Coastal Environment Profile (CEP) Presentation and Training-Workshop for Barangay Mana, Malita, Davao Occidental, Philippines: Engaging Stakeholders and Establishing a Community-Based Mangrove Nursery

The Coastal Environmental Profile (CEP) Presentation and Training-Workshop for Brgy. Mana, Malita, Davao Occidental, aimed to engage local stakeholders and establish a community-based mangrove nursery. Objectives included presenting the CEP to Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) officials and stakeholders, conducting a training-workshop on CEP, and establishing a mangrove nursery. The methodology involved forming a project team, conducting an inception meeting, courtesy calls, signing MOAs, and organizing a project orientation. Implementation included presenting the CEP, conducting a training-workshop with BLGU-Mana officials, BVBSNHS, and local organizations, and establishing the nursery. Significant findings revealed that the CEP provided comprehensive data on the coastal environment, including socio-political landscape, natural resources, and economic activities. The training-workshop raised environmental awareness and equipped participants with knowledge for coastal resource management. The community-based mangrove nursery was established to support conservation efforts. The project successfully enhanced local stakeholders' understanding and commitment to sustainable coastal development, highlighting the importance of collaborative and inclusive strategies in achieving environmental resilience.

THE ROLE OF ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION MEDIATION IN THE INFLUENCE OF EMPLOYEE MUTATION AND INTERNAL COMMUNICATION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE (A STUDY AT KPP PRATAMA SERANG BARAT)

This study aims to measure the influence of employee mutation and internal communication on employee performance with achievement motivation as a mediating variable. This study was conducted at the West Serang Pratama Tax Service Office using a questionnaire as the main data collection tool, which included respondent profiles and questions related to the variables studied. The results of this research are expected to contribute to knowledge in human resource management, especially related to employee mutation, internal communication, achievement motivation and its effect on employee performances and can be used as the reference for further research and development. The mediation test proves that achievement motivation can mediate internal communication relationships on employees' performance.

The Impact of Knowledge Management Processes on Intellectual Capital: An Exploratory Study of Employees at Al-Rasheed Bank 515 In Diwaniya, Iraq

Objectives: This study explores the relationship between knowledge management processes and intellectual capital, examining their impact on enhancing data analysis capabilities and employee performance at Al-Rasheed Bank 515 in Diwaniya, Iraq. Key objectives include identifying the correlation between intellectual capital and knowledge management processes, assessing how these processes influence intellectual capital capabilities, and investigating demographic-based differences in employee responses. Methods: The research employs a descriptive and analytical approach, utilizing surveys distributed among employees at Al-Rasheed Bank 515. The study is organized into three sections: theoretical frameworks on knowledge management and intellectual capital, a descriptive overview of Al-Rasheed Bank 515, and a detailed analysis of the research sample. Results: Findings indicate that a flexible organizational structure significantly contributes to enhancing intellectual capital at the bank. A positive relationship was observed between knowledge management, intellectual capital, and human resources, both at macro and dimensional levels. Intellectual capital demonstrated a positive mediating role between knowledge management and human resource development, with an indirect impact of knowledge management on human resources (0.817) that was notably stronger than the direct impact (0.458). Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of knowledge management processes in strengthening intellectual capital within the banking sector. Effective knowledge management processes enhance intellectual capital capabilities, leading to improved organizational performance and a competitive edge in the banking industry.

The Mediating Effect of Innovative Performance on the Relationship Between the Use of Information Technology and Organizational Agility in SMEs

The current study has four main objectives. First, it aims to investigate the effect of the relationship between information technology (IT) dimensions (customer relationship management, knowledge management, and human resource management) and innovative practices on organizational agility in small and medium-size companies (SMEs). Second, it seeks to measure the relationship between IT components and innovative performance. Third, it examines the impact of innovative performance on organizational agility. Fourth it explores the mediating role of innovative performance in the relationship between IT and organizational agility. These objectives provide a clear roadmap for the research and guide the analysis and interpretation of the findings. This paper’s statistical population was composed of senior managers in SMEs in Khorsaran Razavi, Iran. The data were collected using standard questionnaires, 172 which were received in 2023 and analyzed using SPSS version 25 and SmartPLS version 4 software. The results demonstrate that using customer relationships, human resources, and knowledge management as three dimensions of IT and innovative performance can enhance organizational agility. Moreover, innovative performance plays a crucial role as a mediator, strengthening the impact of information IT dimensions on organizational agility. These findings underscore the practical relevance for companies operating in a dynamic economic environment. Special attention to organizational agility and practical factors will increase flexibility, speed of response, etc., and, ultimately, companies’ success in this tense economic environment. The innovation of this research is that the three dimensions of IT, including evaluating customer relationship management, human resource management, and knowledge management, is a growing research field in organizational agility. Therefore, this research is vital in empowering SMEs to increase agility. By evaluating the effect of the four variables of knowledge management, customer relationship management, human resource management, and innovative performance on organizational agility in SMEs, on the one hand, this research expands the theoretical literature and, on the other hand, helps such companies.

The Hybridisation, Resilience, and Loss of Local Knowledge and Natural Resource Management in Zambia

AbstractThe contribution of Indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) to natural resource management has recently gained increasing prominence in academia, policymaking, and civil society. However, persistent knowledge gaps concerning the contribution of ILK to sustainable landscape management remain. We investigate existing local knowledge and practices of the Tonga of Kalomo District, Zambia, and their contribution to sustainable landscape management by combining walking interviews with photovoice. Especially Tonga women and youth are important knowledge holders for land management, agricultural practices, and tree conservation. We found that local knowledge is often ‘hybridised’ with ‘external knowledge’ when local knowledge alone is deemed insufficient. In some cases, introduced ‘external knowledges’ are simply reconstituted long-standing local practices. Nevertheless, local communities often perceive external knowledge holders as “knowing better.” Finally, we show how local knowledge and associated practices have been simultaneously eroded and lost and describe those that have remained resilient to provide insights into the complexity of hybridisation processes where different knowledge systems interact.

A research data management (RDM) community for ELIXIR.

Research data management (RDM) is central to the implementation of the FAIR (Findable Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and Open Science principles. Recognising the importance of RDM, ELIXIR Platforms and Nodes have invested in RDM and launched various projects and initiatives to ensure good data management practices for scientific excellence. These projects have resulted in a rich set of tools and resources highly valuable for FAIR data management. However, these resources remain scattered across projects and ELIXIR structures, making their dissemination and application challenging. Therefore, it becomes imminent to coordinate these efforts for sustainable and harmonised RDM practices with dedicated forums for RDM professionals to exchange knowledge and share resources. The proposed ELIXIR RDM Community will bring together RDM experts to develop ELIXIR's vision and coordinate its activities, taking advantage of the available assets. It aims to coordinate RDM best practices and illustrate how to use the existing ELIXIR RDM services. The Community will be built around three integral pillars, namely, a network of RDM professionals, RDM knowledge management and RDM training expertise and resources. It will also engage with external stakeholders to leverage benefits and provide a forum to RDM professionals for regular knowledge exchange, capacity building and development of harmonised RDM practices, keeping in line with the overall scope of the RDM Community. In the short term, the Community aims to build upon the existing resources and ensure that the content of these remain up to date and fit for purpose. In the long run, the Community will aim to strengthen the skills and knowledge of its RDM professionals to support the emerging needs of the scientific community. The Community will also devise an effective strategy to engage with other ELIXIR structures and international stakeholders to influence and align with developments and solutions in the RDM field.

Knowledge Management and Human Resource Management to Innovate: An Empirical Analysis in the Textile Industry

This research aims to understand the impact of knowledge management and human resource management on innovation in textile industry companies in central-western Mexico. This is a qualitative, descriptive, correlational study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample is simply random and is made up of 386 companies in the textile industry. A structured questionnaire was applied using a Likert-type scale with five ranges. The information analysis used the Structural Equation Model (SEMPLS). In the results, the analysis of the statistical parameters t – t-student and p-value confirm the statistical significance of the Path coefficients with 95% confidence. The results of the research coincide with some of the literature. This research fills a gap in the literature on the phenomenon studied.

Colonial Entanglements and Ecological Power: Spice Commodification in Dune Movie

This study examines the themes of colonial entanglement and ecological power in the film Dune (2021), focusing on the commodification of the spice "melange" on Arrakis. Using postcolonial ecocriticism and cultural studies frameworks, it explores how the film portrays environmental exploitation and the marginalization of the indigenous Fremen. The analysis reveals how colonial powers, like House Harkonnen and House Atreides, dehumanize and oppress the Fremen, ignoring their ecological knowledge and cultural significance. By drawing parallels to real-world colonial histories, the study highlights the film's critique of environmental degradation and cultural marginalization. It underscores the importance of recognizing indigenous knowledge and rights for sustainable and equitable resource management. Climate change and adaptive capacity in the community of Diaguitas, Chile: A descriptive-comparative vision in two time periods

ABSTRACT Water scarcity is a phenomenon that has generated great concern today. The drought scenario has particularly affected rural communities in the semi-arid region of northern Chile socially, economically, and environmentally as they try to adapt to climate change. This article focuses on the description and comparison of the institutional adaptive capacity of the Chilean community of Diaguitas to adapt to the effects on water resources and extreme events during two periods of time (2004–2007 and 2018–2019). This qualitative study considered the administration of interviews, field observations, and focus groups using the adaptive capacity wheel as a methodological basis. The results show differences in the ability to adapt between the two periods studied with most of the adaptive dimensions at a neutral or no effect level and the emergence of a new dimension of social capital. It was concluded that the adaptive capacity of the Diaguitas might have improved over time, influenced by the increased awareness of the consequences of climate change and the establishment of supportive institutions. It is necessary to incorporate new perspectives into water management, such as indigenous knowledge and collaborative resource management.

The mediating role of knowledge management processes on the relationship between knowledge-based HRM practices and open innovation in SMEs

Purpose Studies have demonstrated the role of human resource management (HRM) practices and knowledge management processes (KMPs) in innovative performance. However, there is limited focus on the role of HRM practices in facilitating KMPs in organizations, most especially in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are constrained by lack of adequate resources, making them dependent on external sources of knowledge. In addressing this gap, this study aims to investigate the link between knowledge-based HRM practices and open innovation (OI) activities through KMPs in Jordanian SMEs. Design/methodology/approach Following the survey method, 500 manufacturing SMEs in Jordan were randomly selected as participants, with a total of 335 responses collated. The structural equation modeling technique, based on AMOS, was used in analyzing the collected data. Findings The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between knowledge-based HRM practices and OI. In addition, KMPs was determined to be a significant mediator of the relationship between knowledge -based HRM practices and OI. Originality/value The study contributes to the literature by emphasizing the organizational elements that boost OI in SMEs. The findings hold significant implications for enhancing the performance of innovativeness, competitiveness and the socioeconomic advancement in the SMEs sector.

I-FinTech Adoption Mediation on the Financial Literacy Elements and Sustainable Entrepreneurship among Bumiputera MSMEs in Malaysia

The term “i-FinTech” refers to businesses or entrepreneurs that integrate modern, Shariah-compliant technologies with financial services. Nevertheless, MSMEs are typically having lack internal knowledge or poor management, incompetent entrepreneurs, and limited financial resources. The purpose of this research is to analyse if financial literacy elements affect i-FinTech adoption and, in turn, promote sustainable entrepreneurship among Bumiputera SMEs in Selangor, Malaysia. A convenience sample strategy was used to disseminate 1,394 surveys to the Bumiputera entrepreneurs, utilizing a quantitative approach. PLS-SEM and mediation analysis are used to analyse the data. The findings indicate that financial literacy and digital financial literacy have a favorable and significant impact on the adoption of i-Fintech. On the other hand, the adoption of i-Fintech is adversely affected by financial management behavior. Furthermore, this study shows that the relationship between financial literacy and digital financial literacy towards sustainable entrepreneurship is mediated in a complimentary way by the adoption of i-FinTech. This result indicates that Bumiputera business owners that are financially and digitally literate are more likely to use i-FinTech and ultimately make a substantial contribution to sustainable entrepreneurship. The results should improve knowledge of the dynamics between the potential of i-FinTech and sustainable entrepreneurship for researchers, regulators, entrepreneurs, and i-FinTech service providers. It is advised that MSMEs keep using i-FinTech to support their operations in order to minimise the effects of a downturn in the market and maintain seamless operations.

The impact of knowledge characteristics on process performance: experimenting with the conversion perspective on knowledge transfer velocity

PurposeWith shorter product cycles and a growing number of knowledge-intensive business processes, time consumption is a highly relevant target factor in measuring the performance of contemporary business processes. This research aims to extend prior research on the effects of knowledge transfer velocity at the individual level by considering the effect of complexity, stickiness, competencies, and further demographic factors on knowledge-intensive business processes at the conversion-specific levels.Design/methodology/approachWe empirically assess the impact of situation-dependent knowledge transfer velocities on time consumption in teams and individuals. Further, we issue the demographic effect on this relationship. We study a sample of 178 experiments of project teams and individuals applying ordinary least squares (OLS) for regression analysis-based modeling.FindingsThe authors find that time consumed at knowledge transfers is negatively associated with the complexity of tasks. Moreover, competence among team members has a complementary effect on this relationship and stickiness retards knowledge transfers. Thus, while demographic factors urgently need to be considered for effective and speedy knowledge transfers, these influencing factors should be addressed on a conversion-specific basis so that some tasks are realized in teams best while others are not. Guidelines and interventions are derived to identify best task realization variants, so that process performance is improved by a new kind of process improvement method.Research limitations/implicationsThis study establishes empirically the importance of conversion-specific influence factors and demographic factors as drivers of high knowledge transfer velocities in teams and among individuals. The contribution connects the field of knowledge management to important streams in the wider business literature: process improvement, management of knowledge resources, design of information systems, etc. Whereas the model is highly bound to the experiment tasks, it has high explanatory power and high generalizability to other contexts.Practical implicationsTeam managers should take care to allow the optimal knowledge transfer situation within the team. This is particularly important when knowledge sharing is central, e.g. in product development and consulting processes. If this is not possible, interventions should be applied to the individual knowledge transfer situation to improve knowledge transfers among team members.Social implicationsFaster and more effective knowledge transfers improve the performance of both commercial and non-commercial organizations. As nowadays, the individual is faced with time pressure to finalize tasks, the deliberated increase of knowledge transfer velocity is a core capability to realize this goal. Quantitative knowledge transfer models result in more reliable predictions about the duration of knowledge transfers. These allow the target-oriented modification of knowledge transfer situations so that processes speed up, private firms are more competitive and public services are faster to citizens.Originality/valueTime consumption is an increasingly relevant factor in contemporary business but so far not been explored in experiments at all. This study extends current knowledge by considering quantitative effects on knowledge velocity and improved knowledge transfers.

The role of innovative human resource management practices, organizational support and knowledge worker effort in counteracting job burnout in the Polish business services sector.

This study focuses on analyzing the impact of innovative human resource management practices (IHRMP) on knowledge worker burnout, and how organizational support and employee effort help explain this relationship in the context of the business services sector. To explore the problem, investigated whether IHRMP have a significant negative impact on employee burnout, and organizational support and employee effort mediate the negative impact of IHRMP on employee burnout. A survey was conducted, collected using the computer assisted web interview method on 1000 knowledge workers employed at business services sector (BSS) organizations in Poland. The quantitative results obtained were analyzed using AMOS software to test the main statistical relationships and through structural equation modeling. The study outlines direct and indirect mechanisms to counteract perceived burnout among knowledge workers. The article contributes to the understanding of how IHRMP reduce burnout among knowledge workers and highlights the central importance of organizational support and employee effort as mediating factors against burnout in the context of high-skill, high-intensity work. The expected results in terms of application provide a proposal of measures for managers' consideration that can be implemented in the organization with a view to counteracting the incidence of burnout among BSS employees. Analysis of Determinants Factors Affecting Organizational Citizenship Behaviour in Post-Merger Sharia Banks

Purpose: This study investigates the determinants of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), focusing on the relationship between Organizational Culture, Organizational Commitment, Career Development, and OCB. Method: Using a Literature Review approach, this study analyzes scholarly articles published from 2016 to 2020 to identify gaps in research and explore the mediation effect of Career Development on the relationship between Organizational Culture and Organizational Commitment in influencing OCB. Results and conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of Organizational Culture, Organizational Commitment, and Career Development in shaping OCB. While existing literature extensively examines OCB's relationship with organizational factors, such as culture and commitment, this study emphasizes the need for further research on the mediating role of career development. It also suggests that OCB is influenced by changes in organizational strategy and the implementation of human resource management practices, particularly in Indonesian companies. Research implications: The study provides theoretical insights into OCB determinants and practical implications for organizational management in fostering OCB. It underscores the significance of considering career development alongside cultural and commitment factors. Originality/value: This research contributes to the literature by addressing gaps in research and emphasizing the importance of career development in shaping OCB. It offers valuable insights for organizational management and contributes to the advancement of knowledge in organizational behavior and human resource management.

A Study on the Employee Welfare Schemes on Organizational Performance in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector.

In today's dynamic business environment, characterized by fierce competition and rapidly evolving consumer demands, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector stands out as a pivotal industry. Within this landscape, organizations strive not only to maintain competitiveness but also to thrive by attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent. Employee welfare schemes have emerged as a strategic tool for achieving these objectives, as organizations recognize the significant impact of employee well-being on overall organizational performance. This study endeavours to delve deeper into the nexus between employee welfare schemes and organizational performance within the FMCG sector. With the overarching aim of contributing to the existing body of knowledge in human resource management and organizational studies, this research adopts a comprehensive mixed-methods approach. By integrating quantitative analysis and qualitative insights, this study seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted relationship between employee welfare initiatives and organizational success. At its core, the quantitative component of this research entails the collection of primary data through surveys administered to employees and managers across diverse FMCG companies. These surveys will capture vital information regarding the types of employee welfare schemes implemented, their perceived effectiveness, and their impact on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, employee satisfaction, retention rates, and overall organizational success metrics.

Flexible Work Arrangements, Stress, Work-Life Balance, and Motivation: their Implications on Junior High School Teachers in the Depok Region

This study aims to analyse Flexible Work Arrangements, Stress, Work-Life Balance, and Motivation and Their Implications on Junior High School Teachers in the Depok Region. The research provides both theoretical and managerial implications as inputs for Work-Life Balance influenced by Flexible Work Arrangements and Stress as exogenous variables through Motivation as a moderating variable. The population in this study comprises Junior High School Teachers in the Depok Region, utilizing Snowball Sampling technique in an effort to gather respondents numbering more than 100. Data from these respondents are then analysed for their fit with the research model developed from the theoretical framework using SmartPLS SEM analysis. The results of this study are expected to: (1) Analyse and test all factors influencing Motivation and Work-Life Balance, namely Flexible Work Arrangements and stress, (2) Provide additional information for the Depok City Government for policy formulation regarding assessment and enhancement of motivation as well as efforts to improve teachers' work-life balance for the better, (3) Provide additional information and knowledge for Human Resource Management, especially its implications for enhancing Motivation and Work-Life Balance in schools. The hypothesis testing results prove that: 1) Flexible Work Arrangements have a positive and significant effect on work motivation. 2) Stress has a positive and significant effect on work motivation. 3) Motivation has a positive and significant effect on work-life balance. 4) Flexible Work Arrangements have a positive and significant effect on work-life balance. 5) Stress does not affect work-life balance. 6) Flexible Work Arrangements indirectly have a positive and significant effect on work-life balance through motivation. 7) Stress indirectly has a positive and significant effect on work-life balance through motivation.

Harmony and Sustainability: Traditional Ecological Knowledge Systems of the Kaluppini Indigenous People

The existence of knowledge of local indigenous local knowledge in natural resource management has experienced a shift. This research aims to reveal the forms of wise tought of the natural environment by the Kaluppini indigenous people, and to reveal how the Kaluppini community maintains the ecological knowledge systems. This research used ethnographic methods. It is a qualitative research procedure for describing, analyzing, and interpreting elements of a cultural group such as behavior patterns, beliefs, and language that develop over time. Data analysis techniques are processed. The collected data was analyzed by using Berkes' theory (1980). The research results show that the Kaluppini indigenous people maintain their traditional ecological knowledge from time time. First, traditional institutions which include the role of traditional stakeholders along with the legal system and rules for implementing traditional rituals, play a core role in maintaining harmony between society and the environment. Second, ethical land management in the form of traditional agricultural methods, pest and disease control, crop rotation systems, selection of plant varieties, and efficient irrigation systems support agricultural sustainability. Third, the existence of myths related to nature produces a respectful attitude towards the surrounding natural environment. Finally, the implementation of zoning reflects a wise policy to conserve natural resources while meeting community needs. It is important to recognize that most regions in Indonesia are currently facing serious challenges in the form of the climate crisis, including the phenomenon of long droughts that threaten agricultural activities and daily life. However, the Kaluppini community stands out as a unique example amidst this changing climate.

The Impact of Organizational Learning on Organizational Resilience in Construction Projects

In an increasingly volatile environment, organizational learning plays a crucial role in helping organizations turn crises into opportunities and enhance organizational resilience. However, the existing research remains unclear on how organizational learning affects the formation of organizational resilience. The aim of this study is to explore the pathways by which organizational learning impacts organizational resilience. An in-depth understanding of the learning within project organizations was initially obtained through field research and interviews. This investigation identified two distinct methods of learning within these organizations: acquisitive learning and experimental learning. A significant impact of managerial cognition on the process of organizational learning was also discovered. Subsequently, building upon the existing literature and research, a cognitive measurement scale for project managers was developed and validated through two iterations of questionnaire collection. Lastly, data pertaining to various variables were gathered via designed questionnaires, and a structural equation model was established to explore the interplay between organizational learning, managerial cognition, and organizational resilience. The findings reveal that organizational learning can enrich the cognition of managers, thereby enhancing the resilience of the organization. Managerial cognition plays a mediating role in the relationship between organizational learning and organizational resilience. In practice, it is recommended that organizations attach importance to the establishment of a learning-oriented organizational culture and foster a habit of proactive learning among their members. They should also strengthen the management of internal knowledge resources and pay attention to the iterative refinement of organizational management norms.

The Role of Gamification Research in Human Resource Management: A PRISMA Analysis and Future Research Direction

Gamification, which involves incorporating game-like elements in non-game contexts, has quickly become one of the most popular persuasive technologies. Its goal is to encourage users to change their behavior for the better. However, it still has empirical and theoretical challenges to overcome to show the benefits of its use and solidify the guiding principles for effective gamification designs. The goal of the current study is to synthesize and intellectualize, through a systematic literature review (SLR), the current state of gamification knowledge in human resource management, providing a road map for future research recommendations for both academician and practitioners The review examines the most influential writing on the application of gamification to association settings, portrays the fundamental concepts of gamification, and develops based on an effective writing survey of insightful articles available in the Scopus and Web of Science information bases. The study uses a systematic quantitative approach to review the evidence for the use of gamification in Human Resources management, focusing on the pertinent literature on gamification in organizations. The authors examined 244 papers published between 2013 and 2022 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) technique. One of the major goals of the study’s findings is to illustrate the value of gamification in the human resources field in relation to the analysis of employee performance, employee engagement, and training and development. These results suggest that there is more opportunity for research into the elements of gamification, which may be relate to knowledge retention, learning outcomes, learning motivation, employee efficacy, and employee productivity.
