Membangun Guru Literat Digital: Analisis Kemampuan Literasi Digital Mahasiswa PGSD

The era of society 5.0 demands that everyone needs digital literacy skills. This study aims to find out how students' digital literacy skills are. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The study population was all students in semester 2 of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Education, Indonesian University of Education for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 210 people. The research sample was 74 people obtained by using simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a digital literacy skills questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that score respondents were 89,2% on functional skills and beyond, 40,2% students were difficult to find and select information and were good on the other six aspects of digital literacy. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the digital literacy abilities of students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Indonesian University of Education were in the "Good" category.

Madrasah management strategies through Madrasah Reform program: an evidence from Indonesia

PurposeImproving the quality of madrasah in the digital era is a must. This can be committed by strengthening aspects of madrasah governance through implementing management strategies that refer more to the integration of technology and Islamic education. This research focuses on madrasah management strategies through the Madrasah Reform program.Design/methodology/approachThis research uses a case study research design that focuses attention on strategic aspects of developing madrasah through the Madrasah Reform program. The informants in this study were 18 people consisting of three madrasah heads from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and Madrasah Aliyah (MA), five teachers and 10 students. Data collection in this study used in-depth and semi-structured interviews with madrasah heads and teachers regarding the implementation of the Madrasah Reform program and also regarding madrasah management strategies at three levels of education.FindingsThis study shows that the strategy of managing madrasahs through the Madrasah Reform program in three madrasahs in Indonesia has had a positive impact on improving the quality of madrasahs, although there are still aspects that require development.Research limitations/implicationsThis research implies that the quality of madrasah in the digital era is determined by management strategies based on the use of educational technology.Practical implicationsThis program has implications for the development of the quality of human resources in educational institutions, especially in relation to digital literacy among students and teaching staff. The use of digital technology, which is one of the main projections of the Madrasah Reform program, is continuously able to change the face of education in a more modern direction, both in terms of governance and the learning process, so that the output of this program, especially what occurs at Madrasah Madani, is significant development in the aspects of digital literacy and technology. Which is the main criterion in facing a digital-based educational context.Social implicationsFor a policy aspect, the success of the Madrasah Reform program at Madrasah Madani can be used as a blueprint or model for implementing this program in Islamic educational institutions, specifically Madrasas in South Sulawesi and in general at Madrasas throughout Indonesia.Originality/valueThis proves that Madrasah Reform program is a program that can be implemented in madrasahs to improve the quality of madrasah management in the digital era while continuing to carry out simultaneous improvements and evaluations of the program.

Contours of modern education: assessing students’ digital skills

In today’s information society, digital skills are becoming an increasingly important element in the successful adaptation of young people to a rapidly changing world. Assessing the level of digital literacy of students is a key aspect of developing effective educational programs and strategies aimed at preparing specialists for the challenges of the digital era. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive assessment of students’ digital literacy. The main areas of work include the analysis of existing methods for assessing digital literacy and the application of these methods to obtain specific data on a selected group of respondents. The scientific significance of this study lies in the development of an integrated approach to assess various aspects of digital literacy, as well as in identifying key areas for improving educational programs in the context of the digitalization of society. The practical significance of the study is expressed in the possibility of using the data obtained to improve educational programs and courses aimed at developing students’ digital skills. The study was conducted by anonymously surveying students using the cloud service SurveyMonkey. The survey used questions aimed at assessing the level of information, computer, communication literacy, media literacy, and attitudes toward technological innovation. The results of the study show that the average digital literacy level of students is 79.7%, with some differences between language departments. Data analysis allows us to formulate recommendations for improving the effectiveness of training in the field of digital technologies. This study makes an important contribution to the field by providing information on the current level of digital literacy among students and identifying key areas for improving educational programs in the era of digitalization. The results obtained can be used to develop and improve educational programs and courses aimed at developing digital skills, which contributes to the successful adaptation of young people to modern challenges and increases their competitiveness in the labor market.

Analyzing Discourse in The Digital Literacy Contains Pakpak Local Wisdom in Procedure Text in Class

This research is an analysis related to the application of digital literacy containing Pakpak local wisdom in procedural text material in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Sumbul. The problems in this research relate to the use of technology and the application of digital literacy containing Pakpak local wisdom in writing procedural texts. The aim of this research is to examine the learning interest and digital literacy of class VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Sumbul. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical research methods. The sample selection in this research was a purposive sample. The research results show that class VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Sumbul have mastered 5 aspects of digital literacy, namely accessing, analyzing and evaluating, creating, reflecting and acting. Students have also been able to process reading related to Pakpak local wisdom and then communicate it to others. It is hoped that the results of this research will be useful for teachers and students, and researchers who wish to conduct similar research related to the application of digital literacy containing Pakpak local wisdom.

Impact of digital literacy on academic achievement: Evidence from an online anatomy and physiology course

The increasing prevalence of online courses has highlighted the importance of digital literacy for students. This study investigates the relationship between digital literacy and academic achievement among students who participate in an online course on anatomy and physiology. The study also evaluates how different aspects of digital literacy, such as age and previous education in natural science, affect students’ grades. Using logistic regression analysis, data from five areas of digital literacy that were assessed among participants with different educational backgrounds are analyzed. The results show that some aspects of digital literacy are more crucial for academic success in the online course. Students with a natural science background exhibited higher levels of digital literacy, emphasizing the importance of considering previous education in supporting students’ digital skills in online courses. The study also reveals that students were proficient in self-assessing their own digital literacy, enabling easy evaluation of the collective digital literacy within the course and facilitating targeted interventions for all students, regardless of their initial digital literacy levels. This study underscores the importance of digital literacy in online education. It highlights the specific areas of digital literacy that strongly contribute to academic achievement and emphasizes the positive impact of previous education in natural science on students’ digital skills. These findings suggest that instructors should consider these factors when designing and delivering online courses to ensure equal opportunities for students to enhance their digital literacy.

Enhancing Digital Literacy in Village Government for Effective SID Program Implementation

This study investigates digital literacy among village government officials in Kalisogo Tambak during the implementation of the Village Information System (SID) Program. Employing a descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach, data was gathered through observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The research focused on seven aspects of digital literacy, including knowledge assembly, information presentation, material comprehension, awareness of media importance, network access awareness, information filtering, and comfort with communication and information dissemination. Results indicate an overall strong digital literacy index among the village government apparatus, with the highest score in feeling comfortable and having broad access (77%) and the lowest in awareness of the importance of conventional media and its connection to internet media (70%). The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to improve awareness in this specific aspect, offering valuable insights for enhancing integrated digital-based public services. Highlight : Integrated Digital Services: The study evaluates the digital literacy of Kalisogo Tambak's village government apparatus, providing insights into their proficiency in utilizing the SID Program for delivering integrated digital-based public services. Dimension-specific Insights: Results reveal a notable proficiency in aspects such as feeling comfortable and having a wide range of access, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions to enhance awareness regarding the importance of conventional media and its linkage to internet media. Quality assurance strategies of higher education in digital era: an Anthropology of education study in Islamic higher education institution

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to demonstrate the strategy and innovation of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in developing the quality of education in digital era by using anthropology of education approach.Design/methodology/approachIn accordance with the research purpose to demonstrate the strategy and innovation of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in developing the quality of education in the digital era using an educational anthropology approach, the method used is descriptive qualitative, which refers to data in the form of interviews obtained from the field.FindingsThe results of this research indicate that there are strategies and innovations to develop the quality of higher education at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in the digital era. These include adjusting the curriculum with the context of the era, implementing the learning process based on research and reinforcing on aspects of digital literacy among students through the innovation of the library based on digital.Originality/valueThis study can be considered in the process of evaluating policies related to quality reinforcing strategies and innovations at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in facing the challenges of the times. The study is only limited to tracing and analyzing strategies and innovations to reinforce education in the Faculty of Adab and Humanities and their impact on human resource development. For further research, it can be done in more detail and depth and on a larger scale.

Digital Literacy of Junior High School Students in Jember as an Indicator of Readiness in Facing the Society 5.0 Era in Science Learning

In order to support educational needs, it is necessary to analyze student readiness in facing the era of society 5.0 by analyzing digital literacy. Digital literacy is a capability that needs to be analyzed before implementing digital technology-integrated learning. Science is a subject of learning that is closely related to the development of science and technology and need to be urged for its development in the society 5.0 era. This study uses a descriptive quantitative research method. The subjects in this study consisted of 75 junior high school students from two schools in Jember Regency who were selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study show that 4 aspects of digital literacy, namely functional skills, effective communication, critical thinking and evaluation, and e-safety are at an advanced level. While aspects of the ability to find and select information and aspects of cultural and social understanding are at the intermediate level. Another aspect that is at the basic level is creativity and collaboration. Referring to these results, students' digital literacy in Jember Regency is already good in various aspects, although there are some aspects that still need to be improved. Digital literacy has the opportunity to facilitate the learning process in the classroom in the era of society 5.0.

The main directions of digitalization of the educational environment (DE) of an educational institution are related to the development of resources and material and technical base of the educational institution, formation of personnel, preparation of programme and teaching materials. The educational consequences of the educational institution's CSE are focused on increasing students' motivation to learn, forming their digital literacy and developing the digital competencies of the teacher. The article defines the prospects of the COE of an educational institution, identifies existing problems and ways to solve them, substantiates the potential of the digital educational environment of an educational institution in the formation of digital literacy of students. In the process of studying the DER of an educational institution as the basis for the formation of students' digital literacy, the authors used systemic and environmental approaches that allow considering the development of technical, informational, communicative, social, value, legal, cognitive and other aspects of digital literacy in a single space-time aspect. Based on the analysis of the positive and negative experience of creating a DLC of an educational institution and the characteristics of its functionality, the main problems of digitalization of education and possible ways to solve them are identified; potential risks and threats to the implementation of the educational process in the DLC are diagnosed. The role of DLC in the formation of digital literacy of students is determined. The digital educational environment is positioned as an indispensable attribute of the formation of digital literacy of students, the environment of their digital socialization. The role of the DEC of an educational institution in the organization of personality-oriented education in order to improve the quality of education, social relevance and professional success of students is clarified.

Digital Literacy Assistance for Women at Madrasah Technology Al-Khwarizmi Pangalengan, Bandung Regency

This study aims to analyze the process of digital literacy education and assistance for women at Madrasah Teknologi Al-Khwarizmi Pangalengan, Bandung Regency. Specifically, the research focuses on four aspects of digital literacy: digital skills, digital culture, digital ethics, and digital safety. The analysis uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, FGD, LGD, and documentation. Meanwhile, the mentoring process is carried out using an asset-based community development (ABCD) approach. The results of the research and mentoring show that the Madrasah of Technology Al-Khwarizmi is a non-formal educational institution in rural areas that focuses on providing understanding and assistance in digital literacy, especially for women. In addition, digital literacy assistance for women is carried out through increasing computer skills as a preventive measure against digital threats, positive cultural habituation by studying and reading the Qur'an in internet activities, strengthening digital ethics through family counseling and moral development for parents and community involvement and partnership networks in maintaining internet awareness.

Digital literacy to improve the quality of state civil apparatus services for the of Indonesia community

Extraordinary technological developments have also impacted changes in public services with the use of digital technology in the mechanism of providing public services to the community. Indonesia's desire to become a developed country forces Indonesia to make changes in serving its people, one of which is through digital technology. This research uses a qualitative approach through a descriptive analysis method based on the literature study obtained and then used as analysis material. This study aims to analyze the concept of practical digital literacy in accordance with the application of the quality of public services in Government, especially for the state civil apparatus. There is a digital-based public service design that can be implemented thoroughly for the community and, of course, makes it easier for the community as beneficiaries. The results of this study explain the analysis of eight aspects of digital literacy, which are elaborated with the parameters of the elements of assessing the quality of public government services which can then be used as a design of an integrated digital-based service system.

Teachers’ role in digitalizing education: an umbrella review

As teachers are central to digitalizing education, we summarize 40 years of research on their role in that process within a systematic umbrella review that includes 23 systematic reviews with a total of 1062 primary studies focusing technology integration and aspects of digital literacy. Our findings highlight the international acceptance of the TPACK framework as well as the need for a clear concept of digital literacy. It is unique that we identify and discuss parallels in developing teachers’ digital literacy and integrating digital technologies in the teaching profession as well as barriers to those goals. We conclude by suggesting future directions for research and describing the implications for schools, teacher education, and institutions providing professional development to in-service teachers.

An Analysis of EFL Students’ Digital Literacy Competence

In the modern era as it is today, technology is increasingly advanced and growing rapidly. Students must certainly have digital literacy skills in facing this fast-changing era. Digital literacy has a lot of coverage to which the students can use it as a media and learning resource. This research aimed to investigate the profile of the EFL students’ digital literacy competence. The research method used was case study with qualitative approach. The population in this study were the students of the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon in the 4th semester, totaling 21 people. The research sample taken were 12 people. The data were collected by using observation, digital literacy competence questionnaire, and unstructured interview. The result showed that in general the respondents were categorized as having good competence in the aspects of ICT literacy and media literacy. Meanwhile, in the aspect of information literacy the respondents were in the acceptable category. Furthermore, based on the results of data analysis of the interview results, it was found that even though they were good in the two aspects of digital literacy, and acceptable in competence of information literacy, they confessed that they tended not to practice the competence of ICT literacy in learning activities.

Essaying the design, development and validation processes of a new digital literacy scale

PurposeThe emergence of new digital technologies in the 21st century has propelled individuals to use technology in their daily lives. Individuals now require a specific set of skills, competencies and knowledge to use these devices efficiently, intelligently yet with responsibility. The purpose of this research was to design, develop and validate a digital literacy scale (DLS) using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA).Design/methodology/approachA quantitative research methodology was used for this study, whereby a unipolar 5 point Likert scale self-report questionnaire was designed to measure the digital skills of the participants. Digital literacy was divided into an exhaustive and broad list of six modules-media literacy, information literacy, communication literacy, technology literacy, visual literacy and computer literacy. The questionnaire was administered to a sample of the 2,755 Year 12 and Year 13 students of randomly selected 33 secondary school students in Fiji. Sample adequacy of the sample was tested using the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test.FindingsThe EFA results prove the existence of the six modules of digital literacy that are being utilized in this research to design the DLS. The factor loadings or the correlation coefficients range from 0.3 to 0.8; therefore, all the 60 items were kept to design the DLS. The Cronbach Alpha value of 0.90 confirmed the internal consistency and reliability of the newly designed DLS.Research limitations/implicationsThe research limitation of the study was the sample size. A broader sample would have made the results better. Research implications are; there is no scale in the south Pacific to measure digital literacy. The newly designed and developed scale is the first one that can be used to measure the digital literacy of the south Pacific populace and bridge the gap of the digital divide.Practical implicationsThe developed and validated scale can be used to measure the digital literacy of individuals both in the south Pacific and beyond. The scale covers important aspects of the much needed 21st century skills. Once digital literacy is measured, relevant stakeholders can develop instruments to improve the digital literacy of individuals.Social implicationsThe DLS can prove to be an important tool for society. In the 21st century people are required to have digital literacy to survive and thrive. Thus this tool can be used to measure digital literacy and further improve the digital literacy of the people.Originality/valueThe framework has been adopted from the work of Covello (2010) however, the definitions of digital literacy and other literacies are modified to meet the requirements of the 21st century. The tool is unique in its nature in the south Pacific and beyond. Digital Literacy Analysis of Elementary School Teachers on Distance Learning Instructional Process in Yogyakarta

A teacher must have digital literacy to be able to understand of information or learning resources access such as online videos, eBook’s, recordings, audio, and digital libraries from the internet and use their features in designing learning media for learning resources used during online learning. This study aimed to analyze the digital literacy of elementary school teachers. Data were collected from 153 teachers from 44 schools in the special province of Yogyakarta. The research method uses a survey method that includes seven aspects of digital literacy: information literacy, Digital scholarship, Learning skills, ICT literacy, Career and identity management, Communication and collaboration, and media literacy. The results show that all teachers use technology in the online learning process including teachers aged 40 years. It also can be used as motivation and reference for teachers to improve digital literacy/and educational institutions carrying out of training to improve digital literacy for elementary school teachers.

DIGITAL LITERACY IN 21ST CENTURY: A PORTRAYAL OF an ONLINE EFL CLASS in INDONESIA

 The dominance of technology in everyday life emphasizes the importance of digital literacy for people all over the world. Demand for digital literacy integration penetrates all aspects, including the teaching and learning process in Indonesia. Many researchers have already explored digital literacy in the classroom and observed it in English classroom-based learning. However, to depict more what factors are needed to develop digital literacy in online EFL classes are not many, mainly in the Indonesian context. To investigate the case, this study employed a qualitative case study approach using the following instruments; a semi-structured interview with a knowledgeable English teacher in utilizing technology, online classroom observation, and documentation. The data were then analyzed, interpreted, and presented using descriptive explanation. First, it was found that students used various digital tools and performed several digital literacy elements (cultural, cognitive, communicative, and critical) in English online learning. Nevertheless, the lack of technology sources and students' readiness in utilizing technology are regarded as barriers to implement digital literacy in practice. Second, to develop digital literacy in English online learning, students are required to use various digital tools and to recognize a variety of features across digital tools, communicate appropriately with teachers and classmates through digital tools, as well as use technology to evaluate information. So, the guidance from the teacher regarding aspects of digital literacy, and students' involvement in multiple digital environments are considered as the needs of students to develop digital literacy in the 21st century.
 
 
 
 
 
 

MENINGKATKAN LITERASI DIGITAL SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MULTIMEDIA INTERAKTIF DI MTSN 3 ROKAN HULU

Writing this article aims to improve students' digital literacy by using interactive multimedia in science learning, focusing on the structure and function of plant tissue at MTsN 3 Rokan Hulu. This study consisted of two meetings using innovative technology in the form of interactive multimedia with different sub-materials, namely (1) the structure and function of plant tissues in roots, stems and leaves, (2) the structure and function of plant tissues in flowers, fruits and seeds. Aspects of digital literacy that will be assessed in this study include: accessing, analyzing and evaluating, creating, reflecting, and communicating. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique. The sample is class VIII students at MTsN 3 Rokan Hulu as many as 32 students. The results showed that learning science on the structure and function of plant tissue by using interactive multimedia could improve the digital literacy of junior high school students with an overall percentage difference of 4.00% from meeting 1 (70.33%) to meeting 2 (74.33%). . Thus, it can be concluded that the use of interactive multimedia can improve the digital literacy of students at MTsN 3 Rokan Hulu in terms of the structure and function of plant tissues. In the end, it is hoped that similar research can be carried out related to efforts to increase digital literacy with other materials.

Digital Literacy Competence of Parents in Supervising Their Children Using Digital Media

This research aims to determine parents’ competence of essential aspects of digital literacy for their children with the qualitative descriptive method. The research results show that parents who are constantly moving to keep up with existing developments felt the parents’ competence of digital media literacy, despite not entirely in depth. They try to improve their competence in various ways for each parent, including giving direction to their children to prevent and introspect for themselves and children who have positioned this digital media technology very close to whatever the activities are.

MEASURING DIGITAL LITERACY SKILLS AMONG STUDENTS IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Various digital-based learning media strongly support the quality of online learning. Digital media is essential in the learning process because it can package the material into more contextual, interesting audiovisual, reduces verbalism, and is more interactive. The primary purpose of this research was to measure the differences in digital literacy by comparing the digital learning media and PowerPoint media in online learning. The design of this study was a pretest-posttest group with a quasi-experimental method. Overall, 56 students in a senior high school in Senior High School 2 Percut Sei Tuan, Medan City, Sumatera Utara Province, served as participants in this study. Data were collected by questionnaires and structured interviews for digital literacy. Data analyses were mixed with the quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data were analyzed statistically through independent samples t-test, and qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. Digital literacy data were analyzed using SPSS version 24 software. The results showed that the students' digital literacy using digital learning media was superior to those prepared using PowerPoint. Based on each aspect of digital literacy, namely, internet searching, understanding, and utilizing digital devices, hypertextual navigation, content evaluation, creating digital content, and communicating information, there were significant differences between groups on digital literacy competencies. Digital demand and digital deficit: conceptualising digital literacy and gauging proficiency among higher education students

ABSTRACT For higher education students, developing digital literacy enhances their value to future employers and appeal in the graduate labour market. The purpose of this study was two-fold. First, to provide a tridimensional (technical, cognitive and etiquette) conceptual framework and definition of digital literacy. Second, to investigate students’ (N = 324) perceptions of their digital literacy proficiency through an online survey. Multiple linear regression revealed mixed results for different aspects of digital literacy. Students reported the lowest proficiency in using digital information, specifically in terms of evaluation and determining bias and quality of information. The highest levels of proficiency were for social literacy skills, such as communicating appropriately online. There were minor differences between genders, while work experience and length of time in higher education had positive impact. Findings highlight the need for increased focus on digital literacy adaptability and industry-relevant experience within curriculum.
