In Soviet pedagogy the theory of communist upbringing has developed on the ideational basis of Marxism-Leninism as revolutionary teachings constituting a whole, harmonious system of philosophical, economic, and sociopolitical views. The teachings of K. Marx, F. Engels, and V. I. Lenin regarding education are an integral part of scientific communism and serve the working people's struggle to build a new social order that ensures the comprehensive development of each member of society. The development of the theory of education as a system of generalized knowledge regarding the essence and patterns of the purposeful forming of the new [Soviet] man, who is an active, politically aware builder and champion of communism, is closely associated with the practical development of communist education in the school, the family, Young Pioneer and Komsomol organizations, and work collectives. Enriched by experience, educational theory serves the further improvement of practical educational activity.
