Abstract

A versatile organic amino acid catalyst like Glycine was used to prepare an effective synthesis of Benzimidazole derivatives from a wide variety of aldehydes and substituted phenylenediamine in an aqueous environment under microwave conditions. this process produced the required compounds in good to outstanding yields. The synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives via a Glycine catalyzed process is both environmentally friendly, cost effective, easy to carry method and under microwave approach.
