Teacher Competence, Classroom Management, and Effectiveness in Applied Universities in Henan: Basis for the Teaching Improvement Program

To improve the teaching quality of local application-oriented undergraduate colleges and universities, this study conducted a survey of teachers in three application-oriented demonstration colleges and universities in Henan Province, and assessed the recognition degree of teachers with different personal backgrounds on the three variable dimensions of teacher competence, classroom management, and teaching effect. The results showed that gender and teaching experience have significant differences in teaching ability, personal attitude, and teaching preparation. Education level has a significant influence on teachers’ competence, teacher-student communication, and teaching effect. There was no significant difference in age among the three variables. In addition, there is a significant correlation between the three variables, indicating that the stronger the teacher’s ability, the better the classroom management, and the higher the teaching effect. This provides a reliable empirical basis for the teaching improvement plan of applied local colleges and universities.

Purpose - In the new era, the demand for foreign language translation talents in universities is also changing. However, the original training model of translation talents is outdated and unable to cope with various new problems. This thesis aims to study how to train translation talents in the current environment, improve students’ practical ability, and cultivate translation talents with innovative thinking.
 Design/Methodology/Approach - Guided by the concept of OBE, this thesis aims to explore the innovative methods of training foreign language translation talents in application-oriented undergraduate universities. This paper provides new solutions from the aspects of target orientation, process construction, teaching methods, etc., in order to provide new ideas for the training of high-quality translation talents under the new situation.
 Findings - Through the research, this paper finds that there are problems in the training of foreign language translation talents in application-oriented undergraduate colleges and universities, and on this basis, puts forward feasible innovative ways and carries out practice. We adhere to the student-oriented, constantly improve the teaching ideas and methods, and have achieved remarkable results.
 Research Implications - It provides a reference case for similar or similar courses and personnel training model, and provides a good foundation for Shandong Province and even the whole province to export professionals who adapt to the new situation.

The influence of positive psychology on the competence and compressive ability of “double qualified” university teachers

BackgroundWith the spread of COVID-19, in application-oriented undergraduate colleges, the difficulty of teaching work for “double-qualified” teachers has greatly increased, resulting in enormous work pressure for some teachers, which is not conducive to the development of teaching work and the physical and mental health of teachers.Subjects and MethodsTwenty “double qualified” teachers from a domestic finance and economics college were selected and divided into an experience group and a control group. The evaluation index system of college teachers’ competency and anti-pressure ability is constructed by using hesitant fuzzy language. Teachers in the experience group were trained in positive psychology, and their competency and anti-pressure ability were evaluated before and after the experiment using the evaluation model. The evaluation grade is divided into poor, general, relatively good, good and excellent, and is assigned with integers 1-5 respectively. The measurement type data is displayed in the form of mean ± standard deviation, and the t difference significance test is conducted. The difference significance level is 0.05.ResultsAfter completing the experiment, the statistics are shown in Table 1. Observation Table 1 shows that before the experiment, the P value of the t-test for the competency and compression resistance scores of the two groups of teachers is far greater than 0.05, with no significant difference. The experimental results showed that the post-competence and anti-pressure ability of the financial “double qualified” teachers in the experience group after positive psychological intervention were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was significant. The experimental results show that positive psychology training is conducive to improving the negative psychological pressure resistance of the “double qualified” teachers in China, so as to enhance their post competency.
