Browsing for food: Will COVID‐induced online grocery delivery persist?

The COVID‐19 pandemic altered daily activities. Many consumers reverted to online grocery shopping and home delivery. We analyze factors associated with the decision to grocery shop online and whether this will persist post‐COVID using data collected via a representative online Qualtrics panel in the State of New Jersey (N = 1,419). Around half of respondents either decreased in‐person shopping, increased online shopping, or pursued a combination of both. We used factor analysis to decompose attitudes towards the pandemic, finding that attitudinal responses broke down into ‘fearful’, ‘believers’, and ‘deniers’. Binomial regressions were used to analyze patterns of frequency of grocery shopping during the pandemic and changes in behavior during the pandemic. Results suggest that age, gender, ethnicity, educational attainment, having children at home, and attitudes towards COVID‐19 are likely to influence frequency of online and in‐person grocery shopping. Specifically, being 50 years or older is negatively associated with online grocery shopping. Those who deny COVID‐19 were less likely to decrease in‐person grocery shopping. People who had children at home, who had advanced degrees, or who were of Hispanic origin were more likely to increase online shopping and decrease in‐person shopping during the pandemic. While our results suggest that in‐person grocery shopping will return to prepandemic levels, we found that respondents report some increased persistence in online grocery shopping post‐COVID.

Lost sales obsolescence inventory systems with positive lead time: a system-point level-crossing approach

AbstractIn this article, we provide a comprehensive analyses of two continuous review lost sales inventory system based on different replenishment policies, namely $(s,S)$ and $(s,Q)$. We assume that the arrival times of demands form a Poisson process and that the demand sizes have i.i.d. exponential distribution. We assume that the items in stock may obsolete after an exponential time. The lead time for replenishment is exponential. We also assume that the excess demands and the demands that occurred during stock out periods are lost. Using the system point method of level crossing and integral equation method, we derive the steady-state probability distribution of inventory level explicitly. After deriving some system performance measures, we computed the total expected cost rate. We also provide numerical examples of sensitivity analyses involving different parameters and costs. As a result of our numerical analysis, we provide several insights on the optimal $(s,S)$ and $(s,Q)$ policies for inventory systems of obsolescence items with positive lead times. The better policy for maintaining inventory can be quantified numerically.

ABSTRACT
 The development of technology today has become something that is universal and can be used in various human lives. One of them is in business. In today's era, it is undeniable that a computer is a component that must be owned by a company in running its business, in order to assist in processing data and help improve the quality of work and quality in service. In this case, Toko Maju Jaya is used as a place of research, because in this place the system that is carried out is still manual and has not been managed properly, so errors often occur in making reports and in processing stock items. The purpose of this study is to provide convenience during the processing of sales, purchase transactions, goods data, supplier data and customer data, minimizing errors in recording.
 The research method used in this research is using the R&D (Research and Development) method. This method is used to produce a certain product that is analytical and can be tested for effectiveness so that it can be used in the wider community. In designing the system the tools used are Flowcharts, Entity Relationship Diagrams and Context Diagrams, while for data collection using observations, interviews, and literature studies. The database application development tool uses MySQL and the programming language uses Visual Basic 6.0. With this information system transaction data processing can be done computerized so as to reduce errors in reporting.

STRATEGY ANALYSIS OF THE TRADITIONAL MARKET TRADERS AT THE TIME OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

This research uses qualitative research methods. The type of research is field research with a descriptive approach, the Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are analyzed before the field and data analysis in the area with the stages of reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results have shown that there are three types of survival strategies that can carry out, namely: 1) active strategies, improving the quality of goods and services, the presence of family members who help work, and increasing hours of work, 2) passive strategies, namely by reducing stock items, by reducing the number of employees, 3) network strategy, by building good relationships with buyers, leaving goods in the nearest stands, and doing online business online

Application of Models in Inventory Management in Oil and Gas Companies: A Case Study of Corporation in Port Harcourt

This study applied models in inventory management in oil and gas companies using the warehouse in an Oil and Gas Company as a case study for data collection. The study identified the materials / parts managed as inventory, determined and applied inventory models used in the management of stocked items / raw materials and minimized inventory investment to maximize profits. The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarities to ideal Solution (TOPSIS), Pareto analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) models in inventory management were applied. The AHP model top priority with Pressure gauge items, followed by Control Systems and the least was completion. Result obtained using TOPSIS and Pareto analysis appeared to be similar, which placed the control systems as the most valuable with the highest usage rate, followed by pressure gauge. Hence, the top two priority items for inventory management of oil and gas companies is pressure gauge items and control systems. Based on the findings, the TOPSIS model appeared as the optimum and the most technically viable model for inventory management in the oil and gas industry.

Drug Shortages and Its Effects on Service Delivery among Key Informants (KIs) in Fiji

BACKGROUND: Drug shortage is a global problem that adds extra burden to health systems with additional costs and posing risks to patients who fail to receive the medicines they need. Aim This study aimed to describe drug shortage and its effects on service delivery among Key Informants (KIs) in Fiji. 
 
 MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this quantitative cross-sectional study, the information on drug shortage per month was collected through the stock status report and pharmacy records of the main referral hospital in Fiji, the Colonial War Memorial hospital (CWMH) from 1st June to 30th November 2015. Purposive sampling was applied to reach 50 KIs who met the study crietria. A pilot tested structured questionniare was used to collect data and descriptive statistic was used to analyze data. 
 
 RESULTS: The results showed the most frequent out of stock items were antibiotics (49) followed by vitamins (18) and antihypertensive (17). The frequency of total drugs on shortage ranged from 29 to 50 items per month with an average rate 10% (n=40) drug shortages per month. Additinally, 98% (n=49) of the KIs indicated that drug shortage increased workload of staff and 90% (n=45) indicated that the standard treatment was deviated or alternatives were sought due to shortage of drugs.
 
 CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study revealed that drug shortage was experienced in CWMH during the study period and had an impact on the clinical service delivery. There is a needed to focus on the use, selection, procurement and storage and distribution of medicines at CWMH.

Identification and evaluation of medication-related issues relating to patient’s own drugs by pharmacy students while on placement in a tertiary hospital

Background Pharmacy students require knowledge of prescribing and supply of medicines; this is achievable through work-based learning. In UK hospitals, pharmacy technicians assess patient's own drugs (PODs) so medicines can be used as they would be at home. Student-led POD checks have not yet been considered as an opportunity for legitimate peripheral participation (LPP). Aim To evaluate an undergraduate pharmacy placement model using POD checking as a way of gaining LPP within a UK tertiary hospital. Method Students (n = 100) attended nine placements over academic year 2020-2021; they were supervised by a pharmacy technician to complete POD checks. Data were collected concerning student activities and resulting medication-related issues (MRIs); data were descriptively analysed. Results 1094 patients were seen by pharmacy students and 296 MRIs identified. Omitted (non-prescribed) medicines were the most common MRI (32.1%), followed by incorrect stock items (16.2%). Most MRIs were medium risk (65.5%). The most common actions/outcomes were handover to another ward member (41.6%) or medication removal (25.3%). Conclusion Clinically relevant MRIs relating to PODs can be identified by pharmacy students while experiencing LPP. These activities illustrate scalable work-based learning where pharmacy students can contribute to patient care in relation to the use and supply of medicines.

The impact of Corona Virus Disease-19 or COVID-19 pandemic was seen almost all aspects, especially in health facilities. Puskesmas as known as Public Health Center is a primary health service facility that usually became the first choice for seeking treatment so that Puskesmas can be said to be the backbone in facing and fighting the COVID-19 outbreak. This study aimed to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on drug management and the level of drug availability at Puuwatu Public Health Center, Kendari City. This study was descriptive-evaluative research with quantitative and qualitative methods and retrospective data collection in 2019 (before the pandemic) and 2020 (during the pandemic). Based on the results of the study, the percentage of the suitability of items with National Formulary increased by 1.3% during the pandemic, the percentage of the empty stock increased by 9.8%, the percentage value of damaged and expired items increased by 1.73%, the percentage of less stock decreased by 6, 43%, the percentage of safe stock and excess stock items decreased by 2.36% and 1.06%, respectively. The percentage value of suitability of the physical number of items did not change both in 2019 and in 2020 at the Puuwatu Health Center, Kendari City

The companies increasingly need to adopt strategies that improve their decision-making, and Operational Research is one of them. Operational Research aims to represent, through mathematical models, real-life problems offering viable solutions and for this it has numerous techniques that provide organizations to achieve economies of significant scales. This article aims to present a practical application of one of these techniques, the linear programming, applied in the making of Christmas food parcel. The article aims to maximize the sales revenue of the food parcel by controlling the items that compose them and performing the possible resupplies if there were missing items in stock. This study is justified by the fact that companies working in this segment do not have an academic reference in this subject. From its construction, it was noticed that the model presented concrete results, its use and interpretation of easy understanding to the employee of the supply sector, and mainly by its daily monitoring and financial result.

Analisis Mutu Pengelolaan Obat di Puskesmas Kota Tegal

Primary health centers is a facility that organizes health efforts at the first level to achieve health degrees, but in its implementation is still constrained in realizing standard pharmaceutical services. The purpose of the research is to find out the quality of drug management in Tegal City primary Health Center. This study is a non-experimental descriptive study. The study was conducted throughout the primary health center in Tegal City. Data collection is prospective and retrospective by tracing documents to obtain secondary data and direct observations, interviews of pharmaceutical personnel, heads of primary health centers, and heads of the pharmaceutical section to obtain primary data. The next drug management indicator is done descriptive data analysis by calculating the value of the indicator with the formula then compared to the standard and inter primary health care. Indicators of drug management used 28 and those that meet standard 10. Indicator results include conformity of items with disease patterns 76.39%, planning accuracy 321.10%, the accuracy of the number of requests 169.84%, the storage of narcotics 72.92%, the storage of drugs without contamination 98.97%, the storage of high alert drugs 68.15%, the storage of LASA drugs 87.5%, ITOR 1.87 times /year, the availability of drugs 36.08 months, drug items less than 14.01%, safe drug items 37.94%, excess stock items 41.76%, non-prescribed drugs 4.59% and drug value ED 3.85%. These results show that drug management indicators in Tegal City primary health centers have not been efficient and need improvements ranging from the planning stage to control. Indicators that still need improvement include ITOR and all indicators of drug availability. Things that need to be done to improve indicators that have not been efficient include increasing the number and quality of pharmaceutical human resources in primary health centers, increasing supervision of drug use and control, building communication, and a good organizing culture in primary health centers.

Accounting information systems for every company of course have a purpose. Basically the accounting information system is to facilitate the process of existing activities within the company through the provision of appropriate and timely information, as well as creating internal controls to secure the company's assets.
 The purpose of this study was to determine the application of accounting information systems for merchandise inventory at PT. Padma Sari Pangan by carrying out the activities of receiving goods, purchasing goods, and selling goods that are resold without changing the shape of the goods with inventory activities at retail as an intermediary for distribution channels. Internal control is also needed in the application of accounting information systems at PT. Padma Sari Pangan so that there is no loss or theft of stock items.
 The results showed that PT. Padma Sari Pangan has an adequate inventory accounting information system so that it plays a role in receiving, buying, and selling goods for distribution activities and internal control of merchandise inventory. Therefore it can be concluded that the application of accounting information systems at PT. Padma Sari Pangan has been accurate in carrying out merchandise distribution activities.

The system for recording stock inventory at CV Kencana Motor, which is done manually, causes errors in recording stock inventory. These errors make the stock item report inaccurate with the original. This study aims to design an income information system and recording stock goods at CV Kencana Motor. The design of this system is made using Data Flow Diagram (DFD) and Contek Digram and Flowchart. The results of this study indicate, this information system built can overcome errors in the calculation of sales transactions, purchases and can overcome the inventory data collection at CV Kencana Motor. Information system at CV Kencana Motor can help in making reports and searching for data more quickly and accurately when needed.

The design of this system starts from the warehouse first to record incoming goods then make a purchase invoice and here the warehouse confirms to the shop owner, if approved, the owner will ask the admin to make stock adjustments, after the stock is reduced, the admin will confirm to the Warehouse and the Warehouse will make a travel document to be continued to the consumer.

Solving a warehouse inventory control problem by Benders decomposition and the Lagrangian relaxation

In modern businesses, organizations hold large numbers of inventory items, but cannot find their inventory system economical to make policies for the management of individual inventory items. In this paper, a mathematical model is presented to classify inventory items, taking into account significant profit and cost reduction indices. The model has an objective function to maximize the net profit of items in stock. Limitations such as budget even inventory shortages are taken into account too. The mathematical model is solved by the Benders decomposition and the Lagrange relaxation algorithms. Then, the results of the two solutions are compared. The TOPSIS technique and statistical tests are used to evaluate and compare the proposed solutions with one another and to choose the best one. The results show that the Lagrange algorithm is more efficient for solving the model in terms of both computational time and quality. Subsequently, several sensitivity analyses are performed on the model, which helps inventory control managers determine the effect of inventory management costs on optimal decision making and item grouping. Finally, according to the results of evaluating the efficiency of the proposed model and the solution method, a real-world case study is conducted on the ceramic tile industry. Based on the proposed approach, several managerial perspectives are gained on optimal inventory grouping and item control strategies

There fore it is necessary to make a system and the right method to manage the problem of inventory of goods in Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Product Inc. The method used to solve this problem is the FIFO (First in First Out) which is a method of determining inventory based on the assumption that the goods that are first obtained / bought (entered) are the first to be sold or issued. Thus the goods in inventory are considered to be from the last purchases, because the goods from the previous purchase are considered to have been sold or released so that later the method will be combined in a system designed in the form of DFD to monitor inventory of goods as mentioned in the problem above and the method used to develop the system is the waterfall model and the programming language used to create the website, PHP and for example as the database.
