Diagnostic Yield of Transu rethral resection of prostatetransu rethral r esection of bladder tumor TURP and(TURBT) in Mosul Two Years Study

Yield of TURP-TURBT (lransurethral resection of prostate transurethmal resection of bladder tumor) in Mosul has not been studied before. Prostatic & bladder cancers are increasing in this specific locality, to know their frequency and grades this study was donc. Four hundred and ninety TURP-TURBT chips were received, examined grossly, processed routinely, and then analyzed microscopically. The study was performed in Alzahrawi hospital - histopathology laboratories of Mosul city in Iraq between January 2006 and through December 2007. There were 320 (65.3%) were taken hy TURP and 170 (34.7%): were taken by TURBT (142 male and 28 female). Benign prostatic hyperplasia was the predominant TURP finding (282; 88.1% cases), while prostatic carcinoma was found in 38 (11.9%) cases. Most of the prostale cancer cases were received as high grades (Gleason's grade 4 and 5). Transitional cell carcinoma was the chief TURBT finding (149; 87.6'%). prostatic carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma are common in this locality. Most cases of prostate carcinoma were diagnosed as high grades.

Serum ferritin status and mitochondrial function in children

objective: Iron is the most abundant metal within the mitochondrial matrix . Ferritin reflects bodyironstores. This study aimed to assess the association between serum ferritin levels and mitochondrial function in children. Methods: Two hundred and forty-three children from four governmental primary schools in Mosul city in Iraq were randomly selected by a multistage random sampling method. Their age range was 6-12 years. Mitochondrial function tests involved measurement of serum lactate, serum pyruvate, and L-Carnitine were analyzed in all selected children along with serum ferritin. Results: Lower levels of serum ferritin weresignificantly associated with higher levels of serum lactate, serum lactate/serum pyruvate ratio. There was a significant negative correlation (p = 0.000, - 0.296,- 0.286) between mean serum ferritin level and mean serum lactate, serum lactate / serum pyruvate ratio respectively.There were significant differences (p= 0.000) in mean serum level of mitochondrial function tests (Lactate, L- Carnation, and L/P ratio) in comparing children possessing a normal level of serum ferritin versus those with a low serum ferritin level of < 12 ng/ml. ROC analysis showed that when the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.761 ± SE 0.37, a cut off value 4.79 ng/ml of serum ferritin was significantly (p=0 .000) associated with sensitivity of 100 % and 1- specificity of 0.861 value with presence of L: P molar ratio of ≤ equal 20. Conclusion:Serum ferritin < 12 ng/ ml represntsmitochondrial deficient level. Serum ferritin < 4.79 ng/ml was the critical value at which only 8.6% of children will have a healthy mitochondrial function. A review on Trichomonas species infection in humans and animals in Iraq

Trichomonas is a common protozoan that causes a sexually transmitted disease in humans called Trichomonosis and venereal and intestinal Trichomonosis in cattle and cats, respectively. This parasite also causes avian Trichomonosis, or canker, in birds' gastrointestinal tract. Three main pathogenic species (T. vaginalis, T. fetus, and T. gallina) belonging to this genus are identified and recorded in different parts of the world. However, their presence and epidemiology are still incompletely known in other parts, particularly in T. fetus in Iraq. This review aims to update information on this disease based on an electronic search of databases to document the presence and prevalence of Trichomonas spp. in humans and some animals in Iraqi cities. The findings show that the infection by T. vaginalis and T. tenax in humans and T. gallinae in birds are identified in Iraq, recording different percentage rates. However, venereal and intestinal Trichomonosis caused by T. fetus tends to be slight or absent in cattle and cats. Venereal Trichomonosis is only found in Basra and Nineveh provinces cattle, while intestinal Trichomonosis is not recorded in Iraq yet. T. hominis is recorded in central and northern areas of Iraq. In conclusion, less or absence of the infection in cattle or cats may be ascribed to animal breed, climate, less of studies, and/or other unknown factors. Thus, epidemiological and molecular studies are needed to investigate the presence and prevalence of this disease, particularly in cattle and cats of Iraq.

Seasonal Optimum Tilt Angle of Solar Panels for 100 Cities in the World

Solar energy is the most abundant renewable energy source. This energy can be converted directly into electricity using solar panels. The fixed tilt solar panels are the most practical and the most widely installed throughout the world. Optimum tilt angle calculation has the advantage that it does not use expensive solar trackers. This research calculates the seasonal optimum tilt angle of solar panels for 17 cities in Iraq and 83 cities in 83 countries distributed around the world. Solar Panel Angle Calculator program was used in calculating the optimum tilt angles from vertical. The optimum tilt angle varies between 6° and 112° throughout the year. This angle for winter, spring/ autumn and summer seasons are found to be between 6° to 66°, 30° to 89° and 54° to 112°, respectively. All angles calculated from the calculator program are validated by comparing it with those obtained from equations. An excellent agreement was established. Cities which have approximately the same absolute values of the latitudes are have the same optimum tilt angles. Based on the results, adjusting angles four times a year is recommended. This work can serve as a guidance for installing solar panels.

Geographical Distribution of Landfills in the Outskirts of Baghdad Governorate using the GIS

The problem of solid waste from domestic, industrial, commercial and medical sources is one of the most important problems facing the local administration in all Iraqi cities. The danger of this problem increases with the rapid increase in the population, changing lifestyles, consumption patterns, limited land suitable for landfill, and high costs of collection and disposal. This research aims to solve these problems by determining the locations of current landfills located in the outskirts of Baghdad Governorate. The ArcGIS program was used, where the sites of the landfills were determined on the map and through the available data about the areas. it was concluded that the existing landfill sites do not meet environmental conditions and standards. According to the statistics of 2016/2020, which the amount of waste in some areas has increased, and decreased in others. The results show that each of 16 municipalities at the outskirts of Baghdad Governorate has only one landfill. The Al-Zuhur district is one of the most waste-producing areas, according to the statistics of the years 2016/2020, due to the high population ratio in that area. Mahmudiyah was recorded among high rate waste production areas, as the amount of waste in 2016 was 49,000 tons, but decreased slightly in 2020 to 48,000 tons. The research recommends following the health and environmental foundations in proper planning for the establishment of waste dumps, as well as the necessity of activating the role of geographic information systems in the field of proper waste management and environmental planning.

Estimation and Distribution of Some Heavy Metals in Urban Soils at Kufa, Najaf Governorate: An Environmental Geochemistry Research

Kufa, considered one of the important cities in Iraq, is facing a rapid increase in population proportion and urban development in buildings and industry. Therefore, the concentration of several hazardous heavy metals is the main focus of this study. It presents the distribution and Estimation of heavy metals in urban lands in the Kufa area as an environmental geochemical study. Twenty samples of urban surface soils were collected in many sites to determine concentrations, distribution, and contamination of elements Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, Th, U, Pb, Hf, Nb, and Fe. The mean concentrations of heavy metals were compared with the local studies, UCC guidelines, and the world reference. To distinguish anthropogenic pollution, EF and Igeo guides were calculated. The obtained results established that contamination in Kufa soil land was slightly polluted by U (2.83ppm) and Nb (10.81ppm) and moderately polluted by Pb (31.7ppm) and Hf (9.75ppm). The research revealed that the reason for the elevation in the lead in the Kufa soil is that it often suffers from severe vehicle overcrowding during religious occasions.

التحليل الجغرافي للتجاوزات في مدينة الصقلاوية

The trespasses are one of the most important problems facing Iraqi cities today, which represent a new challenge for urban planners, as the phenomenon has become a threat to the city in its existence and distort its appearance, and the city of Al-Saqlawiya is not isolated from the rest of the Iraqi cities, in which various forms of trespasses appeared in its basic plan, especially after 2003 as a result of the security chaos and the weakness of the supervisory role of the authorities, and the study aims to know the type of those trespasses, their numbers, area and negative effects on the built environment, represented by the encroachment on the various land uses within the country. The basic design of the city, and outside it on the agricultural lands adjacent to it, the study has reached a set of conclusions that the most trespasses inside the city are industrial trespasses, which amounted to an area of (2.97) hectares on the taboos of roads and parks, while outside it is residential with an area of (60) hectares and that most of the land exceeded is agricultural land.

Residential Structure in the City of Sulaymaniyah (A Study in the Geography of Cities)

This study aims to delve into the housing structure in the city of Sulaymaniyah, and due to the lack of data on the housing structure about the city of Sulaymaniyah, the researcher conducted a questionnaire process by distributing 150 forms regarding information about the housing structure in the city and they were randomly distributed in order to collect information about the status of the unit The housing units in terms of the area of housing units, the ownership of housing units and the density of housing of all kinds. The results of the re- search were also compared with some of the studies that studied the housing structure in some Iraqi cities. The results of the study were also compared with some planning standards or with the standards of the Ministry of Housing and Construction in Iraq, and in terms of The per capita share of the residential use area in the city of Sulaymaniyah amounted to (28 m²) per person in 2022, which indicates the high density of residential use. The Urban Planning Commission in Iraq has set the standard (50 m²) as a share per person of the space allocated for housing, as for the urban situation For the housing unit, which is very important to know the nature and size of the housing problem, it was found in the study area and according to the data of the field study that 24 % of the housing units are unfit for habitation for many reasons, including the lack of potable water, the lack of electricity, the absence of a sewage network, or because of the age of construction or because of the location of the housing unit is not suitable.The study also reached several recommendations, the most important of which is to build a database in statistical centers for information and data related to housing in order to improve the level of housing and also to follow a housing policy in order to provide appropriate housing for families and provide facilities for investors to establish housing projects for people with limited income.

Utilizing Satellite Data to Establish Rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency Curves for Major Cities in Iraq

This study generates intensity-duration-frequency curves for three important cities in Iraq using Global Precipitation Measurement Integrated Multi-Satellite Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMERG), Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation near real-time (GSMaP NRT), and gauge corrected (GSMaP GC) satellite precipitation datasets. Many probability distribution functions were used to fit the maximum yearly rainfall data. The Sherman equation was used to create intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curves for rainfall intensities with 2-, 5-, 10-, 25-, 50-, and 100-year return periods, with the estimated coefficients of the best-fit distribution serving as the fitting parameters. The discrepancy between the IDF curves produced from the satellites and the observed data was used to bias correct the satellite IDF curves. The Generalized Extreme Value Distribution model best describes the hourly rainfall distribution of satellite data. GSMaP GC was the best option for creating IDF curves with higher correlations with observed data at Baghdad, Basra, and Mosul. The study indicates the necessity of gauge correction of satellite rainfall data to reduce under- and over-estimating observed rainfall. GSMaP GC can reasonably estimate rainfall in a predominantly arid climate region like Iraq. The generated IDF curves may be an important step toward achieving sustainable urban stormwater management in the country.

THE IRAQI OIL INDUSTRY: HISTORY AND OVERVIEW

The first attempt at producing oil in Iraq dates to the nineteenth century, when Germany explored oil in Iraq during the period (1860-1880). A series of dramatic changes have occurred in the Iraqi oil sector, as well as the agricultural sector, because of revolutions, conflicts, wars, instability, and uncertainty. The Iran-Iraq war occurred from 1980 to 1988, the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, the subsequent Gulf War, UN sanctions, the 2003 war, and regional destabilisation caused by the Islamic State terrorist group, contributed to restrictions and underinvestment. Despite the positive effects, such as increased export revenues and development opportunities, resource-rich states are often plagued by the resource curse. Conflicts resulting from resource curse raise serious questions about international security. Poor oil revenue has plagued Iraq’s economy since the second half of the 20th century. Its economy was heavily influenced by the oil sector. However, oil wealth benefits the government first and last, and the Iraqi people appear to benefit little, consequently there are protest demonstrations by citizens in various Iraqi cities against widespread unemployment, poverty, corruption, deterioration of electricity supply, education, health, and the intensification of the housing crises. Due to the lack of other productive sectors such as agriculture, industry, tourism, mining, the Iraqi economy remains a rentier economy based primarily on crude oil exports. Khrushchev used Iraq’s land to threaten the West without consulting the Iraqis. The Ten promised paradise: a study of the origin and formation of a sunni doctrine through isnād-cum-matn analysis

Abstract The concept that a certain nine or ten Companions, assured of Paradise in a Prophet ḥadīth, are superior to the rest of the Companions is among the most noteworthy Sunni beliefs. However, though well represented in the works of the ninth-century ḥadīth scholars, this concept has yet to receive adequate discussion in current scholarship. This article investigates its origin by examining various versions of the ‘Ten Promised Paradise’ ḥadīth through isnād-cum-matn analysis. The analysis suggests that this hadith, first emerging before 700, was widely circulated in Iraqi cities (above all, Kufa), and Madina before the mid-eighth century. Through examination of the socio-political milieu in which the earliest known disseminators of the ḥadīth lived, this article argues that the concept came into circulation after the second fitna. This ḥadīth’s ascendancy emerged (in Kufa) from protest against both the Umayyad hostility towards the ʿAlids and their partisans and proto-Shiʿi movements of all kinds (the Ghulāt and Hāshimīs); its propogation in Madina was most likely prompted by rivalry between the caliphate and the Hijazi elite. The article goes on to explore how the ethos of this ḥadīth became an early Sunni doctrine. A close examination of the transmitters following the earliest identifiable disseminators of various versions of the ḥadīth reveals that many transmitters played a prominent role in shaping the communal identity of the ahl al-ḥadīth. They took part in formulating their historical memory, developing ḥadīth criticism and establishing sunna either by articulating the ‘orthodoxy’ or by combating the so-called ‘innovators’.

Liver Function Abnormalities in COVID-19 Patients and their Association with Age and Sex: a Cross-Sectional Study.

In December 2019, the onset of an unidentified disease known as pneumonia for an unknown reason occurred in Wuhan city, China. Liver dysfunction has occurred in COVID-19-infected patients. The current study investigated liver function abnormalities in COVID-19 infected patients and their relationship with age and sex. A cross-section study was designed and conducted at Al-Hakeem hospital in Al-Najaf city in Iraq. This study comprised 167 patients with SARS-CoV-2 confirmation using real-time polymerase chain reaction. Liver function test results were compared among different age groups and the two genders. The analysis of categorical variables was achieved via the Chi-square test. The differences in the continuous variables between both sexes were detected via Mann-Whitney U test. A statistically significant p-value was determined to be less than 0.05. IBM SPSS software (version 26) was utilized for data analysis. Among 167 patients with COVID-19 infection, 82 (49.1 %) had abnormal liver test and 85 (50.9%) were normal (P=0.816). No significant differences were noted in liver test abnormalities among the various age groups (P=0.784). The percentages of liver function abnormalities in males and females were (68.3 %) and (37.5 %) respectively. Significant differences were detected between males and females (P=0.001). The distribution of AST and ALT between males and females was shown to be significantly different (P=0.012) and (P=0.009), respectively. The ALP (U/L) and total bilirubin (mg/dL) median values between males and females were shown to be statistically insignificant. In our study, we estimated that the risk of liver function abnormalities was not significantly different among all age groups and infected males had a higher incidence of liver dysfunction with significant differences in serum AST and ALT levels between both sexes.

Hematological, Inflammatory, Coagulation, and Oxidative/Antioxidant Biomarkers as Predictors for Severity and Mortality in COVID-19: A Prospective Cohort-Study.

Oxidative stress (OS) and inflammation are pivotal points in the pathophysiology of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). This study aims to use routine laboratory and oxidative stress/antioxidative biomarkers as predictors for the mortality of the disease. This prospective cohort study, made up of 120 COVID-19 patients from emergency units in Erbil, Duhok, Kirkuk, and Sulaymaniyah cities in Iraq, from May the 1st to May the 30th, 2021, and 60 healthy controls (HCs) (n = 60). The patients were re-categorized into mild (n = 54), severe (n = 40), and critical (n = 26) groups based on the clinical criteria. Following admission to the hospital, blood was directly collected for measuring routine laboratory biomarkers. Neutrophils and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) were higher in the critical group, while lymphocytes were lower in the severe and critical groups compared to the mild group. The CRP, ferritin, and D-dimer values were more elevated in severe and critical cases than in mild COVID-19 cases. The levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), and copper were elevated, while the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity level and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) level were lower. However, vitamin C, glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and catalase activity levels were not changed in the COVID-19 groups compared to the HCs. NO and ferritin were predictors of ICU hospitalization; D-dimer, MDA, and NLR were predictors of mortality. NO, and NLR were predictors of SpO2 depression. Moreover, NO, and copper have both good diagnostic values, their cutoffs were 39.01 and 11.93, respectively. There is an association between immune dysregulation and oxidative imbalance. The biomarkers, that could be considered as predictors for the severity and mortality of COVID-19, are the NLR, NO, ferritin, and D-dimer. The age equal to and older than 50 has a poor prognosis in the Kurdish population.

Documentation of Old Urban Areas for Regeneration Ideas in the Future, Khanaqa Neighborhood as Case Study

Globally, as the inhabitants of urban areas continueto grow, considerable pressure is placed on resources, necessitating the immediate need for effectiveimprovements to theinfrastructure in the area, particularly in terms of shelter, clean water, andwaste. The builtenvironment is asignificant component of urban life. Controlling urban zonesis thus one ofthe21st century's importantchallengesin urbandevelopment, Erbil city is not far from this challenge. Erbil is one of the old cities in Iraq that consists of many old urban areas which inyears they will lose the ability to maintain their physical structure. Accordingly documenting old neighborhoods of Erbil city could play a staminal role in helping future regeneration works. The study conducts a documentation process that preparesa set of layered maps of the existing situation of the Khanaqahneighborhood that help in regeneration works within the area in the future. Khanaqa neighborhood is one of the oldest bad-conditioned areas in Erbil city. Thisarea did notreceive any maintenance or renovation works besides its obvious problems such asCrowding problems because it’s inside the central business district, traffic problemsbecause of the development of the city, lack of car parking, there is no consideration for pedestrian, the lake of greenery, and the exhausted situation of the neighborhood are main problems. The aim of the study is to describe all the problems that faced the neighborhood to be a ready document for oncoming renovation works. The research demonstrates a descriptive methodology to explain the weak and strongpoints of the area through observationofthe condition of the buildings, streets,and facilities in the neighborhood and comparingthem with the standards. The research finds that the area needs to have a comprehensive renovation process to retain its cultural and historical valuesfrom deteriorationand on the other hand to enrich the quality of commercial activities and social interactions in the area.

The Syriac language is one of the ancient Semitic languages that appeared in the first century AD. It is currently used in a number of cities in Iraq, Turkey, and others. In this research paper, we tried to apply the work of Ali and Mahmood 2020 on the letters and words in the Syriac language to find a new encoding for them and increase the possibility of reading the message by other people.

Using Kriging Technique to Interpolate and Forecasting Temperatures Spatio-Temporal Data

This paper deals with the forecasting temperatures’ spatio-temporal data. This research aims to examine the performance of two statistical methods for interpolating and predicting Spatio-temporal. The kriging technique and a dynamic semi-parameter factor model are applied in this work. The data adopted in this work represent the temperature in Mosul city and Baghdad city in Iraq. The results of our findings show the behavior prediction is closed to the fitting model based on the cross-validation through the comparison between the kriging method and dynamic semi-parametric factor model, we are getting that kriging prediction is more efficient with the second method of the dynamic model. In conclusion, the results show that prediction is consistent with geographic basis risk, also the performance of the dynamic semi-parameter factor model appears to the extent of geographic basis risk to describe the information of the prediction model.

CFD modeling of a horizontal wind turbine by utilizing solar nozzle for power production

Abstract In this study, utilizing air velocity by converting wind kinetic energy into mechanical energy due to the converging area, has been numerically studied by proposing a 3D novel model and using ANSYS Fluent 19 software. Solar radiation by using the radiation model (S2S) has been considered to benefit from the heat energy to be converted into kinetic energy of the flow. Ultimate dimensions were calculated for the proposed nozzle is made of glass material. The study concentrates on the utilization of solar nozzles and their effect on wind energy. This study focused on and attempted to increase the local wind velocity (1 m/s) in Kirkuk city in Iraq, to a higher velocity that could produce a large amount of kinetic energy which is then converted to generate power. Hence, increasing the efficiency of the plant. Results showed that wind velocity increases as the heat gain increases and the area decreased. The velocity at the converging position without including the solar radiation model reached about (15.1 m/s), while in the case of enabling the solar radiation, it showed a value of (15.75 m/s). As a result, the power produced from this proposed method has increased by a value of 74 W.

Geochemical Content of Lead and its Distribution in Soil of Kirkuk City/Northern Iraq

The current study includes determination of the concentrations of lead (Pb) in 18 specimen of Kirkuk city soil (K). Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) technology has been used in the analysis of soil samples in laboratories Acme company in Canada. Results of chemical analysis of samples clarified a rise in average of lead in soil samples (26.11 ppm) compared with international average of soil (10 ppm) and with uncontaminated ones (15 ppm), and rise in its average in surface depth (30.2ppm) compared with the lower depths (17.97ppm), and decreases in its average as compared with local soils in other cities in Iraq. Factor analysis of the geochemical data for the samples above has been conducted and has been shown a presence of affinity and geochemical associations among Pb and both of potassium oxide and phosphorus penta oxide and also some elements such as phosphorus, cadmium, copper and zinc, as well as organic materials. Size analysis of the samples has confirmed that the concentration of Pb increases in the clay fraction in soils, and in a larger quantities than in the silty and sandy fractions. The value of Geoaccumulation index (Igeo) for samples of soil showed that it lies within the medium pollution category to non-pollution. Oxidation - reduction potential and the acidic function have helped to identify the prevailing metallic phase in the soils at the area of study, which is a type of Cerussite.

The Status of Sahib Al-Zaman's Shrine in Hilla For Shiite Scholars

Hilla is one of the important cities in Iraq، which was founded at the end of the fifth century AH. In this city there is a shrine attributed to the Imam Sahib al-Easr and al-Zaman، which received the interest of Shiites in general and great scholars.This research attempts، in the writings of the great Imami scholars، to prove that they did not exaggerate about this Shrine، and they dealt with it from a position of superiority and respect، they did not allow a deviation towards the shrine، and they also intended to show a brilliant image in the minds of Shiite، so that it is in line with other Shiite teachings and is a center for promoting this shrine as a place for communicating Shiite knowledge.

Eco - Industrial parks in Iraq

The idea of eco-industrial parks developed and became part of the planning process for the industrial city and this came as a reaction to the adverse effects of industry on the environment if this pollution continues, it will negatively affect our lives and future generations. Its importance is highlighted by achieving the principles of sustainable development by realizing the idea of a closed industrial loop in the design of the industrial city and making it self-sufficient as possible in terms of energy consumed to perform industrial operations. In addition to recycling industrial waste and benefiting from it with the idea of product and by-product where the product is considered a by-product (waste industrial) a raw material for another industry. The research paper dealt with the concept of the environmental industrial city. To study is aimed to examine the reality of planning for the industrial cities in Iraq and the environmental industrial cities around the world, and extract the most important solutions and strategies that can be followed in the Iraqi industrial cities to make them environmental industrial cities. Its main goals are embodied in preserving environmental resources and not wasting them to preserve the rights of future generations and Sustainable long-term economic success, in addition to providing a clean environment free of pollution in Iraq. In comparison with the ecological industrial cities around the world and the strategies and objectives of the proposed industrial cities in Iraq, we find: The use of clean energy, reuse of waste resulting from industrial processes, water reuse, and other main principles should be included in the Iraqi industrial cities, in addition, to set up units for treating heavy water and waste and power and purification plants.
