The development of railway transport is accompanied by the introduction of innovative equipment and modern information technologies. The creation of railway rolling stock and rail machinery requires an assessment of their strength and dynamic qualities even at the stage of design and experimental production, therefore, the development of specialized software for evaluating the main parameters of the rolling stock structures being created is an urgent scientific and applied problem for railway transport and transport engineering. Theoretical studies of spatial fluctuations of certain types of railway rolling stock were performed and recommendations were obtained for the formation of parameters of the structures of freight cars and special rolling stock. When conducting theoretical research, the author's DYNRAIL-PRO software complex was used, which was verified and the reliability of the calculation results was proven.

High-Speed Train Running Characteristics Assessments Using Multibody Dynamics Simulation

The development of railway transportation in Indonesia in recent years has increased the number of new vehicles with various types and specifications. These new vehicles should pass a series of running characteristics assessments against standards to ensure safety and comfort in operation. Before the field testing, the assessments using numerical simulation in the design stage need to be done. This study aims to assess the high-speed train running characteristics through modeling and testing using multibody dynamics simulation software. The standards used for the assessments refer to EN 14363 – Testing and Simulation for The Acceptance of Running Characteristics of Railway Vehicles. The high-speed train model was built and validated through four methods with comparative values calculated analytically. The validated model was then run in the simulation to get the parameters for assessment. The parameters include the coefficient of flexibility, critical speed, safety against derailment with various methods, ride comfort, and vibration mode. The parameters obtained from the simulation are compared to the acceptance criteria specified in the standard. The results show that the vehicle performance fulfills the requirement prescribed by EN 14363 standard. After the vehicle and the track infrastructure are ready, they need to be confirmed by a series of testing performed on the main line. This study supports the development of high-speed trains in Indonesia and is expected to give more insight into the usefulness of numerical simulation to predict the characteristic of dynamic performances of railway vehicles in actual operating conditions.

Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA) as example of international economic cooperation between the USSR and countries of “people's democracy” in the field of development of railway transport

in the context of the formation of a bipolar system of international relations in the mid-1940s. One of the most important aspects is economic cooperation between allies in the new realities. In response to the Marshall Plan adopted by the United States, the USSR is taking steps to create its own economic unification based on cooperation between countries in the socialist bloc. The article is devoted to the history of interstate interaction within the framework of the activities of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance. Our work will highlight one aspect of this issue – cooperation in the field of railway transport. The purpose of the work is to identify examples of international cooperation between the USSR and the countries of “people's democracy” within the framework of CMEA in the field of railway transport. Research objectives: 1. To trace the history of the emergence of CMEA. 2. Identify the countries of the socialist bloc that collaborated with the USSR in the field of railway transport. 3. Identify the rolling stock of people's democracies that have been operating in the CIS countries to date. Despite the centrifugal tendencies, the collapse of the USSR, the socialist bloc and the actual dissolution of the CMEA, this organization left a significant mark that can be seen on the railways of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States up to the present day. в условиях формирования биполярной системы международных отношений в середине 1940-х гг. одним из важнейших аспектов является экономическая кооперация между союзниками в новых реалиях. В ответ на принятый США план Маршала СССР предпринимает шаги по созданию собственного экономического объединения, основанного на кооперации между странами по социалистическому блоку. Статья посвящена истории межгосударственного взаимодействия в рамках деятельности Совета Экономической Взаимопомощи. В нашей работе будет освящён один из аспектов данного вопроса – сотрудничество в сфере железнодорожного транспорта. Цель работы – выявление примеров международной кооперации СССР и стран «народной демократии» в рамках СЭВ в сфере железнодорожного транспорта. Задачи исследования: 1. Проследить историю появления СЭВ. 2. Выявить страны социалистического блока, сотрудничавшие с СССР в сфере железнодорожного транспорта. 3. Выделить подвижной состав стран народной демократии, эксплуатирующийся на территории стран СНГ до настоящего момента. Несмотря на центробежные тенденции, распад СССР, социалистического блока и фактический роспуск СЭВ, данная организация оставила весомый след, который можно увидеть на железных дорогах стран Содружества Независимых Государств вплоть до настоящего момента.

Research Into the Concept of Long-term Tariff Regulation for Freight Rail Transportation in Modern Conditions

Russian Railways JSC faces unresolved problems in the field of pricing and tariff regulation. The current regulatory framework for determining tariffs was established in 2003. Over the past 20 years, significant changes have occurred in Price List 10-01, which was periodically adapted to the current conditions of the freight transportation market by introducing additional coefficients, and almost all possibilities for adjusting it have been exhausted. The Government of the Russian Federation has given instructions to departments to develop a new Price List by January 1, 2026. It is necessary to improve the tariff policy, adapted to the conditions of a market economy, in accordance with the Reform Program of Russian Railways JSC adopted by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Strategy for the Development of Railway Transport in the Russian Federation until 2030. Existing problems in the field of pricing and directions for further development are considered.

Kolomenskij mashinostroitel'nyj zavod: deyatel'nost' predpriyatiya v 1900–1914 gg.

The article reveals the contribution of the Kolomna Machine-Building Plant to the development of domestic railway and water transport in 1900-1914. Authors analyze the data on the production of mainline freight, passenger and narrow-gauge steam locomotives, medium-speed piston engines, motor ships, trams and some other important products of the enterprise, attempt to show the role of the Kolomna Machine-Building Plant in the industrialization of the Russian Empire.

STATE REGULATION OF RAILWAY FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN: ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT STATE AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS

The purpose of the article is to develop theoretical and practical recommendations on improving the use of the development potential of the railway sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan, studying regulatory measures by the country and determining their development prospects.The methodology of this article was theoretical and empirical research methods: analysis of the state of the country's railway complex, its problems and ways to solve them, as well as the study of the railway transportation process and its regulation. Analysis of literature on the research problem, comparison and systematization of empirical and theoretical data, systemic approach to the studied problems of the article, method of qualitative comparison, statistical method.Originality/value of the research: Railway transport is one of the basic sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan, providing its internal and external transport and economic relations, and the transportation needs of the population, therefore it is important to improve the development strategy of the country's railway transport at the Government level. The state will be able to optimize the railway transport sector by obtaining useful information as a result of this article.Conclusion: In order to successfully develop the railway transport market in Kazakhstan, the state must play a more active role as a strategic consultant, which will take on issues of long-term planning, forecasting, analysis and preparation of recommendations to market participants. In this regard, we believe that Kazakhstan needs a separate program for the development of railway transport.

Possibility of Monitoring the Dynamic Impact of the Rolling Stock on the Track Superstructure Using Strain Gauges and Vibrometry

One of the priority tasks in development of railway transport is to raise its efficiency by increasing the time between repairs for both the track superstructure and the rolling stock. Solving this problem is impossible without timely, complete, and reliable information about the dynamics of interaction of the rolling stock with the infrastructure. To organise monitoring of dynamic processes, completely different types of primary transducers are used: resistance strain gauges, fibre-optic sensors, dynamometers (force sensor pads), accelerometers, acoustic emission sensors. This implies relevance of the scientific and technical problem of comparative testing of sensors of different types to assess the information content of their signals and justify the criteria for choosing primary transducers when solving specific monitoring problems.The objective of the study is to comparatively test removable resistive strain sensors, optical polarisation strain sensors and accelerometers under a passing train and to evaluate their information content to control rail depression and detect defects on the running surface of wagon wheels.The study using finite element modelling and a physical model of a rail as of a beam on an elastic foundation, substantiates the relationship between longitudinal deformations and vertical accelerations of the rail foot. Comparative tests of removable strain-resistive and optical polarisation strain sensors and accelerometers were held on an experimental section of track under a passing train. A signal processing algorithm has been developed and the equivalence of strain gauges and vibrometers for determining the depression of a rail under a passing train has been proven. Acomparison has been made of the pulse components of the signals of deformation and vibration acceleration during movement of a wheel with a defect on the running surface, and the requirements for the frequency characteristics of the sensors and their mounting on the rail surface have been substantiated.

ФАКТОРИ ЗАГОСТРЕННЯ КОНКУРЕНЦІЇ ДЛЯ РОЗРОБКИ КОНКУРЕНТНОЇ СТРАТЕГІЇ ПАСАЖИРСЬКОЇ СТАНЦІЇ

The article analyzes the factors of aggravation of the station's competition and the priority tasks that need to be solved in a particular situation, since their ignorance leads to the loss of positions in the transport services market. The role of passenger transportation management and its improvement for the future is determined. Recent studies on assessing competitiveness and developing a competitive strategy for an enterprise, namely a passenger station, are analyzed. It is noted that managerial decisions should be based on the use of marketing information, which will allow to maintain a leading position in the market of transport services. These include limitation of the range of consumers of transport services (due to an increase in transportation tariffs and prices for services), limited opportunities to sell their services, limited resources and complications associated with geographical boundaries. It is noted that a transportation service is not just transportation, but a comprehensive transportation service, i.e., a process of consistent and well-coordinated operations carried out taking into account individual customer requirements. It is determined that railway transport is the main artery in the road transport complex of Ukraine. The article considers measures aimed at improving the quality and availability of passenger services at railway stations and in trains, where the management of the passenger service complex has been transferred to the national system "Express-UZ", which provides end-to-end automation of all processes of integrated passenger service. It is highlighted that for the development of the railway industry there is a need to introduce effective organizational structures that ensure the further development of railway transport and meet the specific requirements of the transport market. It is determined that in order to increase the competitiveness of the station, innovative commercial strategies should be developed that would better meet the demand of passengers and the capabilities of the modern economy, as well as measures to further improve safety, reduce noise, reduce energy consumption, avoid pollution and eliminate all adverse factors that hinder the development of railway transport.

Determination of the appropriate option for the use of group trains

One of the target areas for the development of railway transport in modern conditions is to ensure the fulfillment of operational performance indicators that depend on the organization of the promotion of car flows. When determining the procedure for organizing car flows on the railway network, it is advisable to consider the existing features of the technical and operational characteristics of railway stations and sections, as well as the technology of their operation. The paper describes the procedure for determining the appropriate option for using group trains based on minimizing the costs that arise when organizing car flows into trains and their movement along the section.

To the 145th anniversary of the branch of the Rostov State Transport University in Voronezh

This year is the 145th anniversary of the oldest educational institution, founded in 1878 as a railway college in the city of Voronezh. Over the long period of its existence it has undergone several reorganisations and today it is a part of the Rostov State Transport University (RSTU). For almost one and a half hundred years, qualifi ed specialists have been educated here, contributing to the functioning and development of railway transport in Russia.The article is based on the study of archival documents and periodicals concerning the history of the emergence and development of the branch of RSTU in Voronezh. The analysis of materials made it possible to restore the chronology of the history of the educational institution in the context of the main milestones in the development of railway transport from the second half of the 19th century to the present day. The documents obtained from state archives were systematised. For the first time the work with archival documents was carried out to reveal the history of formation and development of educational institutions of the railway industry. The main stages of organisation of the educational institution are defined: its reorganisation in 1922 into a technical school, then into a college and fi nally into a branch of the RSTU in Voronezh. The issues of the role and signifi cance of the educational institution in the life of the city, the region and the country as a whole are considered. The main historical epochs in the life of the educational institution are revealed: the pre-revolutionary stage of development, formation in the pre-war period, the years of The Great Patriotic War and the modern period.

Two centuries of Russian railway history

The history of the creation of one of the oldest scientifi c and technical museums in the world — the Central Museum of Railway Transport, which is 210 years old — is considered.The Central Museum of Railway Transport collection began with models made under the leadership of Augustine de Betancourt, the founder and first inspector (rector) of the Institute of the Corps of Railway Engineers, chief director of railways, and the founder of engineering in Russia. These include models of spiers used in the construction of St. Isaac’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg, the Manege in Moscow, the pontoon of a floating bridge across the Oka River in Nizhny Novgorod, etc. This is the only collection that has survived in the world to this day, reflecting the developments of an outstanding scientist. Using the museum’s stock materials, one can trace all the main stages of the development of railway transport in Russia: from the opening in 1837 of the Tsarskoye Selo Railway, the first public railway in Russia, to the achievements of modern railway transport. Today, the Center for Railway Transport of the Russian Federation is the only state museum of the industry. The museum’s collections contain more than 70 thousand items refl ecting the history of the development of Russian railways over the entire period of their existence. The large-scale exhibition “Gallery of the Heads of the Department of Railways for 225 Years” is dedicated to the festive date, which displays the only collection of portraits in Russia of all the heads of the Department of Transport.

FORMATION OF A SYSTEM APPROACH TO ORGANIZING CARGO DELIVERY BY RAILWAY COMPANIES-CARRIER REGIONAL TYPE

Purpose. The introduction of private freight railway carrier companies in Ukraine corresponds to the European trend of demonopolization of railway transport and has a number of consequences, including the creation of a market pricing mechanism and the formation of prerequisites for improving the quality of services in railway transport. In order to ensure the economic development of the railway industry, an integrated approach is required, which includes reviewing and improving the tariff policy regarding the access of private regional railway carrier companies to the railway infrastructure of joint-stock company (JSC) «Ukrzaliznytsia» and providing non-discriminatory access to the railway infrastructure for other transportation participants. This will ensure equal conditions for competition and will contribute to the development of railway transport in Ukraine. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to achieve the effective functioning of a cargo delivery system for regional railway carrier companies when it is implemented on the Ukrainian railway network. To achieve this goal, a functional description of the specified system is used and its parameters are optimized. Methods. To formalize the system of cargo delivery by a regional railway carrier company, used methods of systems theory. The results. The research carried out made it possible to formalize the system of cargo delivery through a regional railway carrier company. In the process of formulating the functional description of the system, various factors affecting the carrier company's costs were taken into account. When analyzing these factors, it was found that the key parameters of the system that have a significant impact on the costs and cost of transporting goods are the serial number of the cargo delivery route, the number of stops on the route, the duration of train downtime at the railway stations of the carrier company's branches while waiting for shunting operations to be performed (attaching groups of wagons). The goal of optimizing these parameters is to increase the efficiency of the system and reduce the cost of transporting goods for individual clients. Practical significance. Subject to the adoption in Ukraine of an appropriate legislative framework that will regulate access to the railway infrastructure of JSC «Ukrzaliznytsia» for private carriers, the implementation of the proposed system will have such positive consequences as increasing the level of competition in the transport market in Ukraine, improving the quality and reliability of transportation and growth Country's GDP. Setting the optimal balance between route numbers, the number of stops and the duration of train downtime will ensure optimal use of the carrier company's resources and reduce the cost of transporting goods. This will help improve the quality of service and meet customer needs.

Улучшение тягово-энергетических характеристик автономных локомотивов за счет применения модульного исполнения элементов тяговой системы

Purpose: The priority direction of strategic programs for the development of railway transport is the design and introduction into operation of new rolling stock, which is characterized by high technical and economic indicators. In this regard, the goal is to formulate scientifically based technical solutions to reduce the costs of production, maintenance and repair of traction rolling stock and improve its traction and energy characteristics. Methods: To achieve the stated goal, the following methods have been applied: structural analysis; statistical processing of large arrays of experimental data; computer simulation; theory of locomotive traction. Results: Priority directions for improving traction rolling stock have been identified. A set of scientifically based technical solutions has been developed to improve the traction and energy characteristics of selfcontained locomotives, which may allow the transition to a single platform for diesel and electric locomotives. As a result, the reduction in costs for the production, maintenance and repair of traction rolling stock and an improvement in the traction and energy characteristics of locomotives will be achieved. Practical significance: Economic effect obtained due to reducing the costs of production, maintenance and repair of traction rolling stock and the consumption of fuel and energy resources for train traction.

Моделирование технического обслуживания и ремонта высокоскоростных электропоездов с использованием данных бортовых систем диагностики

Purpose: High–speed railway lines (HSRL) are the most promising direction of railway transport development in the 21st century, increasing the mobility of the population at a distance of up to 1000 km, contributing to the development of urban conglomerations. Reliable rolling stock is necessary for the functioning of the HSRL. The article describes the performed mathematical simulation of the operation and maintenance and repair system (MRS) of high-speed electric trains in relation to the St. Petersburg — Moscow landfill. The purpose of the simulation is to substantiate the requirements for MRS, including when using on-board automated systems for technical diagnostics. Methods: It is based on the principles of passenger traffic organization, technical requirements for domestic high-speed rolling stock, queue theory methods, as well as probabilistic mathematical modeling methods in MS Excel in the algorithmic language Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The corresponding software has been developed. Results: A mathematical model and software have been developed, multifactor modeling has been performed, the degree of failure impact on the required fleet of high-speed electric trains has been determined. Methods of optimization of maintenance to reduce the required fleet are proposed. The requirements for the mathematical model itself are defined. A factor analysis of operation and maintenance has been performed by mathematical modeling. Practical significance: The guarantee of safe and reliable high-speed traffic is the creation of a modern system of maintenance and repair of rolling stock. The study of the interaction of operation and maintenance is very important in preparation for the launch of domestic high-speed traffic.

WAYS TO STABILIZE THE CONDITION OF THE TRANSPORTATION OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN THE CONDITIONS OF LARGE-SCALE RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

The issue of transportation of agricultural products from the producer to the buyer is important for our country. Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine emphasized the extreme importance of the transport complex for the economy and society. With the beginning of invasion of Ukrainian land, air communication with the world was completely stopped, and sea ports were also blocked. With the beginning of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the routes of transportation of agricultural products were disrupted, a large number of elevators were destroyed, the road surface of warehouses was destroyed, and sea ports were seized. The purpose of this article was to study the current state of freight transportation in the conditions of martial law, to improve and stabilize the ways of transporting agricultural products. The task was to find ways to improve logistics and ways to protect grain products from missile strikes, as well as possible ways to export this grain from the territory of Ukraine. The article presents the results of an analytical analysis of the state of transportation of agricultural products, suggests ways to stabilize and solve the problem. The development of logistics and cooperation with foreign partners, the construction of protected hubs for storing grain products, as well as the construction of modern elevators that could accumulate large volumes of products for their further transportation in large batches to consumers. The best option for Ukraine would be the creation of grain hubs in European countries, as well as transport grain by motor vehicle, accumulate grain in large batches, and deliver it to other parts of the world, through the ports of Europe. However, today it is not so easy, because currently European countries are imposing restrictions on the import of our grain products. Today, despite the difficult military situation, the lost part of the transport infrastructure and logistics, Ukraine is one of the largest grain exporting countries. The restoration of traditional ways of freight transportation and the constant search for new ones is a sign of a healthy and promising policy for the development of the transport industry. The European choice of our state, the support of partners will ensure uninterrupted freight transportation and will give new impetus to the development of river and railway transport.

Kolomenskij mashinostroitel'nyj zavod: sozdanie i deyatel'nost' v 1863–1900 gg.

The article examines the history of the creation and activity of the Kolomna Machine-Building Plant in 1863-1900. Information is provided on the construction of bridges across large rivers, the production of railway wagons for various purposes, mainline freight, passenger and narrow-gauge steam locomotives, steamships, trams and other products of the enterprise. The contribution of the Kolomna Plant to the development of domestic railway and water transport is shown.

Transportation and urban spatial structure: Evidence from Paris

This paper analyses the role of railroad development in employment subcentre formation in the Paris metropolitan area between 1968 and 2018. Over half a century, approximately 1.5 million new jobs were created; however, their spatial distribution across the Île-de-France region was uneven. Paris intramuros has lost 123,000 jobs for the 50-year period, while the Grande Couronne (outer periphery) accounted for 2/3 of employment growth. These dramatic changes in the geography of employment in the Paris metropolitan region were coupled with cardinal alterations in railroad transportation, whose network has expanded and whose branches have been intertwined in order to improve population mobility and, to some extent, decentralise the capital area in favour of the development of peripheral territories. The construction of the Réseau Express Régional (RER) on the basis of 19th century railroads together with formation of the Transilien network were stepping stones towards today’s efficient rapid transit system. Our investigation, using McMillen (2001) method to identify subcentres as well as the IV approach to determine the role of railway transport development in local employment growth and the evolution of urban spatial structures, corroborates the decisive role of RER in fostering employment and in the emergence of employment subcentres. Specifically, the proximity to a railway station boosts employment in the commune. For RER stations, this effect is more substantial and heterogeneous across space, being of greater magnitude for municipalities more distant from the CBD. Furthermore, the presence of a railway station in a commune increases its probability of being a (part of) subcentre from 19.3% to 41.3% depending on the period. Moreover, this effect is of greater magnitude for the presence of a RER station in a municipality (53.2%–76.1%). Interestingly, we cannot confirm that the influence of a railway station on subcentre formation spills over the edge of the commune where it is located.

Comparative Analysis of Buried Pipe Under Heavy Train Loads

With rapid development of railway transportation and increasing demand of oil and gas in China, the heavy haul train load becomes an important factor that threaten the safe operation of pipe. The mechanical behavior of buried pipe subjected to heavy haul train load was investigated in this study. A finite element model was established to investigate the effect of train load. Finally, the multiple train loads were also discussed. Results show that the high stress area occurs under the train track. In the pipe segment below the track, the top of pipe is under compression and the bottom of pipe is under tension. The cross section of pipe is still circular. The maximum vertical and horizontal displacement are at the top and side of pipe. The maximum von Mises stress, axial strain, and displacement of pipe increase with the increase of train load. Under the multiple train loads, there are two high stress and high strain areas at the top and bottom of pipe. With the increase of multiple train loads, the maximum von Mises stress, axial strain, displacement and ovality increase.

FORECASTING INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES OF RAIL TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES USING TREND MODELS

The object of the study is the investment activity of railway transport enterprises. The purpose of the work is to forecast the investment activity of railway transport enterprises by using economic-mathematical methods and models, namely trend models. The information base of the study is the data of the State Statistics Service and the Ministry of Finance. It has been proven that the transport industry is one of the important branches of the national economy, which provides a logistic connection from the transportation of passengers to the transportation of goods. On the basis of economic-mathematical models (one-dimensional trend forecasting methods), a conceptual scheme for building forecast values of investment activities of railway transport enterprises has been suggested, with the help of which it is possible not only to forecast capital investments but also to propose measures for their increase. The results of investment forecasting by funding sources are given (at the expense of state budget funds, local budget funds, own funds of enterprises and organizations, bank loans and other loans, funds of foreign investors, funds of domestic investment companies, funds, etc., public funds for housing construction, other funding sources). Investments are distinguished by types of economic activity: "Transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities". The received forecast values of investment activity have been interpreted. Measures to increase the investment activity of railway transport enterprises are proposed. The results of the study can form the basis of the formation of the state strategy for the regional development of the country and, separately, in the development of plans and recommendations for the development of railway transport enterprises at different levels of management.

Hazards correlation analysis of railway accidents: A real-world case study based on the decade-long UK railway accident data

With the continuous development and construction of railway transportation, the railway accidents occur frequently which greatly threatens the life safety of passengers and the further development of railway industry. Discussing and summarizing experience from past accidents is benefit to improve the safety of railway. This paper proposes a modeling method for the correlation analysis of hazards in railway accidents based on the knowledge graph theory. By describing the association between accidents and hazards in the knowledge graph network, the potential law of accident occurrence is revealed. The innovation of this study is that it considers the correlations between hazards. In addition, the hazards are further refined, and new topology indexes that adapt to the heterogeneous structure characteristics of knowledge graph are presented. Based on actual railway accident data in the UK, a number of key hazards have been identified using the methods proposed in this paper. The experimental results show that by controlling key hazards one by one, the harmful consequence caused by hazards to accidents is also continuously decreasing. Finally, based on the experimental exploration of the correlation between key hazards, corresponding preventive measures were developed. The method based on knowledge graph is expected to be applied to explore the relationship between hazards in railway accidents and provide additional decision-making information for the prevention of railway accidents.
