English for Tour Guide: Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat bagi Guru SMK di Purbalingga

This community service program seeks to help teachers enhance their English communication abilities, and in particular English for Tour Guide. Aside from that, it provides information, insight and creative inspiration in teaching and learning activities, which can indirectly contribute to the growth of local tourism. This activity was carried out utilizing a training method based on the results of an analysis of needs and challenges encountered at SMK Negeri 1 Bojongsari in terms of English mastery, conducted through interviews and observations. The training method used is through presentation of material, drilling, and evaluation. This PKM activity is for vocational school teachers and students, as well as UHAMKA lecturers and students. This training event went off without a hitch, as planned by the UHAMKA PKM team. Participants were enthusiastic and involved in creating a conducive atmosphere till the program ended. The evaluation results indicate that more time is needed for practice and evaluation. Furthermore, it is advised that existing activities such as comparable training, be held on a regular basis to develop teachers' teaching skills.

Pendampingan Pemasaran Digital Branding Kampung Malon

This Community Service Program aims to provide digital marketing and branding assistance to Kampung Malon, a local community with tourism potential and superior products. Through this assistance, it is hoped that the local community can utilize digital technology to enhance the promotion and visibility of Kampung Malon. The mentoring method involves direct training and guidance to the residents of Kampung Malon regarding the concepts of digital marketing and effective branding techniques. Practical steps such as creating digital content, managing social media, and implementing online marketing strategies will be taught and applied together with the local community. In addition, this program will also assist in building the brand identity of Kampung Malon, focusing on local values, product uniqueness, and tourism attractions. Through the active involvement of residents, it is expected that the positive image of Kampung Malon can be strengthened, inviting tourist interest and supporting local economic growth. The results of this assistance will be evaluated periodically to measure its impact on increasing tourist visits, local product sales, and community participation in digital marketing activities. The conclusion of this program will provide insights into the effectiveness of digital marketing and branding strategies in the context of local communities like Kampung Malon. Thus, it is hoped that this program can become a model that can be adopted by similar communities in various regions to enhance their economic and tourism potential through the utilization of digital technology

European screen locations in the Indian film industry: evolutionary, spatial, and collaborative perspectives

India has long been known for its film industry and remains by far the largest film producer in the world, surpassing other film-producing superpowers like the US and China. A major factor in India’s dominance in the global media landscape is the outsourcing of film production, especially within Europe. Although there are studies trying to explain the context and mechanisms of foreign settings being incorporated into Indian filmmaking, this knowledge remains scattered and unsystematic. The objective of this paper is to comprehensively examine the evolutionary, spatial, and collaborative dynamics of Indian filmmaking in Europe by analysing statistical data from IMDb as the world’s largest film database. Our findings show that Indian filmmakers appeared relatively infrequently in Europe until the mid-1990s. The British Isles and Western Europe, with London and the Swiss Alps as the main centres, became the first and most popular destinations for outsourcing Indian films. However, this trend has changed in the last two decades, with the focus shifting to other areas in Southern, Central, Eastern, and Northern Europe as well in recent decades. The initial wave of Bollywood productions has gradually been followed by other regional cinematographies. The increasing presence of Indian film shooting in Europe has also led to growing co-production between filmmakers on both (sub)continents. The paper provides a solid basis for further exploration of socio-economic linkages between India and Europe, especially in terms of job creation, local economic development, tourism, and cultural exchange.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GUIDEBOOK IN MUARA KONOCO LESTARI TOURISM AWARENESS GROUP ACTIVITIES

The Muara Konoco Lestari Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) as a formal institution must of course carry out activities in accordance with the guidelines of the tourism awareness group. The research aims to describe the activities carried out by the Muara Konoco Lestari Tourism Awareness Group per the guidelines of the tourism awareness group book. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observing Pokdarwis activities, interviewing informants, and documentation. Data analysis starts from reduction, presentation and verification. Based on the guidebook for tourism awareness groups, there are six areas of activity that tourism awareness groups can implement. The results of the research show that Pokdarwis activities related to the guidelines implemented by Muara Konoco Lestari Pokdarwis still take the form of: 1. increasing the knowledge and insight of Pokdarwis members in the field of tourism; 2. Increasing the abilities and skills of members in managing the tourism business sector and other related businesses. Meanwhile, activities that have yet to be carried out are related to the Pokdarwis guidelines: 1. Encouraging and motivating the community to become good hosts in supporting tourism activities in their area; 2. Encourage and motivate the community to improve the quality of the environment and local tourism attractions through efforts to activate Sapta Pesona; 3. Collect, process and provide tourism information services to tourists and local communities; and 4. Providing input to government officials in developing tourism in the local area. The conclusion of the research is that several Pokdarwis function activities still need to be implemented optimally, so further action is needed so that the Muara Konoco Lestari tourism awareness group can implement activities based on the Pokdarwis guidebook.

‘We are the roots!’ Decolonial practices of local tourism

The roots of ancestral legacy persist entangled with the currents of modern globalisation. While the global tourism market promotes corporate ventures and international travel, rural and Indigenous communities confront the challenge of adapting amidst hegemonic influences. In coastal communities of Ecuador, the juxtaposition of pre-colonial belonging and contemporary tourism development exemplifies this tension. Drawing on decolonial perspectives, this paper investigates how rural Indigenous communities on the Pacific coast of Ecuador have navigated their tourism ventures, negotiating notions of private property, access to credit, and business administration formalities, while upholding traditional Indigenous values and collective land property needs—what we term decolonial practices of local tourism. Moreover, the emergence of proximity tourism offers a promising avenue for advancing decolonial practices within the global tourism market, prioritising geographical and cultural closeness over conventional distance-focused approaches. Employing a collaborative approach, the research integrates Indigenous methodologies with conventional research methods, bridging diverse backgrounds within the research team, including academia, consultancy, and Indigenous leadership. The analysis underscores the pivotal role of collective land ownership in preserving cultural identity and fostering resistance to capitalist encroachments. The study concludes with a call to amplify Indigenous voices, cultivate solidarity, and advocate for more inclusive and equitable approaches to tourism development. This imperative stems from the need to decolonise and promote culturally sensitive local tourism practices, urging a reconfiguration of the tourism industry towards a more equitable and respectful engagement with Indigenous communities.

Analisis Potensi Incentive Tour di Kota Cirebon

The city of Cirebon has emerged as a tourism destination city that has a variety of beauties, both natural beauty, artificial beauty, culinary, art, history and so on. In business management, in order to support tourism needs, the city of Cirebon follows developments by having more than 30 tours and travel companies that manage local, inter-city and overseas tourism. Incentive tours are often used by large companies as a form of appreciation for the performance results of the person concerned. This activity is also believed to be able to support individual loyalty to the company for a certain period of time. This method has been practiced by many out-of-town companies who send incentive tours to the city of Cirebon as a form of appreciation. This research was conducted in the city of Cirebon through observation and literature study in data collection and using qualitative methods. The results of data collection are described in accordance with current conditions and circumstances. The results of this research provide an illustration that tour and travel has a very important role in the world of tourism because it is one of the spearheads in developing tourism as well as being a driving force for tourists so that it is easier to find the information they want and can buy the service products offered. However, marketing in the incentive tour sector is still very minimal and is only known through word of mouth, not through large-scale promotions. Tour and travel service providers only create incentive tour package concepts by request from companies that contact them. There have not been any public tour packages operating in the corporate market.

The Strategy for Enhancing Tourism in Sengon Hills Through the Development of Facilities and Sustainable Tourism Promotion The real work lecture (KKN) activity in Girimulyo village, Girimulyo hamlet aims to improve the quality of Sengon Hill, which is a swimming pool tour in Girimulyo hamlet, through the development of facilities and sustainable tourism promotion. This KKN activity was carried out with the stages of field observation methods, interviews with BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises) administrators, discussions and documentation, this activity involved 10 KKN group members in Girimulyo hamlet. The result of this activity is the formation of a Sengon Edu Play ground which consists of playing while learning media in the form of snakes and ladders and puzzles. The next result is a website and tourist location plan which is one form of development of Sengon Hill tourism promotion that facilitates the spread of promotion in the form of Sengon Hill tourism information and attracts the attention of visitors in the form of visualization seen by tourists related to information from the website and unique tourist location plan.The making of Sengon Edu Play ground in Sengon Hill tourism aims to eliminate boredom in learning by learning while playing will be a solution to eliminate children's boredom in learning.

Building a Craft Villages -Zhanjiang National Intangible Cultural Heritage Art Inheritance Study

The non-heritage art gradually breaks down or even disappears due to the difficulty of inheritance, which is also one of the reasons leading to the imbalance of non-heritage cultural ecology . The construction of the craft village is a plan to reconstruct the cultural ecology of the non-heritage arts and crafts and the inheritance of non-heritage arts and crafts in the face of the state of disconnection . In the context of development of rural revitalization, Zhanjiang national non-heritage art will be transformed into a cultural brand with strong local characteristics, tourism projects and related creative industries. Assist the government in exploring and formulating more policy bases for the development of non-heritage inheritance, so that traditional cultural resources will occupy an important ratio in the future cultural industry. Exploring rural resident attitudes toward tourism live stream in rural destinations: an integrated model

ABSTRACT Tourism Live Stream, a fusion of new media technology and traditional tourism, has garnered scholarly attention mainly from the perspectives of consumers and suppliers. This study, uniquely, addresses the gap by investigating the attitudes of residents in tourist destinations toward tourism live stream, shedding light on untapped areas for future research. As custodians of local tourism resources and active participants in tourism activities, the viewpoints of residents hold paramount significance for the local implementation of tourism live stream. Employing a structural equation model, researcher examined a sample of 384 residents from rural Chinese tourist destinations, integrating attitudes, place attachment, tourism perception, and tourism participation. The findings underscore that residents’ perceptions of the benefits and costs brought about by tourism live stream exert substantial influence on their attitudes toward it. Additionally, residents’ attitudes toward the local tourism industry and their level of tourism engagement also play pivotal roles in shaping their attitudes.

Promoting Cultural Heritage Preservation through Agrotourism in Saint Lucia

Summary Since Saint Lucia became an accessible and consolidated destination in the 1990s, the domestic agricultural industry suffered a sharp decline. Many communities abandoned their fields and aimed for better-paid jobs in the tourism sector. Over time, the nation’s tourism sector reached a point of stagnation, lacking innovation and differentiation from neighbouring islands. The increase in tourism favoured the importation of foreign products rather than the use of local products to cater to international guests. The identity of local cuisine and traditional farming practices have been gradually lost. Through a series of interviews with local tourism entrepreneurs, this case study analyses the initiatives, challenges, and opportunities for integrating elements of traditional agricultural heritage into the tourism industry as an element of differentiation and cultural preservation. Pelatihan Keterampilan Komunikasi dalam Akomodasi Pondok Wisata pada Warga Desa Wisata Besani

Communication Skills Training in Homestay Business for Residents of Desa Wisata Besani Tourism has become a crucial sector in the local economic development and cultural preservation in Indonesia. This article discusses a training activity on communication skills within the context of homestay accommodation for the residents of Besani Tourism Village in Batang Regency, Central Java. The training, successfully conducted in November 2023, involved 28 participants from various segments of society, including homestay operators and members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). Through lectures and simulations, the pretest and post-test results showed a significant improvement from 18-36% to 89-100% in the understanding of communication skills. The outcomes of this training are expected to assist Besani Tourism Village in developing sustainable homestay businesses by engaging in collaborations with various stakeholders, enhancing management skills, digital marketing, and environmental conservation. This article provides new insights into the importance of communication skills training in the context of homestay accommodation within rural communities and offers recommendations for tourism village officials and residents of Besani Tourism Village to continue their efforts in local tourism development with enthusiasm for collaboration and active participation.

Resident Communities and Perception of Tourism Sustainability in Sun And Beach Destinations: An Empirical Analysis in The Province of Manabí (Ecuador)

Objective: To know the perception of the resident population on the multidimensional variables of sustainable tourism in sun and beach destinations in the province of Manabí, Ecuador. Theoretical reference: Within this process, methodologies developed by researchers who have worked in nature tourism, conservation and sustainable development were used. The contributions used as theoretical reference are related to the Organization for World Economic Cooperation and Development and its Pressure-State-Response model (OECD 1993); the methodology designed by Torres and Guzmán (2020) through the ISSOT tool to study the variables associated with the multidimensional nature of sustainable tourism or those developed by Casas et al. (2017) and Salvatore, Chiodo and Fantinni (2018). Method: This study was developed through mixed research with an exploratory descriptive approach. For this research, the use of the deductive method was considered for the processing and analysis of data and information collected. From the processed data, a triangulation of quantitative and qualitative data was implemented to achieve a greater understanding of the perception that residents have regarding the impacts generated by tourism in these destinations. Results and conclusion: The results analyzed in this work aim to make contributions to the orientation, design and implementation of public policies in Ecuadorian sun and beach destinations based on a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable tourism development. This requires considering that the benefits and costs perceived by residents play a fundamental role in the local tourism development process, as they will have a greater willingness to accept this development to the extent that the former surpass the latter. Implications of the research: The results of this research have served to validate the criteria, guidelines and variables related to the planning, management and sustainable development of tourism in the territory, all with a strategic and sustainable long-term approach that allows generating positive benefits for local rural populations without degrading ecosystems and through the conservation of natural heritage. Originality/value: This work is an authentic and original work that has been developed for several years through the Academy and scientific research in different territories of continental and insular Ecuador, which seeks to establish real data that allows generating valuable information for more effective and efficient decision making from the point of sustainability and local development.

View Preferences and Tourism Attraction Resources at Mangrove Guraping Tourism Objects, North Oba District, Tidore City, North Maluku Province

Mangrove forest tourism is a form of tourism activity by traveling around the mangrove forest area and enjoying all the uniqueness contained in it. The choice of a tourist location as a tourist destination is greatly influenced by tourist preferences and ecotourism resources are closely related to attractiveness. Elements of attraction include natural beauty, the abundance of prominent resources, the uniqueness of natural resources, the integrity of natural resources, the choice of recreational activities, and the diversity of natural resources. The aims of this research are: determining tourist view preferences and determining tourist attraction resources at the Guraping mangrove ecotourism object, North Oba District, Tidore Islands City. The data collection process includes field observations, distributing questionnaires, interviews, tourist view preferences and potential tourism resources. The research results showed that the preference for tourist views of the Guraping mangrove tourist attraction was that the mangrove forest landscape obtained the highest SBE value, while the village landscape obtained the lowest SBE value. Potential ecotourism attraction resources that can be developed include mangrove forests with fauna/diversity, bays and beaches, fish ponds and villages with social culture.

Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air Pikohidro untuk Kebutuhan Pengembangan Lokasi Wisata Bendungan Desa Menaming Rokan Hulu Riau

The Menaming Dam is located in Menaming Village, about 3 km away from residential areas, so it is far from the reach of electricity service providers. From the dam, the water is distributed through irrigation canals to the rice fields and fishery and contains hydraulic power, then could be utilized for electricity generation. The location of the dam has attractive views so that it becomes tourism, but there is no electricity available, causing its development to be hindered. Utilization of water resources in irrigation can be done by developing a waterwheel as driving for electricity generators. The power plant with an undershot waterwheel is very suitable to be developed because it is easy to manufacture and maintain. Besides that, the structure and shape can add to the beauty and attractiveness of visitors to tourist sites. Now a hydroelectric power plant has been installed with a total power of about 70 W. Electricity is transmitted using cables through the power poles and an LED light is installed on each of them. Furthermore, in one of the stalls in the tourist location, the installation of lights and sockets for charging mobile phones was made. Lights were also installed in an adjacent house.

Study on the Design Scheme of Vehicle Flow Lines in Unilateral Agglomerative Open Service Area

In recent years, with the introduction of the strategy to strengthen the country’s transportation infrastructure and the continuous implementation of new economic development models such as integrating transportation with tourism, various open service areas integrating highway service areas with local tourism have emerged nationwide. Examples include the Yangcheng Lake service area in Jiangsu and the Lengshui service area in Chongqing. This paper focuses on the design example of the Dazu Stone Carving service area on the Chongqing section of the Yurong Expressway, comprehensively considering factors such as construction scale, terrain conditions, and local urban planning. It analyzes and studies the traffic flow design of unilateral agglomerative open service areas around two vehicle traffic conversion links: between the main expressway and the service area, and between the service area and local roads. The aim is to provide a case study reference for similar projects.

Impact of information provision on tsunami evacuation behavior of residents and international tourists in Japan

Effective disaster management can help mitigate both human and financial damage. However, the absence of appropriate disaster preparedness and management efforts can increase the vulnerability of international tourists to natural disasters. International tourists differ from residents and local tourists in various ways, including limited knowledge of disasters and disaster responses, use of different languages, limited access to signs, and shelter locations and evacuation routes. This study developed an agent-based evacuation model to determine the differences in evacuation behaviors among international tourists, residents, and local tourists during a tsunami. Further, it clarified the impact of both soft and hard countermeasures such as information provision and shelter capacity expansion. Our case study was conducted in the Minato Bay area in Osaka, Japan. The simulation results revealed disparities in the evacuation behaviors between international tourists and residents in the arrival times at shelters. The enhanced sign accessibility and provision of signs in multiple languages significantly reduced the arrival time of international tourists at shelters. Consequently, it is necessary to improve disaster management plans that ensure information provision in multiple languages and the establishment of temporary shelters near tourism spots to support international tourists during disaster evacuation.

Development of tourism and tourism services in the canton of Nobol

The study seeks to investigate tourism development in Cantón Nobol, identify the most popular services among visitors, and examine areas for improvement in the local tourism sector. Qualitative and quantitative research is employed. The study sample includes tourists between the ages of 13 and 70 to ensure a diverse representation, while data collection is done through a digital survey using Google Forms. The results respond to the TES research project, "Tourism strategy of products and services for the strengthening of tourism micro-enterprises and SMEs in Nobol Canton". They help to have a complete vision of the perception of tourism and quality of life in Nobol Canton, pointing out both strengths and opportunities for improvement to consolidate its position as a desired tourist destination. Although Cantón Nobol already has a solid tourism base and well evaluated services, there are still areas with potential for growth and improvement within the regional tourism sector.

Agro-Health Tourism Management Innovation Based on Local Wisdom to The Creative Economy Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai

This research aims to 1) manage knowledge and wisdom about the use of herbal medicine in the Ban Muang Kham community, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, 2) develop herbal products and design health agro tourism activities by using the design thinking process, and 3) transfer knowledge of the developing herbal products and designing healthy agro tourism activities. The research was conducted in 3 phases, consisting of Phase 1 managing knowledge and wisdom about the use of herbal medicine in the Ban Muang Kham community, Phase 2 developing herbal products and designing health agro tourism activities by using the design thinking process, and Phase 3 transferring knowledge of herbal products and designing healthy agro tourism activities. The results of the study found that The Ban Muang Kham uses 24 types of local herbs and plants for treatment and health care. They have knowledge in processing 6 products for use in the household and for sale. The researcher has developed 3 prototype herbal products as follows: yellow oil with stretched grass tendon, herbal clay for knees, and foot soak herbs. This prototype product was developed based on the results of a survey of purchasing and demand of users and tourists. Then transfer knowledge on herbal product development through design 6 health agro-tourism courses to the community, contains a course on herbal processing to promote health tourism, product development course, packaging design course, Tong-sen massage course, course of eating according to life elements, and courses on calculating costs and selling prices. There were a total of 135 people participating in the knowledge transfer. The community should continuously drive community tourism development operations. Training in being a local tour guide to develop the potential of community tour leaders or tour guides to welcome tourists. Coordinate and create a network for community tourism development operations with local government organizations and local and provincial tourism partners to enhance community potential and strength. And improve the landscape to impress tourists or people who come to visit.

The Relationship Between Employee Engagement and Employee Productivity

This study evaluates local tourism in Iran, focusing on domestic travel. The initial analysis explores the broader role In our study we provide a literature review on the relationship between employee engagement and effectiveness, exploring recent human resource trends. We briefly introduce HR trends for the 21st century, such as sustainable and green corporate goals and leadership. We compare large South African companies such as Vodacom, Standard Bank, and Sibanye still Waters with world-renowned multinationals such as Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and Samsung to identify and illustrate the parallelism of trends and similarities while pointing out local specificities that guarantee local success. The method chosen is not a retrospective exploration but a presentation of the most recent literature. Our aim was to project the engagement and productivity of South African employees.

Is the ancient city of Benin Kingdom a preferred tourist location? A qualitative-based study to achieving sustainable development Goal 11

Studies on preferred tourist locations focus on developed countries and selected Asian cities. Many African cities like the Ancient City of Benin Kingdom (ACBK) have been grossly under-researched in global extant literature regarding preferred tourist locations and how they may improve achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Goal 11). Thus, this study examines the attributes of a tourist location. Also, it investigates perceived barriers facing the ancient city and suggests measures to improve achieving the ACBK as a tourist location and, by extension, improve achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11 in Nigeria. The study adopted qualitative research and collected primary data via face-to-face interviews and observations of tourist locations. A convenient sampling technique was used to select 30 knowledgeable participants. The researchers analysed the collected data manually. Findings reveal nature destinations (historical/archaeological), natural attractions, ecotourism/wildlife, landform areas, prompt quality services, basic amenities/infrastructure, mangrove forests, and safety/security as the attributes of a global tourist location. Findings show that the sustenance of these attributes will improve achieving Goal 11. Also, the findings identified the barriers and recommended measures to mitigate them and, by extension, promote ACBK as a preferred tourist location and improve achieving Goal 11. This study reawakens the need for all-inclusive tourism planning management and marketing in developing countries.
