ADULTERATION AND SUBSTITUTION OF CRUDE DRUGS

Herbs are one of the effective sources of Ayurvedic & other traditional medicine as well as modern medicine. Sharangdhar Samhita (an ancient Ayurvedic literature in 1300 AD.) Introduce the concept of “polyherbal” which comprises combined herbal drug formulation with another ingredient. Polyherbal formulations were used to cure various human ailments from many centuries. These are a collection of various herbs & minerals that are pro-cessed to detoxify its toxicity and thus act as medicine which is used therapeutically. In today’s scenario where whole world is looking towards Ayurveda & Ayurvedic medicines for the treatment of ailment the treatment of the disease, this increases the demand for raw materials exponentially. However, production growth is still linear and is not sufficient to fulfil the required demand. Rapid depletion of natural resources creates major problems and also a big reason for adulteration & substitution. This Adulteration & substitution are a burning problem in Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical industry that threatens the integrity of Ayurvedic system of medicine. Therefore, an understanding of all way of adulteration & substitution is needed. This will be discussed in detail in the full pa-per along with rules & regulations mentioned in Drug & Cosmetic act and the rules between 1940 & 1945 to amend this illegal act and maximize consumer safety.

Let me start with a fascinating volume that Paolo Felice Sacchi and Marco Formisano have edited on Epitomic Writing in Late Antiquity and Beyond, the first volume in the new series sera tela, devoted to ‘Studies in Late Antique Literature and its Reception’, edited by Marco Formisano. This inaugural volume gets the new series off to a very good start. Sacchi and Formisano offer a new approach to epitomic writing, seen as a typical product of late antique literary culture. The aim of the volume is to focus not so much on what is lost and cut out in the process of condensation, but on the value of the epitomic as a hermeneutic category as well as on its aesthetic value, both textual and visual. The individual contributions follow this editorial lead admirably closely, examining the interplay of repetition, fragmentation, dismemberment and re-composition, cutting and re-uniting, and defamiliarization, and showing how epitomic writing can be playful and entertaining, how it can represent a sophisticated act of interpretation, and serve as a ‘tool for investigating the very borders and paradoxes of language’ (12), even for conveying a spiritual experience.

Research on the integration of traditional culture into the teaching of ancient literature courses in colleges and universities in the context of big data

Abstract The research on the integration of traditional culture into the teaching of ancient literature courses in colleges and universities is to be able to inherit better and develop traditional Chinese culture. In this paper, the hyperparameters of the XGBoost algorithm are optimized using the sparrow search optimization algorithm in the context of big data, which leads to the SSA-XGBoost analysis model. The basic content, characteristics and contemporary values of traditional culture are analyzed in detail, and the SSA-XGBoost analysis model is used to analyze and demonstrate the teaching principles and methods of the traditional culture integration ancient literature course. From the viewpoint of teaching principles, the intuitive principle has the largest growth rate of 10.99%. In terms of teaching methods, the most popular teaching method was the activity-assisted method, with 41.8%. Thus, teaching traditional culture integrated with ancient literature courses needs to pay attention to the choice of teaching methods and principles to make it more acceptable to students and thus promote the development of traditional culture transmission.

Earthly fruitfulness and the gods of nature in Rubens’ imagery

This article explores themes of fertility and fecundity in Peter Paul Rubens’ work and investigates their role in a peculiar Rubensian category of subject, somewhere between landscape and myth, which can perhaps be described as ‘mythological genre’. Here we see the ancient gods of nature inhabiting the countryside and engaged in their ‘everyday’ activities, though, as in The feast of Venus (Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum), their presence is usually sensed rather than seen by any human characters depicted alongside them. A particular focus of the article is one of Rubens’ most personal works, the Nymphs and satyrs gathering fruit (Madrid, Museo del Prado). It was his happy invention to give the nymphs, satyrs and even the old Silenus the job of collecting fruit together, to keep the cornucopia – symbol of abundance and fecundity – in a state of constant overflow. It has not been realised, however, that Rubens had a classical source for the idea of Silenus and the satyrs helping the nymphs gather apples: a passage in Propertius’ Elegies (II.32.37-40). The poetry of Propertius was especially familiar to Rubens’ circle as Justus Lipsius planned an edition of the poet’s work. Moreover, the lines had been the subject of a notable emendation by Joseph Justus Scaliger, as well as an extensive discussion by Lipsius in his Antiquae lectiones (III). Rubens was surely familiar with the Propertius passage, whether he came across it in his reading or in his conversations on ancient literature and customs with his brother, Philip, Lipsius’ favourite pupil. In Nymphs and satyrs, the poet’s lines seem to have helped inspire a joyous celebration of the earth’s fruitfulness by the gods of nature themselves.

Research on the Teaching Reform of Visualization in the course of Ancient Literary History under the background of "Digital Humanities"

In recent years, the "digital humanities" technology has developed vigorously, and the corresponding research results have emerged one after another. In this context, the scientific research of classical literature is developing in a more effective, accurate and comprehensive direction, both in terms of research methods and conclusions. Starting from the perspective of "visualization", this paper deeply discusses the teaching design issues related to the teaching reform of Ancient literature, mainly from the integration of the reality and academic nature of teaching content, the diversification of teaching methods with students as the main body, the integration of innovation and operability of the assessment mechanism, and tries to solve the problems of "obscure content", "time-space separation" and other problems in the course of Ancient literature, Explore a new path of teaching reform.The data comparison results showed that the new method can significantly improved the learning enthusiasm and performance of liberal arts students, and had certain application and practical value.

Analysis of artistic features of ancient Chinese literary works based on multi-scale feature fusion network

Abstract Against the background of the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the use of artificial intelligence technology to improve the efficiency of artistic feature analysis of ancient Chinese literary works has become a hot topic of current research in literature. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale feature fusion network for the artistic feature analysis of ancient Chinese literary works to address the problems of a single structure and inflexible adaptation of features that appear in RPN networks and path aggregation networks. Then, features are extracted from ancient Chinese literary works, and several adaptive multi-scale feature extraction modules are used to squeeze the incentive and adaptive gating mechanisms for artistic feature extraction and fusion. Finally, the evaluation index system of artistic features of literary works is constructed, and the multi-scale feature fusion network weights the artistic features of ancient Chinese literature. The results show that the average weights of humanistic spiritual features, national patriotic features, literary emotional features and transformative artistic features in ancient Chinese literature and art features are 26.11%, 24.97%, 23.89% and 25.03%, respectively, and the average weight of humanistic spiritual features performs better compared with the other three. This study analyzes the artistic characteristics and cultural values of ancient literary works, which is an effective initiative for modern people to study ancient culture and inherit the national spirit and has important historical significance for developing Chinese literature.

“Liao Zhai Zhi Yi” occupies an important place in the history of ancient Chinese literature as a collection of stories in classical Chinese and is highly regarded both at home and abroad. The Russian translations of “Liao Zhai Zhi Yi” have existed for more than 140 years and are demanded by readers. This article is an attempt to understand the history of the Russian translations of the “Liao Zhai Zhi Yi” using the method of diachronic research, examining their features, and analyzing the goals and methods of different translations. The aim of the article is to trace the evolution of the Russian translation of “Liao Zhai Zhi Yi” and determine its prospects.

On the earliest descriptions of the uremic syndrome in medical literature.

Uremic syndrome refers to the clinical manifestations of renal failure (acute or chronic) that results from the accumulation of several endogenous toxins normally excreted by the kidneys and can be fatal unless the primary cause is addressed and the toxins removed by dialysis. A historical description of the syndrome is traditionally believed to start in the 18th - 19th century through seminal works in the field of experimental medicine. This account, however, ignores the possibility of clinical apperception of this syndrome in ancient medical literatures. The Sushruta Samhita (SS), a Sanskrit text whose authorship is attributed to the legendary ancient Indian surgeon Sushruta (6th century BC), is well known for its pioneering descriptions of several surgical procedures, even though its contribution to the fields of internal medicine and especially nephrology is detailed. Prameha, a term that first appears in the SS, and subsequently in later historical Ayurvedic (traditional Indian medicine) texts, denotes a multi-systemic disease syndrome impacting the neurological, cardiac, dermatological, and gastrointestinal systems that is recognized through its intimate association with urinary abnormalities such as hematuria, frothy urine, or glycosuria. This construct is highly consistent with uremic syndrome originating from multiple renal disease processes such as acute glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, etc. Furthermore, medical treatment of prameha, as detailed in the original text, reflects several recently validated approaches to managing chronic kidney disease, supporting the hypothesis that this historical entity may be one of the earliest descriptions of uremic syndrome in medical history.

AbstractHow accessible is the field of Latin and ancient Ancient Greek languages in the Dutch education system? In recent years this discussion has resurfaced in the light of societal developments which focus on equality of opportunities.1 Moreover, our field faces the challenge to explain in both international and national discussions what makes its study so relevant in the current times, both in secondary and tertiary education.2 This article provides a short overview of the current situation of Latin and ancient Ancient Greek education within the Dutch secondary education system before looking in more detail at its impact on Dutch students. It ends with directions for improving the accessibility of the field of Classics education. In order to illustrate the functioning and consequences of the current situation, in June 2021 a large-scale survey among 1,700 Dutch students of the gymnasium (secondary education with Latin and ancient Greek) provides us with interesting experiences, biases and thoughts about the accessibility of classical education. If we believe that knowledge of the ancient languages and literatures is a valuable resource for the younger generations of our modern society and in addition we see that our field, as any field, would profit from a more diverse group of researchers and teachers, the direction for future improvements is clear; but concrete steps in that direction should be taken at various levels. With this article, I hope to contribute to such improvements to the educational system and contemporaneously to our field.

Centella asiatica: A mini review of its medicinal properties and different uses

A useful plant for human medicine is Centella asiatica (L.). Centella asiatica (L.) is widely used in conventional medicine, including unani, ayurveda, and herbal treatments. It is an important medicinal herb used around the world that is perennial, creeping, and barely fragrant. It is found throughout the world's tropical and subtropical regions, including Bangladesh, India, China, Nepal, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, and others. The herb is suggested for the treatment of a number of skin problems, including leprosy, lupus, varicose ulcers, eczema, psoriasis, diseases of the female genitourinary system, as well as for reducing anxiety and enhancing cognition. Science has validated the bioactive components and promoted several of its uses. In order to provide a easy summary of this plant, We have assessed the ancient literature that is available in search of the medicinal value of C. asiatica. We tried to compare ancient literature findings with our practical experience and insights in the context of Bangladesh.

RECEIVING INFLUENCE FROM CHINESE LITERATURE IN THE COMPOSITION OF TRUYEN KY MAN LUC (CASUAL RECORDS OF TRANSMITTED STRANGE TALES) BY NGUYEN DU (VIETNAM) AND THE VALUE OF THE WORK

Truyen Ky Man Luc (Casual Records of Transmitted Strange Tales) by Nguyen Du, born in the 16th century, is considered an ancient fairy tale of Vietnamese medieval literature. The work laid the foundation for the birth and flourishing of the folktale genre in Vietnam. Understanding the source factors affecting the creation of works and explaining why Truyen Ky Man Luc is so appreciated in Vietnamese literature is a matter of theoretical and practical significance. Companion Plants of Tea: From Ancient to Terrace to Forest.

China is one of the origins of ancient tea gardens, with a long history of tea culture and tea cultivation. Guizhou Province is an important tea production place in southwest China with rich forest tea resources. The purpose of this study is to obtain historical information on companion plants in historical tea gardens and provide a theoretical basis for the sustainable development of forest tea gardens in Guizhou Province. We conducted a statistical analysis and comparison of plant species among ancient tea gardens, terrace tea gardens, and forest tea gardens from a diachronic perspective, based on 21 ancient tea literature studies, 116 terrace tea garden documents, and 18 sampled plots of forest tea gardens in Guizhou. A total of 24 companion plants species belonging to 16 families and 22 genera were found in ancient tea gardens, 81 species were found in terrace tea gardens belonging to 37 families and 74 genera, and 232 species were found in sample plots of forest tea gardens belonging to 90 families and 178 genera. Companion plants can be divided into three categories. Most of the plant families recorded in the literature also appeared in the forest tea garden we surveyed. In ancient tea gardens, terrace tea gardens, and forest tea gardens, Poaceae, Fabaceae, and Rosaceae were the most dominant families, respectively. The intercropping of tea gardens has been practiced since ancient times. Companion plants in natural forest tea gardens not only provide important insights into intercropping of terrace gardens but also hold significant implications for the conservation of existing forest tea gardens and the sustainable development of tea gardens.

Therapeutic and Biological Aspects of Leaf Extracts from Indian Copper leaf Plant (Acalypha Indica)

Acalypha indica is found extensively in India and the Indian subcontinent. The whole plant has medicinal values with many ethnobotanical importance which has been described in many ancient and modern literatures. Most medicinal and therapeutic capabilities are present in leaves compared to other plant parts such as roots, stems, seeds and flowers. Various studies have been proposed to establish the therapeutic capabilities of the Indian Copper leaf plant (Acalypha indica). This research paper focuses on studying different phytochemicals present in acetone and hydro-alcohol leaf extracts of Acalypha indica with quantification of Phenol and Flavonoid content in the plant extracts. This experimental evidence also quantifies the antioxidant properties by DPPH methodology for given extracts and the plants’ importance as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. The study also gives insight into the capability of the solvent extracts for the greener synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNP’s) from molecular silver solution with characterization and morphological characteristics of synthesized silver nanoparticles.

Cultural Connotation of Mountains, Rivers, Forests, Farmlands, Lakes, Grasslands and Deserts

“Nature is the mother of life, and it is a community of life for man and nature”. Since the emergence of human beings, the natural environment has been the source of human survival, development and innovation. Through combing ancient literature records and investigating and analyzing the cultural characteristics of China's different geographic environments, we attempt to discover the intrinsic roots of nature and culture. The relationship between human beings and nature also changes with the development of the times. From adapting to nature, utilizing nature, transforming nature, and then feeding nature, reshaping nature and protecting nature, it is not only a process of harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature, but also a process of creating culture, forming rich and distinctive cultural types and forms. Mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, deserts and human beings are interdependent and closely related to a community of life. In order to adapt to the different environments of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and deserts, human beings have adopted different ways of living, production and life, and formed natural cultures of " Each place has its way of supporting its inhabitants". The cultures originating from nature are the ways of getting along with nature gradually formed in the harmonious coexistence between man and nature. They are also the excellent culture that we need to inherit and carry forward in the modern construction of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

Yao-Shan of traditional Chinese medicine: an old story for metabolic health.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), cardio-cerebrovascular diseases (CCVDs), hyperuricemia and gout, and metabolic-related sexual dysfunction are metabolic diseases that affect human health in modern society. Scientists have made great efforts to investigate metabolic diseases using cell models in vitro or animal models in the past. However, the findings from cells or animals are difficult to translate into clinical applications due to factors such as the in vitro and in vivo differences; the differences in anatomy, physiology, and genetics between humans and animals; and the differences in microbiome-host interaction. The Chinese have extensively used the medicated diet of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) (also named as Yao-Shan of TCM, Chinese Yao-Shan et al.) to maintain or improve cardiometabolic health for more than 2,200years. These ancient classic diets of TCM are essential summaries of long-term life and clinical practices. Over the past 5years, our group has made every effort to collect and sort out the classic Yao-Shan of TCM from the ancient TCM literature since Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, especially these are involved in the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, NAFLD, CCVDs, hyperuricemia and gout, and sexual dysfunction. Here, we summarized and discussed the classic Yao-Shan of TCM for metabolic diseases according to the time recorded in the ancient literature, and revised the Latin names of the raw materials in these Yao-Shan of TCM. Moreover, the modern medicine evidences of some Yao-Shan of TCM on metabolic diseases have also been summarized and emphasized in here. However, the exact composition (in terms of ratios), preparation process, and dosage of many Yao-Shan are not standardized, and their main active ingredients are vague. Uncovering the mystery of Yao-Shan of TCM through modern biological and chemical strategies will help us open a door, which is ancient but now looks new, to modulate metabolic homeostasis and diseases.

Count S. D. Sheremetev and the establishment of the Committee of Guardianship of Russian Icon Painting

By the end of the nineteenth century, it had become obvious that there was a need to prepare and publish a new Icon-painting Script (Podlinnik) - a manual that holds the canonical rules in accordance with which icons and church walls should be painted. A trusted courtier of the Dowager Empress, Count S.D. Sheremetev arranged a considerable discussion of this issue in the Society of Lovers of Ancient Literature, of which he was a chairperson. In the course of this discussion, it became clear that the situation necessitated not only the publication of a new Podlinnik, but also the establishment of icon-painting schools and, in general, the systematization of a wide range of issues related to the development of this trade. Sheremetev approached the Emperor with the request, and Nicholas II established a special structure under his command - the Committee of Care on Russian Icon Painting, which was charged with reforming the icon painting trade. Director General of the Most Holy Synod, K.P. Pobedonostsev was not initiated into this project: the creation and initial stages of the structure's activities took place outside his jurisdiction. This circumstance led to his conflict with Sheremetev.

The textbook Ancient History of China edited by Zhu Shaohou and others is the most widely used textbook for the course "Chinese ancient history" of history majors in Chinese universities. This textbook has been revised multiple times in the past 40 years, but there are still many problems, such as contradictory expressions of the same problem, lack of pronunciation and meaning labeling of rare characters in ancient literature, omission of legal and diplomatic aspects in the history of Song and Yuan , inaccurate use of historical materials, and obvious untrue statements; Part of the content is outdated, neglecting the important role of maps, schematics, datasheets, and physical photos in students' construction of specific historical time and space and understanding of relevant content. These issues reveal that there is room for improvement at all stages of the compilation process of undergraduate history textbooks in Chinese universities, and it is urgent to attract the attention of the historical community and management departments.
