PENGARUH MEDIA TANAM TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN STEK STEVIA (Stevia rebaudiana B.)

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana R.) is a shrub that is widely used as a natural sweetener. Stevia is a natural sweetener that contains stevioside and rebaudioside A that is 300 times higher, not carcinogenic, and low in calories as a sweet taste than cane sugar. This value is a chance to make stevia sugar a s a cane sugar companion. The aim of this study is to measure the effect of growing media on stevia cuttings' growth. This test was undertaken by randomized complete block design (RBD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications in the P o l i t e k n i k WBI Practice Laboratory. In order to assess the effect of each treatment . The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance at P<5%. The results of the research indicated that the mixed media of humus soil and litter compost (P4) provided the highest values for the observed parameters; the height of the stevia cuttings was 49.50 cm, had 222.76 leaves, the fresh leaf weight was 24.98 g, the total of fresh weight and dry weight was 49. 72 g and 21.70 g, respectively. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the suitable planting medium for stevia propagation using shoot cuttings is a mixture of humus soil and litter compost with a ratio of 1: 1.

Dependence of the Concentration of Bioactive Compounds in Origanum vulgare on Chemical Properties of the Soil

The aim of this study was to determine the dependence of the total phenolic, flavonoid, and extractive content in extracts of Origanum vulgare L. on the soil pH, humus, total nitrogen (Ntotal), and plant-available/mobile phosphorus (P2O5), as well as potassium (K2O), total calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sodium (Na) concentrations. Experimental fields were formed in four locations in Lithuania. Soil and perennial O. vulgare samples were taken at three sites of each experimental field. A total of 12 samples of soil and 12 samples of the tested plant were collected and analyzed. The concentrations of bioactive compounds in plants are significantly (p < 0.05–0.01) affected by some chemical properties of the soil: the total phenolic content was reliably correlated with the soil pH, Ntotal, Ca, Mg, and P2O5; the flavonoid content was correlated with the soil P2O5, K2O, Mg, and Na; and the extractive content was correlated with the soil humus, Ntotal, and Na. The obtained results are useful for the development of the commercial cultivation of O. vulgare.

Accumulation of straw-derived carbon and changes in soil humic acid structural characteristics during corn straw decomposition

Appropriate application of corn straw residues increase soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration. However, sequestration and stabilization of added carbon (C) during corn straw transformation are not fully understood. Here, we present changes in soil humus C and humic acid (HA) molecular structure during corn straw decomposition in an incubation experiment carried out for 270 d at 25 °C. Corn straw was applied at the amount of 74.76 g per 18 kg soil (i.e., 1.57 g C·kg−1), in the soil surface (CS1), incorporated within 0–10 cm (CS2), applied below 10 cm soil depth (CS3), and no corn straw applied. The results showed that after corn straw application (CS1, CS2, and CS3), the accumulation of SOC content was rapid in the first 90 d. The HA spectral results of straw-amended soils showed a slight increase in aliphatic C compounds and amino acids on day 90. On day 180, the degree of condensation was less, and aliphatic C compounds were present in large quantities in soil HA. As decomposition advanced to day 270, the aliphatic character of HA appeared to slightly weaken, and soil HA was enriched with aromatic structures. These results suggest that corn straw application enriches soil HA with more aliphatic C compounds in the early stages of decomposition, and aromatic C structures are formed in the later stage of decomposition. Incorporation of corn straw into the soil (CS2 treatment) is more conducive in increasing SOC and aliphaticity in HA during corn straw decomposition, which can potentially increase C sequestration.

Bioenergetic assessment of sewage sludge application under Silphium perfoliatum L. on sod-podzolic soils of Precarpathians

Many countries around the world are paying close attention to the search and use of the alternative energy sources that could replace fossil hydrocarbons: oil and gas. The grown biomass of the green plants is considered as an alternative energy source for biofuel production. One of the energy crops, which is able to form high yields of the biomass and can be used as a source of the bio raw materials, is Silphium perfoliatum L. Studies have determined the bioenergetic efficiency of the growing sylphia perforated with the introduction of different rates of the sewage sludge on sod-podzolic soils of the Precarpathian region. A comparative analysis of the morphometric parameters of the plants of the Silphiumper foliatum L. was held and it showed the changes in height and diameter of the shoots, length and width of the leaves, there was determined its productivity and energy yield with the Silphiumper foliatum L. biomass and there was also held a statistical analysis of the experimental parameters. It is established that the addition of the fertilizer based on the sewage sludge and straw at a rate of 30–40 t/ha and mineral fertilizers N10-50P14-52K58-74 under the sylphiaperforated provides an increase in the crop productivity at the level of 20.5–22.4 t/ha, the highest gross energy yield 356–385 GJ/ha with biomass and the highest energy efficiency. The energy efficiency coefficient is 1.2–1.3, and its correlation dependence on the yield of the dry biomass and energy reserves in humus is close. On the basis of the field research the mathematical equation of the forecast of the bioenergy efficiency depending on the norms of these wage sludge addition is made, the coefficients of the energy efficiency on the basis of an output of the dry biomass and energy stocks in humus of sodpodzolic soil are defined.

Soil Humus, Iron, Sulphate and Magnesium Content Affect Nectar Traits of Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum L.).

Recent studies revealed that from various ecological factors influencing nectar yield and quality of a plant, soil properties can be as important as microclimatic features. To date, few studies have investigated the relationship of soil characters to nectar traits of bee pollinated plants growing in natural associations. Our study intended to reveal which soil properties had the most powerful impact on nectar variables of wild garlic (Allium ursinum L.). Specimens were collected from fourteen habitats in two different years, and were potted in their original soil under the same climatic conditions. Nectar volumes and sugar concentrations were measured and soil samples were analysed for fourteen parameters. Statistical analyses revealed that the number of nectar producing Allium flowers, as well as the nectar volume and sugar content of nectar in individual flowers were influenced by both year and habitat. The humus, iron and sulphate content of soil showed negative correlation with the number of flowers producing nectar; total nectar volumes were negatively correlated with humus and iron content, but positively affected by magnesium content of the soil. Our results suggest that in addition to the effect of microclimatic factors, certain soil properties can have significant impact on nectar traits.

SCREENING OF THE CONTENT OF SOME HEAVY METALS AT THE HUMUS SOIL HORIZON OF THE TRANSCARPATHIAN REGION

Based on the screening of some heavy metals (HMs) content in the humus soil horizon of the Transcarpathian region, the regularities of the distribution of HMs in the soils of different landscape zones have been established. It is shown that increasing of the terrain height, the content of HMs in soils decreases (except for Mn and Hg) and for the total HMs content the values of the Spearman correlation coefficient are: Cu – (-0.84); Zn – (-0.83); Mn 0.77; Mo – (-0.91); Co – (-0.82); Pb – (-0.83); Hg – absent; for the content of acid-soluble forms: Cu – absent; Zn – (-0.72); Mn 0.75; Mo – (-0.89); Co – (-0.86); Pb – (-0.77); Hg is absent. This pattern is associated with the tectonic and geological features of the different landscape zones. The calculation of the migration coefficient (the ratio of the content of acid-soluble forms to the gross content) has been shown that in mountainous regions this indicator has the highest value for Zn, Pb, and Cu. That means the potential danger of migration of these heavy me­tals and their bioavailability. This is probably connected to the type of soil in the mountai­nous areas of the region. A pronounced inter-element correlation of the HMs content in soils (except for Hg) has been established and the corresponding values of Pearson’s coefficients for the gross content are: Cu:Zn – 0,96; Cu:Mn – (-0,84); Cu:Mo – 0,89; Cu:Co – 0,99; Cu:Pb – 0,87; Zn:Mn – (-0,79); Zn:Mo – 0,91; Zn:Co – 0,96; Zn:Pb – 0,86; Mn:Mo – (-0,86); Mn:Co – (-0,84); Mn:Pb – (-0,75); Mo:Co – 0,87; Mo:Pb – 0,81; Co:Pb – 0,87. This makes it possible to predict the content of several HMs in the soils of the Transcarpathian region based on the results of determining one of them. In general, the content of HMs in the humus soil horizon (total content and content of mobile forms) is lower than the corresponding values of maximum permissible concentrations.&#x0D;

Sulphur in the geochemically conjugated landscapes of the Soimonovsky valley, Chelyabinsk region (Russia)

Problem Statement. The paper presents the results of studying the features of lateral and radial differentiation, as well as the sulfur content in the landscape-geochemical catenes of the Soimonovskaya Valley. Soimonovskaya valley is located in the Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation. For more than 100 years a metallurgical plant for the production of copper has been operating here. The plant supplies to the environment gas and dust emissions that contain various pollutants, including sulfur dioxide. Sulfur oxide affects the soil and vegetation. The objective of the study to assess the impact of emissions of the copper smelter on the content of sulfur in the landscapes of the Soiman valley and determine the patterns of migration and accumulation of sulfur. Materials for the study were ecological and geochemical surveys carried out on the territory of the Soimonov valley and at different distances from the copper smelter. Soil and soil samples were taken in layers every 15-20 cm up to the parent rock. Physico-chemical parameters and sulfur content were determined in soils and grounds. Results. Lithozems (Leptosols), dark humus soils, and soil-like formations (Urbic Technosols) are developed in the study area. Within a radius of 5 km, plant and soil cover is almost completely absent - technogenic landscapes. Soils are very acidic, gross sulfur content in 0-20 cm layer is more than 1000,0 mg/kg. In a radius of 5 - 10 km prevail natural landscapes, partially modified, the reaction of the environment from slightly acidic to neutral, the gross sulfur content in the layer 0 - 20 cm ranges from 190.0 to 900 mg / kg. Autonomous and subordinate landscapes were studied on the example of two catenas. It was found that in landscapes with an abundance of herbaceous vegetation radial differentiation prevails over lateral differentiation, in technogenic landscapes vice versa. Zones of sulfur accumulation and dispersion in landscapes are revealed.

Modifikasi Polietilen sebagai komposit Plastik Polimer Biodegradable dengan Filler Tepung Kulit Pisang Talas

Synthetic polymer polyethylene LDPE has been grafted with natural polymers of banana talas (Musa paradisiacal Var sapientum L.) peels flour. The aim of this research is to make compossed plastic of the thermoplastic banana peels flour with LDPE resins plastic based on mechanic and degradation behaviours. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) resins, glycerol, banana peels, humus soil, xylene p.a as the raw materials. Thermoplastic banana peels flour produced by added 30% glycerol concentration and then by aging for 2 weeks. The mixing of the thermoplastic banana peels flour with LDPE resins using a ratio of 1:3, 2:3 and 3:3. Xylene (coupling agent) 6 times of the total mass were added to increase compatibility between thermoplastic banana peels flour and LDPE. The mechanical properties of composite were analyzed using ASTM D638 method and the biodegradation capability composite were charactherized using soil burial test method. The results show that tensile strength in the ratio of 1:3, 2:3, 3:3 respectively were 28.94 kg/cm2, 36.16 kg/cm2, 29.94 kg/cm2. The percentage of residual weight show the biodegradation capability in the ratio of 1:3, 2:3, 3:3 was 98.46%, 97.67%, 98.24%. Mixing ratio of 2:3 thermoplastic banana peels flour and LDPE has the best value of tensile strength and degradation capability. Forest Soil Cation Dynamics and Increases in Carbon on the Allegheny Plateau, PA, USA Following a Period of Strongly Declining Acid Deposition

Reductions in exchangeable calcium and magnesium and increase in exchangeable aluminum concentrations have been shown in soils impacted by acid deposition, including at four sites on the Allegheny Plateau, PA, USA, sampled in 1967 and 1997 during a period of peak deposition. We repeated sampling at these sites in 2017 to evaluate changes in soils during the more recent period when there has been a strong decline in acid deposition. The uppermost horizons, including the Oa and A horizons where humified organic matter transitions to mineral soil, were thicker, had higher concentrations of organic carbon and exchangeable calcium and magnesium, and lower concentrations of exchangeable aluminum in 2017 compared to 1997, approximating values measured in 1967. Below the Oa/A horizons, 2017 soil chemistry was more similar to the 1997 results, with some reduction of Ca in the recent measurements. These results suggest recovery of base cation–aluminum balance in surface horizons and may indicate a reduction of aluminum mobilization and increased efficiency of vegetation recycling of nutrients with decreased acid anion concentrations. These changes are consistent with a partial recovery from acid deposition. However, the increase in humified soil organic matter may also be affected by coincident increases in temperature and soil moisture.

Bacillus Pumilus as a Supplement for Waste Recycling by Insect

The possibility of enriching the intestinal microbiota of cockroaches of the species Pycnoscelus nigra with a cellulolytic strain - Bacillus pumilus IB-320 was reviewed, as well as an assessment of the effect of the used microorganism on process of bioconversion of various types of paper waste and soil humification. Based on the results of a model experiment with a period of 90 days, various degree of bioconversion of cellulose-containing wastes for the zoomicrobial comple were found (in descending order): grass hay, paper and soil substrate (mix of brick crumbs, softwood sawdust and coconut-fiber substrate). Treatment with strain IB-320 contributed to an increase in the total number of bacteria obtained from the substrates and fecal extracts of cockroaches by 1.5-1.7 and 1.5-3 times, respectively. The introduction of the selected strain also significantly increased the rate of destruction of such substrates as cardboard and egg trays by 40% and 25%, accordingly. In the variant with using the grass hay, the presence of strain IB-320 led to an increase in humic acids by 1.5. The prospects of application Bacillus pumilus IB-320 as part of an active zoomicrobial complex for more efficient disposal of cellulose-containing waste have been shown.

Influence of Anthropogenic Impact on Alteration in the Alluvial Soil Fertility Indicators

The article presents studies on establishing the influence of anthropogenic impacts on alluvial soils of agricultural lands. To solve the problem set, tasks were determined to estimate the degree of damage caused to soils of agricultural lands as a result of the soil humus layer loss or closure. These tasks included establishing the degree of alteration in soil fertility indicators for agricultural lands in regard to pH volume; organic matter content; degree of provision with K2O and P2O5 accessible forms as a result of violating technology of the damaged land stripping and reclamation. Nature of changes in granulometric (grain) and micro-aggregate soil composition is demonstrated. Study objects included agricultural land territories with soil samples of alluvial granular soil taken at the depth of 0-5 cm and 5-20 cm. Necessity is demonstrated to study in detail the agroecological assessment of land use systems and the development of differentiated measures ensuring reproduction of soil fertility, crop growth and territory ecological sustainability. Negative processes are manifested to a varying degree on agricultural land in most administrative regions of Russia including agricultural land in the Orel Region, which requires creation of the ecologically sustainable land use system. Since transformation of compounds entering the ecological system primarily occurs in the soil, which acts as a filter and as the factor of transformation and accumulation of the entering substances, agrobiological features of soil composition and properties make it extremely sensitive to anthropogenic impact. As a result of scientific research, it was revealed that the studied area experienced a decrease in soil fertility main indicators of the alluvial soils and destruction (deterioration) of the fertile soil layer as a result of exposure to anthropogenic influence. Rates of decrease in the organic matter content in soil layer as a result of the soil humus layer damage are shown. Significant fluctuations in the amount of exchangeable potassium in the soils of anthropogenically damaged agricultural lands are established. Degree of decrease in the amount of available phosphorus in soils without humus layer is revealed. Significant alteration in the granulometric (grain) composition of the damaged land soil is proved.

Agrocenosis Stability during Long-Term Application of Fertilizers on Soddy-Podzolic Soil

In a long-term field experiment in the western part of the nonchernozemic zone of Russia (Smolensk oblast) on sandy loamy soddy-podzolic soil (Albic Glossic Retisol (Loamic)), the comparison of the effect of various rates and combinations of organic and mineral fertilizers revealed their efficiency in all the studied variants, except for the separate application of phosphorus fertilizers. It was found that the organomineral system—N90P90K90 + manure 9 t/ha—provided a deficit-free humus balance in the soil and stable productivity of crops (average for 30 years) at the level of 3.79 tons of forage units per hectare, or 37% higher than the control (without fertilizers). The mineral fertilizer system—N90P90K90—by the end of the fourth crop rotation was not inferior in the productivity to the organomineral system, but it led to a decrease in the soil humus content and pHKCl. The organic system with an annual manure rate of 9 t/ha occupied an intermediate position with respect to the crop rotation productivity (3.41 t/ha of forage units), as well as with respect to the soil fertility reproduction. A reliable increase in crop yield in the aftereffect was only recorded in the variants of organic and organomineral fertilizer systems, i.e., when soils were saturated with organic matter from manure. The soil in these variants was characterized by the high total number of microorganisms.

Monitoring of Arable Land Fertility Based on Agrochemical Analysis and Dynamics of Changes in Soil Organic Matter Reserves

The article considers the problems of food security on the example of assessing the initial state of arable land fertility. Agrochemical soil analysis makes it possible to determine the direction of a complex of reclamation measures that can significantly increase soil fertility. The need for this is defined due to the development of degradation processes in the soil, as a result of which the reserves of soil humus and basic nutrients necessary for the productive development of plants have sharply decreased. The authors of the article proposed the evaluation of the initial fertility of arable land on the main agrochemical parameters (humus G, nitrogen N, phosphorus P, potassium K and hydrolytic acidity Ng). Based on the data of agrochemical soil laboratory in the farm "Memory of Lenin" in Krasnodar Territory, an initial average agrochemical state of arable land, which was the initial and maximum index of fertility (S(G), S(NPK), S(Ng) and the composite index of the soil - S). The complex of reclamation measures should be aimed at: increasing the reserves of humus in the soil, as a result of additional input of soil biomass; increasing the doses of mineral fertilizers, bringing the ratio of mineral nutrition elements to the optimal. To determine the trend of changes in the state of arable land, it is necessary to forecast it.

The soil quality of the world's largest refugee campsites located in the Hill forest of Bangladesh and the way forward to improve the soil quality

The Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh are located in the forest areas of the Cox's Bazar South Forest Division. The construction of refugee camps has caused detrimental changes in the natural vegetation and soil quality of the campsites. The objectives of this study were to develop a database on the soil quality of the block plantation sites and to prescribe native species for plantation and site quality improvement. A total of 204 soil samples from 34 sites of block plantations and control-denuded hill sites were collected from the refugee camps. Soil physical properties (depth of humus layer, bulk density, soil texture) and chemical properties (pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon, and nutrients (N, P, and K) of the collected samples were measured. Depth of soil humus layer was varied from 0.6 to 2.5 cm and only 4% sampling points possessed the humus layer. Comparatively (p < 0.05) higher bulk density (1.64 g/cm3) was observed for the control-denuded sites. Soil EC found to vary significantly (p < 0.05) among the plantations types and the control-denuded hill sites. Comparatively lower concentration of soil organic carbon and nutrients (N, P, and K) were observed for the control-denuded hill sites. While comparatively higher stocks of carbon and nutrients were observed for block plantations without terraces. This study has prescribed 40 native tree species for plantation in the campsites. However, periodic monitoring of the soil quality properties and carbon stock and sequestration are at a time interval are needed to track the restoration performance of the studied areas.

Pengelolaan usaha tani bayam (Amaranthus tricolor L.) di Kota Pekanbaru

Spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a plant whose leaves are usually consumed as vegetables. The purpose of this study is to analyze spinach (A. tricolor L.) farming in an ecological, economic and social perspective and formulate sustainable spinach (A. tricolor L.) farming strategies in Pekanbaru City. The research was conducted in the city of Pekanbaru in May-July 2020. This research was conducted using the survey method to the field to obtain relevant information about the implementation of spinach farming in Pekanbaru City. The results of this study are the area of land for planting spinach in Tampan District covering 3 hectares and in Marpoyan Damai District 3.5 hectares. The type of soil used in Marpoyan Damai and Tampan Districts is humus soil. Soil pH in Marpoyan Damai and Tampan Districts ranges between 5.5-6. The average rainfall in Pekanbaru City is 170.7 with an average length of rainy days 14 days per month and humidity in Pekanbaru City is 70-85%. Overall, in terms of ecology, it is suitable for good habitat for growing spinach. Costs incurred in Marpoyan Damai District are Rp 11,670,000 per hectare while in Tampan District Rp 8,260,000 per hectare. The revenue of spinach farming group in Marpoyan Damai District is Rp. 22,800,000 and in Tampan District is Rp. 17,100,000. The income of spinach farmers in Marpoyan Damai District is Rp11,130,000 and in Tampan District Rp8,840,000. B / C ratio in Marpoyan Damai District is 1.95 and in Tampan District is 2.07. In Marpoyan Damai Subdistrict, spinach farming is carried out by the Farmer Group, namely by Mr. Mudhofir who is 39 years old with high school education. Conflicts between farmers that have occurred are land problems and have been resolved as a family. In Tampan District, spinach farming is carried out by the Baskara Jati Farmer Group, namely by 51-year-old Mr. Topan with junior high school education. Conflicts between farmers that have occurred are differences in understanding and have been resolved as a family. The management of spinach farming in Pekanbaru City has been going well, and there is already an efficiency in planting and it is said to be profitable. Based on this analysis, spinach farming in Pekanbaru City is profitable and feasible to be developed.

Investigating the environmental pollution caused by steel slag in Dana steel rolling mill plant, Katsina

Presence of heavy metals in the soil may contaminate the surrounding environment which causes chronic diseases. The waste steel slag in Dana steel rolling mill Katsina, Nigeria is always dumped within the premises of the company. Therefore, this research examined the level of environmental pollution caused by the deposited steel slag. Minipal 4 version of PW4030 X –Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (XRF Spectrometer) was used to analyse the chemical composition of sample A (slag), sample B (mill scale), sample C (humus soil) and sample D (humus soil and slag) at Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Chemical compounds were detected in all the samples with oxides, Fe2O3 (11.8% - 86.13%) and SiO2 (4.41% - 57.7%) dominating. Product moment correlation coefficient was used to compare the effect of Slag (sample A) on Humus soil (sample C). The result obtained has shown that, the calculated value r = + 0.763 is greater than the table value r = + 0.483 at 5% level of significance and 15 d.f. This indicates that, the correlation between the two samples is highly significant. Fe2O3, MnO and ZnO trace elements in the humus soil were enriched after cultured with slag sample and P2O5, K2O, CaO, and SO3 trace elements that are useful for plants growth and development were leached.

Impact of powdered and liquid laundry detergent greywater on soil degradation

Pressure on freshwater resources has resulted in greater greywater reuse for irrigation. Laundry greywater is one of the largest yet potentially soil damaging streams of domestic greywater. There is limited research on the susceptibility of soils with various properties to degradation by laundry greywater. Thus the aim of this laboratory study was to investigate the effect of typical liquid and powdered laundry detergent greywater application on humus removal and hydraulic conductivity on a range of urban soils from the Cape Town region, South Africa. Powdered detergent (PD) greywater was significantly more detrimental in terms of soil humus removal and decreasing hydraulic conductivity compared to the liquid detergent (LD) greywater attributed to its alkaline pH (pH 9.95) and 30-fold higher Na content. Sandy soils were the most susceptible to humus losses due to PD greywater application (7.5% soil C lost) while Fe oxide-rich chromic soils were the least (1.5% soil C lost). Granite-derived, kaolinitic soils were most susceptible to reduction in hydraulic conductivity (81% reduction) due to PD greywater application, while Fe-rich chromic soils were the least (47% reduction). PD greywater should not be used for irrigating soils due to its aggressive soil degrading qualities while LD greywater should be used cautiously.

RESPON PERTUMBUHAN TANAMAN BAYAM CABUT (Amaranthus tricolor L.) TERHADAP BEBERAPA MACAM MEDIA TANAM DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN POT BATANG SEMU PISANG (Musa paradisiaca L.) SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR UNTUK MATERI PERTUMBUHAN DAN PERKEMBANGAN

Pseudo banana stems can be used as a pot for planting spinach, because it contains with moisture content of ± 96.2 %. Spinach in its infancy requires considerable water. Requirements for success in the cultivation of spinach on banana pseudo stem pots is planting media. The composition of the planting media of topsoil, sand, and husk charcoal used contains nutrients that might suit the needs of spinach extracted. This research is closely related to the learning of biology at school in the matter of growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of spinach’s growth to various kinds of planting media by using pseudo banana stem pots and produce a valid LKPD as a learning resource for growth and development material. Experimental research uses a completely randomized design (RAL), consisting of 5 treatments and 5 repetitions. The parameters observed were stem height, number of leaves, and wet weight of the plant. Data analysis using F test at α level of 5%. If there is influence continued with LSD or DNMRT test at α level of 5%. LKPD development research uses four-D models to the Develop stage which is at the validity stage. Analysis of the data used is quantitative analysis. The results showed that the response of spinach spinach growth to several kinds of growing media using pseudo potted stem pots of banana gave a significant effect on stem height and number of leaves. The best growing media for growth of spinach plants pulling out on banana pseudo stem pots is 100% humus soil. LKPD that was developed in the matter of growth and development is categorized as very valid in the aspects of content worthiness, linguistic, presentation, and graphic.

Hibernation Period in Some Land Snail Species (Gastropoda: Helicidae): Epiphragmal Structure and Hypometabolic Behaviors

In this study, the hypometabolism behavior, epiphragm formation process, and the mineral composition of the epiphragmal structure of the Helix pomacella, Eobania vermiculata, Helix melanostoma, and Helix asemnis land snails were investigated during the hibernation period. 100 snails selected among mature individuals, 25 from each species, were collected from nature for the research. The snails were placed in four 50x50x5 cm pans containing 20-cm-deep humus soil. Snails were fed with lettuce by free feeding until the hibernation period. Hypometabolism behavior of snails that had hibernated between November and December 2018, and January and February 2019 were examined as entering the hibernation stage, hibernation stage, and leaving the hibernation stage. The ionic concentration (Calcium, Iron, and Phosphorus) of the epiphragm layer formed during the hibernation process was analyzed, its formation duration, and its degradation at the end of the hibernation period were examined. In the study, it was determined that the weight before hibernation reduced by 18-22% in all examined species (H. pomacella, E. vermiculata, H. melanostoma, and H. asemnis). The highest values in terms of epiphragm formation duration (19±0.30 days), weight (0.41±0.26 g), and thickness (0.310±0.22 mm) were determined in H. asemnis. In terms of the ionic concentration, the highest Calcium level was determined in H. asemnis (29.96±0.12 mg/g) while the highest Phosphorus level (4.02±0.20 mg/g) was determined in E. vermiculata, and the highest Iron content was found in H. pomacella (19.50±0.33 mg/g). The degradation duration of the epiphragm layer at the end of hibernation was determined the longest in E. vermiculata (7 days) whereas the shortest in H. pomacella (3 days). As a result of the present research, it was seen that the epiphragm layer is important for snails in terms of a sustainable life cycle and that the ecological tolerances of snails depend on the epiphragmal structure.

Dynamics of Changes in Selected Soil Traits in the Profiles of Arable Soils Anthropogenically Alkalised by the Cement and Lime Industry within the Kielecko-Łagowski Vale (Poland)

This study presents the influence of the cement and lime industry on the physical and chemical properties of arable soils. In spite of using modern forms of environmental protection against dust emissions, this type of industry causes unfavourable phenomenon of excessive alkalisation of soil. This process is relatively rare in Poland. However, in the Świętokrzyskie Province, it has been responsible for the largest transformation of soils in recent years. The analysis included soil samples taken from five profiles located in the vicinity of Dyckerhoff Polska Sp. z o.o. Nowiny Cement Plant. The study results obtained in 2019 were compared with those obtained in 1978 and 2005. The most attention was paid to soil pH; CaCO3 content; organic carbon and nitrogen content; concentrations of available components such as P2O5, K2O and Mg; and the saturation level of sorption complex with alkaline cations. It was found that long-term imission of pollutants caused significant changes in the basic soil properties, which remain in soils despite the evident decrease in the cement-lime dust emission. These include high pH values, excessive CaCO3 content, high soil saturation with alkaline cations and decreases in total carbon content, which were especially visible in soil humus horizons.
