Integration of mathematics in the pedagogy licensure: analysis of the course at IFTO Porto Nacional

The methodology employed in this study followed a qualitative approach, as per Gil's (2017) guidelines, using descriptive and interpretative analysis. The Pedagogical Project of the Pedagogy Degree Program (PPC) of the Porto Nacional Campus, the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), and Resolution CNE/CP No. 1 of May 15, 2006, were examined. The research aimed to understand and contextualize the curricular guidelines of the course in light of the educational policies established by the BNCC and Resolution CNE/CP No. 1/2006. Detailed readings and comparative analyses of the documents were conducted to identify points of convergence and divergence. The analysis of the results highlighted that the Pedagogy Degree Program at the Porto Nacional Campus - IFTO provides comprehensive training aligned with national curricular guidelines. Graduates are prepared theoretically and practically to work in various professional contexts, including teaching Mathematics, demonstrating ethical commitment and an understanding of students' needs. The course's Fundamentals and Methodologies of Mathematics Teaching discipline addresses the necessary content and methods for effective Mathematics teaching in the early years of Elementary Education, following BNCC guidelines. The course promotes students' engagement and commitment to their professional development, reflecting in the effectiveness of graduates' training.

Automated and interactive selective collection system in the educational context of the early years of elementary education

Striving for a more sustainable future, selective waste collection is essential to minimize environmental impacts and promote societal awareness. This project aims to raise awareness among children in the early years of elementary school. It teaches them interactively about the importance of selective waste collection through the reinforcement and practice of sustainable actions in a playful manner. The automated trash bin, constructed using electronic components, is controlled through the Arduino platform with the assistance of sensors and actuators. Thus, when a child approaches the automated trash bin, a sound is emitted to indicate the type of material the bin receives. This solution aims to teach non-literate children how to perform selective waste collection in an interactive and playful manner, instructing them on the separation and disposal of waste using the trash bin. The final prototype underwent preliminary evaluation by 64 individuals through an online questionnaire comprising nine closed-ended questions. The results were positive regarding the effectiveness of this tool's proposal.

Professional learning of prospective elementary school teachers in supervised training

Our focus was on examining their learning encounters during supervised training. The empirical data for the study encompassed narratives shared by the ten interns during sessions dedicated to teaching in Elementary School, alongside textual productions prepared by the students throughout their training. The analysis of the gathered data has revealed noteworthy learning outcomes concerning teaching in various dimensions. Firstly, it shed light on the process of lesson planning, characterized by its reflective nature, theoretical underpinnings, and comprehensive approach to devising learning pathways for students. Secondly, the investigation illuminated the development of teaching skills, an intricate fusion of multiple elements that collectively facilitate effective classroom practices. Lastly, the study elucidated the dynamics of the school environment, perceived as an interactive, dynamic, pluralistic, and adaptable context conducive to the realization of successful teaching endeavors.

Growth and motor development for the teaching of physical education at school: An analysis in the early years of elementary education

The activities necessary for motor stimulation are developed at school through the execution of movements worked on in class in order to stimulate students in the development of motor skills. Thus, this research aims to analyze the level of motor development of students in the early years of elementary school using the TGMD-2 test as an instrument for assessing motor performance. The results obtained in this study demonstrate that large parts of the sample of evaluated students obtained an unsatisfactory level in fundamental motor skills, in which it can be observed that there is a large number of students who do not have adequate motor development for their age. These results are directly related to the current situation of children in Brazil regarding low motor competence.

Snow white's story for teaching symmetry in the early years of elementary school

This article discusses some possibilities of using Children's Literature for the teaching-learning of Mathematics, which aims to analyze how the story of Snow White can be used for teaching Symmetry. Based on a bibliographic study, the relevance of the theme was highlighted. According to the assumption that literature is one of the tools that can provide students with reading and understanding of the world, we present some activities that allow exploring the potential of Children's Literature. We seek to use excerpts and illustrations from this story to teach Symmetry in the early years of elementary education. As the main conclusion of this study, we have that it is possible to develop Geometry activities to teach the subject in question in the context of that world-famous fairy tale. We aim to present a different way of teaching Mathematics, by seeking a meaningful learning and making teachers interested in this teaching strategy. Atividade didática a partir da temática serpentes: um desafio para a formação inicial de pedagogos

Resumo: Os professores polivalentes que atuam nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental têm poucas oportunidades de aprofundar o conhecimento científico e as metodologias de ensino específicas da área de ciências naturais em cursos de pedagogia nas instituições de ensino superior. Nesse contexto, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo demonstrar a importância de uma atividade didática a partir da temática serpentes, visando sua discussão e a reflexão na formação inicial de pedagogos a fim de favorecer o ensino de ciências. A pesquisa de natureza qualitativa desenvolveu-se durante o primeiro semestre de 2019 em uma disciplina intitulada ‘Ensino de Ciências na Educação Infantil e Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental’, ofertada para acadêmicos do curso de pedagogia. Os dados foram coletados por meio de rodas de conversa e do diário de campo do professor/pesquisador e foram avaliados a partir da análise de conteúdo. A partir das problematizações que emergiram no decorrer da atividade, foram esclarecidas as limitações conceituais relacionadas à temática serpentes. Acredita-se que a problematização dessas limitações pode auxiliar os licenciandos a desenvolver uma prática pedagógica embasada na reflexão e nos conhecimentos adquiridos durante a realização deste estudo. A bússola investigativa: mapeando estudos sobre projetos investigativos nos anos iniciais

Apresentamos neste artigo uma revisão bibliográfica, do tipo estado da arte, que objetivou mapear dissertações produzidas entre os anos de 2010 e 2019, abrangendo a temática “Ensino de Ciências por investigação nos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental”. Para isto, optou-se por analisar estudos desenvolvidos em programas profissionais de pós-graduação do campo da Educação em Ciências e Matemática. Iniciamos apresentando os aspectos metodológicos da pesquisa, os programas encontrados e a seleção dos trabalhos que versam ao propósito deste estudo. A partir da análise dos dados, classificamos e descrevemos as dissertações selecionadas. Os aspectos emergentes encontrados na análise demonstram que o ensino por investigação acontece de forma colaborativa e dialógica em um cenário em que professores e estudantes articulam os conhecimentos científicos com contexto social, a partir de situações-problemas. Oportuniza a experimentação, o levantar hipóteses e o desenvolvimento de novas possibilidades de pensar e agir.

Percepções sobre o uso de calculadoras por estudantes de Pedagogia: contribuições, crenças e reflexões

Este artigo tem a finalidade de trazer as percepções a respeito do uso da calculadora nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental pelos estudantes do curso de Pedagogia de uma Universidade Federal Mineira. Para isso, realizamos uma oficina de calculadoras no Laboratório de Ensino da Matemática que consistia em quatro momentos: preenchimento do questionário inicial, discussão teórica a respeito do uso desta ferramenta, oficina e preenchimento do questionário final. Ao final, realizaram-se análises quantitativa e qualitativa a respeito das respostas obtidas nos questionários, de modo a analisar crenças e percepções sobre o uso desta ferramenta, além de ter um parâmetro sobre a importância de uma oficina com foco no ensino que envolva os recursos da calculadora. Ao fim deste trabalho, concluímos que houve uma maior quantidade de estudantes interessados em implementar a calculadora na sala de aula, além de todos terem afirmado sentir maior segurança quanto ao uso desta ferramenta.

Exigências legais para a atuação de professores nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental (1996-2019)

O objetivo do artigo é apresentar, de forma cronológica, as alterações nas exigências formativas para a atuação nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental contidas na legislação após a promulgação da Lei nº 9.394/1996. Evidencia-se que a exigência da formação superior para atuar nesse nível de ensino é abrandada e relativizada ao longo do tempo, com a manutenção da admissibilidade da formação no Curso Normal Médio/Magistério. Assim, as diretrizes atuais para a formação de professores para os anos iniciais do ensino fundamental são semelhantes àquelas presentes na LDB promulgada há mais de duas décadas.

Habilidades de interação social e o brincar de crianças com cegueira ou baixa visão em contexto escolar

O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar as habilidades de interação social e o brincar de crianças com cegueira ou baixa visão em contexto escolar, na percepção de seus respectivos professores da classe regular. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva, analítica e transversal realizada no período de abril a julho de 2019. Participaram 16 professoras que acompanhavam 18 crianças com cegueira ou baixa visão matriculadas em escolas da Rede Municipal de Ensino, nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental, da Região Metropolitana do Recife/PE. Foi utilizado o instrumento School Function Assessment para a coleta de dados. Para comparação dos percentuais dos níveis dos fatores avaliados foi aplicado o teste Qui-quadrado para comparação de proporção. Para avaliar o nível de auxílio demandado pelos alunos foram calculadas as estatísticas medianas e amplitude interquartil das tarefas avaliadas. Os resultados apresentaram que as crianças com cegueira ou baixa visão apresentaram maior dificuldade em desempenhar atividades lúdicas. Quanto à participação social, observou-se que as mesmas crianças desenvolveram habilidades de interação social básicas e suficientes para o convívio em ambiente escolar. A comparação das tarefas de interação social e o brincar identificou, de acordo com a percepção dos professores, que o desempenho no brincar está mais prejudicado nas crianças com deficiência visual, bem como necessita de maiores adaptações e assistência.

A oficina pedagógica como possibilidade para ensinar Geografia nos anos iniciais: um olhar para o lugar

Ao considerar a importância da Geografia escolar e da centralidade do conceito de lugar no ensino de Geografia para os anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental apresentamos uma proposta de desenvolvimento de uma oficina pedagógica como possibilidade para trabalhar com este conceito nesta etapa da Educação Básica. Nesse sentido, a partir de um levantamento teórico, abordamos a importância do ensino de Geografia nos anos iniciais e o desenvolvimento das oficinas pedagógicas como possibilidade para ensinar Geografia com o intuito de incentivar práticas pedagógicas que permitam ao estudante construir o conhecimento geográfico e junto a isso perceber e analisar sua realidade de forma crítica. Com isso, destacamos que a proposta de oficina pedagógica sugerida pode ser uma ferramenta de aprendizagem relevante que busca promover a articulação entre o conhecimento teórico e o desenvolvimento prático do que foi estudado na teoria. Ao desenvolvê-la, levando em consideração a realidade do estudante, o docente propicia um processo de ensino cuja a aprendizagem pode ser mais efetiva e significativa para o estudante.

Imaginary formations of teachers in the initial years of elementary education on physics and their teaching in a continued training program

We present here part of outcomes of research that was carried out in a public school, through a partnership with the university which was willing to advise teachers in the initial years of elementary education, acting in the first and second cycles, in matters related to the teaching of Sciences, particularly Physics. The design of the program was determined by the “imaginary formations” presented by the teachers during an Initial Focus Group (IFG), which permitted to ascertain teacher training needs, their conceptions and desires related to Physics and Science Teaching. The study is grounded on theoretical-methodological references in French Discourse Analysis. The main imaginary formations detected with regard to Science Teaching in the context of the course were: “experiments draw student attention and break the routine of the ordinary classes”; “Themes in Science related to the Universe are attractive for the student”; “The advice of a specialist in the area has helped a lot”; “Unlike a lecture given when a specialist shows up at school.” In addition, the IFG allowed us to verify imaginary formations present in the teachers’ discourses, full of discrepancies between what the Curriculum of Sciences proposes in the initial and final cycles of the early years of elementary education in the State of Minas Gerais, and how teachers understand that curriculum for the preparation of lesson plans. Regarding the “imaginary formations” of teachers related to science, we found at the beginning and at the end of the program that aspects of an empirical-inductive vision prevailed (the role of observation and experimentation are highlighted), a rigid view of scientific activities and the scientific method is considered as a set of steps to be followed). And we understand that there were signs of “imaginary formations” of science as the work of geniuses, but scientists do not have to live “in isolation” from the world, for they are ordinary people, like teachers, and research phenomena that do not necessarily have to be investigated in the laboratory. In addition, we have realized at the end of the process that the teachers in the sample show that there is evidence of a constant reconstruction of Science.

Percepções de estudantes de um curso de pedagogia sobre a problemática ambiental e o fazer pedagógico: uma análise a partir da Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados

A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo investigar as percepções de licenciandas em Pedagogia acerca da problemática ambiental, bem como sua relação com o fazer pedagógico. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de uma atividade proposta às acadêmicas, quando, com base em um trecho da música “Passarinhos” (Emicida) e em duas charges contendo críticas às ações do homem em relação ao meio ambiente, elas puderam escrever um texto crítico reflexivo sobre o assunto abordado. Os resultados foram analisados à luz da Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados (TFD) e apontaram que as acadêmicas compreendem que os problemas ambientais são causados pelas ações humanas, que tais problemas causam malefícios à fauna e à flora (que elas consideram meio ambiente) e à saúde das pessoas, e que acontecimentos recentes como o rompimento da barragem de mineração em Brumadinho-MG e as queimadas na Amazônia são assuntos que alertam e promovem reflexão acerca das ações antrópicas. Também, as participantes da pesquisa consideram que as crianças são a esperança de um mundo mais saudável ecologicamente e que assuntos como as problemáticas ambientais devem ser abordados desde os Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental, despertando nas crianças o senso crítico e transformador de atitudes que possam diminuir problemas ambientais futuros.

Mudanças de Estados físicos da água na natureza: uma prática docente interdisciplinar no ensino de ciências

O presente trabalho apresenta um relato de experiência vivenciado pela pesquisadora no contexto de sala de aula, com o objetivo de promover aos alunos o entendimento e a compreensão sobre o processo de mudanças de estados físicos da água, como o mesmo acontece e qual fator que influencia na transformação da matéria. Os participantes são alunos do 4º ano de escolaridade dos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental, na área de conhecimentos do Ensino de Ciências. O conteúdo estudado está relacionado às mudanças de estados físicos da água na natureza. A atividade proposta foi apresentada durante um bimestre letivo no período de atividade com uma turma, no período de atuação da pesquisadora em sala de aula, como uma sequência didática que foi iniciada a partir do livro didático, tendo sido apresentado o conteúdo aos alunos a partir das informações contidas no mesmo. A atividade foi proposta com a intenção de promover uma aula diversificada para o grupo de alunos e ao mesmo tempo a integração a partir do lúdico, visto que se tratava de uma turma que apresentava curiosidade e interesse por assuntos relacionados ao Ensino de Ciências. Como fundamentação teórica o referido texto está ancorado nos estudos de teóricos de Ivani Fazenda (2008) e Olga Pombo (2004) no tocante a interdisciplinaridade e a prática docente interdisciplinar. Entende-se a prática docente interdisciplinar como promoção de mudança em sala de aula, desta forma favorecendo a aprendizagem do aluno. Os saberes docentes de acordo com Mauricie Tardif (2002), em efetivo trabalho com o aluno em sala de aula, sendo o mediador do processo de ensino aprendizagem e socialização do aluno. Apresenta-se como resultado deste trabalho, uma maior participação dos alunos no contexto de sala de aula, e a aprendizagem dos mesmos. Concluímos com este trabalho que a interação entre o professor, como mediador, e o aluno como protagonista da sua aprendizagem são fatores essenciais para o desenvolvimento da aprendizagem, de forma lúdica, tendo a interação, a partir de um jogo, como estratégia para uma prática interdisciplinar.

SLEEP AND CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH: ROLE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND CARDIORESPIRATORY FITNESS

ABSTRACT Introduction: Sleep is considered an important health indicator and plays a key role in brain development and plasticity. Objective: To ascertain whether there is a relationship between sleep quality and mental health indicators and whether organized physical activity (PA) or cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) act as moderators of this association. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 226 students between six and 11 years of age, male and female, in the early years of elementary education at a public school in Porto Alegre, Brazil, which was selected for convenience. CRF was measured by running test and six-minute walk. Sleep quality and organized physical activity outside of school were verified through an anamnesis, socioeconomic status through an adaptation of the ABEP (Brazilian Association of Research Companies) questionnaire, and mental health indicators with the assistance of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, all answered by parents. Frequencies, means, standard deviations and generalized linear models were used for the data analysis, while a 95% confidence interval was used for the analyses. Results: Sleep quality was associated with total difficulties (β=7.659, p<0.001), emotional symptoms (β= 1.754; p=0.001), hyperactivity/inattentiveness (β=3.054, p <0.001), conduct problems (β=1.619, p<0.001) and peer relationship problems (β=1.231; p=0.007) in boys. In girls it was related to total difficulties (β=3.421; p=0.006), and conduct problems (β=1.235; p=0.003). However, the interactions were not significant. Conclusion: Although they occur independently, stress is placed on the importance of sleeping well, engaging in organized PA and having good CRF levels for the improvement and maintenance of mental health. O ensino de ciências e a formação continuada de professores alfabetizadores: reconhecendo o campo de pesquisa

O ensino de Ciências nos anos iniciais da Educação Básica apresenta campo de pesquisa importante no que tange à alfabetização científica para crianças nesse segmento do ensino. Primeiro, pela curiosidade típica da faixa etária, e, depois, pela necessidade da construção de perfis de cidadãos reflexivos e críticos dos seus contextos vividos. Porém, pelas exigências quanto à apropriação da leitura e da escrita, dentre outros fatores, pouco se dá a devida atenção à construção de conhecimentos sobre ciência, principalmente, nos três primeiros anos do Ensino Fundamental (EF), período de transição entre a Educação Infantil e o EF. Na perspectiva de valorização do ensino de Ciências durante a alfabetização, este trabalho objetivou identificar e analisar pesquisas, teses e dissertações, que discutem a educação continuada de professores alfabetizadores como mediadores do conhecimento científico no Ciclo de Alfabetização. Para o levantamento, foi utilizado o Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes), delimitado o período de 2007 a 2018. Foram recuperados 73 trabalhos, dos quais, 31 tratavam da formação continuada de professores dos anos iniciais, focada no ensino de Ciências, demonstrando aumento do número de pesquisas que apresentam esse interesse. Porém, desse total, foram identificadas apenas 03 dissertações de mestrado que se dedicaram à formação continuada de professores alfabetizadores, indicando a necessidade da realização de pesquisas que possam colaborar com novos direcionamentos da alfabetização científica mediada pelo professor que ensina a ler e escrever.

The development of children's epistemic beliefs across the early years of elementary school.

A growing body of research shows that the beliefs we hold about the nature of knowing and knowledge (epistemic beliefs) may mediate moral reasoning. However, a limitation of much of the research in the area of epistemic beliefs is the lack of a longitudinal approach. The study investigated longitudinal changes in Australian elementary school children's beliefs about knowing and knowledge (epistemic beliefs) across three judgement domains (personal taste, ambiguous facts, and moral values). The participants in this longitudinal study were tracked from Year 1 through to Year 3 of primary school. In Year 1, there were 169 participants (83 boys, 86 girls) aged 6-7years (M=6.7, SD=0.32). In Year 2, there were 156 participants (79 boys, 77 girls), and in Year 3, there were 129 participants (65 boys, 64 girls). Using vignettes that reflected each of the three judgement domains, childrenwere interviewed about the beliefs held by two puppet characters. The interviews took place each year across the early years of elementary education in Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3. Findings revealed that children's epistemic beliefs in each of the judgement domains became more subjectivist over time but that the age at which this occurred differed according to the judgement domain in question. We argue that it is important for teachers to pay attention to children's beliefs about the nature of knowledge and knowing in the process of scaffolding their reasoning about moral values for active citizenship.

Magistério: que lugar é esse?

A formação de professores para a Educação Infantil e anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental tinha como lócus para acontecer no nível médio. Em 1996, com a promulgação da LDB n. 9.394, essa modalidade de formação docente foi imersa em um ambíguo contexto. Ao mesmo tempo que a legislação prevê a formação docente em nível superior, o curso de Magistério permanece em funcionamento, e, assim, professores que se formam neste continuam sendo contratados. Este artigo foi elaborado a partir de uma pesquisa documental, a qual teve por objetivo analisar a política de formação dos professores. Os objetivos específicos foram contextualizar a formação de professores em nível médio no Brasil, além disso, discutir a política de formação de professores a partir da metodologia de análise Abordagem do Ciclo de Políticas proposta por Ball e seus colaboradores. A discussão está ancorada principalmente em Ball, Foucault, Mainardes, Tanuri, Villela e Schaffrath. Apesar de haver leis que apontam o nível superior como lócus privilegiado para a formação do professor, elas não significaram o fim da formação em nível médio. O mesmo sistema educacional que coloca em xeque a formação de professores em nível médio oferece essa formação e contrata os docentes formados por ela. A formação em nível médio e em nível superior coabitam no contexto da prática.

EDUCAÇÃO DE JOVENS E ADULTOS: ESCOLARIZAÇÃO EM ÁREAS DE REFORMA AGRÁRIA DO PARANÁ (ANOS INICIAIS) – RELATO DA EXPERIÊNCIA DE EXTENSÃO DA UNIOESTE

This article reports the experience of an outreach project from the State University of the West of Parana (UNIOSTE, in the Portuguese acronym). The aim of the project was to offer schooling opportunities in areas of agrarian reform in the state of Parana. The project aimed at organizing 60 classes from the early years of elementary education, with a minimum of 20 students per class making up 1.200 students. The students who successed would be certified and the pedagogical team would receive in service education. The 1.600 teaching hours were distributed over a period of two years and there was the use of three million reais. The curriculum included all areas of knowledge. As outcomes, we can highlight the certification of 370 illiterate youth and adults in addition to 400 people who learned to read and write.
