Abstract A new design method is proposed that uses structural features of the controlled system to simplify the multivariable servo system design procedure. This method can be used on a class of m-input, m-output systems with minimal phase interacting parts. The stability, the steady-state characteristics, the reference input response and the disturbance response of the resultant feedback control system are analysed.
