The Impact of Creativity on Primary, Secondary, and University Education in a Knowledge-Based Society

Due to the unfolding of the third technological revolution and the development of a knowledge-based society, there is an increasing demand for knowledge, particularly driven by the need for innovation. This has elevated the requirement for creativity, which, for the foundation of society, is reflected in education. The theme of this paper is the manifestation of creativity, innovative ability, and innovative thinking in the field of education, along with recommendations for promoting their development. Through literature research, the author aims to understand the impact of creativity on education at different stages and address the lack of creativity among young people by suggesting improvements to the educational model. After some kind of research, the result is that creativity will have different influences among ages. In primary school, teachers should pay more attention to their imagination; in terms of secondary school, teachers need to focus on students’ hands-on ability; as for the college students, teachers ought to encourage them to innovate. So, in order to advance their creative ability to prepare a knowledge-based society in the future, the author also gives some scientific suggestions.

EMBRACING DIGITALIZATION: TRANSFORMING EDUCATION FOR THE 5.0 ERA

In the evolution of time, humans continue to develop and adapt to their environment during that period. Throughout this evolutionary process, humans constantly create innovations to enhance their effectiveness and ease of living. One of the tools used by humans in this process of adaptation and change is technology. Technology brings convenience and efficiency to human life. The development of the digital world progresses dynamically, and its influence on society's lifestyle cannot be ignored. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the importance of digitization in education in facing the changes from the 4.0 revolution towards 5.0. This research employs qualitative descriptive research with a literature review method. Data collection techniques utilize Content Analysis obtained from various sources including scientific articles, government documents, mass media, books, and others deemed relevant to this study, which are then analyzed using policy research. The research findings indicate that the digitization of education in schools is important to meet several needs, including increasing the demand for knowledge, improving the quality of student learning, strengthening students' four abilities: creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration, as well as supporting the government's "independent learning" program, which is not limited by space and time. The digitization of school education can be used as a tool to support virtual learning without diminishing the essence of delivering learning materials, through online platforms that can be used flexibly.

Research alignment in the U.S. national park system: Impact of transformative science policy on the supply and demand for scientific knowledge for protected area management

The US National Park System encompasses diverse environmental and tourism management regimes, together governed by the 1916 Organic Act and its dual mandate of conservation and provision of public enjoyment. However, with the introduction of transformative science policy in the 2000's, the mission scope has since expanded to promote overarching science-based objectives. Yet despite this paradigm shift instituting “science for parks, parks for science”, there is scant research exploring the impact of the National Park Science Policy on the provision of knowledge. We address this gap by developing a spatiotemporal framework for evaluating research alignment, here operationalized via quantifiable measures of supply and demand for scientific knowledge. Specifically, we apply a machine learning algorithm (Latent Dirichlet analysis) to a comprehensive park-specific text corpus (combining official needs statements -i.e. demand- and scientific research metadata -i.e. supply-) to define a joint topic space, which thereby facilitates quantifying the direction and degree of alignment at multiple levels. Results indicate an overall robust degree of research alignment, with misaligned topics tending to be over-researched (as opposed to over-demanded), which may be favorable to many parks, but is inefficient from the park system perspective. Results further indicate that the transformative science policy exacerbated the misalignment in mandated research domains. In light of these results, we argue for improved decision support mechanisms to achieve more timely alignment of research efforts towards distinctive park needs, thereby fostering convergent knowledge co-production and leveraging the full value of National Parks as living laboratories.

Collaborative Learning across Heterogeneous Systems with Pre-Trained Models

The increasingly decentralized and private nature of data in our digital society has motivated the development of personalized, collaborative intelligent systems that enable knowledge aggregation across multiple data owners while accommodating for their data privacy and system constraints. However, collaborative learning has only been investigated in simple and limited settings: isolated task scenarios where learning begins from scratch and does not build on prior expertise; learned model is represented in task-specific forms which are not generalizable to unseen, emerging scenarios; and more often, a universal model representation is assumed across collaborators, ignoring their local compute constraints or input representations. This restricts its practicality in continual learning scenarios with limited task data, which demand continuous adaptation and knowledge transfer across different information silos, tasks, and learning models, as well as the utilization of prior solution expertises. To overcome these limitations, my research has been focused on developing effective and scalable resource-aware collaborative learning frameworks across heterogeneous systems.

Advancing Urban Life: A Systematic Review of Emerging Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Urban Design and Planning

The advancement of cutting-edge technologies significantly transforms urban lifestyles and is indispensable in sustainable urban design and planning. This systematic review focuses on the critical role of innovative technologies and digitalization, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in urban planning through geo-design, aiming to enhance urban life. It begins with exploring the importance of AI and digital tools in revolutionizing contemporary urban planning practices. Through the methodology based on the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol, this review sifts through relevant literature over the past two decades by categorizing artificial intelligence technologies based on their functionalities. These technologies are examined for their utility in urban planning, environmental modeling, and infrastructure development, highlighting how they contribute to creating smarter and more livable cities. For instance, machine learning techniques like supervised learning excel in forecasting urban trends, whereas artificial neural networks and deep learning are superior in pattern recognition and vital for environmental modeling. This analysis, which refers to the comprehensive evaluation conducted in this Systematic Review, encompasses studies based on diverse data inputs and domains of application, revealing a trend toward leveraging AI for predictive analytics, decision-making improvements, and the automation of complex geospatial tasks in urban areas. The paper also addresses the challenges encountered, including data privacy, ethical issues, and the demand for cross-disciplinary knowledge. The concluding remarks emphasize the transformative potential of innovative technologies and digitalization in urban planning, advocating for their role in fostering better urban life. It also identifies future research avenues and development opportunities. In light of our review findings, this study concludes that AI technologies indeed hold transformative promise for the field of geo-design and urban planning. They have proven instrumental in advancing predictive analytics, refining decision-making, and streamlining complex geospatial tasks. The AI’s capacity to process expansive datasets and improve urban planning accuracy has facilitated more sustainable urban development and enhanced the resilience of urban environments.

Middle-range theorising supporting and supported by action research: focusing on practitioner preparedness

Increased demand for actionable knowledge in operations- and supply chain management has fuelled the interest in collaborative, action-oriented research design as well as modes of theorising that generate adaptable and actionable frameworks. Whilst action research (AR) design as well as middle-range theories (MRT) offer guiding principles herein, they are researcher centric in nature. It is taken for granted that practitioners that enter such an endeavour have a certain level of knowledge or experience prior to the initial stages of formalising the research problem. Practitioners in non-academic, operations management-intensive industries or craftsmanship-based industries, such as construction or carpeting (often in the SME range) are often neither prepared nor equipped with the principles necessary to convey their managerial challenges into collaborative research design. This risk limiting or even hindering altogether such participation. This paper elaborates on combining the logic of AR and MRT. By conceptualising a preparatory phase for initiating practitioner engagement, complementing the conventional AR cycle, a four-step approach is presented: (1) Identifying a joint interest; (2) Teaching – Awakening interest in the topic through MRT frameworks; (3) Accepting buy-in to the AR cycle and determining the problem; and (4) Proposing MRT frameworks for analysis and entering the traditional AR cycle.

INSPIRE: Seven strategies for ending violence against children—exploring knowledge uptake, use and impact

Levels of violence against children remain high worldwide. A focused commitment in the child protection sector and from health and development agencies worldwide has delivered impressive baseline metrics on the scope of and trends for violence against children. Alongside this data, agreement around global guidelines—INSPIRE: Seven strategies for Ending Violence Against Children—and a host of related practice, learning and advocacy products has ensured a steady supply of knowledge to the field. As a result, high level political awareness for the prevention of violence against children (VAC) grows, yet full scale endorsement for the implementation of evidence-based strategies still falls short. A brief history of how the INSPIRE global guidelines were incubated, developed, and disseminated worldwide helps assess how knowledge is positioned, generated, and analysed. A call for reflecting on how to balance the supply and demand of INSPIRE knowledge for the field is forwarded. This review of progress made, and the challenges ahead, is timely as INSPIRE undergoes revisions just short of the 2030 SDG deadline.

Pilot Study to Evaluate the Feasibility of a Patient Questionnaire for the Purpose of Investigating the Extent of Purchasing Antibiotics without a Prescription in a Rural Province in South Africa: Rationale and Implications

Abstract Introduction: There are concerns with rising rates of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across countries with appreciable impact on morbidity, mortality and costs. Amongst low- and middle-income countries, a key driver of AMR is the excessive use of antibiotics in ambulatory care, with a critical area being the appreciable selling of antibiotics without a prescription often driven by patient demand and limited knowledge. There is currently conflicting evidence in South Africa regarding this practice. Consequently, there is a need to explore these critical issues amongst patients, especially in more rural areas of South Africa. A pilot study was undertaken to address this. Methods: A two-step descriptive approach was undertaken. This involved two questionnaires amongst patients exiting chain and independent community pharmacies followed by cognitive interviews. Results: Overall, 21 patients were approached for an interview, including 11 for Part 1 of the questionnaire with 3 declining, and 10 for Part 2, with 2 declining. Subsequently 8 patients completed each part of the questionnaire. On average, it took 2 min 13 s to complete both parts. 3 of the 5 patients being dispensed an antibiotic were dispensed one without a prescription, with all 3 patients exiting from independent pharmacies. Key reasons for self-purchasing included money and convenience. There was mixed knowledge regarding antibiotics and AMR amongst the 8 patients interviewed with Part 2. Overall, there was a satisfactory understanding of the Part 1 questions, although some modifications were suggested. Some participants had difficulty with fully understanding the questions in Part 2, with a number of suggestions made to improve this for the main study. Conclusion: There were concerns with the extent of purchasing antibiotics without a prescription in this pilot study as well as the knowledge of patients regarding antibiotics and AMR. Both areas need addressing and will be explored further in the main study.

Customer contagion effects of voluntary environmental regulation: A supplier green innovation perspective

Prior studies primarily focused on internal green innovation and environmental performance concerning voluntary environmental regulations. Little attention has been given to the impact of partner-imposed regulations, such as those by customers, on green innovation in supplier firms. This research explores the influence of customer-driven voluntary environmental regulation on supplier green innovation and its mechanisms. The findings indicate that customer-driven voluntary environmental regulation leads to a positive contagion effect, significantly fostering supplier green innovation. Robustness is maintained through tests, including trend analysis, placebo tests, propensity score matching (PSM), and controls for spillover mechanisms and external influences. Demand feedback and knowledge spillover are identified as mediating mechanisms. Additionally, equity linkage and state ownership in suppliers facilitate customer-driven voluntary environmental regulation, further promoting green innovation. This study advances understanding in the context of supply chain green innovation.

Re-Engineering Nigerian Higher Education for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness

The study investigated re-engineering Nigerian higher education for sustainable development and global competitiveness. the study which adopted descriptive survey design was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses. The population of the study consisted of the three thousand, six hundred and twenty (3, 620) lecturers in the three public universities in Rivers State. A sample of seven hundred and twenty-four (724) lecturers comprising of 408 male and 316 female lecturers. The sample size drawn through stratified random sampling technique represented 20% of the population. Data for the study was collected with a questionnaire entitled “Re-engineering Nigerian higher education for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness Questionnaire (RENHESDGCQ)”. The instrument which contained 18 items was properly validated and the test of reliability yielded 0.80 through Cronbach Alpha Method. Mean, percentages, standard deviation and mean set were used to answer the research questions while z-test was used to analyse the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that the justifications for re-engineering Nigerian higher education for sustainable development and global competitiveness include among others the need to review higher education curriculum, address funding, infrastructural, and management issues. While the strategies that could be adopted for re-engineering higher education in Nigeria include among others reviewing of programmes and curriculum; internationalization of higher education; and addressing funding and other issues facing higher education in Nigeria. Based on the findings conclusion was drawn and the following recommendation was made among others: government should review academic programmes and curriculum of higher institutions in Nigeria in line with global demands for knowledge, skills and technology.

A Modular Framework for Domain-Specific Conversational Systems Powered by Never-Ending Learning

Complex and long interactions (e.g., a change of topic during a conversation) justify the use of dialog systems to develop task-oriented chatbots and intelligent virtual assistants. The development of dialog systems requires considerable effort and takes more time to deliver when compared to regular BotBuilder tools because of time-consuming tasks such as training machine learning models and low module reusability. We propose a framework for building scalable dialog systems for specific domains using the semi-automatic methods of corpus, ontology, and code development. By separating the dialog application logic from domain knowledge in the form of an ontology, we were able to create a dialog system for the banking domain in the Portuguese language and quickly change the domain of the conversation by changing the ontology. Moreover, by using the principles of never-ending learning, unsupported operations or unanswered questions create triggers for system knowledge demand that can be gathered from external sources and added to the ontology, augmenting the system’s ability to respond to more questions over time.

Proposed Business Strategy Improvement for Project Management Consulting Form (Study Case: PT ABC)

PT ABC is a service company in the field of project management, established in 2005. It operates with three main businesses: project management training, project management applications, and consultancy services. Project management is a crucial element for executing projects effectively within a company. In various industries, there is a growing demand for knowledge and consultation on how to manage projects efficiently, leading to the emergence of companies specializing in project management consultancy, such as PT ABC, to address these challenges. This research aims to uncover the root problems of the company to identify implementable solutions. Several analyses are employed in this study, including General Environment Analysis, Industry Analysis, and Competitor Analysis for external insights. For internal analysis, resources analysis, value chain analysis, marketing mix, and STP analysis are utilized. The study then progresses to map SWOT analysis and TOWS analysis. From these analyses, weaknesses and strengths of the company are identified, guiding the formulation of appropriate strategies to compete in the market. The research reveals that PT ABC possesses several strengths that have enabled the company to endure over time. Noteworthy strengths include its reputation and a skilled human resource pool in project management, garnering attention in the project management industry. Additionally, the company has a competitive advantage through technological innovation in its application, setting it apart from competitors and providing potential added value when maximized. However, there are areas for improvement, such as refining the application products and establishing a dedicated marketing team to focus on promoting all of PT ABC’s products rather than just one.

Online public concern about allergic rhinitis and its association with COVID-19 and air quality in China: an informative epidemiological study using Baidu index

BackgroundAllergic rhinitis is a common health concern that affects quality of life. This study aims to examine the online search trends of allergic rhinitis in China before and after the COVID-19 epidemic and to explore the association between the daily air quality and online search volumes of allergic rhinitis in Beijing.MethodsWe extracted the online search data of allergic rhinitis-related keywords from the Baidu index database from January 23, 2017 to June 23, 2022. We analyzed and compared the temporal distribution of online search behaviors across different themes of allergic rhinitis before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in mainland China, using the Baidu search index (BSI). We also obtained the air quality index (AQI) data in Beijing and assessed its correlation with daily BSIs of allergic rhinitis.ResultsThe online search for allergic rhinitis in China showed significant seasonal variations, with two peaks each year in spring from March to May and autumn from August and October. The BSI of total allergic rhinitis-related searches increased gradually from 2017 to 2019, reaching a peak in April 2019, and declined after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the first half of 2020. The BSI for all allergic rhinitis themes was significantly lower after the COVID-19 pandemic than before (all p values < 0.05). The results also revealed that, in Beijing, there was a significant negative association between daily BSI and AQI for each allergic rhinitis theme during the original variant strain epidemic period and a significant positive correlation during the Omicron variant period.ConclusionBoth air quality and the interventions used for COVID-19 pandemic, including national and local quarantines and mask wearing behaviors, may have affected the incidence and public concern about allergic rhinitis in China. The online search trends can serve as a valuable tool for tracking real-time public concerns about allergic rhinitis. By complementing traditional disease monitoring systems of health departments, these search trends can also offer insights into the patterns of disease outbreaks. Additionally, they can provide references and suggestions regarding the public’s knowledge demands related to allergic rhinitis, which can further be instrumental in developing targeted strategies to enhance population-based disease education on allergic diseases.

Identification of knowledge anxiety factors among researchers based on grounded theory

Based on a grounded theoretical analysis of interviews and open data, this study develops a model delineating the factors influencing Knowledge Anxiety, encompassing 5 primary categories and 20 subcategories. These categories encompass Academic Characteristics (knowledge quantity, knowledge quality, and knowledge content), Outer Environment (paid marketing, negative feedback, intense competition, and evaluation mechanism), and Cognitive Environment (work stress, scientific research funding, interpersonal relationships, Time limitation, and Cause difficult) which have been identified as external drivers influencing researchers' Knowledge Anxiety. Conversely, Ability Characteristics (scientific literacy, personality traits, English proficiency, and self-expectations) and Emotional Cognition (inertia thinking, negative self-concept, perceived risks, self-efficacy, and knowledge demand) have been recognized as internal drivers impacting researchers' Knowledge Anxiety. Findings reveal that external factors such as Academic Characteristics, Outer Environment, and Cognitive Environment directly impact researchers' susceptibility to Knowledge Anxiety. Internal factors, represented by Individual Competencies and Emotional Perception, also wield significant influence. Furthermore, external forces can affect Knowledge Anxiety either directly or indirectly by interfacing with internal determinants. This study underscores that researchers' Knowledge Anxiety emerges from intricate interactions among diverse factors, rather than stemming from a solitary cause. These insights furnish valuable comprehension and prospective strategies for mitigating Knowledge Anxiety among researchers, ultimately contributing to the advancement of research in this domain.

Plant Growth Regulation in Cell and Tissue Culture In Vitro.

Precise knowledge of all aspects controlling plant tissue culture and in vitro plant regeneration is crucial for plant biotechnologists and their correlated industry, as there is increasing demand for this scientific knowledge, resulting in more productive and resilient plants in the field. However, the development and application of cell and tissue culture techniques are usually based on empirical studies, although some data-driven models are available. Overall, the success of plant tissue culture is dependent on several factors such as available nutrients, endogenous auxin synthesis, organic compounds, and environment conditions. In this review, the most important aspects are described one by one, with some practical recommendations based on basic research in plant physiology and sharing our practical experience from over 20 years of research in this field. The main aim is to help new plant biotechnologists and increase the impact of the plant tissue culture industry worldwide.

The Role of Market Insights in Shaping Sustainable Mobility in Fast Developing Countries: The Case of Vietnam

Individual mobility represents one of the main contributors of air quality degradation in urban areas, with detrimental social and environmental impacts as well as economic loss. Mobility policies hence represent a key public instrument to curb congestion, pollution and health-related problems. In order to be effective, they need to rely on an adequate knowledge of demand, in terms of commuters’ attitudes, habit strength and perceived priorities. While most studies on the determinants of modal choice are rooted in Western countries or in developed economies little evidence is available for fast-developing countries, whose urban areas suffer from severe congestion and bad air quality. We test a comprehensive model to predict mobility behaviors in Vietnam, by means of an empirical investigation, with data from 898 participants (N = 898) collected via an online self-administered questionnaire. We discuss the implications for policy of the research findings, which provide an informational background representing a necessary prerequisite for the implementation of sound policies for the shift to more sustainable paradigms.

Economic education as a mirror of interdisciplinary discourse

The article continues to discuss options for the modernization of higher economic education in Russia, including those provisions that are presented in two articles: by A. Auzan, A. Maltsev and A. Kurdin (Voprosy Ekonomiki, 2023, No. 10) and by A. Buzgalin and A. Kolganov (Voprosy Ekonomiki, 2023, No. 11). Questions are formulated to clarify the position and further discussion. It is proposed to consider the modernization of economic education through the prism of structural alternatives for building an interdisciplinary discourse, as well as the demand for expert knowledge based on applied scientific research from business and the state. Special attention is paid to the significance of heterodox economic theories, as well as to the description of the image of the desired future economic education. The following principles of its construction are formulated: sufficient conceptual pluralism; setting up filters to maintain research quality standards and navigate within a disciplinary area; forming research coalitions; restructuring of curricula in the context of “building bridges” between research programs.

A knowledge-guided visualization framework of disaster scenes for helping the public cognize risk information

As an important application of virtual geographic environments (VGEs), virtual disaster scenes are essential in enhancing the public’s risk awareness. However, existing virtual disaster scene visualization methods lack expert guidance and fail to meet the public’s requirements, resulting in an ineffective public understanding. Therefore, this paper proposes a knowledge-guided disaster scene 3D visualization framework. First, the public’s demand for disaster scene visualization is analyzed, and a geographic knowledge graph of disaster scenes is constructed. Second, through the guidance of the knowledge graph, the virtual disaster scenes are fusion modeled and suitability represented. Third, a diverse organization and adaptive scheduling method of disaster scene data for multi-computing devices is established. Finally, we developed a prototype system for disaster scene visualization, selected a typical disaster, and conducted cognitive experiments with eye-tracking technology. The results show that the proposed method can effectively support the adaptive visualization of virtual disaster scenes for four computing devices and maintain an efficient frame rate. In addition, compared with other disaster scene visualization methods, our framework incorporates semantic knowledge of scene, user, demand, and space. It can effectively convey disaster information and help the public cognize disaster risks and has significant advantages in modeling standardization, personalization, and adaptability.

Differences in external load among indoor and beach volleyball players during elite matches.

The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine relationships of external load variables between beach and indoor volleyball amongst individual positions on the team. The movements of eight beach and fourteen indoor female volleyball players were recorded during elite playoff matches; in total, 2,336 three-dimensional trajectories were analyzed. Time-outs and intervals between rallies or sets were excluded from active play time. In both beach and indoor volleyball, 80% of rallies lasted up to 10 s, and players covered 4.5 to 10 m of court during 60% of rally play. Differences in dependent variables of external load were found between independent variables of sports and player positions (p < 0.05). The distance covered in beach volleyball rallies and Player Load™ parameters was significantly higher by up to 23%. The unstable court surface with sand in beach volleyball elevated explosive Player Load™ (accelerations in all three orthogonal planes of motion higher than 3.5 m/s3) in beach volleyball players compared to those of players on stable flooring in indoor. While beach volleyball blocker and defender positions showed no significant difference in parameters between each other, they differed in all parameters when compared to player positions in indoor volleyball. Indoor blocker and libero reached higher loads than setter, outside and opposite positions in various parameters. Factors that influence external load include the larger relative court areas covered by each player in beach volleyball, complexity of players' roles, and game strategy. This data adds to the knowledge of elite match demands in female volleyball. Specified agility-drill distances and times are essential for training optimization and must be supported by scientific observation. Researchers, coaches, and conditioning specialists should find this helpful for achieving a higher degree of training regulation.

The article is dedicated to exploring contemporary trends in the training of specialists in the field of Hotel and Restaurant Management as a factor in enhancing the industry's competitiveness. The growth of international tourism and the development of global communication technologies open up new opportunities for hotels and restaurants, but at the same time, pose new challenges. Therefore, the tourism and hospitality sector demands new skills and knowledge from professionals in hotel and restaurant management. The implementation of innovative technologies is the future for the development of any business and requires professionals to possess not only technical skills but also flexibility and adaptability. Modern guests expect more than just comfortable accommodation or tasty food. They want to receive services from staff who can create a unique experience for them, taking into account their individual needs and desires. Professionals in hotel and restaurant management must be adequately trained to work with clients of different types, including empathy, communication, and conflict resolution skills. The ongoing military actions in Ukraine significantly impact the current trends in the training of specialists in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Firstly, there's a change or decrease in tourist flows to the country and certain regions. This significantly affects the demand for hotel and restaurant services, which in turn will require adaptation from domestic hotel and restaurant businesses and demand knowledge in crisis management from professionals in hotel and restaurant management. Despite everything, the hospitality sector remains attractive for investment because it is the industry that most actively responds to changes in society, the economy, the social sphere, and to some extent reflects the prosperity of the population. Overall, understanding and considering contemporary trends in the training of professionals will remain an important element in achieving success in this field, as well as enabling increased competitiveness, economic efficiency, and contributing to the recovery of the industry in the future.
