Abstract

At its most recent congress (the Twenty-Fourth), held in the spring of 1971, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union charged the Communist Youth League (Komsomol) with responsibility for educating young people in the spirit of communist ideology and loyalty to the Soviet state. Last month's issue of Soviet Education dealt with the educational functions of the Youth League in indoctrinating youth in the community and at their places of work. This month's issue deals with the functions of the Komsomol in the more circumscribed arena of Soviet schools.
