Landscape Design of Memorial Garden Based on Computer Vision Communication and Realization by Visual Quality Prediction

This paper discusses the balance between artistry and science in the landscape design of memorial gardens, which relies on visual quality prediction. This paper introduces the theoretical basis of vision quality prediction, including the definition, evaluation method and prediction model of vision quality. This paper analyzes the artistry and scientificity of memorial garden landscape design. It expounds that artistry emphasizes the designer’s innovation and aesthetic expression, while scientificity focuses on the feasibility and practicability of design. Finding a balance between the two, so that the design can meet aesthetic and practical needs is an essential challenge for designers. The application of visual quality prediction in memorial garden landscape design and its influence on the balance between artistic and scientific design are discussed in detail. It is found that visual quality prediction can provide a scientific basis for designers to make decisions and help them create high-quality visual effects while meeting practical needs. The research results are summarized, and the future research direction is prospected. With the development of computer technology and artificial intelligence technology, visual quality prediction will play an increasingly important role in landscape design.

Windage loss characterisation for flywheel energy storage system: Model and experimental validation

In this paper, a windage loss characterisation strategy for Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS) is presented. An effective windage loss modelling in FESS is essential for feasible and competitive design. Unlike generic aerodynamic loss models, FESS require particular attention to their unique characteristics i.e., vacuum, small airgaps, high angular speed, and presence of low friction rotor supports.The proposed model is based on several analytical and semi-empirical windage loss solutions for cylindrical and planar surface interactions, harmonised to manage the transition between laminar and turbulent flows. Also, the model is enriched by introducing corrections for rarefied gasses, using kinetic gas theory formulation. Therefore, it is possible the reduce the windage overestimation occurring with Navier–Stokes equation solutions for laminar flow. The model is compared to case studies from the literature featuring different boundary and operating conditions, to check consistency of all the harmonised models. A dedicated experimental test-rig is developed to validate the corrections to the model for rarefied gas at different vacuum levels. Then, a non-invasive characterisation approach for FESS windage losses in self-discharge phase is proposed and validated on the test-rig.

Adopting a systems engineering approach to a feasibility study of a sidings development at the Midsomer Norton railway station

It is planned to reopen Midsomer Norton railway station, which is a station on the Somerset & Dorset Heritage Railway Line, to traffic. As a first step, Midsomer Norton will be a terminus, and it is proposed to build sidings and a depot for the trains that terminate there. However, a ground investigation is essential before commencing construction of the sidings and the depot, as this is a vital part of any civil engineering process. The behaviour of the ground must be known in order for a structure to be supported by it; therefore, data from the ground investigation are used as reference for any kind of structure development. This study covers a site investigation that includes a desk study, walkover survey, sampling and laboratory testing in order to ascertain the feasibility of a suitable design. Moisture content testing, liquid limit and plastic limit tests, standard compaction testing, shear vane tests, and triaxial compression tests were carried out to determine the soil characteristics and to analyse the soil behaviour. A strong recommendation was made to follow a systems engineering approach in the construction phase, as well as in the design stage. The dependability of the system is ensured by the good use of V – process of systems engineering.

Development of Sparkol Videoscribe-Based Animated Video Learning Media on the Subject of IPAS Material Changes in the Form of Substances

This research was conducted to develop learning media Sparkol Videoscribe-based animated video that is feasible and effective in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of students in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) material on changes in the form of substances in class IV SDN 1 Tambakrejo, Grobogan Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a development research method (R&D) based on the Borg and Gall development model. The data collection techniques used include tests (pretest and post test) and non-tests (observation, interview, documentation, and questionnaire) with research subjects 1 material expert, 1 media expert, teachers as practitioners and students totaling 9 on small-scale trials and 25 on large-scale trials. The results of validation by expert validators showed a high level of material feasibility and learning media design, namely 90.62% and 93.30%. This learning media is proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes, indicated by the results of the t-test of the pretest and posttest values with sig (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.005 and 0.004 < 0.005 while in the N-gain test there was an increase from 64.06 to 77.62 with a difference of 13.56 with a percentage of 0.39% including into the "medium" criteria. Thus, it can be concluded that it has been successfully developed Sparkol Videoscribe-based animated video learning media that is feasible and effective to use in learning to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes in IPAS subjects on material changes in the form of substances.

Monodisperse silver nanocubes composite Ag@C/SrTiO3 photocatalytic decomposition of water for hydrogen reduction

Metal-induced photocatalysis has been a relatively effective strategy for the efficient use of solar energy. In this paper, highly efficient and stable Ag@C/SrTiO3 photocatalysts were prepared by compounding silver nanocubes wrapped with few layers graphite with strontium titanate materials. We obtained silver nanocubes with a uniformly dispersed size of about 35 nm by varying the surface energy of silver and inducing the preferential binding of PVP on the (100) crystal plane with the help of selective adsorption of chloride ions on the different crystal planes of silver. As obtained under the characterisation of UV–visible absorption spectra, the material has a broad visible light absorption (450–900 nm). The Ag@C/SrTiO3 has a hydrogen reduction rate of up to 457.5 μmol g−1·h−1 under simulated sunlight, which is ∼200 % higher than the SrTiO3 and ∼900 % higher than the sliver. Moreover, the catalyst was stable, still producing 93.5 % hydrogen after three cycles of testing, and the photocatalyst structure did not change as known from the XRD data of the material before and after testing. The present work demonstrates the feasibility of rational design of efficient and stable silver-based photocatalysts.

Descriptor Design for Perovskite Material with Compatible Molecules via Language Model and First-Principles.

Directly applying big language models for material and molecular design is not straightforward, particularly for real-scenario cases, where experimental validation accuracy is required. In this study, we propose a multimode descriptor design method for materials prediction and analysis, leveraging the advantages of the natural language processing literature model and density functional theory (DFT) calculations with the assistance of the genetic algorithm (GA). A case study on prediction of aqueous photocurrents of multisolvent engineered halide perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 is performed, and the following-up validation experiments are carried out to demonstrate the improved accuracy of the multimode descriptors (an unprecedented experimental validation accuracy of 87.5% via the GA is achieved) for predicting aqueous photocurrents of perovskite materials (c.f. only 50% experimental accuracy for other common machine learning models). The improved experimental accuracy of the descriptors is attributed to the successful deployment of a language model incorporating concise scientific information from >1 million articles into molecular descriptors in combination with DFT calculations. The subsequent machine learning analysis suggests the importance of cation···π and crystallization in molecule-modified halide perovskite materials representing ontological and conceptual understanding. Importantly, the genetic process affords an accurate "white-box" model to describe the perovskite stability (accuracy = 90.2% for the test data set and 92.3% for the train data set) with the mathematical equation , where F1 ∼ F5 atomic-level structural and chemical details such as cation···π interactions and highest occupied molecular orbital levels. This study offers a feasible descriptor design route to accurately predict complex material properties, leveraging both language models and density functional theories.

Sliding connectors for cyclic construction of steel-UHPC composite truss arch bridges: design method and feasibility study

To break through the three major technical bottlenecks of traditional long-span arch bridges, which are excessive self-weight, high cost and difficult construction, a new steel-ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) composite truss arch bridge scheme and a matching cyclic construction method were proposed. The main arch can be divided into several times for closure from the inside out. Special transverse connection devices need to be installed between the arch ribs constructed with successive closures by step. The devices can not only ensure the stability of the arch ribs constructed subsequently, but also do not cause serious stress superposition on the already closed arch ribs. Therefore, sliding connectors for the cyclic construction of new arch bridges and the corresponding simplified modeling method were proposed in this paper. Subsequently, the working mechanism was analyzed, and the design method was proposed. Finally, the feasibility of sliding connectors and the correctness of the corresponding design method were verified by the experiment. The results indicate that it is necessary to install a transverse sleeve structure in the sliding connector, which plays a key role in transverse adjustment. The design of key dimensions in sliding connectors is controlled by the maximum vertical and longitudinal displacements of the inner arch. The outer arch could slide freely under the premise of ensuring stability, and the mechanical superposition response of the inner arch was relatively small. For the inner arch, the vertical displacement at the crown only increased by 10.94 %, and the maximum compressive stress in the UHPC arch ribs only increased by 16.3 %. The sliding connector also has the potential for further optimization to achieve smaller stress superposition.

Design and optimization of 30 kW CLLLC resonant converter for vehicle‐to‐grid applications

AbstractThe CLLLC resonant converter is a promising technology for electric vehicles and microgrids due to its ability to operate bidirectionally. This article presents a design of a bidirectional CLLLC resonant converter that is applied in the vehicle‐to‐grid (V2G). The battery side of the converter uses a two‐channel parallel structure to enhance its efficiency and reliability. In contrast, the DC‐bus side uses a transformer series structure to obtain the benefits of passive current sharing on the secondary side and reduce the transformer turns ratio. By utilizing the proposed design method, the converter can achieve a wide input and output voltage range, high efficiency, and high power density. The article analyzes the working principle of the converter and explains the design process, which includes the transformer turns ratio, magnetizing inductance, and resonance parameters. Finally, an experimental prototype is produced to verify the theory's validity and the design's feasibility. The prototype has a DC‐bus side voltage of 660–860 V, a battery side voltage of 250–500 V, and a maximum power output of 30 kW. The peak efficiency of the prototype is 98.2%, and its power density can reach up to 8 kW/L.

Tumor Microenvironment‐Activatable Metal‐Phenolic Nanoformulations for Ultrasound‐Boosted Ferroptosis through Triple Regulatory Pathways

AbstractDespite its effectiveness in exterminating tumor cells, ferroptosis is seriously hampered by the high expression of antioxidant glutathione (GSH) and the inadequacy of endogenous H2O2 in tumors. Herein, metal‐phenolic nanoformulations (FNCP NFs) composed of sonosensitizer Chlorin e6 (Ce6), the phenolic GSH consumer naphthazarin, and Fe3+, followed by the modification of PEG2000, are strategically designed and fabricated for ultrasound‐boosted ferroptosis in tumor cells through triple regulatory pathways. The carrier‐free FNCP NFs can rapidly dissociate under tumor microenvironment response with the assistance of ultrasound, releasing Fe2+, Ce6, and naphthazarin. Ce6 and Fe2+ are capable of producing singlet oxygen (1O2) and hydroxyl radicals (·OH) by ultrasound‐activated sonodynamic therapy and Fenton reaction‐mediated chemodynamic therapy (CDT), respectively, which not only induce apoptotic cell death but also lead to the effective accumulation of lipid peroxidation (LPO), resulting in ferroptosis. Meanwhile, the released naphthazarin and the self‐cycling valence alternations of Fe3+/Fe2+ promote the significant decrease of intracellular GSH contents, further inducing the inactivation of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and the up‐regulation of LPO levels, eventually realizing the synergistically enhanced ferroptosis. This facile and feasible design for versatile metal‐phenolic nanoformulations offers a new strategy for effectively improving ferroptosis efficiency and multimodal cancer therapies.

Analysis, optimization, and testing of a tilt-body aircraft

This paper proposes a new multidisciplinary design optimization framework for tilt-bodies to obtain the optimal combination of geometry and powertrain, achieving both long endurance and low transition power consumption at a 5 kg takeoff weight. A low-fidelity vortex lattice method is used to derive the aerodynamic coefficients. The tandem wings are trimmed using an optimization-based method, considering the effect of distributed propulsion on the trim solution through aero-propulsive interaction at low flight speed. Detailed powertrain parameters are fitted with fewer design variables to calculate power consumption. By analyzing the unique constraints of tilt-bodies, the optimization problem is established as a simultaneous analysis and design architecture, and solved with different numbers of rotors. The impact of the relative geometric relationship between the front and rear wings on aerodynamic performance and constraints is analyzed. Results demonstrate the full angle-of-attack flight capability of tilt-bodies. The optimal design can save nearly 1000 W in transition, with a pure cruise endurance of over 1 hour, which is competitive among other configurations. With an empty weight of only 2 kg, a portion of the battery can be allocated to a heavier payload. High-fidelity computational fluid dynamics corrects the errors of the vortex lattice method on non-lifting components, including the fuselage, nacelles, and landing gear. Finally, the feasibility of the optimal design and the accuracy of the framework are validated by wind tunnel tests and in-flight drag measurements on a test platform.

Methodology for optimally designing hydrogen refueling station barriers using RSM and ANN: Considering explosion and jet fire

Hydrogen is gaining attention as a sustainable energy source with the potential to replace fossil fuels. Due to its high diffusivity and wide flammability range, hydrogen can easily ignite with minimal electrical energy, leading to explosion and fires with minimal friction. Effective blast walls can restrict the dispersion of hydrogen, reducing the explosion overpressure due to delayed ignition. In addition, firewalls can improve safety by minimizing the impact behind the walls, thereby reducing the radiant heat caused by jet fires. This study proposes to optimize the distance between leak sources and barriers, as well as the height and width of barriers, to address explosion overpressure and radiation heat at hydrogen refueling stations (HRS). The optimization was carried out using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and validated by simulations. This study confirms the feasibility of the barrier design at HRS and contributes to the improvement of safety.

Architecting CubeSat constellations for messaging service, Part I

In today’s modern and globalized world, connectivity is a key factor for businesses, production facilities, sensor networks, and ordinary people. However, there are still populated areas which are not covered by ground-based telecommunications infrastructure. This is where telecommunication satellite constellations come in, as they can provide coverage to remote and uninhabited regions and fill existing connectivity gaps to ensure data transfer.LoRa is one of the technologies designed for data transmissions over long distances with low power consumption. Alongside with other technologies of the Low-Power Wide Area Network family, it is widely used for Internet of Things applications. LoRa chirp spread spectrum modulation is robust against the Doppler frequency shifts encountered in low earth orbits, and it has already been used in IoT satellite communications. Due to the low transmitted signal power, the achieved data rate is not high, making it a suitable technology for telecommunications payloads on CubeSat platforms for messaging services. As compared to existing traditional communication satellite systems, CubeSat constellations are low-cost and may offer an affordable connectivity service to developing regions.This study is divided in two parts. In Part I the demand model is built based on the population distribution not covered by cell towers. The LoRa link performance is analyzed, considering the impact of LoRa channel parameters variation, such as spreading factor and channel bandwidth, while satellite orbital height, transmission antenna beamwidth, and transmitter peak power have a direct impact on the payload mass. Among thousands of possible configurations, 73 feasible payload designs have been downselected. In Part II of the study, the satellite mass and the total system cost are estimated based on the payload parameters obtained. Messages transmission simulation via a constellation is conducted in order to identify optimal constellation architectures for messaging service, as well as the main drivers of the system economic profitability.The presented analysis results provide a deeper understanding of LoRa connectivity advantages and limitations together with the performance drivers, which will support the optimization of future LoRa-based satellite communication systems and other IoT satellite constellations.

Research on the Spatiotemporal Pattern and Influencing Mechanism of Coastal Urban Vitality: A Case Study of Bayuquan

Enhancing the spatial vitality of coastal cities is beneficial for the sustainable development of urban construction. However, how to fully utilize coastal resources and boost urban vitality is an important issue. This study takes the coastal city of Bayuquan in China’s cold region as an example. Firstly, we conducted field investigations and data mining in Bayuquan, utilizing Baidu heat map data to measure the spatial–temporal vitality of different areas in Bayuquan. Secondly, we used Moran’s I test to examine the spatial autocorrelation of coastal spatial vitality. Lastly, with the help of the OLS and GWR models, we explored the factors influencing spatial vitality and the urban built environment. The research findings indicate the following: (1) There are spatial–temporal differences in the vitality of different areas in Bayuquan, heavily influenced by the tourist season. (2) The OLS results show that the impact of the built environment on spatial vitality exhibits spatial heterogeneity during different tourist seasons. However, we found no spatial heterogeneity in the influencing factors in the harbor district. (3) The harbor district and the tourism-driven district re quire differentiated construction guidance. Facility functions and block morphology mainly influence the vitality of the harbor district, while the vitality of the tourism-driven district is primarily affected by its aesthetic characteristics. This study can propose differentiated regional construction guidance and specific feasible coastal urban design strategies for seasonally influenced coastal city construction. It holds significant implications for improving urban living quality and is vital to urban decision-makers, planners, and stakeholders.

Incremental Placement Technology Based on Front-End Design

As the scale and complexity of chips continue to increase, chip design becomes increasingly challenging. Designers typically need multiple iterations to achieve satisfactory results, but the substantial time required for each modification exacerbates the time pressure in the chip design process. Incremental methods are an effective technique to shorten the development iteration time. Therefore, this paper proposes a module-based incremental layout technique utilizing the hierarchical structure of the unflattened netlist. We have developed an incremental EDA tool for mid-version evaluation, covering the process from RTL to placement DEF. This tool enables faster synthesis and layout, assisting designers in assessing the feasibility of the current RTL design, thereby accelerating the estimation of the PPA (Power, Performance, and Area) during version iterations. It aids in making better choices for RTL design and logic synthesis, consequently shortening the chip development iteration time.

Can Glamping be a Vacation to Help Dink Couples Relax and Maintain Close Relationships?

Glamping brings a glamorous tourism experience providing potential opportunities to escape from daily routines and maintain relationships during difficult/special times, such as the pandemic with travel restrictions or postpandemic travel concerns. It is innovative to explore the unique group of DINK (dual income, no kids) couples using glamping as context. This study examines the variations in closeness among DINK couples based on four individual attachment styles (i.e., secure, anxious, dismissive, fearful), and explores the relationships between closeness and subjective well-being. A pilot test with 118 valid responses was adopted to ensure the validity of items and feasibility of the study design. Utilizing attachment theory with four attachment styles, the main study analyzed 940 valid responses using confirmatory factory analysis, ANOVA, and multigroup path analysis. This study highlights that people with a secure attachment style have a significantly 1) higher level of closeness with their partner and 2) stronger relationship between closeness and subjective well-being compared to the other three attachment styles (i.e., anxious, dismissive, and fearful). The results suggest that glamping providers could improve glamping environments to be peaceful and comfortable to attract potential glampers who have higher anxiety (i.e., anxious and fearful attachment styles). Further, the results indicate that glamping could serve as a setting for couples??? therapy and to celebrate special events to enhance close relationships. These promoting/marketing strategies can benefit small glamping businesses develop their products and potentially draw different types of visitors.

The purpose of this study is to develop Power Point -based interactive learning media on digestive system material that is valid, practical, and effective. This research is development research using the Research and Development (R&D) development model. This research was carried out in class XI. The instrument used is a validation questionnaire which includes aspects of content feasibility (material), language feasibility, and design feasibility (media), student response questionnaires and learning outcomes. The data analysis in this study was carried out descriptively on all the data obtained. The results of the analysis show that the learning media is also very practical to be used by students. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the media developed is suitable for use in the learning process of the digestive system

The Development of Interactive Reading Digital Module with Contextual Approach for BIPA International School Students

Teaching BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) in SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) has its polemics. Based on the needs analysis, one of them is that not all BIPA learners in SPK exhibit enthusiasm toward engaging with Indonesian reading materials. This displeasure comes from several factors including a general disinterest in reading, a lack of motivation to utilize the Indonesian language beyond the confines of language classes, and other obstacles like unappealing teaching materials. Thereby, this research aims to develop an Interactive Reading digital Module based on Contextual Approach in SPK. This research uses the RD method with the ADDIE Model design and has evaluation sessions at each stage. This article will focus on the developing stage and show validation results from the expert validators. The results showed that based on expert validators, the interactive reading digital module can be used with the material, media design feasibility percentage of 83% of eligible excellent predicate.

Miniature snapshot mid-infrared spectrometer based on metal-insulator-metal metasurface

Metasurfaces showcase the performance of light field manipulation at the subwavelength scale, generating tremendous applications in the field of optical imaging and sensing, especially in spectroscopic detection. Here, we demonstrate a spectral detector comprising metal-insulator-metal composite structures working in the mid-infrared band, which can effectively collect and restore target spectral characteristics in the mid-infrared band with a trained reconstruction algorithm. The proposed device consists of snapshot multichannel detection and spectral reconstruction, showing an average spectral reconstruction accuracy approaching 80% of the system. Moreover, we discuss the feasibility of applying this structural design to a miniature spectrometer over a wider infrared wavelength range by proposing a feasible design strategy. Our results provide a novel approach for low-cost and portable mid-infrared spectroscopic detection in ultracompact mid-infrared spectral imaging and sensing elements.

Liquid-liquid reactions performed by cellular reactors

Liquid-liquid reactions play a significant role in organic synthesis. However, control of the phase interface between incompatible two-phase liquids remains challenging. Moreover, separating liquid acid, base and oxidants from the reactor takes a long time and high cost. To address these issues, we draw inspiration from the structure and function of cells in living organisms and develop a biomimetic 3D-printed cellular reactor. The cellular reactor houses an aqueous phase containing the catalyst or oxidant while immersed in the organic phase reactant. This setup controls the distribution of the phase interface within the organic phase and increases the interface area by 2.3 times. Notably, the cellular reactor and the aqueous phase are removed from the organic phase upon completing the reaction, eliminating additional separation steps and preventing direct contact between the reactor and acidic, alkaline, or oxidizing substances. Furthermore, the cellular reactor offers the advantages of digital design feasibility and cost-effective manufacturing.
