El papel de las universidades: iniciativas en tiempos de pandemia y el desempeño del CAJUFF Macaé

The present work is dedicated to the study of the role of universities through initiatives developed by institutions located in the city of Macaé that contribute to society, focusing on services and activities aimed at the Covid-19 pandemic period and, more specifically, the role of the CAJUFF Macaé. It is possible to identify a strong commitment from universities located in Macaé, linked to the mandatory curricular internship, research projects and extension projects, especially during the pandemic period. Contact with universities was required, as well as access to the official portals and documents of the agencies involved. Thus, it was necessary to adapt the activities in order to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic, using its human and intellectual resources. In this sense, CAJUFF Macaé's performance in the advisory aspect stands out, providing remote legal assistance regarding government emergency benefits, with great demand from the population. The thematic choice seeks to enhance the activities carried out by universities through a more in-depth analysis of CAJUFF Macaé, as well as the importance of the university itself, considering its relevant role in society.

Children's and youth repertory of the modern musical theater in Ukraine: research problems of the director's concept

The aim of the study is to determine the degree of research of the repertoire policy of the Ukrainian musical theatres in the context of works for children and youth; to emphasize the role of the director in selecting the appropriate techniques and artistic expressions aimed at young auditory. The object: children's and youth repertoire of modern Ukrainian musical theatre and its directorial incarnations, the nature of interpretations and their compliance with the young viewers' perception. The methodology implies the use of a system and analytical method, which allows carrying out theoretical and methodological generalization of scientific concepts, works and proposals of leading scientists in order to find a new scientific understanding of children's and youth repertoire of modern Ukrainian musical theatre. Functional-structural analysis makes it possible to determine the functional component of musical theatre and repertoire focused on the young audience, in particular, to form the principles and values of the influence of theatrical art on the individual. With the help of traditional methods of art research: genre, stylistic, interpretive approaches to directorial modifications of the repertoire in accordance with the modern requirements. The relevance of the study: exploring the little-studied topic of children's musical theatre in Ukraine, drawing the experts’ attention to the gaps that arise in the process of vector determination in the groups’ repertoire policy. The appeal to these aspects is signified by the need of finding the new directorial approaches if solving modern problems of children's and youth repertoire of musical theatres in Ukraine at the time of global changes in artistic culture. Art education of the young generation of the information technology era is an important component of comprehensive personal development. Findings and conclusion: the study of the problem of solving children's and youth subjects in Ukrainian musical theatres at the time of modern socio-cultural challenges allows us to state the lack of a systematic differentiated approach to the theme choice, directing techniques, artistic expression which are appropriate for the children's, teenagers’ and youth perception. The review of domestic and foreign researches on the chosen problems testifies to the existence of some separate developments in psychological and pedagogical, culturological, musicological, theatrical sciences. Unfortunately, there is still no comprehensive intersectoral scientific research that integrates the various achievement in order to create an artistically holistic performance for children and youth. The format of directorial incarnations of musical and theatrical performances of the specified repertoire implies the differentiation of directorial approaches to its interpretations in accordance with the peculiarities of the musical drama of works which are focused on the relevant audience. The further research prospects lay in the opportunity to identify examples of relevant works for the re-pertoire of the musical theatre in Ukraine and to establish the relevant directorial concepts that can be embodied in musical and theatrical performances aimed at children and youth audiences.

Rafael Cauduro’s mural The Seven Crimes of Justice, situated in the Supreme Court of Mexico, speaks to the old problem of the relationship between art, politics and the State. In Mexico City, the birthplace of modern muralism, Rafael Cauduro confronts its ambivalent legacy and offers up new solutions. And at the same time, at the very heart of the legal system, Cauduro presents a critique of law and justice almost unprecedented in its uncompromising determination to lay bare the brutality of contemporary legal phenomena, not just in Mexico but around the world. This essay examines how Cauduro’s aesthetic choices address the history of modern muralism, and how his thematic choices address the history of modern law. But above all, how do these two modes of representation, the visual and the legal, actually relate to one another? Murals and law have something in common—a belief in the force of walls. The Seven Crimes of Justice binds this common thematic together in a remarkable work that has to date attracted little critical attention. This essay gives it the attention it deserves, focusing on questions of time and memory, and of the relationship between the force of law and the force of art.

Textual construction of the hearing-impaired students’ recount texts: A case of students with special needs in writing to mean

Being cohesive in writing for the hearing-impaired students is very crucial, serving as an alternative means of expressing ideas without using sign language in communicating with people in general. This study aims to analyze the textual structure of the hearing-impaired students’ recount texts to instantiate how they structure language in communication. This study focused on investigating the choice of theme and thematic progression patterns as an instantiation of making meanings among the hearing-impaired students as a minority group of students with special needs. The data were 36 recount texts of high and low achiever students collected from three educational levels: elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Following a qualitative approach to data collection and analysis, this study relied on Systemic Functional Linguistics as the main conceptual framework for investigating types of theme and thematic progression patterns, and how these two elements showed the features of writing to mean among the hearing-impaired students. In terms of theme choices, the findings indicate that low achiever hearing-impaired students employed more marked themes with a lack of ability in writing to mean. In terms of thematic progression, theme reiteration pattern was the most frequently employed pattern, indicating a strong intention to the topic. The study informs that the textual description of the hearing-impaired students’ writings could help the teachers understand what and how to teach to improve their writing to mean.

Explicating Choice of MTN® Advertising Frameworks in Nigerian Print Media

The meaning that a communicator intends to make determines the choice of the lexemes that the individual employs. Thus, this study explored the textual choices of MTN advertisements; as such entities were utilised to generate meaning potential. Seven advertisements of MTN functioned as the objects of analysis. The application of Halliday’s Theme-Rheme theoretical lens permitted the processing of the MTN advertisements into various semiotic slots. Such conceptual procedure informed the calibration of the textual components into different frequencies, using the table and graph to demonstrate clearer pictures of the outcomes. Observations showed the kinds of MTN advertising textual choices in two distinct sequences. The first was the thematic choices in the form of marked (As Nigerians, we can weave…), unmarked (Friends are the reason…) and conjunctive logical (so, and, that) constructs. The second aspect was the clause choices available in the texts. These clause choices emanated as declarative (Love is a feeling…), imperative (So reach out) with predicated themes (Share the priceless gift of love), and interrogative (Are you in love?) elements. One could also acknowledge disjunctive grammar (A year of new challenges…) and minor clauses (Happy Valentine’s Day), operating in the communications. Contextually, the study might influence the MTN telecommunications operator to review the nature of textual choices of persuasion, having understood the structures available in the current analysis.

한영 법률 번역에서 주제(theme) 선택에 관한 사례 연구 : 체계기능주의 언어학적 관점에서

Drawing on the notion of theme in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), this paper examines the theme systems of Korean statutes and their English translations. In SFL, the theme is an element that serves as the point of departure of a message, and the remainder of the message is the rheme. Because textual meaning is expressed through textual structure, translators need to be aware of thematic mechanisms in both the source and target languages to effectively convey the intended message across different languages. This paper analyzed the themes of clauses in 110 articles of three Korean statutes―the Criminal Act, Civil Act, and Administrative Procedures Act―and their English translations by the Korean National Law Information Center, to examine the extent to which the contents and grammatical functions of the source text clauses agreed with those of the target text clauses. Analysis indicated that the thematic choices of the English translated texts largely reflected those of the Korean source texts. Except in some cases, deviations from the thematic choices of the source text generally seemed to derive from translation strategies that accounted for the grammatical and syntactic differences, thematic structure of the preceding clauses, and the delivery of information. By shedding light on the textual meaning in legal translations, this paper draws attention to the thematic choices in legal translations―from Korean into English―from the theoretical perspectives of SFL. The findings offer some useful insight into translation strategies and have implications for translator training and translation quality assessment.

Um estudo sobre o tratamento formal dos números racionais

O seguinte artigo tem por objetivo apresentar um estudo sobre o tratamento formal para alguns conceitos referentes aos números racionais, discutidos a partir de demonstrações. Nosso interesse pelo assunto pauta-se em nossa experiência vivida, enquanto professores e pesquisadores da área de Educação Matemática. Assumimos para este trabalho uma postura fenomenológica. Isso significa que nossas considerações não são generalidades, mas sim, interpretações e compreensões do que nos propomos a pesquisar. Justificamos a escrita do texto pela complexidade envolvendo a temática, visto que não há consenso entre educadores sobre quando iniciar, no contexto da sala de aula, o trabalho com a matemática formal. E, ao mesmo tempo, a escolha do tema justifica-se também por sua importância, visto que são as demonstrações matemáticas que fundamentam as teorias desta Ciência, garantindo sua validade ou não. Partimos pelos caminhos da História da Matemática, que nos mostra que, em princípio, as verdades da matemática eram constituídas de modo intuitivo, depois foram entrelaçadas pela Lógica Matemática e, na atualidade, são definidas por suas características lógico-epistemológicas, retóricas e heurísticas. Nesse contexto, destaca-se para nós os números racionais, pela riqueza matemática envolvida na constituição desse conjunto numérico e por sua presença na Educação Básica. Assim, nos debruçamos sobre o tratamento formal deste conjunto numérico e, enquanto educadores, não perdemos de vista o contexto educacional. Anunciamos que nossa intenção não é arbitrar sobre a formalização da matemática em seu ensino na Educação Básica, mas sim, expor um estudo teórico sobre algumas ideias matemáticas envolvendo os números racionais que sintetizam nossas compreensões.

Perfil cronobiológico, aptidão física e sonolência diurna excessiva em escolares

Compreender a Cronobiologia é saber como acontece o processamento do ritmo biológico do organismo do ser humano. A aptidão física é principalmente estimulada durante a infância e juventude, pois é nessa fase onde os sistemas motor e cognitivo estão mais vulneráveis a aprendizagem. Justifica-se a escolha do tema por sentir necessidade de aprofundar o conhecimento teórico e prático acerca do assunto. O objetivo dessa pesquisa é analisar o perfil cronobiológico, aptidão física e a sonolência excessiva diurna em escolares de ambos os sexos do município de Lavras da Mangabeira/CE. A seguinte pesquisa se caracteriza de campo, intencional, composta por 72 alunos, de escolas da rede pública de ensino médio. Os dados foram coletados através do questionário de Horne e Ostberg, tabela de sonolência e testes do Proesp Brasil, a análise dos dados foi realizada por meio de estatística descritiva. Os resultados nos mostram que em sua maioria os alunos estão dentro da zona saudável, possuem perfil cronobiologico vespertino, em apenas um teste o resultado encontrado foi negativo. Com tudo conclui-se que devemos nos atentar ainda mais para informações e procurar ainda mais conhecimento para que possamos intervir de maneira eficaz, cessando problemas existente.

Genre Pedagogy and ELLs’ Writing Skills: A Theme Analysis

Coherent writing skill is an important prerequisite for academic success, especially at the tertiary level. This work studied the effect of four-month teaching intervention of genre pedagogy with Reading to Learn (R2L) approach for developing coherence in argumentative writing. It was implemented on 40 undergraduate Pakistani English Language Learners (ELLs). Pre-test evaluation informed learning gaps especially at theme choice and theme progression strategies in their argumentative writings. These gaps were addressed while planning the R2L teaching cycle of ELLs’ experimental group. They were assisted through a process of scaffolding with an aim to enable them to write coherent argumentative essays independently after learning. Then functional analysis of lexical and grammatical features of their independent argumentative writings was conducted. Findings revealed that genre pedagogy had a significant effect on students' organization of argumentative writing. This study suggests genre pedagogy as a useful instructional technique, which can improve teaching and learning writing skills at the tertiary level in Pakistan.

EDUCAÇÃO DE JOVENS E ADULTOS E HOMOAFETIVIDADE: RELATO DAS CONCEPÇÕES DOS ALUNOS E DEBATE ACERCA DO TEMA

Um professor de Geografia da Rede Estadual (RJ), introduziu o conteúdo relacionado aos movimentos sociais que incluiu importantes lutas, como da etnia afro-brasileira, da comunidade LGBT, do movimento sem-terra, do movimento passe livre e outros. Solicitou que sua turma da EJA se organizasse em grupos para que os mesmos optassem em pesquisar e apresentar um dos movimentos. Observou-se que ao final das escolhas dos temas, nenhum grupo havia demonstrado interesse em apresentar o movimento LGBT. Esse trabalho objetiva narrar e problematizar a interferência pedagógica do professor, após propor um diálogo com seus alunos acerca da homoafetividade, ao ressaltar o espaço de sala de aula enquanto lócus favorável à reflexão e ao combate a toda expressão de preconceito. Utilizou-se como aparato teórico-metodológico os estudos de Louro. Após o tema ser discutido, os (as)alunos (as) passaram a apresentar discurso favorável à diversidade de gênero. A intervenção proposta pelo professor mostrou que suas concepções negativas acerca da homoafetividade eram resultantes da falta de informação, estudo e diálogo acerca do tema.

Theme choices in Czech University students’ English-medium Master's theses

Drawing on Halliday's approach to information structure in discourse, this paper explores the discursive function of the initial part of the sentence, i.e. the Theme zone, in a learner corpus of Master's theses by Czech university students of English. The aims of the study are to identify the major patterns of Themes, to analyse the realisations of textual and interpersonal Themes and to compare the Theme choices in Czech students’ theses with the academic discourse of Anglophone student writers as illustrated by BAWE, and to consider how the findings of the study can contribute to the teaching of academic writing at university level. The results of the investigation show that Czech students tend to use primarily simple and two-component Theme patterns; textual Themes tend to be overused, whereas interpersonal Themes are strongly underused. Since the underuse or overuse of some thematic patterns and their realisations may be addressed by explicit instruction aiming at expanding the range of rhetorical resources that the students have at their disposal to build a coherent discourse, the findings of this study are intended to inform the design of courses and study materials for the teaching of academic writing at university level.

Stakeholders' Consensus on Strategies for Self- and Other-Regulation of Video Game Play: A Mixed Methods Study.

Background: Little is known about strategies or mechanics to improve self-regulation of video game play that could be developed into novel interventions. This study used a participatory approach with the gaming community to uncover insider knowledge about techniques to promote healthy play and prevent gaming disorder. Methods: We used a pragmatic approach to conduct a convergent-design mixed-methods study with participants attending a science fiction and education convention. Six participants answered questions about gaming engagement and self- or game-based regulation of gaming which were then categorized into pre-determined (a priori) themes by the presenters during the presentation. The categorized themes and examples from participant responses were presented back to participants for review and discussion. Seven participants ranked their top choices of themes for each question. The rankings were analyzed using a nonparametric approach to show consensus around specific themes. Results: Participants suggested several novel potential targets for preventive interventions including specific types of social (e.g., play with others in a group) or self-regulation processes (e.g., set timers or alarms). Suggestions for game mechanics that could help included clear break points and short missions, but loot boxes were not mentioned. Conclusions: Our consensus development approach produced many specific suggestions that could be implemented by game developers or tested as public health interventions, such as encouraging breaks through game mechanics, alarms or other limit setting; encouraging group gaming; and discussing and supporting setting appropriate time or activity goals around gaming (e.g., three quests, one hour). As some suggestions here have not been addressed previously as potential interventions, this suggests the importance of including gamers as stakeholders in research on the prevention of gaming disorder and the promotion of healthy gaming. A large-scale, online approach using these methods with multiple stakeholder groups could make effective use of players’ in-depth knowledge and help speed discovery and translation of possible preventive interventions into practice and policy.

DISCURSO DE ÓDIO E OS LIMITES JURÍDICO-CONSTITUCIONAL-DEMOCRÁTICOS DA IMUNIDADE PARLAMENTAR NA CONSTITUIÇÃO FEDERAL DE 1988

Objetiva-se com a presente pesquisa investigar o fenômeno social do discurso de ódio presente parlamento brasileiro, delimitando-se o objeto de análise no estudo dos critérios constitucionais que regerão a aplicabilidade das premissas relacionadas à imunidade parlamentar. A escolha do tema se justifica em razão de sua relevância teórica, jurídica, social, política e econômica, especialmente no que atine à proteção e o exercício de direitos civis pertencentes às minorias sociais vulneráveis. O estudo do direito fundamental à diferença, essencial para a sociedade contemporânea marcada pelo pluralismo e pela diversidade, assim como a compreensão dos fundamentos científicos do discurso de ódio, foram de significativa importância ao estudo do tema. Por meio das pesquisas bibliográfica e documental, análises comparativas, críticas, teóricas e interpretativas, assim como a utilização do método dedutivo, foi possível demonstrar que o Supremo Tribunal Federal, nos inquéritos 3590 e 4694, manifestou-se no sentido de não punir os parlamentares acusados de discurso de ódio, sob a premissa da imunidade parlamentar. No momento em que o judiciário deixa de punir tais parlamentares, endossa o discurso social que naturaliza o ódio, a desigualdade, marginalização e segregação contra as minorias sociais vulneráveis, dogmatizando o instituto da imunidade parlamentar e permitindo que o parlamento seja um espaço de reprodução de ideais misóginos, machistas, xenófobos, homofóbicos e rascistas.

Discussion of Jeffrey Stern’s “The Pilgrim’s Progress”: Needed Relationships as an Orienting Principle for Contemporary Psychoanalysis

ABSTRACTThis paper was written in the context of a conference—the 2017 Annual Conference of the International Association of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology in Chicago—and a plenary panel, both dedicated to the theme, “Empathic Depths and Relational Leaps: Creating Therapeutic Possibility.” Jeffrey Stern’s paper, “The Pilgrim’s Progress: A Therapist and Patient Journey to London,” had been one of the inspirations for this choice of theme; and selecting it as the Keynote Address provided the ideal platform for launching it. Because the format of the evening Keynote Address afforded only a limited context for considering the far-reaching implications of the paper, it was decided to devote the first plenary session, the next morning, to an in-depth consideration of its ramifications for contemporary psychoanalytic practice. Because Jeffrey, an accomplished psychoanalytic scholar and author, had chosen to write his paper in the spirit of the treatment it was describing—namely in a narrative style closer to a short story than a discursive psychoanalytic paper—I felt the paper invited a theoretical analysis of what Jeffrey was implicitly doing with his patient Drum, and an attempt to put into words the extraordinary conditions that made their high-risk frame expansion plausible, and ultimately profoundly therapeutic.

METHODOLOGY OF UPDATING VOCATIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE JUNIOR SPECIALISTS OF NURSING

The article actualizes the problem of updating the vocational training of future junior specialists of nursing in medical colleges that will meet the modern requirements of society for nursing activity. The importance of using new methods of training and pedagogical technologies by medical college lecturers has been argued. Substantiation of the specifics of using effective training methods (for example, Case Study) that will promote updating vocational training of future junior specialists of nursing in medical colleges has been determined as a purpose of article. It has been generalized that improvement of pedagogical skills of medical college lecturers is the basis of education strategy of the development of students vocational training. Systematization of the experience of using innovative pedagogical technologies in junior nursing staff training testified that situational exercises, simulation tasks, master classes are successfully used in medical colleges. The appropriateness of using the Case Method using the description of real or close to reality situations has been argued. Traditional, diagnostic and descriptive types of Cases have been characterized in this work. It has been presented the algorithm of methods of using Case Study that consists of the following stages: preparation of necessary materials; entry of students into the problem; clear instruction for every student’s work; organization of individual and group work; presentation of decisions; discussion of the obtained results; summarizing. To master the methodology of using the Case Study, medical college lecturers are advised to adhere to the algorithm of creating their own «Cases» which involves the implementation of such measures: choice of theme, formulation of clear goals, concrete tasks and problem; selection of materials, description of the «Case», its editing and registration of the final variant. It has been established that the main difficulties for the development of the author’s «Case» is the complexity of collecting material that will meet all the requirements for the methods of its conducting; correlation of the essence of specified topic of certain educational discipline with situational «Case» task; lecturer’s creative approach to the development of «Cases». It has been generalized that in the development of situational tasks of professional direction that form the basis of «Cases», it is necessary to take into account modern requirements for the work of nursing staff, modern values of nursing, taking into account the tendencies to improve the professional activity of nurses in order to increase labour productivity under conditions of insufficient provision with staff resources of the Health Care institutions. The experience of using «Cases» in the vocational training of nursing future junior specialists gives the opportunity to recommend such methodology for widespread use in the medical colleges.

A Review on Studies of Theme in Academic Writing

Since Halliday's expounding on Theme, this concept has aroused certain research attention, both theoretical and empirical. Its connotations and functions have been elaborated and Theme choice has been compared across genres, disciplines and writers of different English proficiency levels. However, the limited data in existing studies led to some conflicting conclusions and interpretation in Theme use is relatively inadequate. A thorough understanding of Theme in academic writing is therefore expected before it could be incorporated successfully into writing instruction.

“Le donne, i cavalier, l’arme, gli amori”: lingua e poetica del primo Fabrizio De André

The essay shows how De Andre, from the very beginning, bases his career as a singer-songwriter on the opposition to the alleged ‘Italian song’ model. Compared to the latter, lighter and more consumeristic, De Andre presents himself as a minstrel engaged in the choice of themes and attentive to the message. To distinguish himself, De Andre ‘invents’ his own personal medieval tradition, partly drawn from the French chansonniers , and partly founded on literary sources. At the same time, he succeeds in distinguishing himself from the nascent author song, above all, for its apparently more traditional use of the language, for the sought-after vocabulary, which is often far from being colloquial, and for the recourse to closed metric forms.

ROTATIVIDADE VOLUNTÁRIA: UM ESTUDO COM TRABALHADORES POUCO QUALIFICADOS

This study aims to evaluate causes of voluntary turnover in the urban distribution sector of beverages. The choice of theme is due to the scarcity of studies on the subject in Brazil. As a theoretical basis, we used works Mobley (1992) and Price, Abelson and Baysinger (1984). The research was a case study, using qualitative data and descriptive statistics. The qualitative part of the research involved conducting semi-structured interview, involving four managers of two subsidiaries of the same company in the urban distribution segment of beverages in two cities of Minas Gerais Department. The quantitative research involved the analysis of 262 documents, including dismissal interviews filled by workers. Results showed that, even with the Brazilian economy slowing down in the survey period, voluntary turnover can be explained by two factors: the low wages paid in relation to the regional economy and the lack of human resources policies and practices related to worker retention.
