Abstract

Generally, many women in Malaysia choose to work because of the various demands of life. Life pressures such as the death of a husband, divorce, supporting parents and having a higher education are among the contributing factors to women’s involvement in work. However, career women face their own challenges as both career women and married women. Therefore, this paper will discuss the concept of working women from an Islamic perspective, the factors that encourage women to work, the conditions for women to go out to work, the characteristics of Muslim women’s work, the challenges faced by working women and the support system required for working women. In addition, effective family management skills are very helpful for working women. This is to ensure that household management is always organized and women can focus on work without being dominated by stress either at work or at home. The findings in this paper are obtained from document analyses that were analyzed descriptively. The purpose of this paper is to describe the problems, challenges, and initiatives that working women can take in order to achieve excellence in their careers. This is without neglecting their responsibilities to the family.
