivity. Lean manufacturing is a philosophy of waste minimization, productivity enhancement and continuous improvement. This paper considers Saudi Arabian factory as a case study. Accordingly, an approach is presented to measure the manufacturing plant performance and total productivity. Productivity benchmarking is done based on baseline productivity, and manufacturing plant performance index. The detailed case study analysis is done by gathering data from different manufacturing departments. By adopting lean approach, the manufacturing industry was able to improve its performance in each manufacturing departments. After improvement, the whole manufacturing plant performance index improved from 0.77 to 0.86, and the total factor productivity is increased by 11.45%. This case study focuses on resources utilization, man and material movements, production bottlenecks and percentage rejection. Thus, this paper is about the application of lean tools in a company and proposing an approach to apply it in Saudi Arabian factory, and the results can be applied to any other manufacturing company.

EETIKA KERJA ISLAM SEBAGAI FAKTOR DETERMINAN TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN PT. X DI KOTA BANDUNG

The main of this research is to resolve decreasing employee performance of Manufaturing Department at PT. X arround 3 years beginning of time, by using Islamic Work Ethics approach as independent variable. This research method used descriptive and verification method with 126 employees in the manufacturing department of PT. X as a population of with the number of respondents only 61 employees. The analysis technique used is Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis. Then to test the research hypothesis, t-test is used to determine the significance level of the correlation coefficient between the two variables studied. The results showed that the Islamic Work Ethics and Employee Performance were in the middle category, and the calculation results of the correlation coefficient is 0.521, the mean is Islamic Work Ethic had a middle impact of Employee Performance.

ForewordThe 23rd edition of Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference (IManEE 2019) is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Management of the University of Piteşti (Romania) and the Department of Manufacturing Engineering of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania).The first conference was organized in May 1996 at Iaşi and, since 1999, the conferences have been organized alternately, in Iaşi and Chişinău, by the collaboration of the Machine Manufacturing Departments from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania) and from the Technical University of Moldova from Chisinau (Republic of Moldova). By considering the new trends and requests valid in the field of manufacturing engineering from the entire world, starting from 2013, the name of the conference was changed in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering” and later in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering and Energy”. Medical Device Integrated System Accelerated Life Testing

This paper defines the accelerated life test design and technique to evaluate medical device system reliability. The proposed method includes developing system functional diagram to capture the overall ecosystem of the device and all control and noise factors that affect device performance. The test simulates real life therapy level stresses including temperature, patient use, disposable setting, power source alterations, medical prescription and duty cycle. These operation elements are used at different rates to balance the aging of different subsystems and rate of different failure mechanisms. The sample size of the test units is determined based on minimizing the overestimation error of the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) value. All observed events, and failures are categorized, and identified as failure per the expected complaint handling systems in real life. The test/tester setup errors and customer errors can also be tracked separately in the test and a mechanism of feeding back to human factors analysis, manufacturing, and service departments are identified to help optimize and inform product design and sustaining engineering activities. Test results and findings are to be compared to field data and benchmarked against a predicted number of failures based on the reliability requirements analysis established prior to product release. Test data and performance parameters are to be tracked and used to establish and optimize proactive and predictive maintenance interval and strategies for limited life and degrading components. Finally, a standardized testing method is to be revised based on lessons learned, and to be generalized for future product tests.

Design and Analysis of Erp Integration for Pari Fish Leather Smes in Yogyakarta Using Web Service Technology

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) usually have limited markets and raw materials, so they cannot do mass production. The purpose of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in Jogjakarta Pari Fish Leather SMEs is to maintain consumers and increase the effectiveness of using raw materials by integrating data on the production (factory) and marketing (shop / branch) sections using the SOAP method and REST web service. The results achieved are data integration between the marketing and manufacturing departments using SOAP and REST Web Service, as well as an ERP information and monitoring system that displays functions such as: sales charts, best-selling products, buyer's charts, and buyer's regional charts.

Innovative process as an object of management

The article explores the term "innovation", for which the authors use modern approaches to its understanding. According author’s mind, In the world economic literature, “innovation” is interpreted as the transformation of potential scientific and technological progress into real, embodied in new products and technologies. The issue of innovations in our country has traditionally been developed in the framework of economic research of scientific and technical progress. The term “innovation” has been actively used in the transition economy of Georgia, both independently and to denote a number of related concepts: innovation activity, innovation process, innovation solution, etc. To clarify the concept of innovation, we consider different views on its essence. After giving their own definition of the term, the authors proceed to the classification of innovations and note that their diversity and heterogeneity require some kind of work.&#x0D; According to the classification of the authors of the study, innovations are divided according to innovative potential, technological parameters, content, place in the enterprise, causes, nature of the needs being satisfied, degree of territorial novelty.&#x0D; The authors think that the innovation process as an object of management is much more complex than a routine production process. Any business performed by a person or an organization for the first time is nothing more than an innovation process (table), which causes a lot of difficulties and mistakes, requires alterations and adjustments. Routine processes, on the contrary, are repeated regularly, which leads to specialization and automation of personnel knowledge and skills, reduction of errors in the technological process, and development of a clear and effective algorithm of actions.&#x0D; In the process of research, the authors compiled a comparative description of the innovation and production processes and gave the concept, structure, content of the work of innovation processes at its main stages.&#x0D; In conclusion, the authors note that as F. Kotler notes, the development of a new product is most effective in those cases where from the very beginning there is close cooperation between the research and development department and the technical, manufacturing, marketing and financial departments of the company.

Examples and Analysis of Tobacco Wastewater Treatment Engineering

The wastewater was treated by hydrolysis acidification and contact oxidation according to the characteristics of wastewater which produced by cigarette production process. The wastewater produced by cigarette manufacturing department was separate pretreatment using coagulation-air flotation. The results indicate that the coagulation-air floatation process for white glue wastewater pretreatment is feasible and effective. The white glue wastewater was prone to bubbles and had a large influence on the contact oxidation. The main process of Hydrolytic acidification and contact oxidation was running in good condition after white glue wastewater pre-treatment. The removal rate of COD was over 85%. The quality of effluent water is better than integrated wastewater discharge standard (GB8978-1996).

Ergonomics study on an assembly line used in the automotive industry

Today, for the enterprises, the competition is more and more intense and more competitor try to satisfy their customers. In the field of automotive industry, the demands for the product increase and the company need to satisfy the demand. As the demands increases, the company should produce more product than usual. In the same time the comfort and health of the workers should be consider. Some factors such as workstation design should take into consideration in order to increase the productivity and at the same time protect workers from accidents and health problem. Therefore, the workstations need to be redesign by applying the ergonomics principles. This paper presents the combined application of Artificial Neural Networks and the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) Analysis in the process of redesign ergonomic workstations. Artificial Neural Networks excel in gathering difficult non-linear relationships between the inputs and outputs of a system. We used, in this work, a feed forward neural network in order to ranking a workstation. The neural network is simulated with MATLAB. The experiment presented in this paper was realized at University of Piteşti, Faculty of Mechanics and Technology, Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Management, using CATIA V5 software.

Briquetting lignite-biomass blends to obtain composite solid fuels for combustion purposes

The main aim of this study was to determine the possibility of briquetting lignite-biomass blends to obtain composite solid fuels (CSF) for combustion purposes. Research was conducted at Department of Manufacturing Systems and Department of Thermal Engineering and Environmental Protection, AGH University of Science and Technology to develop a technology for briquettes preparation. The briquetting process was carried out in the cylindrical die and in the roll press. The gravity hopper and new asymmetrical layout briquetting system were used in the roll press and briquettes in the shape of the saddle i.e. without the splitting plane were obtained. Effects of the ratio of biomass to lignite (20/80; 30/70;40/60 and 50/50), moisture content (9.9%-31.3%), and briquetting unit pressure (32-210MPa) on the strength of the briquettes were investigated. The obtained results showed possibility of briquetting of lignite-biomass blends in the cylindrical die and in the roll presses and the mechanical strength obtained briquettes was high i.e. shatter index >90% and compressive strength >1MPa. All of the produced briquettes were not water resistant. Based on physical and chemical analysis of prepared briquettes it was confirmed that briquettes have good fuel properties for combustion process. Thermal behavior of studied lignite and prepared mixture was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The samples were placed in an alumina crucible. C.a. 15 mg of sample was heated from an ambient temperature up to 1000°C at constant two rates: 10°C/min and 40°C/min in a 40 ml/min flow of air. Finally, basic analysis of ash from burning briquettes were carried out and some of the results are presented.

When marketing and manufacturing departments integrate: The influences of market newness and competitive intensity

Although the effect of marketing-manufacturing integration on new product development (NPD) performance has been extensively studied, the question about how this integration is affected during the different stages of NPD remains unclear, especially when a firm faces a new market. In this study, we use resource dependence theory as the theoretical framework and collect survey-based data from manufacturing firms in China to investigate how market newness can affect marketing-manufacturing integration during the different stages of NPD. Our results indicate that market newness has a positive relationship with marketing-manufacturing integration during NPD's different stages, with this relationship being stronger in the early stages than in the subsequent ones. We also examine the effect of such integration during the early stages of NPD on the integration on subsequent stages of NPD. Moreover, we further investigate the moderating role of competitive intensity on the positive effect of market newness on marketing-manufacturing integration. Our findings suggest that a positive moderating effect is more prominent during the early and the final stages of NPD than during the intermediate ones. Our results provide a dynamic perspective on marketing-manufacturing integration and highlight the need for matching the appropriate level of integration with the different NPD stages.
