Looking at the Policies of National Identity Construction in the Democratic Party Era

Identity is a concept that describes the characteristics of an individual. Nations, as well as individuals, have identities. When the ruling parties accede, they try to build a national identity in line with their own views and identities of nations are tried to be shaped by governments. When the Democratic Party came to power, it tried to build an identity within its own views and organized its educational and social activities within this framework. The aim of this study is to reveal what kind of identity was tried to be built by examining the educational and social activities during the Democratic Party era. In the study, the important educational and social activities of the period were examined, and the necessary literature was scanned. In this context, it is evaluated that they tried to build an identity that was respectful to religious values, conservative and familiar with Western culture.

The paper presents a methodology for entering an open source project using architectural analysis to develop programming skills and volunteer activities using architectural analysis. The relevance is due to the difficulty of entering into joint projects. As a method for solving this problem, it is proposed to use architectural analysis according to the C4 model. Using the example of the Sahana EDEN software project from the source code repository, the application of this method is described. Interest in this project is due to both its humanitarian goal and the large number of active participants, which makes it a significant example of intellectual volunteering. For each step of the architectural analysis, a detailed description of the results is presented - context, container and component diagrams. An analysis of the repository of an open source project should begin with an overview of the project structure and a study of the description, open questions, rules for making changes, current problems and technical debt. The importance of assessing one's own capabilities through studying the project's coding standards, problems and technical debt is substantiated. The conducted research showed that project work with open source software allows one to improve programming skills in practice, gain experience in joint activities and production communications, which allows us to recommend the comprehensive use of open source projects as an important educational activity for students.

Studying the goal-setting activity in primary students in the context of functional literacy

Introduction. Goal setting is one of the most important universal educational activities of primary students, which involves setting of an educational task related to the student’s mastering of the mode of action. In the context of development of functional literacy, it is necessary to determine which goals are set by children when performing competence-oriented tasks that involve the application of knowledge in real life situations. The research is aimed at studying the goal-setting activity in primary students when solving competenceoriented tasks. Materials and methods. In order to identify the level of development of the goal-setting activity in students, a diagnostic technique that involved solving a competence-oriented mathematical problem and determining the goals for completing this task, was designed. The research involved 478 fourth-grade students (children aged 9.5-10.5 years). Results. An analysis of the diagnostic results has shown that only about 23% of the fourth-grade students (3.1% with a high level and 20.5% with an average level of goal-setting activity) were able to formulate specific learning tasks related to the content of the assignment. Only about 40% of primary students correctly solved a mathematical problem, were able to orient themselves in the proposed life situation and correlate it with mathematical concepts and modes of action. The analysis of the research data has demonstrated that only 38% of primary students who successfully coped with the solution of a competence-oriented mathematical task had a high or medium level of goalsetting activity, which indicated both problems with the verbalization of intuitively perceived learning tasks and problems in organizing the goal-setting activities of students (χ2 = 13.277; p<0.001). Discussion and conclusion. The development of goal-setting activity should become part of the overall work on the mastering by students of all components of educational activity. It is important to perform a gradual transition from goal setting by the teacher to the goal setting by students and independent determination of learning objectives by the student. When organizing such work, it is necessary to set goals at different levels: goals for studying a topic or section of the program; general goals of the lesson; goals associated with the assimilation of new material; goals for performing specific tasks. Particular attention should be paid to the work on setting goals in the process of achieving meta-subject results of primary education related to the functional literacy of students.

Companion Animal Cadaver Donation for Teaching Purposes at Veterinary Medicine Colleges: A Discrete Choice Experiment.

Veterinary training programs rely on animal cadavers for a variety of important educational activities, yet ethical sourcing can present considerable challenges. Public sentiment has rendered traditional sources (e.g., euthanized shelter animals or purpose-bred animals) increasingly tenuous throughout the United States, leaving many schools to search for alternatives. One such alternative is to establish a cadaver donation program, with a handful of institutions implementing such programs in recent years. Still, there have been few to no studies evaluating the factors that influence pet owners' decisions about whether to participate that could inform the establishment of such programs to date. In the present study, a nationally (United States) representative sample of current and potential dog and cat owners was asked to complete a survey capturing various demographic factors as well as their existing attitudes toward both veterinary medicine and veterinary education in addition to selecting among hypothetical cadaver donation programs with varying attribute levels in a blocked, orthogonal, fractional factorial discrete choice experiment to determine the characteristics that correlate with higher participation rates. Although initial interest was strong, our results suggest that younger pet owners, individuals with more formal education, and individuals with positive relationships with their current veterinarian are most likely to participate in a donation program. Concerningly, however, dog owners were somewhat less likely than other respondents to participate. The return of pet ashes was the most important attribute to respondents, suggesting that cadaver donation administrators should consider inclusion of this service to maximize participation.

Challenges of teaching English as an additional language in high schools in Cambodia

As English is a lingua franca in Southeast Asia, the teaching of this international language has been identified as an important educational activity in Cambodia. This study examined the challenges of teaching English as an additional language in four public high schools in Cambodia. It investigated the significance of various aspects of the school environment and the attributes of teachers toward English language teaching. A mixed methods design was employed, and data were collected through a survey and semi-structured interviews. The findings showed that a dated curriculum, classroom overcrowding, immovable furniture, limited resources, and a lack of professional development contributed to the challenges in teaching English in Cambodian schools. The study concludes with recommendations for the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant stakeholders to provide schools with sufficient funds, facilities, and teaching resources; offer professional development opportunities to teachers and staff; and update English course books.

Development of Educational Activities and Counseling in Social Agriculture in Slovakia: Initial Experience and Future Prospects

Abstract Slovakia has significantly changed the structure of its economy by switching to a market management system. There has been a shift away from agriculture, traditional farming methods and careful land management. The result is unused lands and labor force, a broken relationship of society towards the environment, the agricultural land and due to the low social status of agriculture, towards the education in this area too. There is no information on the potential of social agriculture. Educational initiatives in this area are unique and fragmented. The importance of educational activities and counseling lies mainly in education in an effort to help implementers or those interested in the implementation of social farming projects to obtain basic information about the concept of social agriculture, avoid mistakes and get the most comprehensive picture of current conditions in this area. The article outlines a view of the development of social agriculture in the area of the social economy in the conditions of the Slovak Republic, which corresponds to the changing needs of society. It draws attention to the initial steps in the development of educational activities and counseling in social agriculture. We reflect on the potential and pitfalls of education as part of a broader understanding of social agriculture. The elimination of the shortcomings would have significant effects on rural development and less developed regions. The benefits would be reflected in inclusive development and in more sustainable agriculture by influencing other sectors. Our article is based on desk review and qualitative research. We conducted 6 in-depth expert interviews. We focused on experts who were able to provide us with a specialized insight into our research.

Education on neuromuscular electrodiagnosis and neurological symptomatology

AbstractNeurological symptomatology is a crucial component of neurological expertise. The committee for fostering board‐certified neurologists in the Japanese Society of Neurology (JSN) has hosted an educational activity for residents before the board examination, “The seminar for fostering board‐certified neurologists” since 2004. In particular, the autumn seminar has been characterized by small group hands‐on of neurological examinations and the evaluations of higher brain function. Besides this, hands‐on seminar of neurological examinations by regional branches has been promoted by the JSN. In the Kanto Ko‐shin‐etsu branch, “The first hands‐on seminar of neurological examinations” started in 2023 after a 3‐year‐suspension due to COVID‐19. The most important educational activities in neuromuscular electrodiagnosis (EDx) is the “Neuromuscular diagnostics seminar” hosted since 2004 by the Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (JSCN). The majority of tutors and participants are neurologists. This seminar is also characterized by small‐group, hands‐on workshops. We have also run the overseas seminar, “Tokyo Super EMG hands‐on,” since 2013. These have undoubtedly contributed to enhancing the level of neuromuscular electrodiagnosis not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries. I have conducted studies on neurological symptomatology and neuromuscular electrodiagnosis, which are directly linked to enhancing clinical practice of neurologists through educational activities such as review articles or lectures. Due to the fact that symptomatology is crucial in neurological expertise, neurology is a basic specialty around the world except in Japan. In 2018, the JSN decided to aim to make neurology a basic specialty and continues to make efforts to attain this goal.

Cervical Cancer Prevention: The Role of the Nurse and Medical Care in Primary and Secondary Cancer Prevention

Objective: Although these days the priority is to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is not to be neglected. Mechanism: Cervical cancer is caused mainly by a chronic infection with one or more of the high-risk subtypes of HPV —most commonly a sexually transmitted disease acquired early in life. Most HPV infections go away on their own, but some can lead to a precancerous state that, if left untreated, can undergo complete neoplastic transformation. Findings in Brief: There is a hope that in the future the combination of screening tests with vaccinations against oncogenic strains of HPV will allow reductions in the percentage of those contracting cervical cancer. Conclusions: The importance of educational activities should be emphasized in developmental gynecology in the context of oncological prevention. The roles of both doctors and nurses are important here. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, these kinds of activities are not to be abandoned. In addition, efforts should be made to develop more practical and workable HPV and cervical screening strategies for use during a pandemic.

Music Activity Guidance Strategies for Education Majors

Music is an important educational activity in kindergartens that contributes positively to the development of children's appreciation and expressive abilities. With the growing awareness of music activities, more and more people are concerned about how to improve children's ability to perceive, understand, and express music creatively through activities that promote their overall physical and mental development. In this study, the researcher observed and analyzed the teaching behaviors of kindergarten teachers in Hefei area during music teaching activities. Music teaching activities were observed in 20 kindergartens for 20 weeks and the researcher collected a large number of activity cases and teaching videos to investigate the current problems in kindergarten music teaching activities and proposed specific strategies for music teaching activities.

Examples of the integration of educational and upbringing tasks in the classroom and in extracurricular activities of schoolchildren are given.

SAGES perspective: professional medical associations, commercial interests, and conflicts of interest

Professional medical associations (PMAs) have an essential role in advancing medical care and health. PMAs promote skills training, clinical standards, and other important educational activities. Most often, PMAs are not-for-profit entities that rely upon funding from industry to help cover the costs of these valuable activities. Equally important, innovation and progress in surgery require physician collaboration with industry throughout the product development process. SAGES has opined that, with appropriate Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure and management processes, PMA educational activities can be both scientifically and ethically sound. SAGES has developed and implemented comprehensive and stringent processes for managing potential COI within the organization, at the annual meeting, and in developing educational offerings. This document reviews the SAGES COI processes and results 2009-2021. Implementation of the SAGES COI disclosure and management processes reduced the reported perceived incidence of bias at the annual meeting from 4.4-6.2% (2008-2010) to 1.2-2.2% (2011-2013). Recent comparison of reported disclosures revealed a rise in number of speakers with financial relationships and an increase in reporting of disclosures in presentations without an associated increase in need for conflict resolution by the COI committee. Despite good overall adherence to COI policies, SAGES was recently cited for non-compliance with ACCME standards related to inclusion of faculty with ownership interest. This experience highlighted the potential for discordance in the interpretation of whether disclosures relate to specific CME content. SAGES COI processes have since been updated to reflect the more stringent 2020 ACCME Standards that exclude speakers and planners with ownership interest from any CME activity. The SAGES experience with disclosure and mitigation of financial relationships highlights the challenges of validating the accuracy of physician disclosures and establishing the relevance of financial relationships to the content of accredited educational activities. SAGES will continue to streamline its COI disclosure process with specific focus on aligning all financial disclosures among the various reporting platforms.

AP-S Young Professionals Activities at the 2022 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation [Young Professionals

This year, the annual IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and U.S. National Committee for the International Union of Radio Science Radio Science Meeting was held in Denver, CO, USA, on 10–15 July. This conference was special because it was the first in-person conference after the two virtual conferences, in 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many students, Young Professionals (YPs), engineers, researchers, and professors met in person. The IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) YPs Committee (YPC) <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="ref1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[1]</xref> conducted important educational and networking activities at the conference. AP-S YPs ambassadors <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="ref2" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[2]</xref> led the way in the development of several new YPs activities, establishing them as an inspirational influence for the Society. Highlights of the YPs activities ( <xref ref-type="fig" rid="fig1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Figure 1</xref> ) are summarized in the following.

The Case for Feedback-in-Practice as a Topic of Educational Scholarship.

The importance of clinical performance feedback is well established and the factors relevant to its effectiveness widely recognized, yet feedback continues to play out in problematic ways. For example, learning culture modifications shown to facilitate feedback have not seen widespread adoption, and the learner-educator interactions prescribed by research rarely occur organically. Nevertheless, medical learners achieve clinical competence, suggesting a need to expand educational scholarship on this topic to better account for learner growth. This Scholarly Perspective argues for a more extensive exploration of feedback as an educational activity embedded in clinical practice , where joint clinical work that involves an educator and learner provides a locus for feedback in the midst of performance. In these clinically embedded feedback episodes, learning and performance goals are constrained by the task at hand, and the educator guides the learner in collaboratively identifying problematic elements, naming and reframing the source of challenge, and extrapolating implications for further action. In jointly conducting clinical tasks, educators and learners may frequently engage in feedback interactions that are both aligned with workplace realities and consistent with current theoretical understanding of what feedback is. However, feedback embedded in practice may be challenged by personal, social, and organizational factors that affect learners' participation in workplace activity. This Scholarly Perspective aims to provide a conceptual framework that helps educators and learners be more intentional about and fully participatory in this important educational activity. By topicalizing this feedback-in-practice and exploring its integration with the more commonly foregrounded feedback-on-practice , future educational scholarship may achieve optimal benefit to learners, educators, and clinical practice.

Obstacles to practicing school scouting activities from the point of view of the scout team leaders in Thi Qar governorate

The school is a social institution established by the community to educate and educate its children and to help them grow and develop mentally, kinesthetically, socially and emotionally with the life they live in the past, present and future. Within the framework of this philosophy, to develop the students’ personality, direct their inclinations, reveal their abilities and aptitudes in the school fields, and the school scouting activity is one of the important educational activities that aim to educate the individual in a balanced manner, provide many opportunities for moral and social formation, develop national responsibility, and implant in the hearts of its members loyalty and belonging to the homeland. Scouting is A global movement through which workers work to help the youth to develop their personality by providing them with mental, social, physical and health experiences. Hence the importance of this study to reveal those scouting obstacles from the point of view of the scout team leaders in Thi Qar Governorate, and to stand on the aspects of strength and development and aspects of weakness and to make recommendations

Fifteen years of quantum optics, quantum information, and nano-optics educational facility at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester

The quantum optics/quantum information and nano-optics educational laboratory facility (QNOL) at the University of Rochester (UR) is located within three rooms of the Institute of Optics with a total area of 587 ft2. It has been used for teaching a 4-credit-hour QNOL class annually for 15 years. Four teaching labs were prepared on the generation and characterization of entangled and single (antibunched) photons demonstrating the laws of quantum mechanics: (1) entanglement and Bell’s inequalities, (2) single-photon interference (Young’s double slit experiment and Mach–Zehnder interferometer), (3) single-photon source I: confocal fluorescence microscopy of single nanoemitters, and (4) single-photon source II: a Hanbury Brown and Twiss setup, fluorescence antibunching. Further, based on QNOL, 1.5 to 3 h sturdy quantum “mini-labs” were developed and introduced into the required classes such that all optics students at the UR had experience with quantum labs. Monroe Community College (MCC) students participated in two mini-labs at the UR. Since 2006 to spring 2022, a total of ~850 students have utilized the labs for lab report submission (including 144 MCC students) and more than 250 students have used them for lab demonstrations. In addition, UR freshman research projects have become a very important educational activity in this facility. All developed materials and students’ reports are available at http://www.optics.rochester.edu/workgroups/lukishova/QuantumOpticsLab/. We present a description of sturdy, universally accessible experiments that can be introduced into either a separate advanced class or into classes with a large number of students. Assessment methods, evaluation of students’ knowledge, and their attitude toward their career in quantum information are discussed.

THE PECULIARITIES OF THE INTERACTION OF PUBLIC AUTHORITIES WITH THE ELEMENTS OF CIVIL SOCIETY AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL

The importance of the development of civil society institutions in modern conditions is noted. Emphasis is placed on the formal participation of citizens in public policy through the collection of their proposals. The importance of implementing the practice of holding local referendums was emphasized. Significant development of the non-governmental sector, volunteer movement, and registered public organizations at the regional level is highlighted. Significant problems in regions with a high level of sociological and political science education and science are pointed out. Program priorities and the potential effectiveness of program activities to promote the development of regional civil society are outlined. Emphasis is placed on the importance of educational activities for pupils, students, and other categories to ensure public awareness of the activities of civil society institutions. The conceptual model of increased efficiency of state-public collaboration in Ukraine is analyzed. It is noted that the most common practices of cooperation are personal meetings, participation in working groups and round tables, participation in events, organization of joint events, and participation in public consultations during the development of city development strategies and joint projects. The existing mechanisms of informing about the possibility of interaction of civil society institutions are noted. The main obstacles to establishing cooperation are presented. The reverse of the traditional construction concerning the influence of the public on the activities of the state is proposed. The descriptive method in its analytical and systematic focus, as well as contextual, component analysis, are used in the study.

Information about the release of two new books by well-known scientists and leading Russian linguists-experts we offered. This is the first textbook in Russia “Forensic linguistic expertise” by E.I. Galyashina (Moscow, Publishing House “Prospect”, 2021, 424 p.), which reflects the theory and practice of forensic linguistic expertise. The presentation of all sections of the book meets the requirements of the federal state educational standard of higher professional education in the specialty “Forensic examination”. The textbook is addressed to students, post-graduate students and teachers of Russian universities of both legal and philological specialties, to everyone involved in forensic expert activity (judges, prosecutors, lawyers), at the same time the book will be of interest to a wide range of news media workers: journalists, editors, publishers. The second book is the scientific and informational publication “GLEDID in the digital space” (Moscow, CPI “MASK”, 2021, 176 p.) by M.V. Gorbanevsky (founder and permanent head of GLEDID) and G.N. Trofimova (long-term Deputy Chairman of the Board of GLEDID) talks about the important research, expert, publishing, educational and informational activities of the Guild of Linguistic Experts in Documentation and Information Disputes in the era of intensive development of Inter-net technologies. Investigation on graduate students\u2019 social presence and social knowledge construction in two online discussion settings

Online discussions have become important educational activities through which collaborative learning and knowledge construction can be facilitated. This study explores the use of two online discussion tools, online discussion board and VoiceThread, for supporting online course discussion activities among a group of graduate students and investigates the differences in the levels of social presence and social knowledge construction in the two discussion settings. Meanwhile, the participants’ posting behaviors and interaction patterns were also examined. Results reveal that the participants contributed more words when using the audio and video features of VoiceThread. Additionally, the graduate students tended to create more contents and demonstrated more social presence behaviors when interacting with others in the VoiceThread discussion platform. However, the participants exhibited fewer social knowledge construction behaviors than they did in the text-based online discussion board.
