The article reveals the essence of the following concepts: “competence”, “professional competence”, “professional terminological competence”, “terminological competence of future economic specialists”. The peculiarities of the formation of terminological competence, as a mandatory component of professional training of students of economic education, are highlighted by the author. In particular, the author considers the system of general and professional knowledge as an important component of a competitive specialist, and the level of his professional speech involves mastery of terminological vocabulary. The problem of the formation of professional terminological competence of future specialists in scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists is analysed. The current state of formation of the studied competence in students of economic specialities in higher education institutions is traced in the article. The results of the theoretical study allowed us to formulate the definition of “terminological competence of future specialists in economics”: the ability to accurately, clearly and appropriately use economic terms in the process of professional activity, clearly operate professional terminology, be able to use business management tools, have professional ways to exchange information, use basic methods of information exchange principles of business communication. The author outlines the peculiarities of forming the foundations of terminological competence of future economic specialists. It is determined that knowledge and mastery of specific terminology will ensure success in situations of professional communication, and a low level of mastery of professional speech makes it impossible to adequately understand, objectively assess and thoroughly master students’ knowledge of professional disciplines. Possible ways of increasing the efficiency of terminological vocabulary formation of future specialists are identified. It is proved that the economic terminology system, as well as the terminology of another field of knowledge, is structured using a number of paradigms, such as synonymous, antonymous, paronymic, homonymous. It is concluded that the given exceptional role of terminology in professional activities is important in order to find new methods and organizational forms of training for economic education.
