The Tendencies of Mathematics' Teaching Staff Members in Saudi Arabia Towards Using "Blackboard" in University Teaching and Their Training Requirements: اتجاهات أعضاء هيئة تدريس الرياضيات بالجامعات السعودية نحو استخدام منصة Blackboard في التعليم الجامعي واحتياجاتهم التدريبية

The extract This study aims to detect the tendencies of the mathematics teaching staff in Saudi universities towards using the E- learning management system " Blackboard" in learning and university teaching. And it asks for their training requirements and if there are statistically significant differences between the responds of the sample studies individuals among universities teaching staff. It is about using blackboards in teaching Mathematics that could be attributed to gender variable, academic degree as well as their training background. So, for achieving this objective, the researcher has used the descriptive approach and she used " questionnaire" as a studying tool. The study sample is made up of) 73( teaching member staff whom the "questionnaire" has been sent to them Research's results showed that the tendencies' overall average for teaching member staff is positive with (2.66) percentage. Similarly, the study has shown positive results towards the need for more training on the use of the blackboard system. The study identified a set of recommendations; the most significant is related to: scaling up this experience in all Saudi universities. Beside providing the continuous and intensive training for the teaching staff members and students on the use of the E-learning management system " Blackboard".

The Relationship between the Quality of Managers, the Internal Communication Level and the Institutional Visual Identity

This research analyses the relation between the constructs quality of managers and internal communication and the dependent variable belonging to the institutional visual identity within the Faculties of Physical Education and Sport, funded by the State Budget, in Romania. The data within this study come from a research based on the survey method, with a questionnaire-based tool, reprised from the scientific literature and validated through Alpha Cronbach’s coefficient, ensuring the internal reliability analysis of each construct: the quality of managers, the internal communication, belonging to the institutional visual identity. The research was carried out on a sample of 261 persons from a population of 452 teaching staff members within the faculties of physical education and sport, funded by the State Budget, in Romania. The research was carried out on two directions: one concerning the correlation between the quality of managers and belonging to the institutional visual identity; and the other concerning the correlation between the internal communication and the same belonging to the institutional visual identity.

Practice Patterns and Assessment of Needs for Pediatric Pain Management in Alberta Emergency Departments.

PurposeMany rural and community emergency departments (EDs) experience barriers to providing optimal pain care to children. In preparation for a quality improvement initiative, our team conducted a provincial pediatric pain management practice and needs assessment.MethodsAn online survey was sent to ED administrators and educators from March to May 2017. Themes included pain assessment, pain and distress management strategies, available resources, education, barriers to care, and opportunities for improvement.ResultsForty-five respondents, from 31 EDs representing all five geographic health zones in Alberta, completed the survey. Use of a pain assessment tool was reported at 93.5% (29/31 sites) of the sites. Topical anesthesia was employed “most of the time” before suturing at 67% (18/27) of sites, versus 15% (4/27) before blood work or IV insertion. Eighty-one percent (22/27) of sites reported physically restraining children for procedures “often”, while 37% (10/27) reported use of comfort positioning “often”. Digital distraction devices were available at 37% (10/27) of sites. Reported challenges included lack of resources (33.3%, 12/36), staff education/knowledge (33.3%, 12/36), and absent policies/poor policy adherence (25.0%, 9/36). Opportunities for improvement included staff member education (73.5%, 25/34) and more resources (58.8%, 20/34). Respondents rated their site’s overall ability to manage children’s pain as 50/100 [IQR:21,61].ConclusionGeneral EDs report providing suboptimal children’s pain care, with use of physical restraint for medical procedures, and under-utilization of evidence-based, inexpensive treatment options. There are many gaps in children’s pain care in rural and community EDs which could be addressed through collaborative quality improvement initiatives.

Hate and harassment in academia: the rising concern of the online environment

Hostile online communication is a global concern. Academic research and teaching staff are among those professionals who routinely give public comments and are thus vulnerable to online attacks. This social psychological and criminological study investigated online harassment victimization among university researchers and teachers. Survey participants (N = 2,492) were university research and teaching staff members from five major universities in Finland. Victimization was assessed with a 20-item inventory. The study included a wide range of both background and general measures on well-being at work. Participants also took part in an online experiment involving a death threat targeting a colleague. Results showed that 30% of the participants reported being victims of online harassment during the prior 6 months. Victims were more often senior staff members, minority group members, and from the social sciences and humanities. Those active in traditional or social media were much more likely to be targeted. Victims reported higher psychological distress, lower generalized trust, and lower perceived social support at work than non-victims. Individuals who were targeted by a colleague from their work community reported higher post-traumatic stress disorder scores and a higher impact of perceived online harassment on their work compared to other victims. In the experimental part of the study, participants reported more anxiety when a close colleague received a death threat. Participants also recommended more countermeasures to a close colleague than to an unknown person from the same research field. Results indicate that online harassment compromises well-being at work in academia. There is an urgent need to find ways of preventing online harassment, both in workplaces and in society at large.

Teachers as Private Tutors: Understanding Dual Professional Identities of Six Faculty Members from Uzbekistan University

Due to socio-economic difficulties, many teachers in Uzbekistan combine their regular teaching activities with private supplementary tutoring (PST). Involvement in two professional activities has led to the emergence of teacher and tutor professional identities. It is assumed that the co-existence of dual identities has an influence on the professional activities of a tutor and/or of a teacher. Although a plethora of studies has focused on teacher identity and its effect on teachers’ professional activities and some on co-existence of teacher identity with other social identities, there is a gap in the academic literature with only a few studies on teacher-tutor identity and its impact on their professional activities. The present qualitative study has made an attempt to reveal the types of relationship between these two professional identities, to find out the reasons for the existing relationship and to explore how this relationship impacts their professional activities as a tutor and/or as a teacher. For these purposes, the research utilizes semi-structured interview questions with six university teaching staff members who are also private tutors. By applying a predetermined theoretical framework, an intrapersonal identity network approach, the study reveals the three most predominant types–power relationship, temporal and conflicting. These types of relationship found to have a negative impact on the respondents’ activities as private tutors.

Distinguished performance of teachers of colleges of education / University of Mosul In light of the Corona pandemic

The current research aimed to identify the distinguished performance of te0aching faculties / University of Mosul in light of the Corona pandemic according to variables (gender, academic rank, specialization) by answering the following questions: 1. Is there a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) in the level of outstanding performance compared to the hypothetical average? 2. Is there a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) in the level of outstanding performance according to the gender variable (males, females)? 3. Is there a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) in the level of outstanding performance according to the scientific rank variable (teacher and assistant teacher - professor and assistant professor)? 4. Is there a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) in the level of distinguished performance according to the variable of specialization (scientific - humanitarian) The research community consisted of all the faculty members in the colleges of education at the University of Mosul, who were (976) teaching staff for the 2020/2021 academic year, and (265) teaching and teaching staff members were selected for the research, with a ratio of (27%) to the total community. In order to measure the research variable, the two researchers prepared the outstanding performance tool, and the validity of the three types of the scale was verified by presenting it to a group of experts specializing in educational sciences. , 84) and (0.86), respectively, and the data were treated using, the T test for one sample and two independent samples. The two researchers reached a number of results: The faculty members of the Faculties of Education at the University of Mosul for the departments (scientific and humanitarian) enjoy excellent performance with an above average degree. . The members of the faculty were equal in their assessment of the level of outstanding performance in the variable of specialization (scientific - humanitarian), while it was found that there are differences attributable to the variable of sex and in favor of (males) and the academic rank and in favor of the rank (professor and assistant professor). Use of E-Resources by The Teaching Staff of Engineering Colleges in West Godavari District, AP. A Survey

Abstract: Utility of e-resources in the present era of Information Technology in a topic for study, because it support teaching learning and research activities of the present user community particularly faculty members. Enormous amount of money is needed for subscribing to e-resources. The purpose of this study is to find out the awareness, availability and the use of eresources by the teaching faculty of engineering colleges in West Godavari. District. AP. It also look into the barriers, the users are facing while using the e-resources and their level of satisfaction. A survey was conducted among the teaching staff members of 12 selected engineering colleges in West Godavari District. AP out of 225 questionnaires distributed, 160 responses were received back. The findings shows that the generality of teaching staff members are thoroughly aware about the e-resources and most of them are using e-resources at least once in a week. Majority of the teaching members using desktop computers for accessing the e-resources. Maximum engineering colleges provide e-resources facility availability is good. Majority of the teaching staff members are using desktop computer for accessing the e-resources and the main purpose of using them is for teaching. The study also reveals that all most faculty members are satisfied with the facilities available for accessing eresources. Family Perceptions of Participating in a Structured Summer Kindergarten Transition Program.

Many school districts provide one-time transition events to help students prepare for the rigors of kindergarten; yet, research shows families desire additional information and opportunities to help their children thrive once school begins. Researchers for this study interviewed 39 parents whose children participated in a three-week structured kindergarten transition program designed to promote parental involvement in school, reduce students’ chronic absenteeism, and increase children’s readiness for kindergarten. All interviewees expressed that participating in the program yielded benefits for themselves and their children. Respondents shared that meeting education staff members early during the summer, familiarizing themselves with the layout and routines of their schools, and building stronger social connections with other families were of particular value in helping them prepare for the start of kindergarten. Similarly, understanding kindergarten expectations more thoroughly and acquiring tools to support their children at home were deemed especially beneficial for those families who had not previously participated in preschool or other structured school opportunities. In addition to positive feedback, participants proposed various ways that adjusting the program could better meet the needs of all stakeholders. Suggestions included increasing the length of the student sessions, improving communication between district and families, re-structuring the parent information sessions to be more conducive to working families, and staffing the program with more individuals who would stay on as teachers during the transition from summer to fall. Parent suggestions from this study were synthesized into multiple implications for practice and substantiated by current relevant literature.

Occupational Depression, Cognitive Performance, and Task Appreciation: A Study Based on Raven’s Advanced Progressive Matrices

The Occupational Depression Inventory (ODI) was recently developed to assess depressive symptoms that individuals specifically attribute to their work. Research on the criterion validity of the instrument is still in its infancy. In this study, we examined whether the ODI predicted performance on, and appreciation of, a cognitively challenging test. In light of the link established between clinical depression and neuropsychological impairment, and considering that individuals with depressive symptoms are more likely to feel helpless under challenging circumstances, we hypothesized that occupational depression would be associated with poorer cognitive performance and a darkened appreciation of the task undertaken. We relied on a sample of 1,359 educational staff members. We used an abridged version of Raven’s Advanced Progressive Matrices (RAPMs) as a cognitively challenging task and measure of cognitive performance. RAPMs assess so-called eductive ability (meaning-making and problem-solving abilities) through items of various degrees of difficulty. Transient mood was assessed with a three-item measure before RAPMs were administered. Task appreciation was assessed with a single-item measure after the completion of RAPMs. We found occupational depression to be negatively linked to cognitive performance. A two-step cluster analysis, in which ODI and RAPMs scores were used as classifiers, revealed two profiles of respondents. The first profile was characterized by relatively low levels of depressive symptoms and high levels of cognitive performance; the second profile, by relatively high levels of depressive symptoms and low levels of cognitive performance. The two profiles differed strongly from one another, as indexed by Cohen’s ds of 2.492 regarding depressive symptoms and 1.263 regarding cognitive performance. As anticipated, occupational depression predicted a darkened appreciation of the test. The association remained statistically significant, and largely unchanged, controlling for pretest mood and test performance. The highest levels of depressive symptoms were observed among individuals evaluating the task as “frustrating” and “discouraging.” Our study suggests that occupational depression predicts poorer cognitive performance and a negativized experience of cognitive challenge. Such features may be part of a self-sustaining loop fostering the maintenance of depressive symptoms. The extent to which the ODI predicts performance in the work context needs to be investigated.

The study aimed to identify the attitudes of teaching staff members at the University of Bakht Al-Ruda towards research and teaching from their perspective, and to investigate if there are statistically significant differences between the means of the study participants due to the variables of gender (male, female) and academic rank (associate professor, assistant professor). To achieve this, the descriptive method was adopted and a questionnaire was developed and administered to a sample of (65) teaching staff members who were randomly selected. The final version of the questionnaire consisted of 17 items on teachers’ attitudes towards research and teaching. The study results revealed that teaching staff members’ attitude towards research and teaching at the University of Bakht Al-Ruda was medium, and there were no significant differences in the means of their responses due to gender (male, female), and academic rank (associate professor, assistant professor). The study concluded with a number of recommendations, including that the university administration should provide sufficient financial support for research by providing tools, equipment, laboratories and libraries to encourage research.

This study aimed to identify the educational and technical standards for designing mobile learning applications. To achieve the research objective, the descriptive method was adopted to analyze and describe the previous literature in order to deduce standards. A list of standards was developed in a form of questionnaire in order to identify significance and relevance of standards. The tool was applied in an electronic form to a sample of (35) educational technology experts from the teaching staff members in Faculties of Education in Egypt. After the analysis of the results, a list of educational and technical standards for designing mobile learning applications was identified. These included (5) educational standards with a total of (43) indicators, and (5) technical standards with a total of (48) indicators. In light of these results, a number of recommendations were proposed.

Is the Occupational Depression Inventory predictive of cognitive performance? A focus on inhibitory control and effortful reasoning

The Occupational Depression Inventory (ODI) was recently devised to grade the severity of work-attributed depressive symptoms (dimensional approach) and establish provisional diagnoses of job-ascribed depression (categorical approach). To date, whether ODI-based assessments relate to “objective” (i.e., non-self-reported) indicators of performance is unknown. In this study of 902 educational staff members, we examined the link between occupational depression and cognitive performance. Cognitive performance was evaluated with an extended version of the Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT). The CRT focuses on inhibitory control and effortful reasoning and mobilizes working memory resources. The CRT provides information about individuals' decision-making styles (e.g., degree of deliberation). Participants' transient mood was evaluated prior to the test. Dimensional and categorical analyses were conducted. We found the ODI to negatively predict cognitive performance. Hierarchical linear regression and binary logistic regression analyses indicated that the association remained statistically significant controlling for age, sex, and pretest transient mood. Structural regression analysis revealed similar links. The associations observed were small to moderate in size, consistent with research findings pertaining to clinical depression and neuropsychological functioning. Our study suggests that ODI-based assessments are predictive of objective decreases in cognitive performance. Implications for job performance are discussed.

Educator perspectives on mental health resources and practices in their school

AbstractThe need for mental health services in schools is increasing. Teachers are expected to meet student's academic needs but may find their role impacted by the need for mental health support among students (Bruhn et al., 2014; Kaffenberger & O'Rouke‐Trigiani, 2013). The purpose of this study is to elicit teacher perspectives on addressing the mental health needs of students in school. Staff members from one school in a Midwestern state were interviewed to examine their perspectives related to student mental health. Thirteen classroom teachers (n = 13), four related arts teachers (n = 4), seven special education staff members (n = 7), three building support personnel (n = 3), two office staff (n = 2), and four support staff members (n = 4) were interviewed, for a total of 33 participants (n = 33). Participant experience ranged from 2 to 37 years in education. Utilizing an inductive thematic analysis approach (Braun & Clarke, 2006), information regarding teachers' current knowledge of, roles, and approaches to support students with mental health needs in schools is presented across four main themes. Directions for future research, training, and practice are described.

The study aimed to investigate the relation between organizational values and competitive advantage at the University of Science and Technology- Yemen. The researcher used the descriptive-analytical method and a questionnaire as a tool of the study. The study sample included (113) teaching staff members and their assistants, representing (47.3%) of the whole study population of the university. The results showed that the degree of practicing organizational values in all dimensions from the study sample point of view was high, with mean of (3.92) and a relative weight of (%78.4). The dimension of ''environment management values" came in the first place, while the dimension of " organization management values" came in the last place. The findings also showed that the level of achieving a competitive advantage in all of its dimensions was high with mean of (4.00) and relative weight of (%80.00). The dimension of "academic programs and courses" came in the first place, and "cost and financial & material resources" came in the last place. There was statistically significant relationship at the level of (0.05) between organizational values and competitive advantage with correlation coefficient of (0.76), which is regarded as a strong direct relationship.

Supporting Primary School Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Qualitative Investigation of Teaching Staff Experiences.

Background: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) has a deleterious impact on numerous areas of children’s lives, including school functioning. This study moves beyond eliciting child reports of school functioning to examine teaching staff’s experiences of supporting a child with JIA in school. Methods: A total of 51 UK-based teaching staff members with experience of supporting a child aged 7–11 years with JIA in school were recruited. Participants completed an online qualitative survey regarding their perceptions and experiences of supporting a child with JIA in school, with a subsample of 9 participants completing a subsequent telephone interview to explore responses in greater detail. Survey and interview data were analyzed using the conventional approach to qualitative content analysis. Results: Analyses generated 4 themes: (1) communicating, (2) flexing and adapting, (3) including, and (4) learning and knowing. Findings highlighted the importance of clear communication between teaching staff and parents in addition to the need for teaching staff to provide individualized support for children with JIA which maximized their inclusion within the class. Conclusions: This paper provides new knowledge regarding how teaching staff adopt proactive and creative strategies to support children with JIA, often in the absence of appropriate training, identifying support needs and resources for teaching staff.

The Mechanism of Using e-learning at the University of Misan from the Point of View of the Teaching Staff Members

E- Learning is considered as an interactive system for education by using communication and information technology relied on an electronica digital environment and by the latest methods of learning, tests and guidance and counseling by using computers and its networks and mass media, and smart phones. After the outbreak of (covid -19 pandemic) and the application of the quarantine in Iraq, the university of Miasn directly supplied study materials to the students as a solution that help to complete the academic year so the researcher decided to choose this experience as a field study of the current study. The recent study aims at: 1. Identifying the use of E-learning from the point of view of the teaching staff of Misan University. 2. Identifying the pros and cons of using E-learning from the viewpoint of the teaching staff of Misan University

Mindfulness and Its Relation to Academic Procrastination among University Students

This study explored the level of mindfulness among Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University students and its relation to academic procrastination. The study was randomly chosen from different academic levels to be suitable for the sample of this study, where 1890 female students were chosen. A total of 206 students from science and arts sections participated in the study. The descriptive approach was used because it was more suitable for this study. For statistical analysis and conclusions, two measurement scales devised by the researcher were used: the Mindfulness Scale and the Academic Procrastination Scale. To find the suitability of those scales, honesty and stability factors were implemented on both. For data processing, SPSS statistical program was used to compute means, correlations, 1-taled and 2-tailed t-tests of students' scores on the two scales. Results revealed that students had a high level of both mindfulness and academic procrastination. A statistically significant inversely proportional relationship was found between mindfulness and academic procrastination at (0,5) level. Furthermore, significant differences in mindfulness were found by study level in favor of the seventh level students. No statistically indicated significant differences in mindfulness and procrastination at (0,5)level were found by specialization (science vs. arts). After the statistical results, the researcher recommended to have more concern on counseling programs which aim to develop mindfulness, to increase awareness, and also to pay attention to the educational situation. Moreover, to do tasks on time, which will help make a positive cooperation and build more confidence between students and teaching staff members. In addition, the researcher recommended implementing counseling programs to eliminate the feature of academic procrastination among students. This study also recommended and emphasized the significance of improving E-learning and using new technology to make the educational process more attractive.

Opinions of the Teaching Staff at Taibah University About Islamic Education Teacher Preparation Programs in the Light of the Requirements of Intellectual Security

The current study aims to explore the realm of preparing Islamic education teachers in the light of the intellectual security requirements from the point of view of teaching staff at Taibah University. The researcher used the descriptive approach and designed a questionnaire to review the opinions that consisted of two main topics. The first topic is the intellectual security requirements for the academic preparation program (the Specialist Academic Aspect – the Cultural Aspect – the Educational Aspect “Professional”) to encounter radicalism and terrorism. The second topic is the proposed concept to encounter the obstacles to fulfill intellectual security requirements in the preparation colleges programs. Each main topic is subdivided into a set of clauses (42 clauses) for the two topics. The study sample consists of (83) teaching staff members at the preparation colleges. The study has been applied to the study sample during the first semester of the academic year 1439 – 1440 A.H. The study findings show the following: 
 
 
 The first topic achieved (78.55%) of the opinions of the study sample members about the preparation program of the Islamic Education teachers in the light of the intellectual security requirements for encountering radicalism and terrorism.
 The second topic achieved (93%) of the opinions of the study sample members about the proposed concept to overcome the obstacles to meet intellectual security requirements in the preparation programs.
 There are no differences of the statistical significance level (50. = ∞) among the study sample members toward the questionnaire according to the faculty type for the first topic and the tool in general.
