An In-depth Analysis of Consumer Perceived Value and Expansion of Online Retailers in Metropolitan Kampala, Uganda

Purpose: This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of how consumer perceptions of value shape purchasing decisions and foster sustained expansion for online retailers in Metropolitan Kampala, Uganda. The study will identify the key theoretical foundations that anchor research on perceived value, provide actionable insights to guide online retailers in developing effective strategies for overall business growth and propose a future research agenda on Perceived Value. Methodology: This review process was organized on the three-stage method: planning, execution, and reporting. In the first stage, the study identified its purpose and selected its main source of data being peer-reviewed journals from EBSCOHost, Econlit, Google Scholar, Web of Knowledge, and Social Sciences Citation Index. During the execution stage, Consumer Perceived Value, Online Retailers, and e-commerce are the identified keywords to facilitate the search for data. Out of 63 publications obtained between 2015 and 2024, only 26 papers were examined after reading the abstracts. The findings were reported using tabulation and narration. Findings: The findings highlight how enhancing perceived value through effective e-marketing strategies, quality service, and personalized experiences can lead to increased customer engagement, retention, and ultimately, the successful adoption of e-commerce technologies. Dive in to discover how businesses can differentiate themselves in a competitive market by focusing on what truly matters to their customers. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), service quality Theory (S.Q.T), and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) have been identified as the dominant theoretical framework in the study on consumer perceived value (P.V.). Implications: Businesses that effectively enhance perceived value through improved service quality, customer engagement, focus on creating a balanced approach to convenience, privacy, and build and maintain good relationships with customers can differentiate themselves in competitive markets. Exploring the constraints of the reviewed studies offers potential research directions. This study, therefore offers a complete perspective that advances both practice and research.

Online Marketing Readiness of MSMEs in Indonesia: A Perspective of Technology Organizational Environmental Framework

Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in the economic landscape of tourism areas, offering collective services that enhance tourist experiences and convenience at destinations. One key effort to promote tourism is enhancing the technological readiness of MSMEs. This study aims to evaluate the preparedness of MSMEs to adopt e-commerce technology. Data was gathered through interviews and questionnaires distributed randomly to 184 business operators. The research utilized the Technology Organizational Environmental (TOE) framework, encompassing ten indicators identified from various sources. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with four hypotheses. The findings reveal that both organizational readiness and external environmental support have a positive impact on technology adoption readiness. Furthermore, organizational readiness significantly mediates the relationship between environmental support and technological readiness. Therefore, it is essential to develop the organizational readiness of MSMEs to facilitate the adoption of e-commerce technology.

ADOPTION OF E-COMMERCE TECHNOLOGY AMONG WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN COIMBATORE DISTRICT: A UTAUT 2 PERSPECTIVE

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the adoption of e-commerce technology across various sectors, including among women entrepreneurs. Many women entrepreneurs have shifted their businesses online to adapt to changing consumer behaviors and restrictions on physical retail during the pandemic. This shift has been particularly evident in sectors such as retail, fashion, food, and handicrafts. This study focuses on E-commerce Technology adoption by women entrepreneurs in Coimbatore district, Tamilnadu. The questionnaire was framed based on The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT 2) framework to analyze the acceptance and use of e-commerce technology among women entrepreneurs and to study various constructs that encouraged women entrepreneurs to adopt and use e-commerce. It is seen the construct- behavioral intention to use technology and facilitating conditions were found to have a significant influence on women entrepreneurs to use e-commerce applications and all other constructs have influence on one another and have an greater impact on women entrepreneurs to adopt and use e-commerce technology. Transformasi Teknologi E-Commerce Sebagai Upaya Meningkatkan Daya Saing UMKM Di Kota Palangka Raya: Faktor Pendorong Dan Penghambat Adopsi

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an essential role in justice, increase people's income and encourage Indonesia's economic growth. However, in Palangkaraya City, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the contribution of MSMEs to improving the economy and people's income has not been proportional to the number. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors driving and inhibiting the adoption of e-commerce technology among MSMEs in Palangkaraya City. In this study, researchers cite relevant literature and research sources to reveal the factors supporting or hindering e-commerce adoption among MSMEs. Consumer Support, Organizational Support, Knowledge Support, Technical Barriers, Financial Barriers, Legal Barriers, and Regulatory Barriers. The findings of this study can provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders to increase the competitiveness and market access of MSMEs in the digital era.

FACTORS AFFECTING SUSTAINABLE E-COMMERCE ADOPTION: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM BANGLADESHI SMES

This paper aims to examine the technology-organization-environment (TOE) predictors of Sustainable E-commerce technology adoption in SMEs of Bangladesh. The study developed a conceptual framework based on the integration of technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework. 156 quantitative survey data were collected from engaging employees from different SMEs from different parts of Bangladesh. SPSS was used in descriptive statistics, Correlation, regression and structural equation modeling approach to test and analyze the data. This study found that Perceived Relative Advantage, Compatibility, Management Support, Resource Commitment, Regulatory Forces, Competitive Forces and Economic Performance in SMEs had a positive influence on the adoption of e-commerce technologies such as responsive website, e-CRM modules, e-payment, mobile app etc. All seven hypothesized relationships were supported be the study. In the context of an emerging economy, the results can be useful for practitioners and decision-makers because they will help them justify their adoption decisions and effectively contribute to strategies for sustainability.

Challenges limiting small and medium scale enterprises from adopting electronic commerce in Tanzania

The paper describes the challenges of SMEs in the adoption of e-commerce technology in Tanzania. Dar es Salaam city-Ilala Municipal was chosen as a case study because SMEs found in Dar es Salaam are more likely to be using e-commerce since Dar es Salaam is among regions where most SMEs are connected to the internet are found in Tanzania. The researcher collected data from 30 SMEs found in Ilala Municipality. The data collected were then subjected to analysis using Quantitative methods and content analysis. Frequency and percentage were used in data presentation, where questions on technical challenges, Technological challenges, and management attitudes were answered. The results indicate that there are Technical, technological challenges, and management reasons that limit SMEs from adopting e-commerce. It was concluded that building any kind of electronic commerce system requires a strategy, that is the vision of the goal to achieve, a clear rationale of the business value, and a picture of the process to achieve such a goal and avoid a common pitfall. Evaluation of Barriers in the Adoption of E-Commerce Technology in SMEs

The main purpose of this study is to examine barriers towards e-commerce platforms in developing countries using specific analytic techniques. The present empirical analysis has its main objectives of detailed study of barriers that keep deferring them to adopt an e-commerce platform. To achieve this, the barriers were selected from an extensive literature review and expert advice from this field. Then the responses were studied using a fuzzy DEMATEL approach. The causal relationship graphs provide detailed structural interdependencies of the barriers. In this exploratory study benchmarking has come out to be the most influential barrier that needs to be practiced while adopting an e-commerce platform. Furthermore, a lack of top management commitment has also been a significant barrier in the organization while initiating an online real-time business. The result also showed that higher turnover and poor planning are the most influenced barrier among the other parameter, the sensitivity analysis of the method is conducted to validate the robustness of the results.

An examination of the e-commerce technology drivers in the real estate industry

This study examined the factors that drive e-commerce technology adoption in the real estate industry in Qatar using the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3) and sought to analyze the relationship between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, anchor factors, adjustment factors and cognitive instrumental variables and their effect on e-commerce adoption in real estate industry in Qatar. The study adopted a descriptive methodology and quantitative research design utilizing survey strategy. 350 filtered and screened questionnaires that were retrieved from the Quota sample from 59 real estate firms operating in Qatar were analyzed using AMOS. The results indicate that all the dependent variables have significant relationship with e-commerce adoption indicating that the original model used was a good fit, accounting for a large percentage of the variance associated with e-commerce adoption. However, the results also show that only perceived usefulness and anchor variables have positive direct effect on e-commerce adoption; perceived ease of use, adjustment variables and cognitive instrumental factors have notable indirect effect on e-commerce adoption.

Affecting Factors to Intentions to Adoption of E-Commerce Technologies in SMEs of Pakistan

Purpose: This study confirms the main determinants that affect the intention to the adoption of e-commerce and provides a procedure to analyze and implement practices and indicates the necessary measures. This study integrates the technical composition and determinism of organizational and environmental constructively to build a practical framework for understanding the adoption of e-commerce in SMEs of Pakistan. Methodology: This study is a explanatory research, the quantitative approach is employed, data is collected through an adopted questioner, responses of 160 SMEs are selected for analysis through PLS3. Finding: The results indicate that technological, organizational and environmental factors have a direct impact on the intention to the adoption of e-commerce on SMEs of Pakistan. The results also show that there is a trend to imitate the Pakistani SMEs who are successfully taken to avoid the risks of e-commerce technologies. Limitations: This study is limited to the context of Pakistan. Implications: The globalization of the markets, the relationship of national economies and the adoption of e commerce with the increasing interdependence of national economies are a bit complex to be known about the key factors, but this is considered as a difficult phenomenon to understand e-commerce.

E-commerce technology adoption: A Malaysian grocery SME retail sector study

Electronic commerce (EC) has substantial potential to foster the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developed and developing countries alike. However, EC adoption by SMEs in developing countries has faced many challenges that have not been adequately addressed due to the complex nature of EC adoption in such countries. The aim of this study is to systematically examine the influence of organizational, industry, and national readiness and environmental pressure on the adoption of diverse EC technologies by SMEs in developing countries. A quantitative survey was conducted with retail SMEs within the Malaysian grocery sector to validate the proposed multi-level model. Findings indicate significant influence of environmental pressure on the adoption of various EC technologies. Organizational and national readiness have different influences across diverse EC technologies, while the influence of industry readiness is shown to be insignificant. This study extends the current understanding of the influence of micro-, meso- and macro-level factors and has important implications for researchers, practitioners, and policy makers.

B2B E-Commerce Institutionalization in SMEs in Less Developed Countries

The adoption of e-commerce technologies is an organization-learning process. Existing literature on the adoption has not been adequately addressed on this nature. This study develops a model and instrument to investigate the determinants of both initial adoption of e-commerce and its sophisticated extent in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in less developed countries' context. A model is tested empirically by using the data collected in Saudi Arabia. Since the sophistication of e-commerce is essential to gain full benefits from the technology, it is important to understand well influential factors of a decision of sophisticated adoption. Therefore, this present study is a necessary contribution to the literature.

Electronic Commerce Technology Adoption at the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre

This paper focuses on the level of adoption of E-Commerce Technology at the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC), a Zimbabwean organization established by an act of parliament, with a mandate to develop, adopt and adapt new technologies for the benefit of Zimbabwean companies and organizations. The study was done in 2004 and the findings reviewed in 2012 with similar results. The objective of the study was to establish whether E-commerce technology adoption would result in the organization being more efficient and effective in delivering its mandate and then establish the level of adoption of the technology at the centre using abstraction and a questionnaire survey. Abstraction results showed that organizations which had fully embraced the technology were more efficient and effective while the survey revealed that the centre had partially adopted the technology. It was recommended that the centre should fully embrace the technology and market it to other organizations as per its mandate.

A preliminary study of ecommerce adoption in developing countries

What factors underlie the adoption dynamics of ecommerce technologies among users in developing countries? Even though the internet promised to be the great equalizer, the nuanced variety of conditions and contingencies that shape user adoption of ecommerce technologies has received little scrutiny. Building on previous research on technology adoption, the paper proposes a global information technology (IT) adoption model. The model includes antecedents of performance expectancy, social influence, and technology opportunism and investigates the crucial influence of facilitating conditions. The proposed model is tested using data from 172 technology users from 37 countries, collected over a 1-year period. The findings suggest that in developing countries, facilitating conditions play a critical moderating role in understanding actual ecommerce adoption, especially when in tandem with technological opportunism. Altogether, the paper offers a preliminary scrutiny of the mechanics of ecommerce adoption in developing countries.

Supply Chain Management and E-Commerce Technology Adoption among Logistics Service Providers in Malaysia

Logistics is part of the supply chain processes that plans, implements, and controls the efficient and effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customer requirements. This research aims to investigate the current status and future direction of the use of Information Technology (IT) for logistics, focusing on Supply Chain Management (SCM) and E-Commerce adoption in Malaysia. Therefore, this research stresses on the type of technology being adopted, factors, benefits and barriers affecting the innovation in SCM and E-Commerce technology adoption among Logistics Service Providers (LSP). A mailed questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from 265 logistics companies in Johor. The research revealed a high level of SCM technology adoption among LSP as they had adopted SCM technology in various business processes while they perceived a high level of benefits from SCM adoption.

Challenges in the adoption of E-Commerce technologies in India: The role of organizational factors

Organizations differ significantly in their inclination to deploy E-Commerce (EC) technologies. It is necessary to analyze the factors that determine the organizational inclination to deploy EC technologies because this would help firms design appropriate interventions in order to control it. This paper proposes a framework that explains the influence of organizational factors on the propensity to employ EC technologies. The framework is based on qualitative data on EC adoption from four firms in the financial services industry in India. It explains why organizations vary in their propensity to deploy EC technologies, and highlights the role of top management, aspects of organization culture, characteristics of Information Systems professionals, and organization structure. Overall, the paper provides a structure by which specific organizational drivers of EC deployment can be analyzed and controlled and relevant managerial issues can be addressed.

Investigating the integration of SMEs' information systems: an exploratory case study

The need for business to exchange real-time information has grown since the adoption of e-commerce technology. To address this need, organisations might have to integrate their IT infrastructures. Until now, integration is frequently cited as being a sore point within organisations. For small- and medium-sized entrepreneurships (SMEs), integration is a significant problem due to high costs and technology requirements. Some cases show that SMEs can improve their competitiveness by integrating their systems with their suppliers, or other trading partners. Existing approaches to integration like electronic data interchange (EDI) might support SMEs to overcome part of the integration problems but they have their limitations. Today, web services can be exploited to further simplify unadorned integration problems. This paper presents an investigation and analysis on the integration of SMEs by reviewing the normative literature. In addition, a case study was conducted to explore the integration efforts of SMEs and understand how they respond to integration problem.

Motivators and Inhibitors of e-Commerce Technology Adoption: Online Stock Trading by Small Brokerage Firms in New Zealand

As electronic commerce becomes increasingly important in the global economy, it has the potential to change the dynamics of the global market and the way in which firms conduct their business. It is therefore important to understand the factors that motivate or hinder e- commerce adoption, and hence the development of the electronic market. This study investigates four full-service stock brokerage firms at various stages of adoption of online stock trading technology. The findings suggest that business strategy, perceived net benefits, strong management commitment, and external pressure are key factors motivating adoption. Conversely, poor alignment with business strategy, perceived low (or negative) net benefit(particularly low or nil return on EC investments), and low management commitment are likely to inhibit adoption. Contrary to expectations, technological and financial readiness were not found to be motivators of adoption.

The Rapid Emergence of Electronic Commerce in a Developing Region: The Case of Spanish-Speaking Latin America

In several respects, Spanish-speaking Latin America appears to be a "fast follower" of electronic commerce, i.e. a region of the developing world that is capable of relatively rapid adoption of e-commerce technologies and business models. The region has one of the world's fastest- growing rates of growth of Internet connectivity, and demand for information technology is soaring. The telecommunications infrastructure is improving and access costs are declining. Business and technological information from North America and Europe is readily available. However, certain structural and cultural characteristics are shaping the ways in which e-commerce can drive economic renewal in Spanish-speaking Latin America. These characteristics include a relatively weak technological and educational infrastructure, highly skewed distribution of income within national populations, scarcity of capital for new ventures, a traditional business culture that does not place high value on market responsiveness or customer service, and a policy and legal system that requires retrofitting. Nevertheless, the connectivity boom in the region has generated an array of e-commerce opportunities that are attracting many contenders from within and outside the region. This paper surveys recent research on the emergence of e- commerce in Spanish-speaking Latin America and describes the challenges facing this region as it enters the network economy.
