Research on College Students' Attitudes Towards Online Learning Platforms and Their Impact on Learning Engagement: A Case Study of the "Cloud Classroom" Teaching Platform

With the continuous advancement of information technology and its deepening integration with educational teaching, online learning has developed rapidly. Online learning platforms have become increasingly sophisticated, and many universities choose Yun Class as the platform to provide diverse teaching interactions for teachers and students. To understand students' attitudes towards using the Yun Class platform for professional courses and its impact on student engagement, a survey was conducted among 80 junior college students majoring in Finance at the College of Applied Sciences, Beijing Union University, from the class of 2022. The collected data were organized and analyzed using software such as SPSS26, Amos22, and Graphpad7.0. Research findings show that students' attitudes towards using Yun Class significantly influence two sub-dimensions of learning engagement—emotional engagement and behavioral engagement. This indicates that students generally support the use of the Yun Class platform for professional courses, and this supportive attitude positively affects their learning engagement. The study concludes that Yun Class, as an aid to teaching, embodies the student-centered teaching philosophy and provides a convenient and powerful learning platform for independent student learning, which is worth promoting. It also points out that the implementation of teaching using the Yun Class platform must highlight the crucial role of teachers, strengthen supervision and guidance, focus on cultivating students' ability for independent learning, and improve the learning outcomes based on the Yun Class platform.

A Study of the Current Status of Inclusive Education Literacy Development Among College Normal Students Majoring in Early Childhood Education—Taking Province G in China as an Example

Inclusive early childhood education is a major trend globally in the pursuit of equitable and high-quality preschool education, and it is an indispensable part of building a high-quality education system in China. Developing an excellent teaching workforce in inclusive early childhood education is key to improving the quality of preschool integration, and pre-service training is particularly crucial. This study focuses on preschool education major students in G Province, China, using a questionnaire survey method to assess the levels of various dimensions of inclusive education literacy among these students, identify existing issues, draw research conclusions, and provide recommendations. The results indicate that students have a high level of understanding of inclusive education concepts, but their knowledge and skills are relatively low. There are significant differences in inclusive education literacy levels among students from different school tiers and grades, with junior college students scoring higher than undergraduate college students. Additionally, there are no significant differences in inclusive education literacy based on gender or whether students have had face-to-face contact with exceptional children. The findings of this study can serve as a valuable resource for the pre-service training of early childhood teachers in inclusive education literacy.

Effect of Mastery Learning Combined with Mind Mapping Technique on the Students’ Sculpture Performance Ability for Junior University Students

Background and Aims: The Chinese government has issued a series of policy documents to support the development of the cultural industry, providing policy guarantees and guidance for the development of sculpture education. Traditional teaching methods usually use unified teaching content and teaching methods, which cannot meet the individual needs of students. The comprehensive application of "Mastery Learning with Mind Mapping" theory and methods can provide solid technical support and rich teaching methods for the reform of sculpture education. Through the application of personalized learning plans and mind mapping, students' learning content and space can be expanded, and their learning efficiency and learning quality can be improved. This comprehensive approach can not only meet students' learning needs but also stimulate their learning interest and creativity and promote their all-round development. Therefore, the promotion and application of this method in sculpture education are of great significance and value. This study aims to explore and evaluate the impact of mastery learning combined with mind mapping technique on college students' sculpture learning achievements and performance ability through mastery learning combined with mind mapping technique. Materials and Methods: The instruments for the experiment were four lesson plans. To evaluate the quality of a curriculum plan, it can be assessed using a Likert five-point scale. The quality of the scale can be measured using the Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) The assessment process involves analyzing each component of the lesson plan, attributing scores on the Likert scale, and then calculating the average score and the standard deviation (SD) for each component. The instruments for collecting data were two instruments needed to collect the sampling data, as the detailed list showed: sculpture score assessment and sculpture performance competency assessment. The sample was 30 students (one class) among the 120 junior students in the 2023 academic year. The procedures for data collection are as follows, the sample learning achievement before and after learning through Mastery Learning with Mind mapping and sculpture performance ability after learning through Mastery Learning with Mind mapping with the established 70 percent Results: The study evaluated the effectiveness of employing mastery learning combined with mind mapping techniques to enhance students' learning achievement and sculpture performance ability. Significant improvement was observed, with posttest scores surpassing pretest scores (t =13.06*, p =0.05). Furthermore, students' sculpture performance ability scores after mastering learning with mind mapping (81.1%) exceeded the 70% criterion, with statistical significance (t =11.05*, p =0.001). Conclusion: Compared with previous related studies, the results of this study showed that using mastery learning combined with mind mapping technique teaching had a significant positive effect on the sophomore research on sculpture performance ability. This is consistent with the findings of Chen Linsheng (2022), who found that the use of mind-mapping techniques in art education can improve students' learning achievement. Combining the findings of previous studies and the results of this study, we can conclude that mastery learning combined with mind mapping technique teaching has positive effects on the ability of sculpture performance in sophomore students. However, further research still needs to explore the impact of different teaching methods on students of different grades and specialties to get a more comprehensive understanding of the effects of mastery learning combined with mind-mapping technique teaching.

Mindfulness-enhancing instruction (MEI): Contributions to electroencephalogram (EEG) Dynamics, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), and effective learning

The current study examined the role of mindfulness-enhancing instruction (MEI) in university students’ Electroencephalogram (EEG) dynamics, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), and effective learning. In so doing, 60 junior university students, being screened out of 72 available sample, were randomly assigned into two groups. MEI was incorporated into class activities of the experimental group during the term. A package containing a host of activities was devised, integrating general meditation practices with educational MEI. These in-class activities were complemented with daily at-home practices offered by a mobile application. To assess participants’ level of HOTS, two tests from the “Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal” (CTA) (Form A) was utilized. In this study, inference and deduction modules were included. The participants responded to the tests while they were involved in EEG acquisition. The results of statistical analysis demonstrated the efficiency of the implemented MEI in enhancing two dimensions of HOTS (inference-making & deduction) as well as academic achievement. The EEG analysis demonstrated notable changes in the experimental group's brain activity patterns. Specifically, there was a significant decrease in the ratio of energy in the alpha to beta frequency band (α/β ratio) for Fp1 and Fp2 channels post-meditation, indicative of heightened attentiveness. Conversely, the control group exhibited less pronounced changes in the EEG measures.

Association Between Internet Addiction and Dietary Habits Among Omani Junior College Students.

This study aimed to investigate the association between internet addiction and dietary habits among Omani junior college students. This cross-sectional study was conducted at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman, among junior college students surveyed in November 2020. The Compulsive Internet Use Scale and a dietary habits questionnaire were used. Chi-square cross-tabulation analyses were used to explore the relationship between internet addiction and dietary habits. A total of 377 students were included in this study. Overall, 59.9% of the junior college students were identified as having an internet addiction. Within this group, 62.8% reported reduced meal sizes and 54.4% reported a decrease in appetite. There was a statistically significant difference in both meal size (X2 = 30.528; P <0.001) and appetite changes (X2 = 28.731; P <0.001) among students with different levels of internet addiction. The results of this study suggest a possible link between internet addiction and altered dietary habits among this population. This study highlights the need for strategies that encourage healthy living behaviours and raise awareness about the adverse effects of internet addiction.

Pedagogy in Legal Terminology Translation: A Corpus-based Approach

This paper explores effective pedagogical practices to train high-end foreign legal professionals in China’s Greater Bay Area by answering two research questions. First, can corpus-based teaching be applied as a productive pedagogical method? Second, how can beginner professionals be cultivated in legal translation capabilities in the legal domain? The paper proposes a module entitled “Introduction to Legal Terminology Translation,” which includes sessions on legal systems and legalese, corpus approach, and group presentation. A sequential mixed-method survey was conducted using qualitative methods, such as focus groups and interviews, followed by quantitative research using a questionnaire. A preliminary pilot study involved a focus group, questionnaire, and interview. Two identical questionnaires were distributed to two groups of students: one control and one experimental. In the ten-student experiment group, an instructor taught legalese and distributed a follow-up questionnaire. In the twenty-two-student control group, the instructor (more knowledgeable other) did not teach legalese but used a corpus-based questionnaire to assess student entry into the zone of proximal development. In the questionnaire, entry-level Latin legalese examples were provided. During interviews, junior university students preferred a mixture of all three pedagogical methods, while senior university students preferred the corpus approach due to its enhanced efficiency and accuracy.

This study examined the context and career developmental significance of the re-entrance decision process, focusing on how individuals in their 20s decide to re-enter junior college. The participants were five 20s reverse transfer students in junior college, who had either graduated from or withdrawn from four-year universities. According to the analysis, the re-entrance decision was composed of ‘the process of making sure of career transition’ and ‘the process of constructing the meaning of re-entrance.’ The process of deciding to re-enter a junior college for 20s is a career development process that demonstrates the autonomous decision-making and meaning formation regarding the own career path. They constructed their own career meaning, overcame career barrier and specified their career goal through experiences relevant to work. The findings of this study expand the understanding about re-entrance decision-making process and career development of individuals in their 20s, and provide practical implications for career education at the higher education level.

Rising Tides of Knowledge: Exploring China’s Higher Education Landscape and Human Capital Growth

AbstractThis study examines the status of human capital in China’s higher education system by analyzing the quantity of higher education institutions as a metric. The results show a general enhancement in human capital in all regions, along with an optimized structure. This is demonstrated by a decline in the primary education demographic, a consistent growth in secondary education, and a rapid surge in the higher education demographic. The percentage of junior college students has remained steady, whereas the ratios of undergraduate and graduate students have been consistently increasing. The Malmquist index method is used to analyze changes in total factor productivity (TFP) among provinces and regions by breaking it down into technical level and efficiency changes. From 2005 to 2010, there was a general increase in total factor productivity (TFP) and technical proficiency, although technical efficiency showed only slight enhancement. TFP and technical level growth decelerated from 2011 to 2020, while technical efficiency stayed above 1. These findings indicate that China’s total factor productivity (TFP) growth is mainly driven by technological advancements, with minimal improvements in technical efficiency.

This study aimed to classify the career adaptability profiles of junior college students and examine the predictor variables that significantly affect the type classification of career adaptability. Data for this study were collected from 282 students enrolled in Junior College B in Chungcheongnam-do. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, latent profile analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and multinomial logistic regression. Follwing are the results of this study. First, the types of career adaptability of junior college students were divided into five groups: Adaptability moderate-low group, adaptability high group, adaptability moderate group, adaptability low group, and adaptability moderate-high group. Second, there were significant differences in the subvariables of planned happenstance skills, career decision self-efficacy, and occupational engagement among the junior college students’ career adaptability types. Third, planned happenstance skills, career decision self-efficacy, and occupational engagement influenced junior college students’ career adaptability classification. Additionally, several discussions and implications are presented.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to develop a group counseling program based on Adler's individual psychology and positive psychology to strengthen the academic achievement of junior college students who have received academic probation, and to verify its effectiveness.&#x0D; Methods For this purpose, 24 college students attending S College in City D were divided into an experimental group and a control group, and the experimental group was given a total of 8 programs of 120 minutes per session, twice a week. Pre-, post-, and follow-up tests were conducted for the experimental and control groups using the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Esteem Scale and Achievement Motivation Scale and the results were analyzed using two-way repeated analysis of variance. In addition, impressions for each session and satisfaction after the program were completed were analyzed.&#x0D; Results As a result of the analysis, it was found that the group counseling program significantly increased academic self-efficacy, self-esteem, and achievement motivation of junior college students. This proved to be an effective program to improve academic achievement of junior college students who received academic warnings later by proving that this program is effective in improving academic self-efficacy, self-esteem, and achievement motivation, which are psychological factors closely related to academic warnings.&#x0D; Conclusions This study is significant in that it developed a program for junior college students who received academic warnings and verified its effectiveness, as well as providing empirical evidence for two theories, personal psychology and positive psychology.&#x0D;

Impact of Youth Health Ambassador Programme on health awareness in youths in Singapore.

The Youth Health Ambassador Programme (YHAP) is a health educational program aimed at empowering youths to become health ambassadors in the community through raising their health awareness and training them in primary health prevention. This study evaluates the effectiveness of YHAP in improving the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of participants in physical and mental health. This study followed a single-group quasi-experimental design, with a pre- and postworkshop KAP survey. Participants were junior college (JC) and polytechnic students in Singapore enrolled in YHAP. In total, 131 responses were analyzed for changes in KAP for physical and mental health before and after the program. This article also studied the participants' barriers to educating others, including environment factors, intrinsic factors, and receptiveness of the target audience. Mean scores of all six KAP domains increased from the preworkshop survey to the postworkshop survey, with significant improvements (P < 0.05) in all domains except mental health knowledge. Individually, 16 out of 29 questions in the KAP sections had a significant increment in mean score after the program (P < 0.05). Mean scores for intrinsic barriers also decreased significantly (P < 0.001) postintervention, indicating that participants were less likely to agree that intrinsic factors were a barrier to educating people around them about health postintervention. YHAP is effective in improving the KAP of physical health and the attitudes and practices of mental health JC and polytechnic students and may reduce the effect of intrinsic barriers that participants face when teaching others.

Mental health of junior college students in China during COVID-19 school lockdown: Findings of on-line cross-sectional survey

During the COVID-19 pandemic, junior students who had recently entered university may have experienced particular difficulties. This study aimed to investigate the incidence of anxiety, depression, and sleep status among junior college students during school closure. Junior college students from 3colleges in Anhui Province participated in this study from 6th to 20th April, 2022. The students’ data were collected using a designed online questionnaire developed on the “Wen juan xing” website and submitted via cell phone. Ordinal logistic regression analysis indicated that female sex was an independent risk factor for increased anxiety, depression, and insomnia (anxiety: OR 1.503, 95% CI 1.191–1.897; depression: OR 1.14, 95% CI 1.023–1.270; ISI OR 2.052, 95% CI 1.646–2.559). Notably, medical specialty was an independent risk factor for depression and anxiety (anxiety: OR 1.367, 95% CI 1.078–1.734; depression: OR 1.289, 95% CI 1.148–1.448). Moreover, being a freshman was a risk factor for increased depression and insomnia (depression: OR 1.036,95% CI 0.931–1.153; insomnia: (OR 1.157,95% CI 0.961–1.394). The findings indicate that a considerable portion of junior college students experienced psychological problems due to lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objectives: 1) To assess the pre-test knowledge regarding junk food among junior college student. 2) To development administered structured teaching program regarding on junk food among junior college students. 3) To assess effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding junk food among junior college students. 4) To find out the association between post test knowledge score with selected demographic variables. Methodology: Research Design used in this study is Pre experimental, one group pre test post test design for present study sample size was 40 Junior collage student, Non probability sampling technique was used for data collection. Result: The study proved that mean post test knowledge score 23.025 was greater than the mean Pre test score 12.775 The mean difference between Pre test and post test score was 10.25 paired t knowledge score is paired 't-5.99' *p&lt;0.05 is significant at 0.05 level. Hence research hypothesis H0 and H0. was accepted. This indicates that the STP was effective in increasing the knowledge of junior college students regarding junk food.

Factors Associated with Functional Dyspepsia in Junior College Students of the Faculty of Nursing, University of Riau

Functional dyspepsia is a collection of symptoms in the form of an uncomfortable feeling in the upper abdomen, pain, bloating, early fullness, frequent belching, nausea and vomiting. This study used a correlation descriptive research design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 147 respondents who were taken based on inclusion criteria using a total sampling technique. The analysis used univariate analysis to see the distribution of frequencies and bivariate using the Chi-Square test. The data collection tool used was the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire, eating habits, irritative diets, and functional dyspepsia which had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of this study indicate that most students experience functional dyspepsia. The results of this study indicate the factors associated with functional dyspepsia in college students, namely eating regularity (0.021). Meanwhile, factors that were not related to functional dyspepsia included stress level (p = 0.162), history of NSAID consumption (p = 0.112), and irritative diet (p = 0.380) There is a relationship between eating regularity and functional dyspepsia. The results of this study are expected so that students can manage their diet and maintain stomach health properly, so that the incidence of functional dyspepsia in students can decrease.

Knowledge regarding periodontal disease and related systemic diseases among university students: A cross-sectional study

Objectives: Periodontal disease attained global concern especially after several studies linked periodontal disease with systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and cancer. Moreover, the prevalence of these systemic diseases among Lebanese population is considerably high. However, the knowledge regarding the periodontal health and related systemic diseases is unknown. The purpose of this questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was to examine Lebanese University students’ knowledge concerning periodontal health and related systemic diseases. Materials and Methods: In total, 461 students out of 520 took part between November 22, 2022, and December 1, 2022, with a 88.6% response rate and were asked to complete an online survey that included questions concerning healthy periodontium and its relation with systemic diseases. Results: The data revealed a poor knowledge regarding the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases such as diabetes (27.5%), cardiovascular complications (28.9%), adverse pregnancy outcomes (27.5%), cancer (39.5%), respiratory problems (30.2%), and arthritis (22.1%). However, participants were aware of the healthy color and consistency of the periodontium (83.5%), (66.2%), and the need for dental check-ups (68.1%); moreover, public university and senior health-related students appeared with higher knowledge, compared with private and junior university students (P = 0.035, P = 0.048, and P &lt; 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Knowledge regarding oral health in general and periodontal health specifically must be improved among university students. Therefore, awareness campaigns must be held to increase knowledge among them and consequently among their families regarding periodontal health.

A Study of Level of Emotional Intelligence among Adolescent Students Based on Gender

Learning is a continuous process that depends as much on the student's careful recognition of their own knowledge as it does on the teacher or pedagogy. For a while, the intellect quotient has been used as the only indicator of a student's success but as the world approached the twenty-first century, research revealed that Emotional Quotient is a stronger predictor of success than other traditional measures of cognitive intellect. The performance of students will continue to be greatly influenced by their emotional intelligence, especially in the wake post the pandemic. The aim of the current research is to study the gender difference of emotional intelligence levels of junior college students and secondary school students. Irrespective of the level where the students are studying, the findings revealed that female students scored higher than their male counterparts on emotional intelligence quotient.
