Sargsyan2 1 Department of Anatomy , Semmelweis University, Hungary 2 Orbeli Institute of Physiology, NAS RA, Armenia Posturography is widely accepted as the relevant representation of postural control processes. Nevertheless, a broad sensorimotor context (e.g. visuomotor coordination, cerebellar adaptation, holistic extrapyramidal control, motor performance) should be considered as well for an extended functional evaluation. An additional advance is offered by the comparison of analytic data of the same patient collected at the onset of a disorder then later on to control the effectiveness of therapy, adaptation/rehabilitation. In this study our Posture Evaluation Platform (PEP*) was used in laboratory and clinical measurments. The high resolution and stability of this equipment has been completed by a fully automatized evaluating software package. The computer program has been developed in close cooperation with clinical specialists. Some of the large variety of the calculated parameters (time-course, amplitude-distribution, frequency spectrum of left/right and front/back component of balance) are displayed as standard analytic panel. More specific parameters as nystagm-like body sway were additionally used for some clinical syndroms as the acute and chronic central vestibular disorder. A battery of four records relating different conditions is proposed for clinical tests: a, for a physiology-based posture paradigm we propose the normal (small standing straddle) for standard instead of the rather constrained Romberg position. b, for the same reason open and closed eye measurement should be performed. The comparison of the latters provides the facility to observe the sensorimotor conflict syndrom in the acute and celebellar adaptation at chronic state.
