Composite Eu@Cd-CP as a fluorescent probe for the detection of some food additives

A transition metal coordination polymer (CP), [Cd(Hdpcp)]n (Cd-CP) was prepared based on 3-(2,4-dicarboxyphenyl)-6-carboxypyridine ligand (H3dpcp), and then its composite Eu@Cd-CP was synthesized by the post-modification through loading Eu3+ ions on Cd-CP. Eu@Cd-CP has outstanding fluorescence stability in aqueous solution with a wide range of pH. Furthermore, Eu@Cd-CP can distinguish sodium salicylate (SS) and sodium dehydroacetate (SA) in some food additives by quenching the characteristic fluorescence of Eu3+ ion. Eu@Cd-CP is the first known CP-based fluorescent probe for selective detection of SS and SA. In addition, the fluorescence mechanisms of discerning above analytes by Eu@Cd-CP have been thoroughly evaluated. It has found that synergistic effect of the dynamic process, photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process, energy absorption competition, and formation of Eu-O bonding interactions in sensing SA lead to the fluorescence quenching of Eu@Cd-CP. The fluorescence response mechanism of Eu@Cd-CP with SA is ascribed to the combination of the dynamic process, PET process, and energy absorption competition. A series of portable devices based on Eu@Cd-CP including fluorescence test strips, lamp beads, and composite films were developed to discern SS and SA via visual changes in luminescence color. This composite material can be potentially used as a multifunctional fluorescent probe for practical applications.

Transition metal coordination polymers based on imidazole/triazole carboxylic acid ligands for efficient detection of Fe3+ ions and adsorption of dyes

Five new coordination polymers (CPs), namely [Zn(L1)2·(H2O)2]n (1), [Cd(L1)2(H2O)2]n (2), [Cd(L1)Cl]n (3), [Cu(L1)2(H2O)2]n (4) and [Cd(L2)2(H2O)2]n (5) [HL1=4-(((1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)amino)methyl)benzoic acid, HL2=4-((4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzyl)amino)benzoic acid] based on imidazole/triazole carboxylic acid ligands were synthesized by adjusting the structure of the ligands, synthesis temperatures and solvents. CPs 1, 2, 4 and 5 display 1D chain structures with different shapes, and 3 is a 4-connected crb network structure. The fluorescence sensing properties and dye adsorption of those CPs were studied, the results showed that 1–3 can sensitively detect Fe3+ by turn-off effect and the limits of detection were 0.269, 0.024 and 0.06 μM, respectively. The study of the mechanism showed that energy transfer, competitive absorption and weak interaction are the reasons of fluorescent quenching. CP 5 exhibited adsorption performance for malachite green (MG) with adsorption capacity of 1428.6 mg g−1 and has good reusability, and the hydrogen bond and π-π interactions have been proved to be the main factors for the adsorption of MG by 5.

New Transition Metal Coordination Polymers Derived from 2-(3,5-Dicarboxyphenyl)-6-carboxybenzimidazole as Photocatalysts for Dye and Antibiotic Decomposition.

Coordination polymers (CPs) are an assorted class of coordination complexes that are gaining attention for the safe and sustainable removal of organic dyes from wastewater discharge by either adsorption or photocatalytic degradation. Herein, three different coordination polymers with compositions [Ni(HL)(H2O)2·1.9H2O] (1), [Mn3(HL)(L)(μ3-OH)(H2O)(phen)2·2H2O] (2), and [Cd(HL)4(H2O)]·H2O (3) (H3L = 2-(3,5-dicarboxyphenyl)-6-carboxybenzimidazole; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray diffraction results indicated that 1 forms a 2D layer-like framework, while 2 exhibits a 3-connected net with the Schläfli symbol of (44.6), and 3 displays a 3D supramolecular network in which two adjacent 2D layers are held by π···π interactions. All three compounds have been used as photocatalysts to catalyze the photodegradation of antibiotic dinitrozole (DTZ) and rhodamine B (RhB). The photocatalytic results suggested that the Mn-based CP 2 exhibited better photodecomposition of DTZ (91.1%) and RhB (95.0%) than the other two CPs in the time span of 45 min. The observed photocatalytic mechanisms have been addressed using Hirshfeld surface analyses.

Two 2D transition metal coordination polymers based on 5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) isophthalic acid: synthesis, structure and magnetic properties

Two coordination polymers {[Co(TIA)(H2O)2]·0.25H2O}n (Co-1), and {[Mn(TIA)(H2O)2]·0.5H2O}n (Mn-2) were obtained solvothermally based on the exquisite combination of multidentate rigid linker 5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) isophthalic acid (H2TIA) and M(NO3)2·6H2O (M = Co(II), Mn(II)). The structures of 1-2 are both as 3,3-linked two-dimensional layers, which assemble into three dimensional supramolecular microporous structures by O−H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds. In addition, the static and/or dynamic magnetic characteristics of the two polymers were investigated.

Therapeutic effect of two transition metal coordination polymers on ovarian cancer by regulating the expression of estrogen receptor

ABSTRACT In the present study, via using a ligand featuring oxalamide groups N,N′-bis(4-phthalic acid) (H4L), two new Cu(II) and Co(II)-containing coordination polymers with the chemical formulae of [Cu2L(H2O)4]n (1) and [Co(H2L)(H2O)2]n (2) have been successfully prepared via reaction of the corresponding metal salts with the H4L ligand. The as-prepared two coordination polymers have been studied via the single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. Their therapeutic effect and mechanism for ovarian cancer was evaluated and explored. Firstly, the inhibitory activity of the new compounds on the proliferation of the ovarian cancer was measured with CCK-8 assay after compound treatment. Besides, the relative expression of the estrogen receptor on the ovarian cancer cells after compound treatment was also determined with real-time RT-PCR assay.

Promising fluconazole based zinc(II) and copper(II) coordination polymers against Chagas disease

A series of new transition metal coordination polymers, [Zn(Ac)2(FLZ)2]n (1), [Zn(FLZ)2(Cl)2]n (2), {[Zn(FLZ)2](NO3)2}n (3), [Cu(FLZ)2(CH₃COO)4]n (4), {[Cu(FLZ)2Cl2]}n (5) and {[Cu(FLZ)2](NO3)2}n (6), were synthesized by the reaction of fluconazole (FLZ) with the respective zinc or copper salts under mild conditions. The molecular structure of these compounds was elucidated by several analytical and spectroscopy techniques such as elemental analyses, 1H and 13C{1H} nuclear magnetic resonance, electronic paramagnetic resonance, and infrared spectroscopy. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed the structure of the compounds 2, 4, 5 and 6 in solid state. The antichagasic activity of these compounds was evaluated against different forms of Trypanosoma cruzi. Compound 2 exhibited the highest activity against intracellular amastigotes. The ultrastructural changes in epimastigotes and intracellular amastigotes were investigated. These promising biological results demonstrated that the zinc or copper coordination polymers can form very active anti-parasitic compounds. The resulting compounds are more effective than the free azole drug and, consequently, great candidates for the treatment of Chagas disease.

Two Cu(II)-based coordination polymers: inhibitory activity on the ovarian cancer cell invasion and migration by regulating the miRNA16 expression

In the present study, by employment of a bifunctional ligand 5-(triazol-1-yl)nicotinic acid (HL) containing both triazole and carboxylate groups, two new transition metal coordination polymers {[Cu(L)(H2O)0.5(DMF)0.5(NO3)0.5]·(Cl)0.5·DMF·2H2O} n (1) and {[Cu2(L)4(H2O)]·2DMA·2H2O} n (2) have been successfully prepared by reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O with the HL ligand in different solvent systems. Furthermore, the treatment ability of compounds 1 and 2 on the ovarian cancer cell invasion and migration was evaluated and the related mechanism was discussed at the same time. First of all, the trans-well assay was performed and the influence on the ovarian cancer cell invasion and migration was assessed. Then, the real time RT-PCR was conducted to measure the expression levels of the miRNA16 in the cancer cells after treatment.

Two Transition Metal Coordination Polymers: Application Values in Treatment and Clinical Nursing Against Glioma

In this paper, by employing the 4-(1H-2-methylimidazol-1-yl)benzoic acid (HMIBA) ligand featuring both imidazole and carboxylic acid groups, two novel coordination polymers (CPs) based on Cu(II) and Co(II), namely, [Cu(MIBA)2]n (2) and [Co2(MIBA)4(H2O)6]n (1), were synthesized by a reaction between HMIBA and corresponding metal salts in distinct solvent systems. Their application value on the treatment and clinical nursing against gliomas was discussed, and the associated mechanism was investigated. First, the suppression activity on the proliferation of cancer cells was examined. Second, RT-PCR was accomplished for testing the activation levels of signaling pathways of p53 and Rb in cancer cells.

Two coordination polymers: Crystal structures, prevention and nursing values on postoperative infection

In this current work, two fresh transition metal coordination polymers (CPs) have been created with the reaction between terphenyl-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic acid (H4L), the symmetrical rigid carboxylic acid ligand and the relevant metal salts under the reaction conditions of solvothermal, and the chemical compositions of the compounds respectively are {[Cu2(TPTC) (DMF)2(H2O)]·2DMF·2H2O} (2) and {[Zn (TPTC) (1,2-bimb)2]·4(H2O)}n (1, bimb = 1,2-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene). Moreover, the prevention and nursing values of the compound on postoperative infection was explored and their corresponding mechanism also was investigated. Firstly, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kit (ELISA) was employed to detect the release of inflammatory cytokines into plasma. Additionally, the expression of the bacterial survival genes was determined via exploiting the real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) after treated with the compound.

Two transition metal coordination polymers: protection activity on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury combined with chitosan chuanqizine nanoparticles

Two new transition metal coordination polymers (CPs), namely, [Co2(OH)(TZI)(DMA)] (1) and [Mn2(OH)(TZI)(H2O)2] (2) have been synthesized under solvo-/hydrothermal conditions via using a bifunctional organic ligand 5-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)isophthalic acid (H3TZI). Their treatment activity on the renal ischemia-reperfusion injury was evaluated and the related mechanism was explored at the same time. The ELISA detection kit was conducted to measure the levels of the inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α released by the epithelial cells in distal tubules. In addition to this, the HE staining was further conducted to confirm the pathological damage levels in the kidney tissue.

Two transition metal coordination polymers: treatment effect against the CVB3 induced viral myocarditis through inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway

Via applying the mixed-ligand approach, two new transition metal coordination polymers (CPs), namely, [Zn2(OH)(TZI)(2,2′-bpy)]·2H2O (1) and [Co2(OH)(TZI)(4,4′-bpy)0.5] (2) (H3TZI = 5-(4-(tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl)isophthalic acid, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions via using a bifunctional organic ligand H3TZI. Its treatment effect on the CVB3 induced viral myocarditis in vivo was evaluated and the specific mechanism was explored at the same time. First of all, the content of the creatine kinase (CK-MB) in the myocardial cells was determined with Creatine Kinase detection kit. In addition to this, the relative expression level of the NF-κB signaling pathway in myocardial cells after treatment was assessed with real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Two New Coordination Polymers: Selective Detection of Cu(II) Ion and Treatment Activity on Inner Ear Damage.

In the current study, on the basis of 1,3,5-tris(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)benzene (timb), a designed tripodal connector, two new transition metal coordination polymers (CPs), {[Cu4(timb)2(Br-IPA)4]·5H2O}n (1) and {[Zn(timb)0.5(NH2-IPA)]·4H2O}n (2) have been generated with the mixed ligand method by the reaction between the timb and corresponding metal salts in the existence of dissimilar functional isophthalic acid (H2IPA) ligands. Furthermore, the Zn(II)-based complex 2 displays high sensitivity in the detection of Cu(II) ion in water. The neural stem cells proliferation after treated via compounds was detected with Cell Counting Kit-8 detection assay. And the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was carried out for the investigation of the differentiation function of the neural stem cells after the compound 1 treatment and compound 2 treatment. Further, molecular docking simulations confirmed that the biological activity that has been observed from experiments were from the carboxyl group on the Cu complex, in contrast, the imidazole groups were only used for binding with the Cu metal ion to retain the complex structure.

RETRACTED: Two transition metal coordination polymers: Selective gas sorption and treatment activity in combination with Latanoprost on primary open-angle glaucoma

In the current study, the synthesis and characterization of two mixed-ligand coordination polymers whose chemical terms can be written as {[Cu 2 (dpmndi) (bdc) 2 )]·DMF} n ( 1 , dpmndi ​= ​ N , N ′-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide, bdc ​= ​benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate) and [Zn (dpmndi) (bdc)] n ( 2 ) were reported. The activated 1 exhibits excellent CO 2 sorption capabilities around room temperature as well as high separations of carbon dioxide over nitrogen and methane at 273 and 298 ​K. Their treatment activity combined with Latanoprost on primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) was determined and the mechanism was detected as well. At first, the intraocular pressure of the rats with POAG was measured. Then, the relative activation levels of the C-reactive protein in corneal cells were evaluated by real time RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction). The cytotoxicity of compounds 1 and 2 combined with Latanoprost on corneal cells was evaluated with CCK-8 assay. • Two mixed-ligand coordination polymers were prepared. • Activated 1 ​exhibits excellent CO 2 ​sorption performance around room temperature. • Their treatment activity on primary open-angle glaucoma was studied.
